Jesus tap dancing Christ, just read someone in the tags of a shitty anti-Billy post saying that Max would celebrate July 4th as the happy day she got rid of Billy.

Like, mate, did we watch the same show? Did we watch the same scene? Did we hear Max read the same letter to her brother? Did we have to contend with the same musical choice about making a deal with God and so much hate for the ones we love and switching places and not really wanting to hurt each other but still doing it?

Did anything of what happen to Max in season 4 even enter your empty skull, just to twirl around the pneumatic vacuum in a sad dance, and exit from the same hole it entered, leaving nothing behind?!

People (billy antis) in this fucking fandom just HAVE TO BE kids. They just REFUSE to see situations, scenes and all if it's not in the surface, if it's not superficial. They ignore EVERYTHING what dacre said about billy, they ignore everything what he said about Neil, they ignore everything what he said about the kids, they are so used people on internet trying for some reason being perfect and excluding every behavior that shows their humanity bc its way better pretend to be a perfect-robot, that they just forget that people have flaws, that people are built different, that traumas can change someone in a lot different ways, but, no, they PREACH the same fucking discourse.

They even can like really try to prove their arguments, it's just copy and paste the same shitty reasons.

Two facts, that is interesting about them, a lot of them loooove Eddie, I like Eddie too, but they just hc personality traits about billy in Eddie. Like, "oh Eddie loooves fix cars", since when? Why? Because he connected two wires? Fanarts of him dressed as a mechanic...are u fr? And, a lot of them, the same people who are "boohoo Billy's a psychopath abusive 😔😔" are watching and making edits about him. Not edits like sexualizing him, it's like, harringrove edits, showing how his parents fucked up with him, like, WHY ARE U THERE? Idk man, for someone who's saying that this character is that bad, u are too much into him.

This madness again...

Been running into problems with fandom Discords.

I’ve been given warnings because of assumptions about my stances on things. Not what my actual stances on things are. Doesn’t matter if I’m very specific with my wording, somehow that keeps getting missed. (I say “some”, I get accused of implying “all”. I say something is a “false equivalent”, I get accused of “saying they’re the same thing”. THAT level of not reading what I write.)

I think I might need to start my own Avatar Discord server at this rate. I’m tired of walking on eggshells around people that assume random things about me that make no sense to paint me as some kind of bigot.

And also won’t see the irony and hypocrisy in them being in a fandom that’s got a thematic element (among others) of the bias of our own cultures and perspectives blinding us from seeing the harm we do. Encourages us to question what teaches us to other, categorise our in-groups as superior in a hierarchy. To not be a cup that’s already full. Leave a little bit of room. Open your mind to other angles.

Also, you know, the director of the movies in said fandom knew one of the victims for 25 years, and the movies themselves being two of the three highest grossing of all time raking in a combined nearly 5 and 1/4 BILLION dollars...

Also is the section of the fandom mainly focusing on the villains of said movies. Who have all sorts of layers of nuance to them.

My angle just so happens to be that 4 people being duped into their deaths by negligent manslaughter is tragic and their loss of life beholds a basic level of respect. If not for them but for the people that knew them left behind. The people that could have been on the Titan instead of them grappling with the reality that maybe people would be behaving like this if it was them down there. That they were so close to it being them.

But no. Apparently valuing human life earned me the title of “bootlicker” and got me accused of somehow not valuing the lives of other people that died elsewhere. 

What? 

I’ve already stated I was waaaaay too close to ending people for real. And I’m not being tempted to go back into that mindset of “maybe some people SHOULD die”. No. No thank you. You go deluding yourselves all you want. I’ve been to that place. I came back. I’ve been fighting for over 15 years to keep myself out. I value all human life now. Even those others would call “bad” or “immoral” people. Because I almost was a bad person. Although some would say I am anyway because I had those thoughts and was very close to those actions and I’m not exactly “cured” of my pain fuelled blood rage even if I am trying my best to be mindful of it and provide outlets and relief through my arts and hobbies.

Glad they’ve never been there to be able to say those horrible things about the victims of a tragedy, but god damn, do they need a reality check. 

By dehumanising people you don’t like you make it easy to forget just how much like them you actually could be if you were in their place. 

Maybe if you’re one of those folks, you should go watch the video logs and news coverage of people that vent on the past Titan trips. Hear their stories, their voices, see their faces that could’ve easily been the ones all over the news right now.

Cure yourself of your delusion that “people didn’t die”.

Victim blaming ain’t cool. No matter how much money they had free to spend.

Anyway, yeah. Keep eyes out if you’re interested in that server. Sometimes the ones I’ve been on can be really fun but there’s this oppressive undercurrent that I really don’t get (maybe it’s that I don’t openly announce my neurodiversities or something I dunno I’m really confused about it). And I think in order to have a kind of space that isn’t like that, I’ll have to be the one to do it.

We’re fans of the big blue rootin tootin shootin aliens in the camo as well as the natives trying to fight off their combined oppressors (even if the first ones don’t fully realise it yet). Come on. Why are we like this with each other? I’m not making this a personal attack against the members of these servers, I still like being on them sometimes and the quality of the work people are sharing is beyond amazing. 

But they really gotta think about the environments they’re curating where I’m looking at posting and I find myself staring at the text box like “What if this is the last thing I write because somebody misreads it to mean the absolute opposite again?”.

johnathan has the support of his mother to get him through the shit with lonnie. while he may pick up slack to help take care of his younger brother, joyce makes sure that he has what he needs to take care of himself and look out for will.

He re-tortures and re-traumatizes El but it's for the greater good? Well, fuck that shit, fuck the Duffers and their whole writers' room, and fuck Brenner with a rusty pipe!

something i've learned from the fandom: as with anywhere else, there are lovely talented people in fandom that make great stuff, and there are also not great people (looking at you, assholes who wish harm on others because they like one character you dislike!), so the block button is your best friend. Also, squeeing in happiness at good art and fics is even sweeter when done in group! ❤️

this might sound harsh but honestly i think nate (and i guess crew-ra overall) is completely irresponsible for reinforcing the idea that abuse and bullying are okay because "they hit you because they like you". in a FUCKING KIDS SHOW. spop is teaching wrong ideas about romance and friendship to younger audiences, which is so infuriating because they still make it clear that shadow weaver is bad (which is correct) but they don't apply the same thing to catra who does similar if not worse things than SW does.

like i bet this show would've been a lot more harmful if i watched it when i was much younger. it would make me believe that abuse and bullying are okay because my abusers/bullies have tragic backstories that automatically excuse them, so i would be the one in the wrong.

First of all, w h y poeple feel this need to clean up characters¿ I think the character that suffer the most with that is Steve. Like, is kinda scary see how people infantilize him. Like, it's not even about fanfic where Steve is a uwu emotional babygirl and of course, THE MOM. Steve is pretty much a men, and adult, a p e r s o n, people discribe him or try hard to make him this little fragile little thing, AND FOR WHAT?

Second of all, in this thoughts of "I can't root for characters that are not the funny cool heros", are people out there, posting on that cursed social media called tiktok, Billy edits, like, the most heart aching edit, and not just one, they post a lot about billy, and they always say the same two things: I'm not a stan I hate him actually or he just looks cool here (or some lazy explanation for that) and, they *create* reasons to hate him, like, babe, u posting and talking about him 24/7, and my theory (the short version) is that those kids who hate and vilanize him so much is bc they got this white knight complex and, the most pure dumbness on them. Bc duffers wrote a bully with no depth to be the bad brother and a villain, dacre saw that and make him actually a person.

Like why u feel the need to clean up them or the need to *just* like those kind of characters¿

Earlier I was going to make a meme with innuendo of Ritch when I got a response to an earlier post I made about the nastiest of Neteyam simps while also writing my fanfic with oc Recoms and a horrible realisation shot to the forefront of my skull like a 9mm hollow point that made me immediately stop making the meme. Not sure if it’ll ever see the light of day or if I’ll even keep it on my PC anymore after this. Technically, it’s not explicit. But with what I’ve been thinking about and will explain here, it creeps me out at the moment to even look at it.

I despise those sexualising the kids, a lot. But there's still a stomach-churning thing I've realised upon further reflection especially after so many times watching The Way Of Water (think it’s been about 9 now I’ll need to do a recount)...

The Recoms are babies.

Just because they were grown for 20 years longer than usual, doesn’t make them any less babies. They woke up in adult bodies but having an adult body doesn’t make you an adult. Neither do adult memories make them adults because the implanted memories don’t make the person.

If they didn’t have those implants or they malfunctioned, what would they be? Unable to speak or walk or sit up or control waste functions even though they would have the muscle strength to because they're still newborn babies in adult bodies.

Would they still be hot then because they’ll still have those bodies?

Despite having an aesthetic, emotional, sensual and romantic attraction to Recom Quaritch myself, this is probably the main reason why I've been knocked physically ill sometimes by the extreme levels of thirst directed his way for the past few months as well as to all of the Recoms.

It's a 13 going on 30, Jack or Big situation. And people just can not shut up about their filthy, filthy fantasies everywhere I look.

And subconsciously in my brain I've been getting alarm bells going off because my stupid yet frustratingly insightful skull-blancmange can't help but notice and check philosophical, logical and moral inconsistencies like this.

But now it's not subconscious. It's conscious. It's melting my head. I can't keep quiet about it.

Are we honestly that much better than the ageing-up self-shippers? 

Yes, but still not clean of the same dirt, either. We're looking at technical toddlers here even if they don’t look or sound it. 

There's little hints peppered throughout the movie even that they're scared little kids sent out to fight and die when they're nowhere near ready to mentally under all that blue muscle and marine bravado, no matter how many adult experienced memories they upload into them. It definitely didn’t save most of their lives, for sure.

But nobody's thinking about all that. They just wanna see some blue meat and ponder angles and stripe patterns and I’m hunched over a bucket.

“Looks like an adult so is OK” is an excuse I regularly see online for those posting explicit content of canonically underaged characters that may or may not have been aged up. Including the Na’vi kids.

If we’re gonna point out the hypocrisy of that mentality, we have to accept in some way we are also victim to it. Albeit in another form.

God damn am I glad to be watching a modern sci-fi property that actually has mind-bending philosophical stuff going on again, though. Even if it’s hidden under many, many layers of subtext so as not to alienate a general audience, but I sure as hell ain’t glad that this is the property that broke my streak of never being romantically interested in fictional characters because now look what’s happened.

The longer I spend in this fandom the more convinced I become that many people - particularly though not exclusively younger people - have a completely fucked-up view of ageing and what age looks like.

This goes out to the “the old man is ageing backwards!” crew, who seem to think being in your late 40s means you should look like you’re crumbling to dust and anything other than that is somehow miraculous.
