Summary:

Nursey has an unopened letter from his birth mom that his adoptive mom only just decided to send him. He has a short story due next week for which he has written all of one sentence. He’s considering dropping out of college to move to a remote clearing in the woods where he can lie facedown in the leaves and scream. 

Meanwhile, his crush on an oblivious d-man gets more and more unmanageable.

Dex and bitty r a wee fucked up inside bc of their parents and i like to think they have weekly salt sessions abt it

THEY DO! they get each other 😢

i think dex and bitty show each other passive agressive texts from their moms and compare horror stories about things their dads have said in passing, not thinking about who was around to hear it (read: their gay sons). i think their friends will talk about their family vacations they had as kids, eyes lighting up with fond memories, and bitty and dex will lock eyes and give each other a "what the fuck is going on?" look because family vacations were always more of a chore and an experiment on patience than anything else for both of them. i think bitty will call dex and be like "is it weird for you too? enjoying being around your in laws more than your actual parents?" and dex will think about how he felt happy to go home with nursey, but also out of place and awkward in the midst of all the hugging and playful teasing and smiles that nursey's moms passed around so willingly and easily, and say "yeah. definitely weird," and know that bitty gets it.

Thoughts on jack his first year at samwell

okay so

Jack is coming into college after rehab and COACHING CHILDREN. like. small ones. so i think he actually comes in more relaxed than most people headcanon him. i think the combo of therapy and coaching the peewees does him a lot of good. both for his relationship with himself and his relationship with his parents.

enter: b shitty knight. who is just. unapologetically himself and ready to throw hands at anyone who is mean to his friends, but esp jack.

and like, he's still quiet and kinda shy and the seniors/upperclassmen are assholes.

but he in general thinks he's made the right decision

and then hazeapalooza is happening.

and they tell him to be elsewhere. just don't show up. 'you're so much older than the other freshman' and 'we're trying to win championships on merit and not on nepotism' and 'we're surprised you passed a drug test' and jack just

takes a giant step back. from the team. from shitty. from the progress that he made.

and focuses on hockey. too much.

because he's got to prove them wrong. he's got to prove to them that he's worth it. and prove to his parents (even tho before hazing he would have been sure that they are proud of him no matter what) and prove to himself and its just too much.

and sometime around november, after pulling away from shitty (who doesn't know what happened at hazing and was just sad jack wasn't there), after pulling away from the team, after telling hall and murray 'no im fine, still going to therapy, everything's fine' --

sometime around november. it becomes too much. and he just - is breaking down on the loading dock at faber. where shitty comes to smoke (which jack registered subconsiously). and he's having a panic attack and he can't breathe and what if they ask him to leave the team to leave samwell to leave hockey -- and suddenly - shitty is there.

babbling about one of his classes and how his professor is the best thing since tie-dye and how that cloud over there looks like a keg don't you think jack.

and it pulls him out of his panic attack. he can breathe again. and even though its been like 2 months since he's talked to shitty properly, jack relaxes, and shitty's relieved and they go to the party at the haus that night and write down the bylaws and sit on the reading room and its good. and nice even.

and the team does okay that season. they win more than they lose. hall and murray are happy. jack is close with shitty and johnson is weird but likeable. shitty tells him that there's a couple d-men that were on the taddy tour that seem like they'll be a good fit next year.

but jack doesn't forget that the upperclassmen told him he wasn't welcome, and no vaguely uplifting and cryptic comment from johnson can change the fact that he wasn't a part of the team

but somehow the team votes him captain

and he thinks - okay. maybe this will be fine. perhaps it was just the seniors.

next year will be better.

the team will be better.

he will be better.

he has to be.

Thoughts on nursey dex chowder polycule

Oh I’m a big fan(though that may have to do with my projection issues and want to maybe be in a polycule someday(but we don’t need to unpack all of that))

I really like the idea of them all being together as a set and then maybe Chowder still dates Cait as well. Like they’re all good friends with her but she’s only dating Chowder. They’ll have date nights where it’s just the three of them and then sometimes they all go out together, or split into pairs so they can get time alone together as well. I love nurseydex immensely but I think having Chowder in there will help neutralize how explosive they can be and mediate. And then when Chowder and Nursey get into their own heads about things, I think Dex could help them not necessarily start the conversation(cause he’s not a good talker either) but just take care of themselves until they are ready to talk. Making breakfast in the morning, reminding them to drink water and those kinds of things ya know? And Nursey helps them by helping putting their feelings into words, none of them are always the best at communication but he can get them talking again and better express their feelings.

As for like the fun stuff I think Nursey and Chowder are very into pda and cuddling and while Dex may not be super comfortable with it, he’s always happy to hold their hands. And when Chowder or Nurse grabs his hand to pull him down with them to cuddle he’ll go(if with a bit of grumbling cause he’s got a reputation to uphold). I also think maybe they have nights or days where they just have Nursey read to them(a mix of his own and others work), they both really like his voice, it’s calming. Chowder and Nursey both like to either just sit in the kitchen while Dex bakes or watch him fix/make something new, cause they like to see him in his element. Sometimes Nursey and Dex will purposely ask Chowder a question that they know will get him started on anything and everything abt his current special interest. Cause they just like to hear him ramble about things he’s passionate about. Their family and even friends may get a bit confused but they’re happy and really that’s the important thing.

Listen at the end of the day, they each have two hands and then Caitlin can jump on Chowder’s back so I don’t see why they can’t all be happy together ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Since you said in any language, I'll pick one of my favorite Arabic poems because I don't get to talk about them much. I'm sorry for the amount of rambling in this in advance 🙃

This one was written by an Arab poet (Lisan Al-Din Ibn Al-Khatib who was also a scientist and a politician) from Granada in the 14th century. He wrote the poem after he was exiled to Morocco due to political disagreements. He wrote it in nostalgia to his life in Granada. His life is SO INTERSETING if you wanna look him up btw, lots of political schemes and his death is even weirder.

The poem is called "May generous rains bless you," or جادك الغيث in Arabic.

Shooting stars became jealous and vanished on us or maybe it was Narcissus' eyes that envied us.

This is my translation by the way, I tried to translate the meaning more than the literal words. Also, in Arabic, male pronouns can be used to address both male and female (although there are female pronouns too), so the poet is talking to a woman, but he's using male pronouns. (Although you never know ;) It's another reason I love Arabic poetry lol).
