The Fonz And The Happy Days Gang - 4 DVD set - CBS Home Entertainment - released November 7, 2019 - 609 minutes - 24 episodes   CBS released this set as well as the Season One set of Laverne & Shirley In The Army. Neither set includes the 8 Season Two episodes of Laverne & Shirley In The Army that include The Fonz and Mr. Cool. It’s Day 04 of “Quarantine” and today I decided to start #Dallas (The Revival.) The series ran from June 13th, 2012 - September 22nd, 2014 and aired on TNT. I didn’t watch the series during its initial run, which is odd to me because I enjoy the work of Jesse, Jordana, Josh and Kuno. I should say that I’ve never watched the original series, so I’m watching this revival with open eyes and thoughts. Currently watching the first episode and I’m enjoying it so far, can’t wait to see Kuno Becker make his debut. Why we can’t have nice things

So I just got an email from the website TV Shows on DVD.com. For the last number of years (I think close to 10), it’s been my go-to site for getting heads up about upcoming releases, and I’ve submitted a number of items related to Doctor Who, etc. over the years. It was via that site that I learned the release dates for Victoria on Blu-ray, for example, and Death Comes to Pemberley, etc. At one point the site was connected to either TV Guide or one of the Los Angeles newspapers (I forget which), though I think it’s been independent for a while.

According to an email sent out to all registered users this morning, due to a data hack, the site has been closed permanently. They still plan to keep posting stuff on social media, but I don’t do Twitter and Facebook I try to avoid (especially these days), and even if I did, the functionality of being able to make an alert list so I get an email when a show I want announces a release has been lost, which is a shame.

Fortunately, the password I used for the site was unique for that page, so I’m not worried about the hack (if you happen to have a membership to the site and used your TVSODVD password anywhere else, though, you’re being advised to change it now). But I am sad that we’ve lost what I considered to be a handy service because someone decided to mess around.

Could the different release schedule provide hints on the much-delayed South Park RPG?

This is VERY surprising news. In a shocking turn of events, South Park’s 20th Season will be out on Blu-Ray and DVD on June 13th and according to TVShowsonDVD, there’s also gonna be a special vinyl-sized package available only at Best Buy. You can check out preview stills of everything down below.

The reason why the release is a big surprise is, because, in years past, the home releases for prior seasons of South Park would come out just before the season premiere of the new season. This release schedule could allude to the fact that another major South Park release could be coming in the fall, possibly the constantly delayed South Park: The Fractured But Whole video game, and while that’s just conjecture at this point, if you look at the special features, you’ll note that trailers and footage from the game is featured along with all 10 episodes of the show’s 20th season and a whole bunch more:

With the most recent events going on with the world, (Coronavirus/Day 02 of quarantine) I decided to start this new blog. I’ll be documenting my thoughts on some of my TV Shows on DVD. I decided to start this journey with “The Ashlee Simpson” show, that ran from June 16th 2004 - March 30th 2005 on MTV. The show documents the early stages of Ashlee Simpson’s music career, I didn’t get to watch the show when it first aired. So this was my first time watching it and let’s just say it’s been interesting watching Ashlee at such a young age. The show also showcases Ashlee’s relationships with Josh Henderson & Ryan Cabrera and her famous performances on SNL and the Orange Bowl. Funimation has announced the release date and pricing for Speed Racer: The Complete Series.  The series will be available on Blu-ray and DVD with an MSRP of $29.98 and $24.98 respectively on May 30. The release will only contain the English dub and is confirmed to not have any subtitles.

TVShowsOnDVD Shuts Down

The website that has been a staple in all things related to TV show home video releases since 2001 has officially shut down as of yesterday evening. The site had been temporarily shut down for several days with a notice of "site maintenance" being the reasoning. However, on May 24th, a notice was posted in its place by site creator, Gord Lacey, that he and David Lambert (site director) have decided to take the site down permanently. He also went on to state that they will keep the Facebook and Twitter accounts active and do their best to report news on there, though, it will not be as frequent. 

For members of the site, an email was sent out today informing them of a security breach that had taken place sometime between January and May of this year. An unauthorized party had gained access to private information of members including names, usernames, passwords, and dates of birth. They advised members to change their passwords if they are the same on other accounts and to keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Considering Lacey and Lambert took this serious enough to take the site down permanently, I’d advise doing the same.

This is a very unfortunate loss considering how informative and influential TVShowsOnDVD.com has been for fans of TV. They helped shine a light on long-unreleased series like The Wonder Years and Batman (1966), both of which have since seen home releases. They made sure everything they posted was informative, correct, and helpful. And they even featured sales for all of us that like to spend on a budget. Losing them is also a bit personal since they have been the #1 site I have visited daily for ten years and nothing will come close to replacing them. There are some substitutes, of course, that will have to do; the digital bits, blu-ray.com, and DVDsReleaseDates.com. While it’s unsure if one of the other sites will help fill the void left by TVShows, one thing is certain, this marks the end of an era.
