You knew this land better than anything—the tall grass and blue-grey skies and meandering trails to the east—so intimately it was like the place was rolled up tight into a little ball tucked away as a piece of yourself, somewhere between your heart and your lungs and no less vital. But watching his retreating figure you felt your stomach sink and you realized, he’d made a place inside you too.

He couldn’t stay and you thought you couldn’t leave and he was the one who’d said it was for the best and now you realized he was full of shit for saying it.

You had this home memorized, embedded in your DNA, permanent—so surely you could take it with you wherever he led.

“Wait,” you shouted, and his face was wide open and wary as he turned back, just as scared as you.

🐌 What is one of your smallest writing goals?

A small writing goal I have for 2024 is to complete the two 'events' from last year that I haven't finished yet: the summer smooches and the smutsgiving ones. I only have a few prompts left for both of them, so it's definitely doable. I like doing the events, but then I feel like I get so wrapped up in those that I forget to work on my other stuff ... and then I fall behind and it's overwhelming. (There *is* another summer smooch one that will be posted in the next two weeks or so, but I had to wait until I got to a certain point in Liminality before I could release it)

👾 Do you have any "bad" writing habits you want to break? I don't know if it's an actual bad habit, but I want to get into the habit of plotting things. A lot of what I write is just sort of ... in the moment? And I've found that for the stories where I had things outlined at least a little (Liminality, The Truth is Out There, Aphelion, Competing For Christmas) things have actually flowed a little easier, which was nice. I just get kinda itchy when I'm working on outlines and not actually writing.

🥇 A headcanon about what they’re best at

Dieter - I feel like I know what he thinks he’s best at 😂 but in actuality - I think maybe it’s something different. We see in the film he’s previously been considered a great actor too. My headcanon is more around art though - I like this idea that actually his hobby of art is something he’s even stronger at than the pinnacles of acting he’s reached (already achieved an Oscar, etc.) Hopefully that makes sense?

Reader - accents. I just headcanon she’s a bit of a chameleon with accents and dialects which has stood her in really good stead as an actress and she can basically mimic or adapt to different accents really well.

Also, side note - thank you so much, that means a lot. I’ve been so worried about Your Hand In Mine and it means a lot to me. Parts of it have been in my mind for months and months and I’m finally bringing it all together which can be a bit nerve wracking. 🩷🩷🩷

A while back I had this random thought of showing up to a wedding for one of the Delta Force guys, not having seen them in forever.

Frankie was a former boyfriend, then went separate ways and lost contact.

But there’s still something there that gets awakened at said wedding. Lots of eyes meeting from across the room, catching up, and maybe a kiss.

Maybe I’ll add it to an idea I should explore sometime
