Ah I’m making AU’s all the time haha! This one is based on the fact I’ve been really into the Pirate and the Princess (Webtoon) lately hehe <3 (I recommend it sm!) Also I really felt like doing a manip and it took so long but I think it turned out super fun!!

They both understand their situation and most importantly how they can't just walk away,no matter how much they want to do so

Anneliese is aware that despite everything she and her kingdom receive will be great,she loves someone else but knows that as a princess her people come first. She'll marry king Dominic to save her Kingdom at the cost of her own happiness

Erika knows that she can't just leave. It doesn't matter how terrible and unfair her life is,she's forced to work for long years as she barely gets anything in return. But she still remains hopeful

Both girls are fully aware that weather they like it or not,their current duty comes first,they bravely face it and don't try to run away from it,unlike so many other movies they didn't use the typical trope of "always be yourself and don't give a shit what the others say" this movie showed how sometimes we need to make huge sacrifices and I think that's really admirable

Do you have a overarching plot planned or is it more of a "making up the story as we go and we'll see where it takes us" ?

A lot of it is just week-by-week - I have vague plans of adventures and things I'd like to do, but I don't do more in-depth stuff until I'm doing proper session prep for the next week. I have the next couple of adventures planned, and story arcs I'd like to follow :)

For example, I've put things in that will intrigue all of my players - one of them has acquired a demonic artefact called the Eye of Midas which gives her advantage on all saving throws related to money, and has the potential to do more if she can convince it to attune with her. I also have plans for most of their backstories to come back and bite them :)

However, right now they're going to this island led by Galabre, the Lone Cartographer, who is being led there by prophetic dreams from their goddess Sehanine. I know what's on this island, but I need to figure out what the hell Sehanine wants there. Sorry for not going into more detail, my players follow me (but if you want to talk to me more about it and help me brainstorm, my discord is philothea)!

Watching The Princess and The Pilot and dang the parallel between how she tied the guaze ends into bows because she's never done first aid and she's a princess who would have no need to learn a different kind of knot. And then immediately a whole montage of her helping fix the plane and cutting off her hair so she can step up.

But at the same time the flower field scene and mourning of Chise who she hadn't seen in a decade after that. Still shows it's not that easy to toughen up and harden even with your life on the line.

How do you get story inspo? I loved the princess and the popstar and am trying to comprehend how you came up with the amazing plotline

Beloved, when I tell you that I literally have no clue, I truly mean it.

It kind of just, appeared out of nowhere? For the soulmate au Idea, I was rumaging around on pinterest for things, and I found the singing at the same time one. At the same time, I'd been going on a kick about like, popstars and the horrible world of famous people? I'd read a book called The Falling Between Us, by Ash Parsons, and it really was a lot of the inspiration for TPATP. Then, on top of that, I think somewhere around there I'd watched The Princess Diaries 2, which is the best movie of the two, fight me, and I got a lot of the inspiration from that as well, because Mia and the guy whose name I can't remember's chemistry is unmatched and the tension is fantastic.

I think it was just a combination for a lot of things and then me trying to fill in all the things I wanted. Like I wanted all of them to be super traumatized and start figuring out how to work through their various problems. I wanted all sorts of things to happen and so I had them happen.

Also, honestly, not going to lie to you but I'm a huuuugeee pantser when it comes to writing, so half of the plot of TPATP was made up in the moment and of the moment while I was in the process of writing. I made a good playlist, worked on what I wanted, and it kind of just appeared!!!

Although, I will tell you one thing. Inspiration itself, although it feels like a fickle beast, cannot be waited for for very long. Eventually, either things will start to click, or you grab your club and go after it to bring it home for dinner. It's hard to write through bouts of not knowing where to start or where to go, but really, in my opinion, that's the best way to get inspiration and to keep it!
