Beetlejuice AU i've been working my peanut brain on, this is some concept for it. Bruce and Brandy are Charles and Delia, they're not (?) Branch's parents still a brother relation, but they adopted after Branch lost his caretaker (Gma rosie ded fr). Still working on logistics, im not rlly smart. Viva and Clay I'm pretty sure are gonna be the Maitlands. This au isnt gonna be a one to one with Beetlejuice, but heavily inspired at least! Idk if I'm gonna focus TOO much on it, but I wanted to share my brain fart anyway.

Danny couldn’t help but let his gaze keep sliding towards his office. Buck had closed the door but hadn’t closed the blinds so from the computer table he had a pretty good view of the kid’s face.  Whoever Buck was talking to, he was animated and trying to put on a cheerful front but there was a line of tension in his shoulders that seemed genetically identical to Steve’s own body language.

Kid was upset about something. Not about whoever he was talking to that he appeared to be trying to cheer up but there was definitely something he was hiding. The back of Danny’s brain itched, wondering who exactly was on the other side of that call. 

Chin, his own poker face firmly in place, waited until Steve and Kono had headed out before inclining his head towards Buck. “Something we need to worry about?”

“No,” Danny replied, firm.  Whatever was going on with Buck it wasn’t a problem for 5-0.  At the unimpressed look his answer got, he felt compelled to explain just a bit. “It’s a personal problem—probably.”

“Probably?”  One of those fine pencil thin eyebrows twitched and the corner of the mouth turned up in a half-smile that showed he’d amused Chin. 

Rolling his eyes, Danny waved his hands. “Family drama—I think.”

“Is this family drama going to follow him here?” Chin asked carefully.

“This isn’t a Doris problem.” Danny insisted, realizing that Chin was probably assuming that Buck had the type of family problems that Steve had instead of different—more normal—ones.  Not everyone’s mother pretended to be dead for almost two decades and had been a maybe or maybe not so ex- CIA agent. 

Then again, Danny was just assuming that Buck didn’t.  He might need to double check that at some point. 

Chin frowned but his eyes danced in amusement as he looked towards the office and then back at Danny. “Just promise you’ll let us know if we need to be ready for a Doris shaped problem.”

“Don’t say her name like that.  If you keep saying it she’s going to appear suddenly and before you know it someone’s getting shot at again.”

“You mean like Beetlejuice?” Chin was just trolling him. 

Probably.  

Better not to tempt fate. 

“More like Bloody Mary,” Danny muttered under his breath.

Both the musical versions of Phantom of the Opera and Beetlejuice have enough similarities that its pretty amusing. Among which include:

-extortion and manipulation

-dead parent sub plot with a song dedicated to that parent

-A prank involving someone singing towards the end of act one

-forcing the lead female into marrying antagonist

-Antagonist that’s not above trolling the ever heck out of everyone

-Lots of murder

-The titular characters got hit with a degree of adaptational attractiveness (I for one am not complaining).

And heck, you could ALMOST switch plots with the casts to the point of them still being a bit similar. Or alternatively, they could be AUs towards each other. Except for two things:

-Christine would NEVER kill Erik/the Phantom because she’s still too nice for it (in the book she attempted suicide before he could force her to marry him and also made the dumb mistake of not running away ASAP when she had the chance).

-Beetlejuice clearly regards Lydia as a best friend and never really hits on her like he does with the adults (Especially considering he’s only wanting to marry her to come back to life and nothing else, which he pretty much says at one point). And if this meant that he was already alive here, then he’d have more fun having a friend to help scare the crap out of everyone in a huge theater house. (To be honest, I’d love to see THAT AU version of PotO). Also, no one would even DARE think to convince Lydia to be the bait in capturing Beetlejuice like in the song ‘Notes/Twisted every way.’

He is an little beetle who is “ugly”,he is also a guy who makes juice (its called beetle juice but is 100% bug free),also he got vision 0.4 fold,as a sign that he lost almost everything

Hmmm. Beetles on alternia are implied to be equated with money (”embezzling beetles”), so it’s definitely good he’s not making juice out of them. Why does he make juice, though? I don’t know how ell that goes with the rest of his character? Is it just because of the beetlejuice pun? You don’t really have to do that if it doesn’t fit his character… Though I guess recycling could encourage him to make juice out of other stuff? Maybe he could be the type he likes clean living in general up to and including doing those weird juicing diets?

Name:Kaburo Jeprio,Kaburo is from Kabuto that is beetle in japanese,also that it means headgear too,Jeprio is from jepri,an egypt beetle that reincarnates on the balls it makes,it resembles the way he uses “trash” to make art

Hooow about Vietei Buybak. 

Vietei is from a particular species of dung beetle, and Buybak is just… It’s a reference to Buy Back policies, where organizations will pay for containers being returned to be recycled.

Recycling is a big theme you have here, so him just grabbing a stick and whacking people with it is pretty funny… But I kind of like the idea of him just having like, Salvagekind. He just uses whatever things he’s recently rescued. It could be a piece of driftwood, or a wad of paper, or a pvc pipe, or… so on and so forth.

Fetch Modus:hmm

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle- Everything he puts in gets reduced to its base components. Which is convenient for combining them in new and unique ways, but really inconvenient if he wants to like… save something as it is.

How about reclamationRtist. Reclamation being a reference to the taking back and converting into new, and Rtist being a play on artist.

Hhmmm… You could have him triple R’s, like tRRRash, as a reference to reduce/reuse, recycle. Of you could have him litter sentences with a bunch of punctuation to be a visual waste.

Hmmmm…. I still don’t know about the number. But I do think that… Okay, so part of how eyes work is that they recycle light-sensitive proteins. So his eye could fail to do that and he could thus have lost a large part of his light vision? It’s a good contrast to Odel’s light synthesia.

That is a pretty funny ideajhbjh. Maybe it could have beetle horns and a sort of shell? But instead of legs it just has an orb that it rolls on. Love it.

Personality: he is a guy who recycles stuff,he does art but he feels like there’s something missing in his hearth

Maybe none of his work ever satisfies him? Like he will do all this new work and this building of stuff, but he’s always chasing some greater potential? He can’t find a medium that satisfies him? He’s tried painting and sculpture and culinary stuff, but he’s still searching for the Perfect Canvas. The Perfect Medium. The Perfect Starting Point.

Design: 

Horns: I decided to keep the somewhat spikey horns, though I edited them to look a little bit more recognizably like beetle horns. 

Helmet: I decided to make it metallic colored and put it in two different colors, like he salvaged two pieces of metal and fused them together into this helmet. 

Shirt: Similar to the helmet, I decided to make it look like he combined two separate shirts. A cerulean and a black shirt, with one half holding his symbol. 

Shorts: Simple and a little bit frayed, I wanted them to look salvaged, too. Just a lot of recycled fabric going on here!

Shoes: I did keep the clean white shoes you added.

I read somewhere that Beetlejuice is basically like a macabre version of a genie. Of all the Aladdin AUs I’ve come upon, that one would be especially amusing. Even more so considering Tim Burton actually directed the Aladdin episode for Shelly Duvall’s Fairy Tale Theater.

The idea of Aladdin actually being a lovable goth girl would be a nice change though. One that (and this is me keeping in mind the cartoon and musical) isn’t above tricking/TROLLING her specific genie.

Also that version of ‘Friend like me’ would be freaking hilarious.

Hey, Rose! @furornocturna was wondering if we could include her ghost OC Daemyra as a cameo in the CU Beetlejuice AU.

We could! ^_^ Daemyra would be a perfect fit.

Actually awhile ago, I was wondering if the movie!Juno and the Musical!Juno should be separate characters for the AU since movie!Juno is far nicer than musical!Juno. Even though she looks more like musical!Juno it would be amusing if Ribble was movie!Juno. IDK who else at the moment. (Unless @furornocturna‘s Daemyra would be a better fit).

Musical!Juno is made out to be supremely powerful and I have a weird feeling she might be the head honcho/ruler of the Netherworld compared to her movie counterpart and I think it was heavily implied that she was the one who forced Beetlejuice into the state he’s in at the start of the musical. (Banished in a state similar to ghosts, unable to be seen, unable to scare anyone like he likes, etc. I’m still not 100 percent sure what the deal is, but the way to break it is of course to have a living person say his name three times and I recommend listening to or finding a bootleg clip of ‘Say my name to hear just how dang DESPERATE/frustrated he gets when Lydia trolls him).

And considering that certain reveal regarding her relationship to… well, you know.

Uuh I would like that Beetlejuice platonic tangled au very much please make it happen please PLEASE

While I’m not dying to do a full on fan fic (partly because I’m not as knowledgable enough about certain parts of Beetlejuice (like the cartoon), and I have yet to actually see the musical in person) and I don’t have any ideas for drawings at the moment, I can share my ideas for that.

The ideas that I AM sure about:

-While the flower would still have the same healing powers, there is more emphasis on its apparent ability to revive the dead. This only works once and within a certain amount of time for whoever it is used on.

–So Emily (AKA Lydia’s mom) died by the time the flower potion was made, but the potion revived her in the nick of time and its powers passed onto Lydia (who was still alive because I think biology says there’s a limited amount of time to get the baby out of their mom if she dies while still pregnant).

–Since I’m using a lot from the musical verse, this AUs Gothel would be Juno (I don’t know as much about this incarnation as I’d like beyond the important things, but I’m open to using the good version from the film somehow). The added twist to the AU is that she did have a biological child at one point, but was cruel enough to leave him for dead at a very young age many years before Lydia was born.

-I don’t know when exactly Lydia’s birthday is. If I took liberties with it, it would be some time close to Halloween.

-Another unique addition to this AU is that when Lydia was abducted, so was her mother. (Partly for the reasons I had the last time I did a Tangled AU–I don’t see the kidnapper being willing enough to care for an infant). Lydia didn’t immediately get put in a tower and did get to know her mother for a certain number of years, but her mom was secretly killed off for good when she tried to escape with Lydia. After that, Lydia is locked up in the tower without knowing Juno killed her mother.

-Again, her hair is blonde due to the flower while her real hair color is black. She’s still a goth girl though.

-Charles finds out that Emily died for real when her body is found. He eventually remarries to Delia, but doesn’t want to give up finding his daughter.

-Beetlejuice (AKA the Flynn of this AU) is very much alive for the story. This is super important for later on. He’s probably the exact age Alex Brightman is/was when playing him (which was like, 31 or 32).

-Lydia trolls/blackmails him into helping her escape the tower and while they don’t exactly like each other at first, they do warm up to each other though their mutual love of the strange and unusual and scaring people to death.

–So...many...hair related puns.

–The festival/her birthday is mostly spent scaring a bunch of people and having a good time.

–Lydia is either turning 16 or 17 in this AU so… yeah, there’s a certain reason why I would have this be a platonic AU.

–Adam and Barbara are in this AU, though I haven’t settled on a role for them. They do die at some point, but this time around they get to come back to life thanks to Lydia.

-Actually, I’m highly sure they end up busting Beetlejuice out of jail, even if they don’t like him that much.

–The climax/final confrontation in the tower would go down a bit differently (since in the musical, Juno is actually Beetlejuice’s MOTHER, and he would be PISSED to find out the real identity of Lydia’s captor after all that she did to him, only to ruin another’s life in choosing power over him). It still ends how it does in Tangled though.

The ideas that I’m not as sure about, but am considering:

-I’m not dying to do the same time period as in Tangled because I already used it for the other Tangled AU I did with a friend. Ideally I would want to set it during the 20th-early 21st century because I’d love to keep Lydia’s love of photography for this one.

-Again, I’m not sure what Adam and Barbara’s roles are. I can’t see them as ‘palace guard’ type of people, but maybe more like ‘two people who got roped into all of this by sheer fate/tried to put a stop to Beetlejuice from running off with a certain object belonging to the Deetz family.’

-Not sure how the ‘Snuggly Duckling’ will go down. I’d take a guess and say residents from the Neitherworld would be there, but alive and well and most likely human if the cartoon were to come into play.
