Barun Sobti bagged a Filmfare for Kohrra 🎉
I am honestly so happy for him because he’s really been delivering kickass projects from Tu Hai Mera Sunday to Asur (and we all know he wasn’t quite recognized as “actor” in IPK despite giving a great performance opposite the absolutely amazing and stellar Sanaya Irani).
So I’m just happy that once again it’s been proven that Indian Television has a fab assortment of actors and the film industry needs to give them a chance - a chance outside their tiny pool of network.
Cause from SRK to Ram Kapoor - all these actors have had their humble beginnings from a small telly.
Especially when actors can perform under rigorous pressure and changing scripts - you can imagine what they can deliver in a controlled environment with a watertight script.

RANI MAIN HU TU MERA RAJA JODI APNI GHAZAB LAGE ISHQ KARUNGI MAIN ITNA JYADA PYAR MANGEGA HAR DAFFE.
☾♔; November 20, 2023 ☾♔; 10:53am ☾♔; sotd: Chaleya (from Jawan) ☾♔; cotd: Gojo Satoru ☾♔; High Fashion Layout, I Guess, IDK ☾♔; Birthday Playlist/Miseries
𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞: lyrics from "Faraatta", too lazy to translate
my yearly birthday playlist set, lol. I have no idea what's going on with this, I was trying to reflect my Gojocoping/Jawan whoring mood, but idk. Oh well, whatever.
It's been a shitty ass birthday month this year. We had plans to go to Laudree, but everyone's sick, so we can hardly go and cough on everything. There was the usual family + bestie crew for the dinner party, I made everyone watch Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. A non-usual crewmate, my mom's old bestie came to visit and stay over, and mixed with the shittyness of the month and being sick, I got more pissed off than usual about it. Because she came, the sunday plans to go to the mall with dad and cousin to buy OUR birthday gifts (cause all of three of us, plus my bil next weekend, all are nov babies) were abandoned cause my mom made dad take her and her bestie to costco for whatever. Like, we had to adjust all our birthday plans multiple times this month cause everyone's been sick af, and that is unavoidable, but this uninvited guest was avoidable! even if we didn't end up making it to the mall or wherever, it would've been cause WE were too tired or lazy, not because some fucking rando wanted to go somewhere else. like, this lady has 3 grown ass kids, all living in the same damn city, but she chose to invite herself over to stay the weekend of MY birthday. I didn't fucking invite her and at least this time of the year I should get a choice about it. I am being petty about it, but it's my birthday, I get to be petty. The lil cuz and I were gonna buy like a gojo plushie or a pochita for her, and finally some Sumeru merch at Sukoshi, and lush and sephora, and I was SUPPOSED to finally get my new phone this weekend. I actually need it now cause the back of my phone is coming off, and there's no time this week cause MORE guests, and this time it's my dad's shitty ass youngest brother (like okay, as a fellow youngest spoiled child, I understand why he's like that, but he's a 40-50 year old man, grow up my dude). //////////////////sigh///////////////// lowkey should've taken up my sister's offer to spend my b-day, bil's b-day, and american thanksgiving with them, but papa and me let our passports expire and it's too late now to make it in time for the events. lolz.

Hey jalebi! Your thoughts on Swami track is absolutely fuckin true I never had closure with it or even how Khushi was insulted before however I went on forgiving as plot carried on. But I always felt The toxic masculinity Arnav carried is NOT something a naive girl like khushi can understand because it is soo deeply rooted, Khushi has barely seen the real world where Arnav was grown and experienced like fine wine which I think is a tad unfair. The writers might have thrown it under rug but honestly I wish they could have handled it better As after heer-ranjha there was more potential to build a strong story line leading to truth indirectly but however they followed loop. The show is still much talked or more as it's world wide telecasted in diff countries . However I wish the writers have thought through. And Anyhow I always loved your writings you subtly and strongly make straight point , Also heard you have interviewed Barun sobti😅 congratulations on your fan moment and you have handled it pretty well but one answer intrigued me was when he said he was just like Arnav when he was playing the role made me bit sad for his wife because she looks quite lovely and chilled.
Hey Anon!
Ugh, I love we bond over our thoughts on Swami tracks cause what the-!
Heer Ranjha was SO powerful and that following with Sundari Shaitaan was BRILLIANT but what did all of that lead to? *visible shudders*
Haha I'm glad you love this crazy corner of the next.
I am so glad you loved the interview, my heart gets so happy every time I hear it! Haha I think what he meant he understood that guy a LOT and he was like him in terms of being honest.
His other character was someone who was forced by his fam to marry one woman and he kept seeing his girlfriend on the side.
Whereas Arnav is direct, honest to his family about his viewpoints, cares shit about unsolicited advice and once is aware that he loves Khushi - he's fully committed to her regardless.
And that is, what I think, Barun is talking about. Cause the character he actually is the most like is Arjun from Tu Hai Mera Sunday.
So, at that time (2011) between the man child who couldn't decide between the women in his life (in Baat Humari Pakki Hai) and a steadfast character who eventually falls deeply in fall and is just a confident man in general (IPKKND) - he related to Arnav far more.
Ugh he and his wife are so adorbs, it's CUTE CUTE CUTE.
Love,
JWB

Oh I just watched Tu Hai Mera Sunday on discovering that it’s on Netflix (and your last ask) and what an amazing film. Sort of falls in the Piku/Queen genre and such a treat. If you wouldn’t mind would love a mini review of what you liked!!
Things I liked a lot about the movie:
Sobti playing against type (from what I’d seen him in so far.) It was nice to see him play a casual, chill, genuinely nice dude. I really love Soft BoisTM
Avinash Tiwari makes a very likable debut, and his plot was in equal parts hilarious and touching. Quite nicely written, to maintain that balance.
The camaraderie among the friends - who don’t seem to have much in common upon first sight. I love platonic love and adopted family waala bonds so much.
The female leads were very refreshingly regular woman. They looked like regular women, acted like regular women... Not “movie women”.
The romantic connections (Arjun/Kavya; Rashid/I forget Rasika’s character’s name) were heartwarming because it came from a place of selflessness and empathy from the men. Both of them treated Appa and her children with compassion and didn’t other them. It was not an impediment.
There are no overdramatic romantic arcs. I guess only Arjun/Kavya’s had a lil bit of angst to it, but the issue there is resolved quite quickly and sweetly.
I like movies that showcase the geographical location as a character itself. I’m not from Mumbai and haven’t been there for a very long time, but I felt the movie captured the spirit of the city well, from the bheed-bhaad and lack of space to the small colony gallis. I like when I feel like I’m part of the atmosphere/milieu.
If you’d like to watch another movie with quite similar vibes that is criminally underrated, please check out Little Zizou! I really really love that one!

Hey all,
At last, it is the 21st of August once again. A day to appreciate a particular brilliant actor and jovial human being. He's charismatic, hard-working, inspirational, fun loving, handsome, kind hearted, talented and oh so much more.
This is just a post from my behalf to celebrate this man and for all the times he makes us laugh, cry, and fall in love with him a bit more every time he graces our screens, reel/real.
Dear Barun Sobti, I hope you know you were the first man I fell in love with <3
Happy Birthday :)
