one;

your name rings out into the still of chan’s apartment, the question mark hovering in the hall where he stood. he wouldn’t have even known you were here, if not for your shoes by the door.

the apartment is cold, the evening air having found a home in the empty space. there's no sign of you on the couch, or in the kitchen. the balcony is empty too - a favourite place for the both of you during the sunset hours when the city is painted in hues of red and gold. it was well past sunset now, the city instead bathed in evening’s blues.

if you weren’t in these places, then that leaves one more - because there was no way you were in the laundry or in the bathroom, right?

chan makes his way to his bedroom, feet padding across the floor with only the soft shuffle of socks against the laminated surface indicating his presence. he drops his backpack on the dining table as he passes by it, being careful as to not make too much noise..

the bedroom door is slightly ajar, revealing a sliver of the dark bedroom inside. he pushes the door open gently and your name leaves his lips with hope on its tail.

even in the dark room, he could tell it was you on his bed.

you’re asleep with a hand under your chin, another between your legs. why you had fallen asleep atop the covers instead of under, he didn’t really know.

he sits on the floor by the head of the bed and for a moment, all he can do is watch you. he rests his elbow on the mattress and his head on his arm, and watches. the careful, rhythmic rise and fall of your body. the way your lashes flutter just that much whilst your eyes dart behind your eyelids.

how long, he muses, could he keep doing this before it got weird? better to wake you now than have you wake and find him staring at you.

he pats your arm; once, twice. you only let out a low moan. your brows furrow ad body curls up more. a breath of laughter escapes him, and he tries again to wake you. this time, he reaches for your arm, rubbing gentle circles into your inner wrist.

“y/n,” he whispers. “y/n, i’m home. have you had dinner yet?”

the large inhale you take lets him know that you’re awake. he pulls his hand back, leans back altogether - no need to be so close, after all.

you raise the hand under your chin to rub your eyes, scratch your cheek - it's endearing, so endearing.

i love you, he thinks, and the thought is as new to him as the way you blink wearily as your eyes adjust to the dark. it’s as new to him as the way you let out a tired groan, pulling your whole body into a ball - and that’s to say it’s not new at all, because after so many years of friendship, he knew your habits and the things you do when you wake up. after so many years of friendship, the thought had taken residency in his brain the way the evening air had in his apartment, or the way the sun’s golden rays had across the cityscape.

“chan?” you stifle a yawn behind your hand and just when he thinks you’re about to get up, you close your eyes again, a tired smile falling on your lips as you snuggle back into his pillow. “welcome home.”

two;

he finds you on your couch, gazing at the coffee table without really seeing.

he knows that dazed look on you, knows that slight furrow of the brows and the tightness of your hands. he knows that you know he’s here from the way your head cocks towards the sound of his footsteps, the sound of your name. your eyes stay unseeing.

the sofa dips and you sway towards him when he takes a seat on the couch, facing you. you welcome the movement and the way it breaks your daze. chan extends an arm as you let your body continue to fall, and then he’s holding you against him.

“you okay?” a silly question, but it was a start.

the silence that surrounds the two of you is filled only by the static of the fridge in the kitchen, it’s electric buzz audible despite the distance. he can feel you take deep breaths, feel every exhale warm his chest.

“sorry, chan, i don’t think we can do movie night today.”

he shrugs, holds you tighter. what does it matter if plans change?

“you don’t need to stay. i’ll be okay later, but i- i don’t want you to stay here for no reason.”

he lets out a chuckle. “no, i’ll stay. of course i’ll stay.”

because i love you, he thinks, but the words are caught in his throat and something about the situation made him think that no, this wasn’t the time to confess his feelings, even if he meant well and wanted to help you with those words.

he knows that sometimes it’s not always a matter of making you feel better. sometimes it’s just a matter of being there for you, and sometimes that will be enough.

for however long he loves you, he’ll be there for you.

“when you’re ready, and if you want to, we can talk about what’s going on.”

“it’s just the same-”

“even if it’s just the same things as before.”

his heart is heavy with the pain of seeing you like this. his heart is heavy with the love he carries for you. his heart is heavy with his inability to make it all go away with a click of his fingers - if only it was that easy. one could wish, he supposes, but not all wishes can be fulfilled.

it’s not the first time he’s seen you like this, and it probably won’t be the last, but he’s okay with that. he wishes it was the last, of course, but chan knows that change takes time and he knows that loving you means loving all the versions of you, not just the versions that make him smile, or the ones that reassure him, or the ones that make him laugh (though he loves these ones immensely, too).

loving you means being on your side when your own brain is your biggest enemy. loving you means standing his ground about the fact that you are lovable and you are important and you do matter, even when you can’t stop thinking that you aren’t. loving you means being atlas, sometimes, and carrying the weight of your world for you so that you don’t need to do it alone.

for however long he loves you, he’ll make sure you’re not carrying your burdens alone.

three;

after-dinner walks with you are one of the things chan cherishes the most. the kiss of evening on his cheeks, your presence by his side as the two of you walk down streets lit by the yellow lights from the restaurants, the way you occasionally brush each other.

on this particular friday night, after a well-deserved dinner and a glass or two of wine, you’d decided to go on a stroll through the city and god was chan was glad he’d agreed to the aimless stroll.

if he were to recount this evening to someone else, they would probably be surprised that he hadn’t noticed the music until you’d pointed it out. following the sound, you’d found a small circle of people surrounding a performer- a guitarist, open case at their feet, mic stand raised to their height, and fingers playing the chords to a familiar song as they sang. a ring of fairy lights surrounded them, adding a wistfully magical atmosphere to the cold evening.

people were smiling, waving their phones with their flashlights on, and in the middle of the circle, people were dancing. children and adults, friends and lovers. it was a beautiful scene, but not quite as beautiful as your face lighting up as you pull him into the middle as well.

you’re pulling his hands out of his pocket and he thought he would mind the cold but it’s not so bad when your hands are in his and you’re smiling up at him. he’s being pulled along by your eyes your lips, the gentle swaying from side to side that he quickly matches. it’s magical, it’s blissful, its euphoric. he’s laughing at the enjoyment in your eyes, at the way you cheer when the busker finishes one song and moves onto another - one, two, three; one, two, three.

you’re holding onto each other’s elbows - not exactly the most intimate thing, or nearly the most romantic, but you’re rocking side to side together and there’s nowhere else that chan would rather be on this friday night, because-

because god he loves you so much - its all he can think about as the final chords of the outro play, as adlibs rise like adrenaline in chan’s veins because he wants to kiss you so bad right now and he doesn’t even care that there are people around but- but he does care what you think and maybe this isn’t the way to do it.

so as the song comes to a close, chan pulls you in and he might be smothering you with his jacket but he doesn’t care - if he looks at you any longer, his feelings would physically manifest and he doesn't know what he would do if that were to happen.

“chan?” your voice is muffled against his puffer, confusion and laughter softened against his chest.

“your face looked cold.” it’s a half truth to cover up the bigger lie.

“well,” you mumble, “it’s a good thing you’re warm.”

when you wrap your arms around him, the crowd applauds - at the two of you or at the performer, he doesn’t know.

and to be quite honest, he doesn’t care.

one;

you’d both fallen asleep with the curtains half opened - it had been too dark outside, too late in the night, the weariness of the day’s fun too heavy, that neither of you had realised the curtains weren’t fully closed.

not that it was a major problem, being three floors up, but it did make for an early rise.

chan finds his face closer to yours than he would have liked, though he confess the sight wasn’t too bad a thing to wake up to.

in the past, perhaps, he would have had no reservations, no worries about being so close to you in bed - but years of friendship had matured like wine, had left an aftertaste in his mouth that he was still trying to figure out if he enjoyed or not, if he wanted more or not.

no, he knew he wanted more, and that was what scared him. what if a bit more was actually too much? he didn’t know his limits, not with something like this. he didn’t know your limits. it was risky, was like drinking for the first time - the consequences didn’t quite hit until they hit. he could have a sip, have three, five, could be enjoying it all until suddenly it was too late-

rustling sheets pull him back to the present.

“chan?”

he’s reminded of an evening long past, as you rub your eyes. your gazes meet, but the fragility of tension is barely present this many years into the friendship.

“what are you thinking about, so early in the morning?”

a rhetorical question, perhaps, but the sunlight dancing on the wall behind you and the warmth under the covers and the innocent curiosity in your eyes pulls the words out of him.

“that i love you,” he says.

it’s… not as cathartic as he thought it would be but it’s enough.

it brings the dancing sunlight and gentle rise and fall of your body to a standstill. it brings the ticking clocks in his room and the saturday morning traffic outside his apartment to a mute. it brings his heart’s bpm from an andante to a moderato, an allegretto; he can hear it in his ears, feel it in his chest. the disjointment between his internal and external world almost sends his mind into momentary panic.

but you smile an angel’s smile, and he doesn’t quite understand what it means yet but he knows it’ll be alright.

“i know.”

for a moment, he thinks that those two words were all you had to say in reply. his mind dances on the line between friends and more (whatever that is, at this point) and whilst he can’t deny the existence of the slight disappointment in him, he’s grateful that nothing has changed.

until- until things do change.

“me too.” you pull the blankets up to your chin, curl up closer to him like you had so long ago when you were both younger with neither questioning the relationship. “i love you too.”

in some other universe, he might have disregarded your words as nothing more than ones of friendship - you both knew you loved each other as friends do, as you always had. but in this universe, he grasps onto the way you’ve practically buried your head into his chest. he grasps onto the warmth of your body, so early in the morning, so close to his. he grasps onto the slight shake in your voice, the way you had breathed out the words like a confession.

“okay,” he whispers into the crown of your head, arms almost shaking in disbelief as they settle around your body and draw you closer. “okay.”

Okay lets get the most obvious one to me out of the way, which is Link in the Yellow Lion. Like. First of all the fact that Yellow is A LEG and also Yellow representing kindness .... I think he really does support the team and grounds them in many aspects. Also Yellow is bulky like a dnd paladin LMAO it just makes the MOST sense to me? Yellow also being the color I associate with Link so maybe that gives me a slight bias lmaooo

The rest are. LESS clear to me. I HAVE already settled on an arrangement I'm more or less okay with but I could make a lot of arguments for alternative placements !! I will also admit maybe the places I settled on are a little color biased?

The Lions DO kind of have traits associated with each one except its. much less clear in some cases than others and I had to be a little flexible bc in my opinion NONE of the teens r like . smart enough for the Green Lion JWBECWUAGAHAA like they're all smart in their own ways and I do bend some rules a little to make their smarts work as an argument but I feel like Green is more book smart than anything which makes it difficult.

Uhmmm everyone else from here on out has at least two lions I could argue for and then I'll say which one I settled on? But like if you disagree thats totally fair LMAO like I said many assignments can be considered

Scary I mainly thought about the Black or Red Lion... There's the whole. Scary's the leader! Thing and also the idea of power corrupting... but also she can be pretty impulsive which is why I considered Red, also her tendency to have fire based magic mishaps LMAO I think Scary shows a lot of growth and inner reflection and also she has good insight on how the others seem to be feeling even if she doesn't always act on it or use it in the right way, so I could see that as the markings for the beginning of a Black Lion learning to be the leader type arc? Also to be honest shes the Main and practically Only contender for Black so she ends up getting it by default.

Hermie I think could be the Blue or Green Lion. I don't actually remember if they say IN THE SHOW what the Blue Lion stands for, but like. I've read so much Lance fanfic LMAO that to me it stands for Flexibility and what is Hermie if not flexible. Maybe too flexible? In the sense of. She will fill any role that is needed or given to her, like water will. I also thought Green bc to me Hermie is a character who is VERY in his head. Like they overthink to the point of looping back around to stupid again but also shes always playing mind games with other people. Hermie seems to always be one step ahead or at least is good at pretending they are. Also you can say the nature stuff is Hermie in his poison ivy era. Green is also pretty small and easy to damage which lines up with how fragile he is in a fight and maybe you could make an argument for the camouflage being like shapeshifting? idk. Anyways I decided on Green I think.

Normal I think I'm biased bc he's my fav and Lance was my old fav and I already made a post before about how I think they're similar and would get along and ANYWAYS LMAO I think its clear I gave him Blue. Something something, the legs being the support of the team something something water meaning flexibility but also ice can be stubbornness something something how I associate Normal (and lowkey the Doodler) with water (a whole nother thing to get into u can ask me to elaborate later) etc. I also played around with the idea of him in Red as Scary's right hand bc . shakes them . I think it could possibly fit but not as well? Fire isn't really Normals thing. I also briefly considered him for Black bc Normal is usually the one pushing the group towards a certain goal, but also his plans kind of never end up going through so I was like hmm not sure about that one. Blue I think is the best fit for him in the end which is why everyone else ended up where they did.

TAYLOR. Ok process of elimination you probably already figured out that I chose Red for him BUT I also considered Blue and Green. Green is fun bc you can play with his roughish abilities, like hiding and sneak attacks. His knowledge is more obscure facts and survival skills but I think it's enough to be a contender! I cannot explain the Blue stuff its all vibes in my head but trust me . I think also leaning into, Blue and Yellow are the legs that support and stabilize the team thing, Taylor is actually pretty good at keeping a cool head all things considered. Red, yes maybe slightly process of elimination but COME ON ITS BIG SWORD AND ALSO FIRE POWERS!!! Taylor would love that shit. Also going zoom zoom fast. Also the Red Lion is the second in command/right hand of the Black Lion and it just fits Taylor's protagonist vibes LMAO I think he usually is off doing is own thing which is also very Red Lion.

So to summarize: Scary Black, Taylor Red, Hermie Green, Link Yellow and Normal Blue.

Again I could totally see the justification for shuffling them around a bit but this is the assignments I settled on? The colors lining up is also nice I will not lie. I also could see an alternate universe where Normal is Red, Hermie Blue and Taylor Green, I think thats my second most favorable arrangement.

So what's your LEAST favorite pigment?

oooooh... let me see.

i don't think i have any one particular pigment that i dislike ALL of the time—watercolor can be temperamental, and the difference between using a transparent vs opaque color really can change the entire experience. they even dry differently, depending on what color you're using and with what materials. i can't really speak to oils or acrylics though since i've only used those in passing. (i do want to get into oils at some point... it's a gorgeous medium.)

if i absolutely had to pin down a specific pigment or pigment type that i don't particularly enjoy using myself, it... miiight be the cadmiums? yellow, red, orange, it doesn't matter. i know a lot of artists love them to death and they're even a staple on a lot of palettes, but the opacity and toxicity of them just puts them lower down on the list of the pigments i would usually reach for. (as long as you aren't eating them or inhaling the pigment itself handling cadmiums is usually okay-ish, but i prefer to err on the side of caution.)

that's not to say that i outright hate them, i've used them once or twice. but if i have an alternative to cadmium red (pr108) on hand like pyrol red (pr254) or something, i'd rather reach for that. especially since it can make cleaner mixes! (colors that are really opaque tend to get muddy easier, which is also the reason people hear 'don't mix with white, just dilute it' all the time. pyrol red is still opaque, but yk.)

for a while, cadmiums and the like were the only way you could get really true, lightfast and vibrant colors of whatever category they occupied, but there are so many other alternatives now that i find fun to explore and more comfortable to work with.

that said, it makes more sense in general to just play it by ear and see what colors speak to you. pr206 isn't exactly a perfect all-purpose mixing red, but that doesn't stop it from being one of my favorite colors of all time lol. and warmer reds do have a much smaller selection than cooler toned reds do!

(also, not a huge fan of colors that are incredibly hard to rewet, like true viridian (pg18) or potters pink (pr233) even if i do find their shades delicately pretty and really unique. working with them can be frustrating if you aren't using them directly from the tube. some brands are better about that than others though! and both of those are kind of bad examples anyway bc i think they're gorgeous when allowed to granulate on cold or rough press paper, in mixes or on their own.

ultramarine blue (pb29) sometimes has a similar issue actually, but the color is so intense that it remains a staple for me anyway lol. sucker for certain classics ig.)

I try to but i'm not the best honestly, working on getting better and replying to more! I always feel guilty when I can't think of a response haha

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Definitely I'm Taking A Ride With My Best Friend. It's bittersweet to say the least. When you've gone through hell and back with your person, and he's hurt you, but he's also the best part of your life... how do you move forward? how do you re-learn to coexist when you're no longer running for your life? I somehow thought I could answer those questions in one epilogue chapter....

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my endings are very very happy, but probably Family Lines. Adoption, and family, and recovery, and ahhhh adorable family being adorable things!!

2nd place might be Poison in His Blood bc i wrote this angsty ass chonic illlness werewolf au fic and the fluffy (lol) ending took all of us by suprise I think

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really, but i've had a few like "i really wanted it to end like ____ :( " or "I think there's more you could have dug into with ____ :(" which i know aren't hate, but disppointing readers feels similar.

And once, a trump supporter got mad at me in my Superman and Lois fic's comments. Which is still fucking hilarious to this day bc for some reason they thought a literal alien wouldn't support immigration reform... and this was a comic book fan fic about superman's son being bi as all hell... fascinating...

yes and no. Have I written smut? yes. like, twice total. Do I enjoy writing it? no. I read a ton of it but, it's not my writing niche.

probably dialogue, including internal dialogue, I think. It comes much easier to me than ambiance/setting descripitons.

I avoid it heavily. I took 4 years of french in high school but it's been years since then and my knowledge on it is preschool at best. another thing to work on tho!!

ooh I like this question! that's probably The Crane Wives, which are folk. most of my liked songs are jpop, vocaloid, and loud sounds, with some lofi sprinkled in, so it's funny to hear them sometimes. seriously though, they are one of my favorite artists ever. I adore their music, and I've been listening to them for a couple years now. (THEY'RE TOURING RN BUT THE CLOSEST ONE IS 6 HOURS AWAY AND IT'S SOLD OUT UWEHH)

piano. i think it sounds so nice, and i love all of the songs i hear with it. however, ive tried it once or twice, and i couldn't go anywhere near as fast as i needed to. so. probably not in my future.

oh I really really like this question. so. i see my relationships as feelings. im really bad at remembering stuff sometimes, so i kinda agree with the colors. but mostly, it's a feeling. whenever i see something from you, the color i feel is a pale blue or lilac. for my friend twig, they're a bright, but not overbearing, green. my boyfriend is a light orange. and the felling i get when i see something from you, dear kazu, is a sort of flowery one. i feel thick and fluffy flowers, with little bees saying hello to each other, and the sun coming down and soaking into your bones. it's not hot, thankfully, but a pleasant warmth. the same one that you feel after a really nice hug, or while cuddled up next to someone you love. for twig, it's the feeling of loud music. listening to familiar sounds and not needing to worry if it's too loud. also, late night calls with friends. one time i was calling two friends and i couldn't use my mic, so i used a soundboard and typed things to them. those things are what twig reminds me of. my boyfriend feels like fog and coloring. but not traditional fog, a fantastical fog that wraps around you and keeps you safe. a fog full of whimsy that protects you from the outside world, while keeping you entertained. and for the coloring, it's just a colorful and wholesome activity. something you can do and then show someone, or give it to them and make them happy. i find great power in colors, and i love looking into their connotations. this was so so so much fun to answer, thank you for asking this kazu <3

oh oh, this is hard. i would say.. kiki's delivery service. i had so so so much fun with my friend (twig <3), and we ended up getting there an hour early lol. we didn't always pay attention, making fun of the male love interest, but it was so silly and fun. id love to experience that again.

probably. fashion designing or woodworking. i think making clothes is just so cool, but not "diy this! diy that!" no. I mean full on mannequins, sewing, fabric, buttons, lace, so much stuff to work with and make into incredible things. but sadly, I don't think id ever have time to learn in a way that would matter to me. and for woodworking, oh it'd be so cool if i could make stuff like that. make a table, a shelf, a stand, a spoon. wouldn't that be cool? you could show people and say, "I made this. I used this wood. here's something I'm really proud of" and it'd be so cool! I don't have a real interest in learning though, just knowing it lol.

• feel special by twice is like the most winx club song ok. i think the lyrics stood out the most for me, is “From nobody to somebody. I become a very special me.” which really fits how the winx are like found family :(

• LE SSERAFIM’s concept is basically self-confidence, which fits the whole concept of winx’s girl power!

• overall, i tried to go for sweet, dreamy? slower tracks. i chose songs flora would probably listen to wind down.

• hm at first i thought that tecna might like interesting/noisy production? and nct came to mind. or something with edm? but i feel like nct isn’t like tecna at all

• i’m settling on begin (bts, jungkook). it’s a dance pop track that’s almost eerie (?) in the beginning. the messages he’s confessing that his members are his one weakness, & he’s thanking them for bringing him out of his shell (“you make me begin.”) oh and i paraphrasd this from genius! i found the messages the most similar to tecna.

Favorite colors: Red and turquoise! Though really I think I have stronger feelings towards color combinations than individual colors, like blue/brown and black/gold.

Favorite foods: Slushies and crab legs came to mind first, which really are on opposite ends of the price spectrum ain’t they. Also breadsticks and fish sandwiches!

Last book you enjoyed reading: Manga does count, right? Because otherwise I don’t think I’ve read a legit only-text book in years. Anyway, probably the Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass manga! I also managed to snag all four issues of Zombiepowder for dirt cheap and read through it one night, though I’m not sure ‘enjoy’ is the right word. It was interesting at least!

Favorite thing to cook/bake: Uhhhh. Steaks, I guess? I’m not very good at cooking them.

Favorite craft to do in your free time: YO MARSH THOSE AMVS COUNT AS ARTISTIC EXCUSE ME-- Ahem but uhh. As far as crafting goes, I’m getting into customizing Funko Pops! I’m so happy with the two I have right now and I have two more in the works! Even if I have very little time to work on them. :’)

Most niche dislike: If someone’s putting an image into literally anything, and I can tell that they’ve stretched it out to make it fit in the space. I don’t mean that they’ve taken a really small image and enlarged it (though that also looks bad bc it’ll be all pixelated), I mean it’s only stretched in one direction, like they tried to make a square image fit in an 8x10 space and take up the entire thing. It looks bad. It always looks bad! It would look less bad to just let it stay square and not fill the entire space! And I see it so often it drives me insane how someone can look at that and think it looks okay. I’ve had it done to my own art and logos before! It drives me NUTS.

Opinion on circuses: Never been, I don’t think? If I have I don’t remember it. I’ve only ever seen one at big theme parks and there’s stuff I’d rather do more than check out the big top tent.

reading that person's og thread and then the new abridged one really gave me a headache because they're allowed to have their own opinions even if I vehemently disagree but they're acting as if dnf is the same level duo as Dreamnap or Fruitninja like I love them but they are not that 😭

Plus competitiveness has introduced so many new players!! We've had amazing intros from people like Punz, Illu, and Ant who have all become central to the MCC community. I don't really understand that argument at all, especially since it was agreed Red was a strong team because it was dnf PLUS foolish, who showed extreme potential last time and ngl kinda hard carried the team in dodgebolt. Plus Aqua was insane—TapL and Ant, two borderline S-tier players, along with Velvet, who given the group that he's a part of and what we've seen, is absolutely a talented player, and Gizzy, who was part of the MCCP winning team last year with a pretty good showing. They really didn't have any weak spots and it was pretty obvious they had a good shot at the crown as well.

Genuinely the only teams I was sure didn't have a chance were Green and Blue, even though I hold nothing against them it's just that teams of non-minecraft mains against regular MCC competitors isn't exactly a recipe for success. Every other team had a pretty decent shot depending on game order (especially with the confirmation of dnf's inarguably worst game of BM being in and their best game SOT being out), there really isn't much credence to their argument at all. Everyone agreed it was a strong team but by no means was it the sweep that op of that thread made it out to be.

Also saying that the event needed balancing because it wasn't fun if we knew who was going to win like 1) it's a non-canon event for charity, did we not see mccp21 pink parrots?? against that level of competition?? this is not an unprecedented team in the slightest and 2) they quite literally came in second place. Dream's teams have only ever come in first twice out of his 6 wins and a good chunk of the time he's clawing for second place to get his dodgebolt sweeps—Dream himself wasn't confident in their ability to win db and was half-convinced he was going to get swept because Ant and TapL are just That Good.

idk it was a flimsy argument and I really disliked the way that it discounted so many wonderful players and despite some of their fuck-ups and mistakes, ignored a lot of the good that the dt has also brought to mcc just out of their own personal dislike for them (and I'm p sure I've seen this person around just generally hating on the dt lol)

yeah plus in the two times he was first place - ONE WAS THE NON CANON HELLA OP TEAM . and the other time it was literally bc of survival games every other time he’s had to fight so so hard 😭😭
