Turtlepaw's Talent

Turtlepaw is struggling.

She tries her best- really, she does- but every minute of her warrior training feels wrong. She’s so close to her assessment, but she knows she won’t pass it. How is she meant to be a warrior when she can barely land a blow? Every moon, the gap between her and her sister grows wider, and she can barely stand it.

Creekgaze is an amazing mentor, too, always explaining things in ways she can understand, but it’s like her brain and her paws are at war. She wants to disappear every time she scares off another piece of prey, or takes another hit during her spars. She knows she’s letting him down. She knows she can do better. And yet, every day she comes back to camp with nothing to show for it.

”At least I’m good at this,” she sighs to Siltwhisker as she delicately harvests herbs. Siltwhisker insists she helps him, always claiming she’s the most careful. He’s probably just being nice, but Turtlepaw appreciates it anyway. “Maybe I’ll just never become a warrior, and do apprentice tasks forever. I’ll be Turtlepaw the elder,” she jokes, but she can’t keep the bitterness out of her voice.

Siltwhisker gives her an odd look, and Turtlepaw withers. Of course Siltwhisker wouldn’t let her bother him forever, even as a joke. She opens her mouth to apologize, but Siltwhisker speaks first.

“Is being a warrior what you actually want?” He asks, tilting his head slightly. He looks straight at Turtlepaw, but his eyes seem unfocused, like he's staring past her instead.

“O-of course! It’s what I’ve been training for, isn’t it?” Turtlepaw sounds unconvinced, even to herself. She waits for Siltwhisker to respond, but he just stares at her, his expression unreadable. 

“...Well, it’s not like I have other options now. I can’t just keep being a burden to the Clan forever,” she mumbles defensively.

“First of all, you wouldn’t be a burden even if you just sat around and ate freshkill all day,” Siltwhisker mews, placing his tail across her shoulders. “And second… You do have options. It’s not too late to train as a medicine cat, if you’re interested.”

It’s Turtlepaw’s turn to go silent. She opens and closes her mouth a few times, searching for words that don't come. Honestly, it’s an… appealing offer. She’s always in the medicine den anyway, so much that Coralpaw complains about the scent stuck in her fur. And she’s about a thousand times better at finding herbs than she is at finding prey. Still, she’s already been training for four moons… “Is that really okay?” she wonders out loud.

“It’s actually not uncommon,” Siltwhisker shrugs. “I was lucky. I knew when I was a kit that I wanted to be a medicine cat… or rather, I wanted to be like Marshleap,” He admits, a flash of fondness lighting up his eyes. “But the medicine cat before him, Pearlheart, only started training at twelve moons.”

Turtlepaw swallows, her heart fluttering in her chest. “... I don’t know. Wouldn’t I just get in the way…?” she asks hoarsely.

Siltwhisker’s golden eyes shine. “If you did, it’d be the very first time,” He purrs warmly. “Even as a kit, you never made a mess. That’s more than I can say for myself.”

Turtlepaw smooths the fur on her chest, overcome with a mix of pride and embarrassment. She finishes collecting the bundle of sage at her paws, not quite looking at Siltwhisker. “...If it’s really allowed… I think I’d like that,” She meows shyly.

“Then pick those up, and let’s go speak to Foamstar.”

DIFFERENT LIVES AU - RIVER

Second to last kitties from the AU!

Rusty is mocked for his fur going white in places, and flees to the water he loves. He is found by Crookedstar, who promptly brings the lil guy home. He is trained up by Leopardfur, and falls in love with Silverstream…but Leopardfur nearly falls to Tigerstar’s charms, and Crookedstar dies helping kill the tyrant leader. With Leopardfur untrusted, Silverstream takes her father’s place. Leopardfur promises to be more mindful of trickery…

But she never changed. She trains up Otterpaw, but secretly grooms her to think herself less than worthy, less than beautiful…all for revenge against the clan and cats who killed Tigerstar. However, Otterpaw’s friendship with the three legged Shrewpaw, and her family’s desperate efforts to get through her depression, give her the strength to tell her parents what Leopardfur has been doing, both to her and to the three kits left by their sorrowful mother. Leopardfur is slain trying to kill Flickerheart, and the clan finally journeys to their new home, as found by Otterpaw’s brother Turtlepaw. Shrewpaw is nearly left behind by Thunderclan’s Froststar, but Silverstar promptly steals the tomcat.

Hollyfreeze is named for her father’s lost sister, and for her mentor Hawkfrost. She falls for the former loner Berryhound, and when the Dark Forest rises, meets them with the fire her grandfather was named for.

Turtlepaw is a trans tom cat who uses she/her pronouns. Her fur is a grey with vitiligo and ticked tabby coat with a mostly white body, and her eyes are dark blue. She bears multiple nasty scars on her oriental form. Her fur is somewhat long and has a fluffy texture, and she keeps it dirty. She dislikes rain fall, and loves trees. She is somewhat bold, though other cats quickly describe her as severely toxic when asked to describe a flaw. She is the best guard. She will be a lost elder assistant who hates her job.

She likes to make traps. She will heal with time.

goreclan part two! second half of year one. and oh boy this was 6 moons full of romance

Roachstar - leader of GoreClan. bloodthirsty. has been made the mentor of her daughter, Wolfpaw, who she no longer dislikes! unfortunately Wolfpaw does not feel the same way

Daisyhollow - deputy of GoreClan. bloodthirsty. mentoring his son, Turtlepaw. he had a rough few moons, the man would not stop getting injured so Roachstar had to take over training for both of their kids

Cougardawn - medic of GoreClan. lonesome. due to Daisyhollow’s aforementioned constant injuries, as well as a few other cats who we’ll get to soon, poor Cougardawn has been overworked these past few moons. i imagine he is very tired. he wears laurel now, which i put around his wrist like a bracelet

Leafwhisker - warrior of GoreClan. fierce. in a shocking turn of events, Leafwhisker and Splashheart became mates. i drew them looking like a cute couple here but i checked their relationship right before i posted and turns out they hate each other so uh. impending divorce ig

Splashheart - warrior of GoreClan. bloodthirsty. got together with Leafwhisker and got into a whole bunch of fights with rogues. ended up gaining a scar from one of these fights

Weaselbloom - warrior of GoreClan. shameless. she’s a warrior now! and she immediately became extremely pathetic and rude. said something rude to Roachstar’s face. also tripped over a rock and sprained her ankle in front of Braveclaw, who she has a bit of a crush on

Braveclaw - warrior of GoreClan. charismatic. she also graduated! for some unknown reason she is captivated by Weaselbloom’s swagless look and cringefail demeanor, like she has a massive crush on her

Thymepaw - apprentice of GoreClan. fierce. got apprenticed to Weaselbloom. has been doing extremely well in training and seems to be gaining a lot of confidence and skill. started wearing a moth wing. has a crush on Wolfpaw

Bristlepaw - apprentice of GoreClan. adventurous. got apprenticed to Braveclaw. will not stop misbehaving and breaking the code. has hunted on another clans territory on literally every hunting patrol

Turtlepaw - apprentice of GoreClan. loving. :(. he loves his family members so so much but none of them like him in return :(

Wolfpaw - apprentice of GoreClan. loyal. dislikes everyone in the clan, especially Roachstar and Turtlepaw. the only one she seems to have a positive relationship with is Thymepaw, who she has a mutual crush on

Whisperingkit - kit of GoreClan. inquisitive. found by Leafwhisker and Splashheart on patrol, an abandoned kittypet kit with a spiked collar

i do actually! i have some various clangen art that i drew just for myself/friends, and a couple drawings of jayfeather that i made for an au. here are my favs :D (under the cut because i realized there's actually a lot)

also realized I put all these drawings in reverse chronological order to me drawing them. so the stuff on top looks the most like what my art style is like now, and it slowly devolves lol

that's the end of the jayfeather au, here's clangen. this is Bonepelt and Cranekit, they were besties :D

and finally, BEHOLD. my very first clangen art. I didnt even play the game at the time, I drew it because my sibling kept telling me about their cats and I got attatched :) this is the cranky old man Fallenheart and his adopted daughter Redkit.

Turtlecrawl is such a funny name. Leafstar looked at this TORTOISESHELL cat named TURTLEpaw during her warrior ceremony and said “You know what. It’s not enough that you look like a turtle. I think you walk kinda funny, too.”

Between that and “Pigeonfoot” Leafstar really has been on a roll with the weird and slightly insulting names recently lol
