How to Draw a Lily by HalanLore

Video Process

Step 1 Sketch a lily Lily petals tend to be a little stiff as if they've been starched. So it's good to make them a little stiff and floppy only near the ends where the tips of the petals taper and the structural integrity weakens.  Pro Note: Lilies have six petals, sometimes I miscount myself. Step 2 Do the flatting. This is a pretty basic white lily, so for the white to show up I turned the background of the flower a different color. Lower the opacity of the outline and in this case I made the lineart black. Step 3 Add some Shading This lily has yellow in the throat of the flower, I add a light dusting at this stage so it can be shaded over and prevent it from looking out of place later. Step 4 Add More Shading + Highlight Use shading to bring out the form of the petals. Lily petals are a little stiff but they are also very soft. Add more shading towards the end of the petals to create the illusion of a bend in the petal. The petals are highlighted in the middle of the petal. Step 5 Add shading and details Added little decorative lily leaf under a petal. This step really added a lot mroe details and enhanced the 'petal' texture' Step 6 Add more detail, shading The penultimate step. More details, more shading, more enhacing. Darkened the corners fo the background so the flower looked like it might be glowing/really cool Step 7 Fine tune details Also make last step extra large so it looks important Made in Paint Tool Sai

Happy "almost friday" loves! #tutorialthursday . Here's a mini-tutorial on my current crochet faux-hawk protective style. Hair used is your everyday kanekalon braiding hair from my fav beauty supply spot @hairsations. I prefer this style to a weave because 1.) It's cheaper ($20!), 2.) I still have access to my full scalp for hassle-free shampooing, oiling & moisturizing purposes. 3.) I can take it out in a month without feeling guilty over how much it cost to install 😊 (leaving hair/wefts in for long periods of time drys/thins your natural hair, causing breakage) 😱 CROCHET TIPS ⬇⬇⬇: . * Foundation is KEY!!! I usually start with 2 side braids (nearest to the ears) that connect to a medium braid at my nape, allowing for it to be styled in a ponytail. . * Criss-crossing the front braids will hide the back braids, or else u risk having a visible part from the front 2 the back 😨 . *The #invisibleknots method helps achieve a more natural look where the hair is going to be parted. I can part the hair on the sides or the middle due to this method. My leave-out hair is what will stay visible (Mohawk!) . * Blow drying the hair is what straightens it, similar to hot water dipping. Be sure to use the highest setting, and QUICKLY pass it along the hair, or it'll melt off!!! .Hope it helps! THANKS 4 READING!!!

#TutorialThursday . Beware the death marzipan almonds! . . . Some of my calorie intake in Europe was from foraged food. Berries in the Arctic Circle, nuts further south in France and Spain. Finding walnut trees further in Spain brought back memories of growing up in Iran, collecting fresh walnuts, breaking into them, eating the delicious nut and spending a day or two with brown stained fingers. Amazing how the taste was so different to dried walnuts. Much mellower, less tannin like and way easier to peel away that dry and bitter skin. A big contrast to drinking water from half full bottles on road sides and trails! (at Pyrénées-Orientales)

Let's Draw A Rose by HalanLore

Step by steps are kind of a jokey thing here, but still good. Mostly follows my mental process of failure, no wait I got it! Wheee I did it!!! <3 Step 1.) Locate a reference image and pretend you know what you are doing while trying to sketch it. (potentially fail miserably) Step 2.) take skills garnered from step 1 to essentially redraw the rose in a much better manner. Step 3.) Pick appropriate colors and flat in the rose. Step 4.) Add some shading, realize you fail miserably at rose proportions. Step 5.) Decided you chose the wrong Rose color after all and use the Hue/Saturation settings to change it!  Use a luminosity layer to add some highlights, add more shading. Step 6.) Do some more shading. Use the airbrush tool to create a gradient highlight leading top to bottom. Then do the same with a gradient shadow from bottom to top. Add more highlight/shadow.  Try to follow contour of Rose. Step 7.) Cheer gleefully! You have made a rose! Overlay effect with dark red, and lilac for rose, and yellow for leaves add pleasing glow.
