Steve tries to stay quiet while he gets ready for work, but Eddie hears him. He keeps his eyes closed and just listens- to Steve grumbling to himself when his hair doesn’t sit quite right, who starts to hum and whisper some catchy song. Eddie turns his sleepy gaze onto Steve as he shuffles around their room- watching quietly as he slips on his clothes, his shoes, a simple chain with Eddie’s ring around his neck. A warm, affectionate smile breaks across his face. Before he leaves, Steve glances at what he expects to be a sleeping Eddie, but instead, he’s met with a rasped, ‘Hey.’ Eddie sits himself up, stretches his arm across Steve’s side of the bed, and reaches, fingers wiggling. Steve crosses the room to cradle his face.

Their foreheads press, noses bump, and Steve brushes his fingers across scars and dimples.

He breathes a quiet,

‘Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.’

Eddie huffs a tired laugh,

‘You know I never mind.’

Celebrian knew from the moment she chose to marry Elrond exactly what she was risking. But I think having heard and potentially seen Elros, this was something she was willing to take. It wasn’t a case of hoping her children would be immortal and find their way back to her. It was ‘I know they’ll choose what’s right for them, and I’ll be happy either way.”

Also remember Celebrian was born as part of a family who had been dealt fates worse than death before, and others to whom immortality would become a curse because they were the only ones left. Galadriel was still in exile, and had lost all her brothers and cousins. As far as they were concerned, this was it for her until she became a shade on Arda.

All that to say, she saw mortality and death not as a curse or sundering - she knew you didn’t have to die for that to happen. But as the gift as Eru intended it.

Kurais headcanon! So Kuras has terrible handwriting, typical of a doctor, right? Sometimes even he has trouble reading what he wrote.

But Ais can read his messy scrawls every time without fail. Partly because he’s good enough friends with the doctor to know what he would say, partly because he’s probably familiar with puzzling out all sorts of different handwriting, what with the notes in the Seaspring.

Anyway, sometimes at the clinic, when Kuras pauses at a word in his notes, Ais peers at it from over his shoulder and reads the illegible word out loud. “Ah, yes, I remember now. Thank you, Ais.”

At a certain point, Kuras feigns not being able to read his own writing so Ais can sidle up next to him to assist him. Ais catches on pretty quickly and Kuras knows, but neither of them call each other out on it.
