HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!!

#dexdark #dexter's laboratory #dexter's lab #dexter #mandark #flame draws #every year they stayed up and wish each other a happy new year ever since they were young #even when they rivals although it seemed more mocking. they were lonely and did it anyway and it tumbled into a tradition from then on #each year passing their wishes of a new year turned softer. this year? the same tradition. they've tried to stay up but they were much olde #staying up late is difficult when you're so tired from the entire year crashing on you #they fell asleep right before the clock hit. and when it did it only it only woke Mandark. who quickly turned it of to let his husband #have a few more winks of sleep and kissed his forehead and joining his love in sleep once again #dexter love mandark's stubble and giving chin scratches that dark relishes in. make him fall warm and fluffy inside #i mostly drew it to show they were older. hope it showed #soft sleepy kisses are one of my favorites #also mandark drools in his sleep #there could have been a much sadder verison of this >:> but lets have fluff lmao #there was several verison of this! dexter waking first and giving the kiss. mandark trying to wake up dexter before the clock hit #only to be too sleepy and kiss him on the lips quickly before passing out again then the clock hits while mandark is dumbfounded.#just quickly threw colors around lol i hope it looks fine #it was a really good year for art I grew so much since then. mentally and artistically #hope to be here for a very long time. you cant get rid of me easily #my resolution? to spam that tag till it's a overflowing bucket in my free time and explore more fandoms :D #also maybe lessen my rambles in tags. . .

will say it is SO challenging to capture liams voice. when i was rewatching it on my bday w my friend i was STILL noticing things . character dialogue is so complex and i NEED to perfect it or ill collapse into the ground

#like i noticed that like. his 'optimism' is USUALLY rephrased pessimism almost?#most notablel example being when amelia asks if hes ok wearing the cast and he says 'its fine ill get used to it'#which like. i think ppl overplay him not verbalizing his emotions #which i think he TECHNICALLY does but not in the way people depict it?#hes not trying to Spare people the Concern #it comes across more like. frustration that hes TRYING to be optimistic about .but its poorly executed #as the series goes on it only gets more complex #also when hes talking to bryce in ep 6 he talks slower than usual? which i Tried to capture in that earlier aart from today #he also kinda does it in ep 10? but i think he gets indignant enough that it like. the frustration overpowers any despair #and he ends up talking FASTER actually.#also i will say that liam talks like. surprisingly Detailed ? but still concise #always think about his decription of the waiting room #and also him saying that bryce being 'complicit ticks [him] off'#its such a Specific way to describe it ?? if that makes sense??#like he REALLY often phrases things Well and it comes across kinda odd #but also. thatperson has said hed name a cat 'smth practical. like fluffy'#which i mention a LOT but look. i think it so well captures the way he Goes About Things #so even when hes frustrated he STILL details things like. practically #anyway yea . yea.#a few years back i saw someone make like. a character writing guide for another series i like #and sometimes i think itd be SO fun to make smth like that for liam. maybe even other one characters

Whumpay Day 17: Parental Caretaker/ Mermaid

“Here, I put a pillow at the top of the bathtub, so hopefully that will help make it a little bit more comfortable,” he rubbed the back of neck, “though I’m not sure how comfortable a tub can be.”

Whumpee gazed at the set up from her position on the floor. He had placed her down there after patching her up and to show them her new room. Caretaker had been nice enough to carry her around as she couldn’t walk, giving her a good view of the grey speckling his beard and the way years of hard work sagged his skin.

“It’s better than anything I ever had before,” she turned to smile up at him, “thank you.”

Caretaker gave her a small smile in return, holding his hands out. “Would you like to sit in your new “bed” now.”

Whumpee giggled quietly, allowing herself to be lifted into the water, finally allowed to relax for the first time in years. As she watched the old lighthouse worker bid her goodnight, turning off the lights as he left, Whumpee thought to herself that everything would be alright.

Making ocs is an art that i think was lost on me, to do that i think you need to be able to figure out a life and in order to do THAT i need experience in making ocs. Dammit i gotta do this badly, scared and for the first time

#hex is a black cat with purple accents. hes a stocky but fluffy cat with medium length fur #i cant decide if he has purple eyes or brown #i want to draw him as a bartender #he should be able to wear hats. i think he would be good at wearing a hat #god im a boring person #hex has a sibling. i dont really have him fleshed out but hes called decimal #i think hes a brown tabby cat whos much fatter #hex is super bad at sports but he knows how to box bc he used to fight with dex #he used to be really into orange things and has a bunch of orange stuff left over from it but now hes more into black+bright/glowing pink #maybe ill draw him in a pink jacket one day #thats a lot already oh wow #hes good at playing cards and can deal like a showoff (i know nothing about cards)#hes good at caligraphy but his handwriting is like chickenscratch #hex #he signs all his cards with a giant flourish that takes up half the card but its pretty so they dont mind #he really loves fire lilies bc of his orange phase but couldnt bear to repot them for dragon lilies. like what is he gonna just evict them?#so hes has the extra thing of seeds next to the planter but no plans on planting them any time soon #hes a soft type of dude but once you know him he'll bite #he tries to be refined but it just ends up camp meanwhile dex would ride an atv through mud all day if he could afford to #he paints but hes never satisfied with it so he ends up just painting over it and making it an abstract portrait if he fucks up #when hes painting he always starts by painting his claws a matching color

This is Sandyshore! A fun loving sort of naive cat with a clam for a brain. While her heart is as bright and precious as a pearl, his mind isn’t so shiny though it has its strengths.
