Considering I'm super disorganized about my art and don't post everything I draw (sometimes it stays just in my server or among friends, or I just don't show anyone because it's unfinished/I'm unsatisfied), I'll have to find a lot of stuff that I've forgotten about.

Actually, I can just show some stuff that I *haven't* posted! (Everything else I ever have should be here.) Some of this stuff is Krow before I added the white hair because I didn't have that idea until around April.

^ Appropriately titled "Krow Smug Bitch". Everyone has fun with the cowboy AUs so why can't I?

^ He got nervous about seeing Usagi/Yukito I suppose

^ This one is interesting. Originally it was supposed to be just Krow as a magical boy, but then it turned into a bit of a mythology AU. He's the son of Yatagarasu the Three-Legged Crow from Shinto myth. Wasn't quite sure about everything... this was probably the result of watching too much Kamichama Karin as a kid lol

^ For fans of Transformers - TFP Optimus Prime with good ol' canon CJ! I feel like they would get along. Something about that red-and-blue leader drew him in I guess.

^ This was actually my first pass at an older version design of Krow. This was a complete piece too, but I was unsatisfied within a week or two. You can still see that I kept some things, notably the piercings, beard, and the idea of tattoos, as well as the Leo-inspired shoulder pads. The tattoo designs changed and so did the armor color, but it was an interesting first try at the older design.

^ A second attempt and older Krow, I was getting closer. (Still love the fashion on this though.)

^ The point I realized that I can't draw this man thin and have to start drawing him beefier and more filled out more consistently because it would be a crime against god or something. Was still finalizing his tattoos at this point and playing around with the idea of white hair. Considered the idea of the Hamato crest tattoo near his heart before nixing it because it's too cheesy and the Hamato tattoo is something a lot of people do for older/future character designs.

^ Ninpo weapon design for Older Krow! Yes he has a cyan scythe (really more of a kusarigama since it has a chain and weight at the end). Yes it's cool as fuck. No you can't touch it.

He's basically a reaper and it plays into his whole aesthetic as a crow, which symbolizes an omen of death. Crows are also often seen with scythe and scarecrow imagery because they're related to harvests.

I don't know why I never posted this, it *looks* finished... I think there was something off about the anatomy and I intended to fix it and then forgot and ugh. But anyway! There you go.

^ A height chart for younger Krow and Yukito that I never quite finished. But it's interesting to see them to the actual scale that I imagine them to be - Krow is 5'6", and Yukito's height is reversed since he's 6'5". Since both are around 19 when they meet, they're at their full adult heights here. Long live your short king!

^ Older Krow with lightning gloves. Which doesn't make sense actually because his gloves are electrical insulators to keep himself from getting zapped from one of his attacks. But who cares about that! It's cool!

^ Scythe sketch. Just trying to get a feel for the vibe of how he wields one. His cape/cloak plus the scythe probably gives opportunity for some really cool directional flow to occur.

^ Something I doodled just the other day. Old Krow but more cartoony and goofy. Love this silly guy!

I'm sure there's many more that I've missed, probably lots of half-finished sketches and doodles, but this is a lot of what I've found.

More TMPH, I don’t know why I keep doodling this specific album, but yay. So! I decided to combine aspects of each outfit and mix ‘em together. Each of the jackets (Art and Nerd), The pants (Cage), the main body (Grew on me), and the scarf (Funky Jash).

This is turning into a Steven Universe situation.

And here is what I’d call, “The violent Heart attempts”, (or me trying to draw Heart fighting and never finishing it.)

Hi folks! Figured I might as well make a pinned post for this blog. I'm SoulfulCryptid and I like to make art! Most of it has gone unposted as that has been practice for me and I'm still figuring out how I want to make my art look. But I have fun with it!

I really like Sonic the Hedgehog, among a few other things you might see me make art for eventually... like fanart of SCP 049, Undertale, The Amazing Digital Circus, etc. I'm not limited to just liking those things but I was scrolling through my art folders and saw quite a few drawings for those. I can be very picky about what I decide to post, but I'm trying to curb my perfectionism a bit.

Hopefully I draw some more Sonic stuff I would feel like posting on here. I have made a lot of attempts at getting a good style for it, but my muscle memory and structure could use some work. As it is... I hope to at least 5 people like the art I make. Thank you and have some more art!

I will probably make separate posts for these ones on their own. But it did feel like a fun addition to my pinned post.

^^^ Here is the traditional art version and the one above it is the digitally colored one of it I made. Had to take liberties transferring the mediums. There are times I prefer my tradtional art from my digital as digital is much newer to me. (only started digital art around 2019 or 2020, I forget which year.)

Yeah so here's the stuff I recently doodled for my unfinished chapter of The Courtship of the God of Death, aka spoilers for what is essentially the entire chapter however keep in mind the details may change between this and the final version. I've finally figured out the content of the conversation, now it's just mixing in the draft for the beginning of the chapter, refining the dialogue and adding all that signature brooding Narinder point of view to it. And writing it. That's important.

Spoilers ahead for the chapter + transcribed the text because handwriting and sequence is all over the place

So each number in the text corresponds to the panel-not-panel because yeah that looks like spaghetti

Shamura: (rising from the waters of the fountain, the hands of the dead trying to pull them back under) Dearest brother, are you so lonely that you call upon those you cast away?

Narinder: Hmf! Be not foolish, Shamura.

Narinder: Do you not wish to learn of my exploits?

Narinder: How sweet victory tastes, and I am no less deserving of it now as I was on the day of my liberation.

Narinder: How proud you must be, having foreseen my victory.

Narinder: A pity your shortsightedness denied you and the other Bishops the opportunity to experience this New Age.

Shamura: Oh, pitiful God of Death—my dear brother Narinder, who waited so long—you claim satisfaction, though I find myself uncertain of your sincerity.

Shamura: Never did I see your fate beyond our defeat at the hands of your Lamb. Yet I fear your words are but a farce.

Shamura: You never found satisfaction no matter what you gained, poor Narinder. What perverted act of nature you committed rendered you incapable of it.

Shamura: What have you found that has finally granted that unattainable contentment?

Narinder: (slams hands onto the edges of the fountain to lean over Shamura, fingers curling into the stone)

Narinder: Freedom! Freedom from you! You and the rest of our ambitious siblings!

Narinder: How long was I held back by such complacency, such ignorance, especially from one such as yourself!

Narinder: (breathes)

Narinder: ...So, what say you, Bishop of Wisdom?

Shamura: ...

Shamura: Unchained One, were you offered the chance to return to that moment...

Shamura: ...would you still pay the price?

Narinder: ...

Narinder: You never understood. None of you understood.

Narinder: (leans in) What I discovered that day...Was what kind of God I truly was.

Narinder: I only wish that I wasted less effort on convincing the rest of you of my true potential! (accidentally labeled this 22 as well) Shamura: ...

Shamura: (raises one hand) Oh, dear distraught brother Narinder... (ok fml I can't draw hands but)

Shamura: (wraps hand around Narinder's fist) How I wish I did not discover that which foretold our doom that day./that which manifested within my mind's eye that dreadful day.

Shamura: Mayhap, we could have forged a different path.

Narinder: (sees their hands together)

Narinder: (stares, conflicted)

Narinder: (before pulling his hand away in rejection of his sibling's words)

Narinder: Begone from my sight, Shamura. No longer shall I entertain your conceit.

Shamura: (pulled back under) Farewell, brother. Narinder: (stands)

Narinder: (looks at his hand)

Narinder: (then drops it, staring into the water)

And here is part two, didn't write dialogue however it's supposed to be another/similar version of the conversation, except more...malicious:

So just the text I had there 2: maybe Shamura should start rotting in this sequence? 3: appears as though they are rising out of the water, their hand reaching out 4: attempting to figure out how to look afraid/angry (?) 5: moves to grab 6: throws into the water 7: breathing heavily after in an attempt to calm down

Answering a few asks about character's identities [+etc] in Cyclogenesis, bc it’s pride month and why not.

a couple of these get a little gay so if that’s not your vibe, then here’s your heads up, since im fairly sure most ppl r here for the shitposts lol

preliminary disclaimer: cyclogenesis isn’t meant to reflect canon, it’s my lil sandbox to explore ideas that uses giant monsters as the primary actors.

secondary disclaimer: so, none of these guys are human and therefore probably wouldn't use/understand human words/concepts in relation to identity, but i understand the question/s and i'll try to answer in the simplest terms

okay, 1:

this is a really interesting question [to me at least] because there isn’t really a “correct” answer. There's too many factors at play within Iris and she doesn't really have time to form an identity. I think ppl are free to interpret my version of the character however they like!

I use she and they when talking about Iris because 2 of the 4 components that comprise her feel very strongly about being referred to as such and it feels weird [to me] to do otherwise.

This one caught me off guard tbh, I’m wondering what tipped you off haha. My IRL friends joke that she is, but in-universe, the turtle is unlabelled and does not actively seek out any kind of companionship. Although, that may be mostly due to her being a machine and not wanting to have to outlive somebody. If she were to one day have a partner in defending the universe, they’d probably need to have a lot in common with her and be pretty much immortal.

How many Gamera shitposts? Oh. So Many. Like, I maybe post 15-20% of the stuff I draw. Albeit, most of the stuff i don't post is unfinished, too cringe, too stupid, or some cursed combination of all three lol. I try to polish some of it up and post it in big piles.

and finally, the first one I got and the one I was most worried about: 4.

so I have actually been asked this (privately) before, which is funny because while i have been intentionally kinda vague about them, I’ve also only ever referred to them as allies or friends. But then again, they live on a spaceship together so I understand why there's a question.

I mean, I could go on a whole long tangent about how they’re both aliens with alien ideas about relationships and gender, or how Viras‘ history and being a composite complicates everything and makes it hard to define exactly what’s going on. But to be honest, that’s mostly just me trying to skirt around the question and over-complicating things when the answer is yes. Well….sorta. They’ve got a long history, are certainly deeply codependent and are very invested in keeping the other alive. I have a lot written for them in terms of the background for how they ended up so close and I try to lightly sprinkle it into my posts, but again I know that’s not really what most people are interested in and I don’t want to bore them. Depending on how this post goes over, I might make their dynamic a bit more overt in some of my comics…. They are the most fun to draw interacting and I find there to be something oddly wholesome about them.

How do u answer so many asks with art so quickly (ToT) i have like 8 for yellow-hollow that have been there for months bc i put too much pressure on answering them (;_;)...tell me your ways

I can’t lie I really do feel for you. I’ve been taking my little breaks of course.. it’s a lot to start unlearning. The main reason I’ve started to post is so that I don’t judge myself too harshly, and I hope others can learn the same. There will always be someone on the planet that loves what you do.

With valentines asks I made most of them quick and simple by just being an above shoulder doodle. I can smash them out without worrying much.

You may notice with a lot of my art I don’t exactly take the time to erase all my mistakes / guidelines, my sketches are usually pretty quick. I don’t do line art, I have one layer, and if it looks good after a little bit of tidying up it’s what I consider finished at the moment.

I don’t pressure myself to make things “perfect” and “finished” exactly. Things don’t have to be perfect to be enjoyable and I try to keep that in mind.

Sometimes I get down about how my art looks rough and “unfinished” but then I remember I’m the only one making the art the way that I am. I am in my own lane, it has never been a contest.

I’ve always been a pencil and paper artist but since I’ve gotten an ipad and a stylus it’s always been the same process. Colouring is just a quick dash or two since I personally prefer doing black and white stuff.

If I ever feel doubtful of what I make I step back and listen to some good music. If I’m not feeling inspired or nothing looks good then I leave it for the next day. Sometimes things look better when you give it a day and a second take.

I wish I had something more meaningful and wisdomly to share, but keep in mind asks are optional. The deadlines are not real. Nobody expects you to be on time. Better late than never. Time’s a construct. And most importantly: if you’re not having fun with it, it may not be the right time to tackle it just yet. If you do not feel good about yourself, you will not feel good about what you create.
