Miraculous AITA: I refused to let my son have a birthday party and then turned his best friend into a monster, AITA?

Butterfly Designer I am simply a poor father trying to look after my son as a single parent after the tragic loss of my wife last year. But he has been so rebellious lately. Wanting to go to school. Wanting to spend time with plebeians. It's more than I can handle sometimes.

So without my permission and ignoring my busy timetable, he actually invited one of those philistine classmates of his that he insists is a "friend" despite knowing nothing about him, and that boy actually takes up my time to ask me about throwing a birthday party!

My son doesn't need a birthday party! It would be too dangerous with too many unknown persons and it would require even more of my time. Besides, I've already let him go to school despite him having run away from home twice to do so. If anything, he should be grounded, but I have been magnanimous and given in to his teenage whims.

The "friend" left in a huff and I rushed to my evil lair to send out a corrupted butterfly to give him powers to attack the city and try to steal magical jewelry from my teenage arch enemies and the boy just sent all of the adults in the city into space.

Am I the "asshole", as it were?

I'm all for Seducer!Albus, Gremlin!Gellert and TooTiredForThis!Harry. The thought of Albus Dumbledore flipping his romantic rival off behind their shared crush's back cracks me up. Imagine, those two trying to one-up each other cpnstantly and Harry's just standing there, stuck in the middle... so tired... why are you doing... what did I do to deserve this... I literally died for the greater good, wasn't it enough...

See, it’s even better because you’d expect Gellert to be the natural smooth talker in this. He’s the one destined to be a Dark Lord. Everything the man ends up accomplishing hints at a silver tongue and skill with flattery. But the thing most don’t understand is that seduction was a trait he picked up from Albus. So Gellert only has his pretty-boy looks going for him. He’s an entire bastard because he’s conceited and just a general asshole.

Meanwhile Albus is over here spouting poetry and giving Harry flowers and sweet-talking him like butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth. He’s all coy looks and subtle hand-brushes and Gellert is spewing fire because I found him first, eXCuse you farm boy???

Harry is both disturbed and - terrifyingly - almost flattered?? It’s hard for him to connect this bright-haired, snarky, flirty boy with his aged professor and it’s hurting his brain to think that Dumbledore apparentally likes him?

It’s even worse when Harry finds out that he’s technically older than both of them oh god he was the legal adult in this equation.
