i think one big building is definitely more common than not, especially in areas with harsh winters or extreme weather. most ppl i know went to school in one building. but I think what the other anon was getting at is that you shouldn’t be worried about matching the most common thing in america with your build! there are different experiences everywhere.

yeah it definitely makes sense that in certain places in the US schools would be more open/outdoors. especially in warmer states! it may also be an age and budget thing. i guess a school with a poorer community or less funding (and lets be honest, from what i hear america has horrible public funding for schools), would maybe not have the luxury of a garden / multiple playground / extra facilities/ space. and with it being an age thing, america was colonised a few years before australia, so maybe some of your schools are also super old 😭 if any of them have lasted that long...
