Incredibly excited for this issue! The title “Attack on the Death Egg” already promises to be big stakes. Not only that, but we have Nigel Kitching back on writing and Ferran Rodriguez doing a stellar job on the art! I liked the art in this issue so much that I looked ahead to see how much more Rodriguez contributes to the series and sadly he only does a handful of issues here and there, so let’s enjoy him while he’s here

This is also the establishing of a huge plot-point in StC - Sonic's base being the previous headquarters of one Dr. Kintobor and the hologram of the computer there looking like how the kindly doctor used to look, even if its appearance in this issue does get retconned later. This concept continued to exist by the time I started reading the comic in issue 80 and I did always wonder why the Kintobor computer looked like that. Turns out the answer was “just because”. From a real-world perspective, I suppose it is a way to keep the whole concept of Kintobor in the eyes of the readers, who might not be familiar with Robotnik’s backstory from this lore

The Death Egg is also still around and Sonic’s looking rather casual about it being about to crash in the Emerald Hill Zone. Also, yes, they’ve moved on from the Green Hill Zone and locations in Sonic 1 to the Emerald Hill Zone, which remains their base of operations for the rest of the series. Letting my Sonic 2 bias show here and saying I just think the Emerald Hill Zone is cooler anyway, so no complaints there

After the disappointment of the non-Labyrinth Zone in the last issue, it’s great to see Sonic categorically being in Wing Fortress and fighting badniks from the game. I’m not going to post the whole sequence, but we see Tails flying the Tornado, the laser-beam boss from Wing Fortress and lots of easter eggs. It really felt like the team working on this issue cared about the games and that makes all the difference when it comes to making this comic resonate with the target audience

The duo hitch a ride into space, where they board the Death Egg and try to figure out a plan to stop it from crashing. At this point, we also get another big cameo…

…Silver Sonic! Or whatever the franchise is calling Silver Sonic these days! It doesn’t take long for Sonic to beat his robot double, but they do mention that Sonic thought he took him down “the last time he was here”, with a footnote telling readers to check out Sonic 2. For the most part, StC does adapt the later games into comic versions, but it looks like for Sonic 1 & 2, those games just happened prior to the events of the comic and exist to give early StC its setting

As the Death Egg continues to crash, Sonic alters its course away from Emerald Hill and tells Tails to take the only escape pod. We then get this sequence I really like of Tails mourning Sonic, only for Sonic to appear and be like “I’m too cool to die”. Idk I just really like how Sonic’s personality comes across here? He’s cool and arrogant, but he’s still a hero - he just wants the celebration that comes along with his good deeds

Of course, I’m sure I don’t need to point out that, while the Death Egg crashing into the ocean was a creative way to deal with that plot at the time, it will create plot-holes later on, when Sonic 3 shows that it actually crashes on the Floating Island. I honestly don’t know if StC will address this or if they’ll just retcon this story, but regardless, I had fun and I’d say that the art in this issue has been my favourite so far

No clear teaser about what’s coming in the next issue, so that’ll be a nice surprise as well

so this is niche niche, but either natalie rodriguez, a minor character in yj98 (and when i say minor, i mean she only showed up in supporting roles in 2 issues during cissie’s olympic archer arc), a deaf little girl (think traya's age) that saved them and won second place at the olympics. she’s sweet she’s smart she’s adorable, what is there not to love? or the tornado twins, don and dawn allen. they’re hilarious assholes, gave us bart and jenni, and have so much potential yet are horribly neglected. i get they live in the future and are also dead, but have you considered. i love them.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2024: Perth

WWE’s first ever Australian PPV is Elimination Chamber: Perth, the home country of stars such as Grayson Waller, Indi Hartwell, and of course, Rhea Ripley. WWE are on the road to Wrestlemania 40, and the product is getting good reviews. However, the company is rightfully suffering as a result of the recent allegations against Vince McMahon, others within the company, and the set-up itself. There are much better places to educate you than here, I will try and link a thread here if you are unaware. The responses have been varied in terms of appropriateness, and how deeply intrenched these issues are in the company are being more and more revealed by the day. It’s a horrible situation. I’m reviewing these shows purely from a wrestling point of view, and only doing so out of respect for the wrestlers. This isn't a company I can truly endorse right now, not that many companies in life are. But I’m going to analyse the show for the wrestlers sake, so let's go to the pre-show.

Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) def. The Way (Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell) for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in 8:55

This match was pretty short, and not particularly exciting. I wouldn’t say it was bad, because all of these women are beyond-competent wrestlers, but it just wasn't the most wildly unique match. Candice is isolated nicely by the Kabuki Warriors until hometown hero Indi Hartwell can get the hot tag. It was a bit flat for me at home but the crowd enjoyed it. Things are going well for The Way until Kairi stops a rope-walk move, and Candice takes an awesome bump that was a real highlight of this one! Here comes the finish though as the Kabuki Warriors hit the reverse DDT In-Sane Elbow combo that I missed the name of, and that's all she wrote. Just fine this one, and would have liked a bit more speed, grit, and length: all of which I know these women could give if given the time.

A few points as we head to the main show. First, I hate the change to these logo-based titantrons over the classic showcase-style ones from back in the day. It’s everywhere that does videos, but I must say, WWE’s are easily the worst. They look so lifeless, so much empty space, and sometimes the text just bounces for no reason? Brock’s one was the worst back in the day. Fuck that guy, btw. Secondly, Cole introduces Perth telling us about how it once had a different name and was inhabited by the indigenous people, before being renamed Perth… I don't think that's the fun harmless tidbit you think it is!

Becky Lynch def. Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, & Bianca Belair in an Elimination Chamber Match for the No. 1 Contendership for the WWE Women’s World Championship in 32:15

In the build-up to this one, Michael Cole twice says “Liv Morgan has renamed this the Elimination Chamber”. This was very funny. I can only assume he tried to say “E-Liv-imation Chamber”. This one started slow but got better with every entrant. Tiffany Stratton came in to a great ovation and brought so much energy, joining Becky and Naomi. Liv brought even more energy. Naomi and Stratton did a fun rolling spot where Naomi used the structure to her advantage. Naomi hits a blockbuster on Liv off of a chamber pod, but Stratton stacks her up after for a three-count. Why she doesn't pin Liv too I don't know. Raquel adds power, swinging Stratton and Liv into the wall. Bianca comes in and brings her brilliance too. We get a Belair/Raquel stand-off, we get an awesome suplex counter from Belair using the wall to turn it into a slingshot tornado DDT. Liv comes off a pod to a senton to Raquel on the top turnbuckle, that’s mental. Flip senton from Stratton off the pod does some damage, but she is hit with a top rope Ob-Liv-ion to be eliminated. MVP. We get a wicked powerbomb into the ring from Raquel to Bianca. Rodriguez is in top, hitting a double powerbomb on Becky and Liv, but Bianca comes in with a big KOD to eliminate Raquel. The only three reasonable winners remain. Bit of a contrived pod spot to Bianca from Liv as the action spills outside. Liv counters a KOD and then a Manhandle Slam, the latter with a Codebreaker, which was sick. She attempts the Ob-Liv-ion but Becky avoids it, then flips out of a KOD. Liv rolls up Bianca for an elimination, but walks into a Manhandle Slam for Becky to win.

This one started quite slow but really ramped up and won me over. It was a spotfest for the majority, but who doesn't like a bit of a spotfest in these special stipulations. Bianca, Liv and Tiffany brought so much to this match and I loved that. Tiffany especially was an MVP, and I’d maybe book her to win the Money in the Bank briefcase this year. Good stuff.

Judgment Day (Damien Priest & Finn Balor w/ Dominik Mysterio) def. New Catch Republic (Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne) for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships in 17:45

Why do they say New Catch Republic like that in their music? That makes this name so much worse. Anyway, this was a pretty cool match. Love seeing Bate & Dunne back together, and against good opponents. Lots of cool double team action from them, and Dominik got some mad heat here. The Birminghammer is one of the best move names I’ve ever heard. This was definitely a showcase for NCR but the finish, as a result, comes out of nowhere, with a double chokeslam/Coup de Grace giving Judgment Day the win. Fun match though!

We have The Grayson Waller Effect with guests Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Austin Theory goes for some random heat on Australia then just stands there. Waller does a shoey, then sucks up to The Bloodline. Rollins says he’ll be cleared soon. Cody says he wants Rock one-on-one and Rollins backs him up. Theory gets on the mic and does bad Rock impressions to get mad at Cody. Seth eggs him on so he can throw him around, then Cody Cutter, then a Rollins Stomp. Waller lets this happen because even he doesn't really like Theory. Well that was extremely exciting, but admittedly you had to have 3 of these four on the show somewhere. 

Drew McIntyre def. LA Knight, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, & Logan Paul in an Elimination Chamber for the No. 1 Contendership to the World Heavyweight Championship in 36:53

Knight and McIntyre start before Owens joins. Cool codebreaker/senton from Owens to both men. Also McIntyre did this ridiculous crossbody to Owens and Knight from the middle rope. Lashley joins and does his thing. Orton is number five and does his thing too. Logan enters and Owens is waiting for him. Lashley eventually sends Owens and Paul through the pods. That was pretty gnarly! A pair of Claymores with a random LA Knight attack in the middle eliminates Lashley. Knight hits a jump-up superplex on Drew, then BFTs to Drew and Orton. But Styles then attacks Knight with a chair and a Styles Clash on the chair! Sadly looks like Knight isn't taking the US Title at Mania… Drew pins Knight. Owens takes on the lot of them until a nasty knees-up counter from Drew to a Swanton. KO pop-ups Drew and stunners Paul, but ends up taking an RKO to be eliminated. Paul hits a big crossbody onto Drew from the top of the pod! We get a close-up of Paul preparing his brass knuckles, but RKO OUT OF NOWHERE! Randy pins Paul. I’ve enjoyed the seriousness to win this one, but I’d also love more spots. Orton is super injured, and Drew stands over him, but RKO! BUT THEN PAUL HITS ORTON WITH THE BRASS KNUCKLES! Drew drapes and arm over and wins.

It was pretty good, good intensity, but I don't know, it didn't fully click with me. Drew is the right winner and it's pretty obvious.

Rhea Ripley def. Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s World Championship in 14:25

Who could ever win this one? Really not too much interesting to this one. Ripley is over, Rhea is cool, Jax is not really very good. Ripley had to main event but I wish she had a more technically sound opponent. There's an awkward elbow drop through the announce table after a Samoan Drop leaves Rhea on it. Jax stands precariously on a chair and gets no air. There was also a “My hole” chant, and I thought that was funny even if that joke was unfunny within a day of happening the first time. Cool superplex tees Ripley up for the win with a Riptide. It was nice seeing Rhea celebrate with her family, she is very cool. Match wasn't though, but is salvaged by the framing and moment of it all.

Overall, I thought this show was decent. The way WWE lay out their PPVs is completely ridiculous, as it took 4 hours to watch this show live, with so much nothing. However, the matches were mainly good, but nothing truly great. The Women's Elimination Chamber was certainly the highlight, with the slog of a main event only being helped by the moment of Rhea Ripley in front of her home country crowd. Still, four matches on the main card is ridiculous even with the longer chamber matches, so this show also has that working against it. I'm settling on 3 stars out of 5 for this one.

so ive been playing just cause 4, i think ive mentioned it before, but i havent really been paying attention to like, mechanics or story, because no matter what, its just a game about blowing stuff up

and dont get me wrong, its really good at being a game about blowing stuff up. it doesnt really try to do much else, the devs clearly knew what the good part of the game is

but

i just finished one of the big story missions, 'operation windwalker'. and it was really cool mechanically, the basic premise is that there is a big man-made tornado that youre gonna use to destroy a big bad hideout, fairly standard over-the-top rico stuff

the thing that makes it so cool and unique is that your big locomotion tools in this game are your wingsuit and parachute

which do not do well with tornados

so you end up trying to do stuff on a timer, rush to save the day, but as youre wingsuiting between buildings you have to fight against the tornado

i dont know anything about weather, so the science here may be questionable, but idc, it feels really cool to zoop in a circle around a tornado to pick up speed

Tadeo Garcia não era das pessoas mais espertas do mundo. Trabalhava na panfletagem da loja de bugigangas de seu pai, mas queria tanto ter uma vida melhor! Mas foi quando conheceu Cinderella que as coisas melhoraram um pouco, já que ela não era uma ameça para si - até gostava de conversar com o ratinho. Não que fosse bom sinal, ela devia ser meio birutinha e sem amigos humanos, mas, para Tata estava bom! Quando a maldição chegou, ele voltou a ser humano.

Se não bastasse a maldição que se instaurava em Storybrooke, Lorenzo ainda tinha que viver com a maldição de ser o filho do meio. Enquanto o filho mais velho era perfeito e inalcançável, o mais novo era o mais querido e mais cuidado. Enquanto ele? Bom, tinha que se esforçar o triplo para ganhar o mesmo de atenção.

Quando era novo, seus pais o consideravam uma criança muito bonita. Por isso, não perderam tempo antes de inscrevê-lo em uma seleção para jovens atores e modelos. Precisavam investir em algo que consideravam fútil, afinal, mesmo aos oito anos Lorenzo já demonstrava que inteligência não seria seu forte. E para a surpresa de todos, inclusive dele, havia selecionado para a próxima etapa de uma seleção para um filme infantil! Oras, talvez tivesse algum talento, afinal!! Depois de fazer mais algumas etapas da seleção, os diretores diziam que ele tinha o carisma perfeito para ser ator, que era esforçado, que tinha talento! Mas que infelizmente haviam achado alguém para o papel principal. Se ele fosse capaz de fazer o vilão, poderia se sair bem no filme. E bom, ele queria fazer algo direito! Então deu seu melhor para ser escolhido - e foi. Aos nove anos estava estrelando um filme, onde ele era o vilão que fazia bullying com o personagem principal. E para ele tudo bem! Pegava de inspiração os bullys que haviam em sua escola e logo estava fazendo um bom trabalho como grande malvadão dos anos 2000. O problema era que os telespectadores apresentavam alguma dificuldade de entender que ele não era o mesmo que seu personagem. Quando passava na rua, gritavam: POR QUE É QUE VOCÊ DISSE QUE ELE ERA UM POBRE FEDIDO? Ou ainda, em outros momentos, jogavam coisas nele, enquanto diziam: ESSA FOI POR VOCÊ TER SABOTADO A APRESENTAÇÃO DO PHILLIP, como se ele tivesse realmente feito aquilo. Em um misto de sentimentos, apesar de estar sendo odiado, o filme havia sido um grande sucesso! Um enorme hit, que chegou a tela de todas as pessoas do país, até fora dele! Seus pais não podiam estar mais orgulhosos, uau, tinham um filho famoso! Ao menos até os catorze anos. 

Quando a puberdade chegou, ele cresceu! Agora tinha uma barba falhada, um corpo espichado e esquisito, e o rosto não era mais fofo. Quando completou dezoito anos, decidiu que precisava dar um jeito em sua vida. Começou tentar vender seu peixe para a galera, mas não estava conseguindo.Ele falava demais, certo. Ele era carismático, certo. Fazia amigos facilmente, já que normalmente arrancava risada dos outros com jeito exagerado e atrapalhado, mas não conseguia bombar. Conforme foi ficando mais velho, tentou bombar no orkut, no youtube, mas nada. E foi nesse meio tempo que conheceu Samantha - uma caloura de cinema que parecia ter tantas paixões parecidas com a sua. E foi por falta de cuidado (ou falta de noção) que acabou engravidando a recente namorada - fazendo com que por duas semanas ele entrasse um surto. Como cuidaria de uma criança se mal sabia limpar a própria bunda direito? Mas depois de dois dias de terapia (tudo que ele fez durante toda a vida) ele decidiu que o certo era ficar ao lado dela e apoia-la. E assim nasceu Great! O novo amor da vida dele. 

Atualmente, Lorenzo, Star e Great vivem em uma casinha anexa a mansão dos Wallers. Apesar de ter alguns trabalhos como incrível ator que é - como comercial de laxante, por exemplo -, eles vivem principalmente às custas do sogrão, Titus Waller, com quem se dá muito bem. lorenzo não é das pessoas mais inteligentes do mundo! mas ele compensa no carisma. é aquela pessoa animada, amigo para qualquer hora, que move montanhas para ajudar aqueles que ama. apesar disso, é atrapalhado e um tanto quanto perdido, dificilmente é levado a sério, justamente por ser um pouco avoado demais e com ideias sem noção. quando precisa de responsabilidade, dá seu melhor, mas não é o melhor nessa coisa de ser adulto mesmo já tendo quase trinta anos na cara.

está tentando fazer fetch acontecer. e não apenas fetch. lorenzo simplesmente acha que vai conseguir fazer as girias que ele cria pegarem. um exemplo claro é chapilsk,que significa amigos, galera, camaradas. exemplo de uso: e ai meus chapilsks, como que estão? ele jura que ainda vai acontecer. além disso, tem as siglas que cria que acha que obviamente todos deveriam entender, como por exemplo ETAMMPSMA, que significa “Eu Te Amo Muito Mesmo Para Sempre Meu Amor”, sigla frequentemente utilizada com sua namorada Star, e se um dia for utilizado com outra pessoa não contem para ela, pelo amor de deus.

tem um tiktok de pai e filha com great, com eventuais aparições de star. no tiktok eles fazem dancinhas (nas quais a filha é muito melhor do que ele). a filha de sete (quase oito anos) é o grande amor de sua vida e ele faria literalmente qualquer coisa por ela. menos deixar ela pintar o cabelo inteiro de uma cor nova, porque ele é um pai responsável! ele e star deixaram que ela fizesse uma mechinha apenas, a qual ela troca de cor quase toda semana. 

e falando de relacionamento, além de viver em um anexo dos wallers, e praticamente fazer compras na mansão de titus, ele foi muito bem acolhido pela família da namorada - que ele considera mais sua do que a própria! faz tudo por star e vive literalmente grudado com ela. invade algumas das noites das garotas, leva ela para a noite dos caras, pois tem medo que se acabarem se distanciando só um pouquinho seja mal sinal para o relacionamento. além disso, são experts em serem cupidos para outro casais e arrastar todos os que já estão juntos para double dates. 

atualmente pode ser visto em vários dos piores comerciais na televisão de stoybrooke. se você tem um negócio e quer que bombe? contrate o melhor casal para esse tipo de coisa! star tem uma visão visionária das coisas e sabe como dirigir um comercial melhor do que alguém formado! enquanto isso, lorenzo é capaz de atuar nos comerciais de forma tão carismática que vai fazer todo mundo querer seu produto ou visitar seu estabelecimento.

Carlos is organised, bossy, kind and intelligent. Carlos wants to make sure that East High's musical is as good as it can be. Carlos also always works extremely hard to achieve his dreams. 

At his best, Carlos learns how to relax and move away from his view of how things should be. Carlos also lets go of some of his insecurities and takes the step of being on stage in the musical in s2. 

At his worst, Carlos can be a bit critical and passive aggressive, especially if he feels excluded or left out. For example, he is quite passive aggressive when he thinks Seb forgot his birthday and continually drops hints to try and get him to realise he is upset.

Carlos can be a bit of a control freak, especially when it comes to choreographing the musical. For example, Carlos asks Gina to be his co-choreographer but when Gina starts 'stepping on his toes' he becomes critical and tries to do it his way. He also feels like Gina is taking away the one thing he loves and is really, really good at. However, after talking to Gina, he explains that he wants her help because she has a similar passion for dance, and he apologizes for being bossy. 

Carlos has a really close relationship with Miss Jenn, and always seems to be seeking her approval. He likes helping her with the musical because he feels like he is learning a lot. Miss Jenn also gives him the opportunity to show his talents of choreography and helps him come out of his shell in regards to performing on stage. He also feels like Miss Jenn gets him and lets him be himself, which has been hard for him at school. 

Carlos and Seb have a strong relationship and seem to bring out the best in each other. Seb helps Carlos take life a little less seriously and makes him feel at ease. Carlos also helps Seb feel more confident in himself and shows him that he matters. However, they can have problems when they don’t communicate, as we saw when Carlos went on Spring Break. Carlos was able to reassure Seb that he wants to be with him and their relationship is stronger than ever.
