I like both 1980s Marc backstory & Lemire Marc backstory so I'm always thinking about how they can both exist in the same universe at the same time. I want Marc to feel neglected by his family for sending him to a mental facility most of his childhood AND I want Marc to punch his dad and spend the rest of his life regretting it so bad

the short stories are actually really provocative and profound, heartrending and disturbing and thought-provoking and funny all at the same time and in such a short amount of space.

but i feel like when n*tflix touched them, they were the first victim of a withering away and soul sapping for me, in which i couldn't bear to be around the kinds of discussions and jokes and everything which were coming up at that time as fundamental misunderstandings of them so it just became very painful and very banal because they were all, in essence, forgotten.

however, that damage is not irreversable.

particularly in the case of a good adaptation, the musical, i have begun to remember all of why i love the short stories so much, just how good and painful to my heart they are, as well as thinking more deeply about some aspects which i had not previously considered or paid a lot of attention to (in lieu of other things which excited me more).

i think the biggest strength of a "good" adaptation and a "good" fandom is that they make you realize things you hadn't, interested in parts that weren't your 'favorite,' and generally expanding your mind and love of the source material. in contrast, a "bad" adaptation or "bad" fandom is that which makes you wish to forget and eventually end up forgetting your love and leaving it behind yourself. "good" is to remember, "bad" is to forget.

Beastars final season, Black Butler school arc getting animated, Natsume's Book of Friends is getting a 7th season, Dorohedoro ACTUALLY IS GETTING A 2ND SEASON FINALLY I seriously had lost all hope of that holy shit!!!!, the new Pokemon anime is really good and refreshing, and NOW I've found out about an upcoming anime about a cat-run ramen shop that might fill the void Polar Bear Cafe left in me!!!

This is a FANTASTIC year for me to watch anime again the universe is BLESSING ME 🥰🙏 with all of this upcoming stuff to make up for all the other bs I keep getting hit with lmao

the weird second hand embarrassment i get whenever i think about or even indulge in my very special SpIn s.rm.thfg is so annoying sometimes hfhfd cause i literally love this cartoon more than anything, it was with me and got me through the darkest times, and i've spent 8 years obsessed with it!! tho currently it is on the back burner rn its still a constant in my life. so when i see people reminiscing about this long dead series that they haven't thought about in years i'm like 😬 cause i'm practically married to it at this point and have invested HOURS AND HOURS of time into it. i guess thats why i am so overprotective of it and my f/os from it hfhdhd it's like a "no you don't understand it like I do!!" kinda thing hfhdgd i have thousands of screenshots for gushing, all the episodes saved to my computer, hundreds of pieces of art (both self ship and fanart), notes about characters, details, places, i can remember so much about any episode because i've watched them so many times, layers upon layers of headcanons and aus, and the longest piece of fiction i've ever written was my s.rmt.hg self insert fic!! and yeah. my obsession with this series is 100% the reason i finally realized that i was indeed autistic hfjgfhgd

The night of Damien's death is the night where Nica was heavily injured, so Andy has to go get her. He starts walking home until he's followed by a particularly tall fellow (well anyone is tall to Andy). Little does he know this fellow is Tiff's vampire dad. They talk (well, Tiff's dad does most of the talking cuz Andy's too freaked out) and he almost talks Andy into becoming a vessel for Damien's revival, but Kyle steps on and manages to shoo him off just in the nick of time!!

Also, yes, I mean vessel!! That's a WHOOOOLE other can of worms in case anyone is interested
