I’ve always wondered if there was any language difference between Westalis and Ostania, like I know the show and manga are only ever written as one language as these are fictional countries so the languages would be fictional too, but from what I’m aware of, there was never been any hint to Ostanian people speaking a different language than the West. Also I know that there are plenty of reasons for two countries beside one another to speak the same language. However, I find things like this very interesting, and I think it adds more to the characters’ stories lol
So, I have a little headcanon that all the WISE spies have to learn Ostanian fluently, with a perfect accent of course, but of course there are also plenty of dialects that must be learned as well. And as thorough WISE is, it’s hard to perfect a second language if you aren’t able to spend time with native speakers, especially when they are labeled the enemy.
Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that language and dialect differences are really cool, and I feel like slip ups could lead to some interesting and likely wholesome scenarios in the SpyxFamily world.
I wonder if Loid's gonna enter a phase of self reflection and try distancing himself from his family because it's interfering with his judgement. But I don't think that's exactly what would happen because it would mess up his relationship with Anya which would be bad for operation strix
Was not expecting such a major cliffhanger at the end of today's chapter!
What's interesting is that Twilight could have shot Yuri but he hesitates (note the "waver" sfx in the panel where he's holding his gun).
Another subtlety is that Twilight is the one lowering his gun on the next page.
And there was also only one "bang" in the next panel.
Then we get the scene with Yor, obviously foreshadowing this bad turn of events.
She seems to have forgiven Loid and is only upset with Yuri for suspecting him of cheating...obviously because she was never truly angry at him to begin with and only invented those "gripes" to seem normal.
The blood dripping in the final panel of the chapter is not from Yor's cut but from the previous scene of Twilight vs Yuri (it's a bit confusing since it immediately follows the panel of her looking at her cut, but you can see the pebbles on the ground, so it's not in the kitchen).
My guess is that Twilight is the one who got shot, for the reasons I pointed out before of him seeming to hesitate about shooting Yuri. It makes sense since he knows that Yor would be devastated if anything happened to him. And maybe, deep down, he's grown slightly fond of his wacky brother-in-law. On the other hand, Yuri doesn't know that Loid is Twilight...but if he did, would he hesitate too, for the same reason? Regardless, I doubt the wound will be fatal, but it looks bad enough to be something that Loid (or Yuri) won't be able to hide from Yor or anyone else. Some people are speculating that Twilight and Yuri will meet up back at the Forger house, and Loid will have to somehow hide his injury to keep Yuri from being suspicious. But we'll see! I don't want to theorize too deeply since the arc is still ongoing and anything could happen. Heck, someone else could have gotten involved off-panel and will turn out to be the one who actually got shot. So many possibilities!
But gosh, this arc is turning out to be exciting! I wasn't sure at first, but now I think there's a chance we will indeed get something major from it, like an identity reveal for Yuri and Twilight. Or Twilight could manage to get away without Yuri finding out that he's Loid. But we haven't even seen the real Wheeler yet, and I feel like the arc wouldn't end without him showing up, and probably interacting with Twilight.
Gah, this is really shaping up to be a long and possibly plot-altering arc! The two-week wait for the next chapter will be torture! But at least (per this latest illustration from Endo), Anya is having a nice time at the zoo.
I can already envision her shocked expressions when she reads Mama's, Papa's, and Uncle's minds later.
look at this marvelous shit I just made, had to add the twilight logo and the cash touch up the guns, make sure the rest matched the lighting. added some sfx.
This project took be months but I finally can present it to you. A comic dub that was specifically designed for a video format >:3c
(And yes, I did all this just to answer the question of the prince's voice, lmao)

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 in SFX magazine June 2023 issue
The cast of Strange New Worlds features in an article titled "Enterprising Situation" for the upcoming SFX magazine, written by Darren Scott.
Showrunner Akiva Goldsman talks about Season 2, like the upcoming crossover episode with Star Trek: Lower Decks and the challenge of blending animation with live action, and finding the right tone for the episode, and the fact he's open to future crossovers with other series timelines.
He also talks about the new Chief Engineer Pelia (played by Carol Kan), the fate of Number One, returning characters, about challenges of the show having 10 vs. 24 episodes per season, that certain characters who might not have gotten as much screentime last season, will get it in season 2, and that they’ve moved some characters around and "put some folks together who aren't necessarily canonically together at the same time" (like Lieutenant/First Officer Kirk), while still trying to stay within established canon.
He said of Season 2: "The pitch that came for season 2 was a lot of, 'We're going to do what we did last year, but more' and that's what we did! We took to heart the fact the audience seemed to like what we liked, which was genre-jumping, closed-ended narratives with some character serialization. It was a real harkening back to the original series, when it came to the occasional O Henry-esque or Twilight Zone-like turn, and at the same time you're in there shining a light into the nooks and crannies of canon. So we just did it again, basically. It was very reinforcing. If the fans hadn’t liked it, we certainly would have ended up doing something more traditional. So we were really happy to get to keep doing it."
Goldsman also mentions Strange New Worlds Season 3, which has already been commissioned and announced. "You carry a couple [episodes] over. The ones you always wanted to do that you couldn't quite get in the previous season. But then you sort of start again, because the world has shifted. Our 10 for season three are also delightful. They're in the not-made stage, but we know what they are and it continues to be exciting."
It's that time again!! AjinWeek 2023 will be held from July 23 to Aug 5. Posting for each set of prompts will be open for two days your local time zone (though of course you can post late!) Use 1, 2, 3 or even 0 of the themes, and tag #AjinWeek23 to participate!
For example, for 'Day 1' you draw your favorite character (same as when you first read/watched!) holding an apple (like the Twilight cover??) and post when your clock says it's 12:01 am July 23. Then for Day 2, you write two drabbles, one about your favorite Ajin ship when you first read/watched the series, and a second about your favorite ship now, and post on the evening of July 26. Etc. etc., there's no wrong way to participate! The event is being held both and tumblr and twitter (and Instagram if we get really motivated). Twitter is @ajinsanta and Instagram is @ajinsecretsanta (yes, the accounts there get used for both ajinweek and ajin secret santa).
The three prompt tracks this year are SFX (sound effects), fruit, and retro (themes related to looking back)
July 23-24 ('Day 1') prompts:
SFX: Juwajuwa じゅわじゅわ (black matter)

Colored version of "A Broken Rose" by @iluvluvnutella salamat ulit (I adjusted the brightness a little bit)
This is also the last panel of my TwiYor doujinshi "Twilight's Tears." (Realizing now maybe I should have switched and titled the stand alone one as "Twilight's Tears" and the doujinshi "A Broken Rose." It just that I already titled the stand alone one "A Broken Rose" after uploading it, it didn't feel right to change. That Nana song was really stuck in my head I couldn't get it out lol.)
iluvluvnutella gave me a bunch of versions and they were so good so I'll post them under the cut:
Original Tears with blurr sfx and my adjusted brightness
Original tears with No blurry sfx and my adjusted brightness
Edited tears No blurry sfx and my adjusted brightness
Edited tears with blurry sfx and my adjusted brightness
Untitled 1 Original tears with my adjusted brightness
Untitled 2 edited tears with my adjusted brightness
I'm hoping I organized the adjusted brightness files with the corresponding original art.
1963: William Shatner’s having a 'Nightmare At 20,000 Feet' in one of the greatest TV shows of all time 'Twilight Zone'. With SFX from the Remake (1983).
ANON NO. this was just my silly little treehouse duo… why must you add angst…
fine..
if there must be angst… let it be.. HURT/COMFORT!!
*magical powers blasting your angst into fluff* (not the type twilight is using though, that’s dangerous. i thought twilight of all people would know lab safety. she’s not even wearing safety goggles!)
I'M BREAKING MY 4 IMAGES RULE, I KNOW BUT THIS SEEMS IMPORTANT
So, Epitaph. How are you? Everything cool over there?
I'm not even sure where to start??
I mean to get the key you need the location of the hometown? And then the village? It must be a metaphor for something but I don't know what?
And then it's just "kill 6 people" "kill 2 people" and then a bunch of individual killings. And then the Witch will revive herself and kill the rest, but will also praise the wise and revive everyone afterwards?
Also 10 twilights? I thought this was just a single weekend from hell, what do you mean 10 days straight of this? Or if they don't die today then I guess 11 days?
What's the point? Seriously if you're going to kill everyone only for them to not die next then I guess I understand how there are 8 Episodes of this?
Is this a time reset? Beatrice Scratch with Rokkenjima Alpha, Beta + all the other Greek letters?
Also Beatrice is supposed to "sleep for all time" after everything is done.
?????????
I'll have to think about this.
Also is this the first chapter break without a glass sfx/just vines on the screen? Many thoughts, many thoughts
