Truly fucking insane to me how even some trans people have drunk the gender essentialist koolaid and think that trans men are like, inherently arms of the patriarchy and oppressors. Just like believing all cis men are each, individually responsible for patriarchy. Isn’t the point of feminism that the system and people’s unconscious upholding of the system are the thing to be criticizing?? Gender essentialism is still gender essentialism even if you do it to trans people.

I don’t know why people don’t understand that treating any group as a monolith whose experiences are all the same is like. Bad and harmful. Trans men are men but they are not cis men. Many of us have experienced girl / womanhood enforced on us by society and deeply understand the struggle. I don’t see why it’s harmful to acknowledge the fact that trans men experience misogyny!!!! Lots of trans men haven’t or won’t transition! I promise you even if we are men, see ourselves as men, the vast majority of society will not.

I really hate infighting and “calling out” whole sections of the community, and I guarantee I’m not talking about 90% of trans women who are normal but that other 10% act like trans men have betrayed women by “choosing to be men”. Isn’t that like, 1) literally gc / terf logic and 2) implying that trans people just up and choose their gender one day (not saying that some don’t but like. Being trans is a deeply personal thing that’s often not a choice.)

This is thinking that makes trans men guilty to be trans men. We’re used to hearing it from radfems but to hear it from people who are supposed to be our allies??? From people who we have something so deeply in common with? It fucking sucks!!!

☯️ how do you think engaging with each other through tumblr, twitter, comments, kudos, creates healthy fandom experiences? How do you deal with that if you're not a social person/experience social anxiety?

✨Not that I think it didn't get enough credit, but Blood Sanation is the longest thing I ever wrote and the thing I worked hardest on, and sometimes I wish it still came up. I still have so many thoughts about that fic and the things I did in it.

I've been in fandom since the early 2000s (jfc) and in the past it didn't really matter how old a fic was, people still interacted with it. Sometimes people still talked about and commented on works that were 5-10 years old.

Now it's like creative works have an expiration date of 48 - 96 hours after posting. I blame algorithms, and new social media models for teaching people to treat fanworks like 'content' that's disposable. I blame discord for letting fandoms go almost completely private, where there's entire servers dedicated to talking about certain fics/authors that the creators themselves don't know about and who never see the conversations being held in praise of their work.

I guess it just makes me sad sometimes to see myself and my friends putting out stuff we worked hard on and then having it be like it never happened at all, and you need to put out a new work to stay 'in' fandom.

💥 I don't look at my stats ever! So I couldn't tell you lol Numbers are the mind killer, look at them once and you'll fixate forever on why fic A got 100 hits but fic B only got 95.

☯️ I think it's extremely important. Why does any fan put out creative works? Because they crave connection, they want to show people their favorite characters the way they see them and find people that resonates with. I've genuinely never met a fic writer who goes 'ew I hate the idea of people talking to me about my work and my favorite media/character'.

Without engagement on fanworks (and I mean fic, art, meta, head canons, gif sets, all of it) there is no fandom. If we all become silent consumers who never dare to comment on anything and never try to interact with creators then there will come a day when there's no fandom material to enjoy at all.

And like the hard thing about social anxiety is that there is no easy cure. Sometimes you just gotta suck it up, close your eyes, and hit send. What's the worst that can happen? You don't get a response? There's a million reasons for that and you can't let that keep you from engaging with people. Just keep at it and find your people, and keep your favorite creators inspired and feeling like their work was seen.

Oh my fucking god.... the fudkdjid ball. Can you believe this shit. I played today and got free items and they all suck, everything is ported from TK7 and looks cheap af. All while getting my ass kicked by a fuckng Azucena who STILL does the busted WR move she has (nerfed my ass).... and for some DAMN reason I got matched with a GOD OF DESTRUCTION JUN. I barely got one round out of them with my Mighty Ruler Jun. It wasn't even ranked. It was quick match, why is there no restriction there??? This game stresses you out sometimes like jfc..

I still remember when Twitter shills were actually trying to defend this lol. This was at the time of the store's release. (So talking about the first four outfits available). Which is funny, because even though I was already vocal about what a shitty move selling ports was, virtually... no one said a damn thing. And really? No one continued to say anything until the cyborg suits and fight pass were announced. THEN people finally said something. Which makes me happy but really, nobody shouldn't have stood for ANY of the ports to begin with. I guess maybe people were holding out for hope that the OTHER items wouldn't be ports and it was just a rocky start, or maybe people didn't catch on at first, but then y'know... everyone lost hope when he all realized, yup, third store update and it's still ports. We're never gonna get anything original, huh?

And like this tweet is wrong. These ports AREN'T good enough. A lot of times, as you said, they're very cheap looking, they don't match the game's quality, their textures are OFTEN blurry or stretched, or just lacking BASIC DETAILS. (Jin's Tekken 4 hoodie looks horrible, Xiaoyu's Tekken 4 dress and King's Tekken 2 outfit looks plastic-y, Hwoarang's outfit has blurrier and stretched textures, etc etc)

Why is it all PLASTIC and SHINY looking???? If you look up real letterman jackets, none of them have this texture!!!

I thought the whole point of Tekken 8 was that it's built from the ground up and is supposed to have superior graphics. These Tekken 7 items just look out of place because of this. Do you really want a bunch of clothes that are randomly shiny in your game? It looks weird and it looks bad.

Once you get Azucena, Victor, or Dragunov in the higher ranks, your chances of survival drop to 10% LOL.

That's actually really funny because many players will suggest Quick Match because it's "less stressful" as you can't lose your rank in it. But like??? Every time I play it, I DO match with somebody who's a far higher rank than I am and I end up getting my ass handed to me in a matter of SECONDS. It's like yes, I know playing against higher skilled people can help you improve. But like, I'd rather play against who's a bit better than me - not somebody who's 100x better and can just DEMOLISH me to the point where I can't even see or understand what's happening! It makes me feel like I'm a small kid playing chess against a 73 year old grandmaster who's been doing it all his life lol.

As someone who used to enjoy the manhunt content, keyword used to, the behavior shown during MCC was absolutely appalling. I swear, these people think that they can't be touched. I used to be in the dsmp fandom and it really opened my eyes as to just how often the dteam is put on a pedestal. like jfc. I’m specifically talking about dream because I’m a little more informed on him and his subtwt but it’s absolutely ridiculous, just how toxic his fan base is.

and yet dream actively encourages his fans to do said toxic behaviors. it’s a whole fucking mess.

scott and the noxcrew do not deserve the hate they get on twitter and you’re absolutely right, the dteam’s behavior during mcc was disgusting. it was obnoxious and completely unnecessary — to the point other content creators were picking up on it. what happened during ace race was unfair to a good majority of the players and noxcrew made a good decision in deciding to run the game again.

and do not even get me started on dream supposedly criticizing noxcrew on stream in front of his what,,, 70k highly impressionable viewers???? there is a time and a place and you should not be doing that in a public space. esp over smth that wasn’t even in noxcrew’s control!

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, Season 1/Episode 8 (“Love And War And Snow”)

What Happens in This Episode: This episode was jam packed with so many minor situations that I can't summarize everything in one paragraph. Town meetings, friendships tested, jealousy, boys, frozen pizza, Creepy Forrester, a disappearing concession stand, and much more.

Disclaimer: Don't take anything I say seriously or literally. If I say something you don't like, please remember that this is all supposed to make you laugh, my opinions are my own but ultimately meaningless and at the end of the day this is still just a 22 year old fictional TV show 🙂 The episode opens with a town meeting, the first of the series. I'm not sure which is the corniest element of this show, the town meetings or all the dopey festivals. Then sometimes they have town meetings about their dopey festivals which opens up a whirling vortex into the corn world. Memorable Quote "There is no use for a lava lamp unless you're on drugs." -Taylor Luke is yawning and sighing through the mayor's speech. Who is forcing him to go? Luke is not there voluntarily, that's for damn sure, so do I really want to know what happens to people who refuse to attend these meetings? I'm sure it's not pretty.

im going to be closing my comms indefinitely

in the past year, ive drawn about five times (forgot to post them here lol, i will tomorrow). this isn’t super uncommon, ive been pretty bad about drawing consistently for awhile now. i think a big part of the problem is the fact that ive had comms open. i first opened them in 2016 (jfc) and ive steadily drawn less and less frequently since then.

even though literally no one ever commed me (besides a couple friends, and in 7 years... sheesh), just having them open put me in this mindset toward my art. it had to be “marketable.” it had to be good enough for someone to see and say “i want to spend money and get something similar.” i haven’t drawn something just to draw in a really long time. everything i make, it has to be to a certain standard. it has to be worth something.

it stopped being fun. i stopped drawing for fun.

im like, in desperate need of money, too. im in a really bad spot in my life and doing comms for some cash would be great. but when i think about it, i don’t even want to do comms. if someone genuinely tried to commission me rn i would not enjoy it, even if their request is fine. i hate the idea of forcing myself to monetize what used to be a hobby. i hate the idea of anxiously working on it and being unsure if im making it worth the customer’s dollar. i seriously just want to like art again. i want to sketch again, fuck’s sake. i literally don’t sketch anymore, i try to make a polished product right away every time.

the decline in art frequency became more steep when i started posting on twitter, too. posting on multiple platforms, desperately trying to get attention. spending hours and hours on each piece and only getting a few likes here and there. disappointed the algorithm didn’t favor me, disappointed in my art for not being good enough to catch the appreciation i craved.

im going to go back to using tumblr as an archive for my art. i’ll keep tossing it up on twitter, too, just because i participate in xiv art parties sometimes. but im done trying to market myself. i don’t want to claw my way past other people all screaming “look at me!” and also be saying “please look at me.” from now on im just going to draw when i feel like it. if it sucks, that’s fine, who cares? im not trying to sell myself anymore.
