one thing that stops me from overthinking is remembering that everything is never personal as it seems. everyone's behavior is an amalgamation of who they are and what they have experienced. it doesn't really have to do with you.
it FEELS unbelievably personal, especially when you are hurt. but remember we are only experiencing people. you have to stop thinking people will think and respond the way you would... everyone lives in their own understanding and reality.
and with you living in your own reality, you don't have to put up with this. let people's reality be their business.

"Hey Stevie, do you know how to whistle?"
Steve looks up from where he's washing dishes, at his boyfriend who is now much closer than he was a moment ago, and just blinks as Eddie stares at him in earnest.
"Uh, yeah? I know how to whistle."
"Can you show me?"
Normally, Steve would think a request like that is weird, but as Steve has learned, Eddie is weird, and questions like this have become a pretty normal part of Steve's day.
So he shrugs and goes to whistle, but as soon as he purses his lips, Eddie strikes. He pushes into Steve's space and kisses him, just a sweet, chaste peck on the mouth, and then he pulls back with a beaming grin.
"Got you," he says, and Steve is blushing, almost flustered over the simple action, and he pushes Eddie away with his elbow.
"That was so fucking dumb, and I hate that it worked," he says, and Eddie just cackles as he heads out of the room.

i love revenge tragedies so so much because they have so much potential to explore such a nuanced and complex topic and give it the consideration and care it deserves. revenge and revenger characters are such powerful narrative tools, both of catharsis and self reflection. a good revenge tragedy will not tell you that "revenge is bad, seeking revenge makes you just as bad as the people you're seeking vengeance against, and nonviolence and forgiveness are the only paths to building a better world". a good revenge tragedy will present you with a really difficult and complicated situation, even something absolutely unforgivable, and ask you to consider questions like "will this really help anyone?" "am i doing the right thing, or am i just doing what feels good?" "how far can you go before your quest for self-empowerment and personal satisfaction becomes perpetrating the same violence that you claim to be fighting against?" "what else could i do to help build a better future for myself and others, to ensure that the cycle of violence doesn't continue after justice is served?" "what went wrong here? how did something that seemed so right go so wrong?" and "what would i do in this situation?"
sayings like "those who live by the sword will die by the sword" and "those who fight monsters should take care they don't become monsters themselves" often get oversimplified, misinterpreted, and used to criticize people from feeling justifiably angry at their mistreatment and oppression, and discourage them from seeking the restitution they're owed. but when used correctly, a good revenge tragedy will employ these ideas as tools of teaching and learning, of questioning and discussion, of analysis and communication, and as a reminder to think critically and to think for yourself, not as a moral lesson. and those stories are so incredibly and important and valuable to me, and i believe that they have a very necessary place in the world.

Hey friends.
Just so you know, the blanket fort's always there if you need it.
Doesn't matter how long it's been. Doesn't matter if you still have hope or if you've given up. Doesn't matter if you're sad or angry or scared or a just a bit lonely. Doesn't matter if you feel a bit silly for however you're feeling.
There's always going to be someone there to welcome you. That's the beauty of fandom.
I love you.
Door's the blue cushion.

in the next mission impossible movie there better be a scene where the one (1) female agent they have has to seduce/flirt with a guy to get information out of him except when she tries, he makes it clear he’s not interested and says something implying he’s gay. so she walks away and into the comms tells the team it didn’t work because “i’m not his type.” then we get semi-frustrated team members telling her “well then become his type, we need the info” etc only for her to interrupt with “i think one of you boys will have a better chance.” then the comms go silent and it cuts to each team member’s reaction of “😳” and the “oh”s as they realize he’s gay. except when it cuts to ethan’s reaction, he’s already sauntering over to the guy and we just hear him say “i’m on it” and then we get scenes of ethan seducing the bad guy and he gets to gay kiss him. if this doesn’t happen i will riot
