How to make a neat yellowfin tuna tank top / how to put a yellowfin tuna onto anything (splatoon inspired)
print the pdf ive added to this post
stick the printer paper to some card / heavy drawing paper
c a r e f u l l y cut out the coloured bits on the firsth three cards, i used an exacto knife
use the third image as a guide
then sellotape the light blue / grey one to your fabric, mark the corners
paint
unstick, stick the yellow stencil e x a c t l y on the marks
paint,
unstick, stick the dark blue stencil e x a c t l y on the marks
paint
let dry, iron with a sheet of baking paper

The sharptail mola casually nearly doubled the width of the canvas, haha. The one here is 340 cm long (max length rounded up; 337 cm is largest measured)! While it’s not as long as the black marlin, its sheer roundness adds to its overall size. Also featuring a bigeye tuna at 2.5 meters (max length), a midnight parrotfish at 60 cm (average length), a leafy seadragon at 30 cm (longer than average), a comet goldfish at 30 cm as well (average length), and a koi carp at… if I recall 55 cm? (average size of Japanese koi) There’s also myself (160 cm tall) and a banana (18 cm long) for scale recommended by someone in another post!
At first I was dreading drawing the leafy seadragon, but as it turns out its leafy appendages follow a certain clear pattern.
I thought it would be fun to draw some fish I like in proper scale to one another. You never really put two and two together about the absolute sizes of some animals until you see them compared to other things! I've already done four off the top of my head:
An Atlantic sturgeon that's 3 meters long (modern Atlantic sturgeons rarely reach sizes over 2.4 m, but historically they could be up to 4 meters. I settled on an in between length), a northern pike that's 120 cm long (upper estimate), a Siberian sturgeon that's 2 meters long (absolute max size), and a neon tetra that's 3 cm long (average length)!
