Went to Maruhachi Donburi & Curry a couple of bus stop away for dinner. Placed the order and received the buzzer from the stall. Ten minutes later, the buzzer is vibrating and I went to pick up my Pork Katsu Sets (S$11.80 each). Each set meal is served with shredded cabbages, white rice and miso soup with mustard and tonkatsu sauces.
The Pork Katsu is beautifully deep-fried in golden brown panko crumbs. The pork is thick enough to remain moist and the crust is so crispy. Dip it into the tangy sweet tonkatsu sauce and eat it with the plain rice or salad drizzled with sesame sauce.
PS - Sad to see the stall closed less than a year after opening. Not sure if it is because of the lack of customers for this area or the high rental overhead.

Bo ssam ended up yummy!! I forgot to get a picture of the roasted meat in all its caramelized beauty before I shredded it but that’s life for you
The pork was incredibly tender. I didn’t want to make sauce so we just used condiments for the fridge and most people went for barbecue sauce or tonkatsu. Would definitely do this recipe again!

I kinda dislike how that one omurice went viral and is basically what foreigners (such as myself) picture omurice to be - something fancy and difficult to make while the traditional omurice is just an omelette over ketchup fried rice that’s just a comfort meal, especially for kids
