How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics?

My answer for this one really depends on the story, what I want to achieve with it, and how I plan it out. For a story like Spellbound or even the OG Outside Chance story, where there’s a fairly robust outline in terms of the plot, I pay a decent amount of attention to symbols and foreshadowing. But not too much because I knew I wanted some wiggle room to adjust on those stories.

Some stories, where I’ve got a fairly set idea on where we’re ending and how we get there, I definitely pay attention to those and make a conscious effort to use them. I think the two stories that the best examples of my using foreshadowing and/or symbols are probably Pure and 9000 rpm.

Other stories where I’m flying mostly or entirely by the seat of my pants and only a vague outline? Yeah not worried about it in those stories lol. Examples: Unmasked and Come On Baby Light My Fire.

There is a way to do it automatically but only on browser! There's no way to do it automatically on mobile so not all of my queue posts are tagged.

I use a browser extension called xKit Rewritten. It's got a lot of useful options (like autotagging asks and making the reblogging system way easier). Super recommend to browser users!

11. What's something neat you've learned while doing research for something you were writing? Also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?

I do a lot of really inane research, mostly related to weather. I think my favorite has been searching the meanings of flowers and accidentally coming up with a more meaningful combo than I'd thought in chapter 24 of Disharmonic Aria. I chose red and white rosebuds for their meaning according to some probably now-defunct website, and had it pointed out to me that it matched up with some alchemical symbolism very relevant to Royai, so that was fun!

As for how much I worry about doing research in general, it varies. Most of the time, it's little to none, and I just wing it or very shamelessly note that I have done no research. I'm usually very surface level about it. But I will absolutely research weather/geography for realism.

17. What is your favorite line you've ever written?

I genuinely cannot narrow this down to absolutely one line, or even one scene of everything I've written. Even in stories I don't like, I'm usually proud of at least one bit of them, and I hold many of them precious in my heart.

I'm choosing this one (well, these two) from Midnight Rebellion in the Newsroom to show off because it's one of the less blatant bits of symbolism I've written. Subtle, I am (usually) not.

Only when she was safely in bed after her conversation with Marilla would she notice the faint inky fingerprints on her hand where Gilbert had caught it to help her keep her balance. Her last thought before she drifted off to sleep would be that there was something rather poetic about it, but it would be only when she'd wake that she'd have clarity on it.

Four years after leaving her hometown for college, Katniss returns to visit her mother and sister the summer before she gets married to Gale.  Four years after his mother passed, Peeta is running the town bakery and welcomes Katniss undoing the stitches of his patched-up life. They reconnect and remember. Nothing will ever be the same.

this fic has been living in my brain and scattered across documents on my computer for over a year now so i'm so so excited to finally start sharing it! if all goes to plan, i'll be updating every friday

after beating the game and sleeping on it, some things i would like to eventually address is :

the actual state of castle town, particularly why the reaction was insanely minimal ---- and yes, while there are some who was somewhat conscious / aware of things, the fact no one was particularly bothered by what goes on in the castle is strangely alarming but also portrays a great example of the disconnect between the people and their monarch.

the sheikah tribe and the cruel order of some past ruler that practically exiled / doomed them despite being insanely loyal to the royal family.

zelda's own inability to leave the castle, albeit i still stick to the theory that zelda was actually in spirit form while in the castle and the real zelda was dormant in the throne room.

still mad about how zelda didn't manifest the shiek form despite having the design for it.

frankly would have loved more context between hyrules and twiili people.

but honestly tho, royal family is insanely sus and while zelda is portrayed as the just and benevolent successor, she cannot erase the sins of her own family, thanks.

oh yeah, zelda got massive imposter syndrome

also really disappointed about the sky oocca
