I am 100 % sure that in TWP we will get a scene where Ty has to defect from the scholomance on his own side mission and Anush is with him and Ty tells Anush “it’s ok you can stay/go back, you don’t have to take this risk” bc Ty has abandonment issues !! And he doesn’t expect a friend to stick around. But then Anush has a confused reaction to this bc “of course I’m coming, I’m not letting you face this alone” and then Ty is confused bc this whole time he didn’t want to assume that him and Anush were really friends as they could just be schoolmates/coworkers out of necessity— so Ty doesn’t expect Anush to want to follow him outside scholomance stuff especially bc Ty has never had a real friend outside of his family and even Kit as soon as he stopped living with the Blackthorn’s he stopped talking to Ty so Ty doesn’t expect Anush to want to support him and so Ty asks “why would you want to come with me?” And Anush answers “because we’re friends Ty, and I’m not going to leave you.”

It didn't take long for Dru to be pulled into a hug by Emma. Dru hugged her back, inhaling her familiar scent. She had truly missed her and Jules both. It was so strange, not living under the same roof as them anymore. Sometimes she felt like she could never get used to it. "Oh I missed you Dru!" Emma squealed as she hugged her so tight Dru couldn't breathe. Despite it all she was laughing. "I missed you too, where's everyone?" "Jules went to prepare you some tea so that you're ready for a very British weekend." Emma said, her voice light with humor. "Neither Ty or Kit and entourage have arrived yet." "Thank the Angel, I haven't missed out on anything yet." Emma chuckled, and nudged for Dru to follow her. "This place has a very spacious dining room, I wonder if all ancient mansion come with them, but our sweetie does." Emma expressed with very fond look at the walls. She had grown pretty attached to the place. It had really became her baby. Dru smiled at her, happy to see her be so in love with Blackthorn Hall. Emma led her to a beautiful, big room indeed. The large table was made of a shining, warm wood that Dru bet her money on being fancy and expensive. It was also very old looking, and Dru wondered if it was part of the furniture that Emma and Jules had restored instead of getting new ones. The tablecloth was lemon yellow, which gave the table a cheerful look. Dru did think the white trays of biscuits and sliced bread that had already been placed down, paired with the cloth, strangely reminded her of Easter for some reason. "Now, here are two of some of my favorite girls." Jules teased as he entered the room, a tray with teacups and a vintage looking kettle resting on top. Dru smiled brightly at her brother as he placed the tray carefully on top of the table. "You know, you'd make a very sexy waiter." Emma remarked as Dru fake-shuddered. She sat down on one of the soft looking dining chairs, just as the doorbell rang. "I bet those are Kit and co. I'll let them in," Emma said as she left. Jules poured Dru some tea, hoping for the best for this weekend.

Anyone looking outside, could see Jules' hopes were in vain. Ty had made the tiniest miscalculation at the very last second, still distracted with his and Anush' tinkering on the sensors. They definitely were close to perfecting a sensor that had a sensory function for each species, the ultimate sensor. Which is why he had landed in the garden shed of Blackthorn hall. By the time he had made his way out of the gardenshed, he could see Kit and his family approaching from the gate. Worst timing ever. Mina sat on Jem's shoulders, using her position to spy on every little detail and Kit seemed to be in covesation with Tessa. Ty wondered how he could navigate this situation the best way possible, and by the time his mind had gone over all the ideas, Kit had already spotted him. Fuck. Kit's relaxed posture looked a bit strained, but not as strained as Ty felt his own body growing with the tension. Tessa, with a gentle hand on Kit's shoulder, seemed to slowly drag him alongside her to where Ty was standing, Jem not too far behind. Kit gave Ty a strained nod, before he went on ahead to the doorbell. He rang the bell, as Ty stood around awkwardly with the Carstairs-Grey family. It didn't take long for Jules to open, and to see Kit in front of him, and to see Ty's fingers fidget frantically as Mina seemed to want to reach out towards him. "Welcome everyone, to the opening of Blackthorn Hall!" Jules greeted, inviting everyone in so he could wedge himself between Kit and Ty. None of the Blackthorns except for Dru, truly knew what had transpired between Ty and Kit other then they could clearly see there was a fall-out between them. Jules at least wanted to find a way to fix things between them, as Ty had so obviously had gotten attached to Kit and he could imagine Kit didn't wanted to lose their friendship either. He led the group inside, and Tessa especially seemed to eye everything with particular interest, having known the original Blackthorn Hall better then Jem did. Her eyes glided over everything fondly, seeming to sparkle whenever she recognized decorum they had kept from Rupert's time. That made Jules' clearly happy, anyone could see his chest puffing with pride over his new, beautiful home. Mina stared at everything curiously, having already seen Blackthorn Hall as a work in progress. Her little kiddie brain was going over every little detail she saw was changed, and looked at them with childish wonder. Ty also allowed himself to get lost in the new details, almost in an attempt to mask the way he felt from himself even. Kit entertained himself by listening to Tessa and Jules' conversation, until the group came to a halt by the dining room. Both Kit and Ty smiled at the sight of Emma and Dru, who hadn't been able to contain themselves from keeping their hands off of the breakfast. Dru smiled sheepisly with a piece of bread smeared with jam in her mouth. As the group seated themselves onto the table, the opening of Blackthorn Hall had truly commenced. None were aware of the sounds of hooves not too far away from the edge of London, and none of them would be, until it was too late.

you are so right alastair IS the best character in tlh i only really finished the last book for him. the release of the last book is partly why i also started thinking about tsc again and started vibrating excitedly about twp again even though it is ages away and who knows what it’ll even be like, but that’s why i went back into the tab and i couldn’t believe i never found ur fic before because it was exactly what i was itching to read! like whenever i have looked for post qoaad fic which i don’t think i have since 2020 it’s usually either short, only focused on what happens during the three years before twp, or is only focused on kit and ty’s reunion. and i love reading about kit and ty’s reunion but what i wanted most was a super long fic dealing with all the problems and politics of twp and interweaving character and romantic drama with well-done plot, and lo and behold i found your fic which is exactly that and is well-written to boot. i really do believe it’s one of the most well-written tsc fics i’ve ever found and was Shocked and Outraged it didn’t have more kudos. i literally wished i had made a tsc sideblog in 2018 just to promote it to hell. i know a lot of things have been jossed now but i still found it all so fascinating. also 40k outline um i would read that many words…would definitely do that <3 but the things i’ve been wanting to know most about since reading it are partly plot-related — thule livvy and her ghost counterpart, whether our current thule questers will run into ash, clave and downworlder and faerie politics, if all the blackthorns reunite, the riders finding kit again, more about kit and the first heir and his role to play, omg side note that story kit tells in the far about naoine was amazing — and partly character-related — ty and anush and june!!! dru friendship with kit and jaime!!! kit and jaime v interesting dynamic i never considered!!! kit and tessa and jem and mina! kit and jace! how ty has changed and how kit has changed and his future character development and how dru wants to change. but also, the Drama of all of those character dynamics is probably what im curious about the most. like, kit and ty making things awkward with everybody…that painful tension between them and what it would be like if they actually talked about it. how thule livvy feels about her brother and sister and kit. jaime………like i cannot decide if he and kit had a fling, if kit has a crush, if jaime does, etc, but every scenario i picture is So Great in terms of awkwardness and hilarity and poignancy. you wouldn’t think i could feel all those feelings about it but i do. dru’s reaction? TY’s reaction? jesus christ. also jamie’s character in general you’ve set up very nicely, particularly with the mentions of diego, i think their relationship is very interesting. dru’s reaction? TY’s reaction? jesus christ. however ash fits into all of this too is also v intriguing. i just almost deleted all of this which was a very scary experience but made me realize how completely incoherent and crazy long this is, i am so sorry about that. also want to stress that you don’t have to answer any of this or tell me anything at all, i just loved writing all of that out because this fic had me super excited yesterday. but that is all hope u have a good day :)

AHH i am so intrigued to hear that alistair is what pulled you through chain of thorns!! i swear i'm not a hater, but like -

- i am working my way SLOWLY through that book right now and i just. !! i wish i liked more of the characters more, you know?? there's just SO. MANY. of them, and i don't feel like any of them have really had enough time to develop, or at least to make me feel invested in them, which is such a weird thing to say after already having had two long books with them!

did you happen to read the ghosts of the shadow market book? the versions of james and matthew in that book to me are SO wildly different than the versions that ended up on the page of tlh, and i hate to say it, but i liked the gotsm versions more!! i don't necessarily think that all characters have to be super developed and layered or what have you in order to make them compelling, but when the mythology of the story has also sort of started to lose touch with what makes it matter, and the characters aren't super compelling...what's left, you know??

it's like, to me, we have these villains in belial and lilith who are so otherworldly that they're practically abstract, which makes them just not very good villains to me. i'd much rather read about someone who is their champion (or paladin, i suppose) by choice, because then we could have that conflict between power and powerlessness and agency and lack thereof play out on a much more human level, presumably with stakes it's easy to be invested in.

sorry for the tlh detour - i'm just like, i WILL finish this book, but goodness gracious, i will admit to it being harder to power through even than qoaad. (sorry)

going back to what you were saying, thank you so much again!! the politics of twd and the way that different characters could end up on different sides of that conflict and the romantic drama therein are SO compelling to me they literally kept me up at night as i was reading tdi! there is nothing juicier to me than a story of political intrigue because they function SO well as stories about personal values, and there can be so much richness and depth and nuance to that!

i mean, we have kit as a microcosm for some of this conflict, too; he's someone from a "mundane" background with not only downworld heritage but royal downworld heritage and yet also this shadowhunter blood and, most affecting to me, maybe, his father's blood as a bit of a liar and a cheat and a rapscallion, all of which could theoretically push and pull him in different directions. i loved the idea of really exploring how these aspects of who he is could complicate some of the underlying assumptions of shadowhunter society and maybe even the books themselves.

which, i mean, okay! i get it! they're the shadowhunter chronicles, they're about shadowhunters, i get it. but i don't think that doesn't mean that you can't interrogate a different pov, you know? like, sure, james and co. have saved the world in tlh, but they've also directly been the cause of it being threatened in the first place. and maybe he could've found more acceptance of his demonic heritage from warlocks like his mother, or maybe downworld would regard him as just as odd as the clave does - who knows? my point is just that the books never really even seem to acknowledge that those are questions to be asked at all. :(

(sorry that that makes me sound like a hater, i promise i really enjoy reading these books!! i just have a lot of thoughts! hence the long ass fic as;dlkfj)

but so yeah, getting back to the gang there in thule, i just loved setting up their relationships with a bit of conflict and intrigue! they're united under this common banner of saving the world (again), but i don't think that any two of them are in 100% agreement with anybody else, even ghost-livvy with ty or her own living counterpart!

they all want something, different things, but i don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, either, you know? like, dru wants so badly to prove herself, and meanwhile kit's over here watching her say "we gotta go investigate that green light" because she's burning up inside and he maybe doesn't totally get it but maybe he sort of does, and so he's like, "oh, dang, is that what a shadowhunter does? i guess i should be more like that, then," and so they're there like. nodding to each other. meanwhile jaime's like, "well, if it makes them happy," so they're the three musketeers...up to the point that what they want brings them into conflict, perhaps?? [eyeball emoji]

i swear i'm just about done talking your ear off, but thank u so much again for saying u liked kit's story about naione! the fair folk are just too old not to have myths of their own and like!! that's such a rich vein of world-building, who could resist it!!

Hello, my lovely!

Better in Black is one of the four books of „Season of Shadowhunters“ (Cassie‘s Kickstarter) and is a book all about romance. It features new romantic stories of some of our favourite TSC couples (One story is confirmed to be about Wessa):

Anush Joshi is a Shadowhunter that briefly appeared in QOAAD and currently attends the Scholomance with Ty. In GOTSM and SOBH we see the beginnings of their friendship. They are set to be really close friends in TWP and Anush therefore might be part of the TWP gang.

Thais Pedroso is also a Shadowhunter and briefly appeared in TDA. She currently attends the Shadowhunter Academy together with Dru and the two of them are best friends. She is also set to be part of the TWP gang.

I hope this clears things up a bit ;)

Janessa (Nessie) Williams

- Transgender woman and bisexual vampire musician

- She was only turned in 2013 when she was 19

- She pretends to be a lot older then she actually is though for shits and giggles

-Also to seem cooler

- Develops a pretty solid friendship with the LA gang

- Dru introduces her to Thais and they start dating

- She and Kit are kinda like Parabatai, they met in Devon

-She has ADHD

-A very sexual person, has a lot of hook ups and casual relationships before falling in love with Thaís. She is primarily driven by lust.

- She is a 8w7, self-confident, sociable, and pragmatic in her behavior

- She's ambitious and independent

- prefers to follow her own path

- she has a fear of being controlled by others

- Janessa dislikes authority and usually prefers to work alone

- She wants to remain in control of her own life and is an advocate for those less able, people in the downworld especially vampires who are less powerful and unable to stand up for themselves

- She left her band to stay in Devon and be a solo act

- The owner of the bar ended up selling to her for a pretty fair price because Magnus knew her and Nessie knows Magnus

-She makes the bar a downworlder sanctuary and tries to look out for everyone who frequents it

-She tries to protect herself by denying vauneability

- She doesn't wanna seem weak

Alyssa Reyes:

- This girl is having none of your bullshit

- Autistic and proud, also Filipina and Pansexual

-Born and raised in New York

-Alyssa is also a werewolf

- She has a lot of rage and traumaTM but loves and feels very deeply

- She becomes best friends with Ty and Anush after she is assigned to be a downworlder liaison between the scholomance and her pack

- Which makes sense because the scholomance is an organization that deals with downworlders and downworld threats #nothingaboutuswithoutus

- Her special interests are Queen, Muse, dancing and BTVS

-She can can quote entire scenes from Buffy and tell you what season and episode it was from

-She is a type 4. She is very sensitive, self aware and reserved. She's creative, she's a dancer, and emotionally raw. But she can also be very moody and self conscious.

- She has ADHD and C-PTSD

- She has been masking for her whole life and really struggles with her identity and figuring out who she is. She worries that she has no real identity beyond what she projects to different people.

- Aromantic romance repulsed but it takes her some time to figure that one out.
