This is in tradition of those Hallmark movies where the leading lady leaves her boyfriend for some hometown sweetheart, and focuses on the man who gets left and what happens to him after. Not an original idea, sure, but it's a fun one and I'm a sucker for sappy romances and lord knows we could use more queer ones eh

Kaidan shifted, rolling on top of the other man and considering him for a long moment.  "If you're asking whether you're my bisexual awakening, I'm afraid that particular honor goes to Mr. Lee Pace." Everett cocked an eyebrow, a smile twitching at the corners of his lips. "Any specific role?" "…Thranduil." Everett blinked. “Like…like in The Hobbit?" "He makes a very sexy elf lord!" Everett was all-out laughing now, the corners of his eyes crinkling and those delectable dimples flashing through the close-cut of his beard. Kaidan decided then and there that he needed to do all he could to see that expression on the other man's face again and again, as often as possible. It was such a stark contrast to that first cool, distant impression that Kaidan half-wondered if he'd imagined it, back at the airport.  How could anyone mistake this man for someone cold? "Tell me I'm wrong," Kaidan went on, trying his best to sound indignant. The effect was spoiled somewhat by the fact that he was trying his best not to laugh, too.  "You're not wrong," Everett conceded, reaching up and looping a hand around the back of Kaidan's neck. His fingers played with the shorter hairs there and Kaidan shivered. "But you are adorable."

IDK, I kinda stubbornly never say die on my WIPs because you never know when the right combination of inspiration and time will hit, suddenly enabling you to finish something.

15. What are your writing strengths?

People tell me they like the details I include. I also like to think I'm good at getting into a character's head and delving into the Feels.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

Balancing dialogue and description. When I'm writing I feel like I can make the characters talk or I can get lost in their thoughts/get really in the weeds about their surroundings. It doesn't help that I'm not a fan of writing dialogue anyway.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Nothing I'm super ambitious to do. Writing dialogue in my native language isn't a favorite thing, so it would have to be a crucial part of the story for me to consider it.

What’s the most toxic fandom you’ve been in? I can't name it because it's tiny and this'll end up somewhere they'll find it. They were entitled and had a whole superiority complex going on. Last I heard they were STILL hung up on something that happened three years ago where they had beef with someone from another related fandom which blew up into a whole thing

List three things you find beautiful about life: My family, I'm so so lucky to have them and they're always so supportive. My friends, and the fact that I can have good friends who are so important in my life when they're so far away from me. And creating things generally, whether I'm doing it or someone else is, and making something that means something in some way

Any dreams for the future? Current, very mundane dream is to get a job that, even if it's not my biggest passion and I love doing it all the time, doesn't make me dread going in every day

1. Are you named after anyone?

Well, I took "fayth" from Final Fantasy X because I adore the fayth so much and to me it's a gender neutral name. It started out combined with zanarkandfayth as a username idek when, late 2000s, and then just gradually evolved into me calling myself fayth. My legal name, no. My first name was apparently just easy for my dad to spell and my middle name is french because my mom likes the language. I hate both names and they can fuck off lol.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Uhhh... I have a hard time crying these days even though I want to. Almost did last night because surgery recovery has been a bitch, does that count?

3. Do you have kids?

Nope. Don't want them. I'm not even capable of taking care of myself, why would I want to be responsible for another human being? And I did not win the gene lottery and the world sucks, I'm not inflicting this miserable existence on someone else.

Yes, though less than I used to because even sarcasm is effort and I'm tired.

I liked basketball as a kid, and baseball, though I wasn't any good at either. I used to like to run. Uuuh I also did taekwondo as a kid for a couple years? idk if a martial art counts as a sport though.

6. What's the first thing you notice about other people?

Hair... idk it's usually the most noticeable thing to me. Except that guy who came through my line at DT once who was about seven feet tall, I definitely noticed his height first.

Mine? Boring brown. Will forever hate it.

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

Happy endings. I used to like/not mind scary movies when I was younger, but now I need the feel good chemicals. Also I don't watch movies anymore. Legit could not name the last movie I've watched at this point.

Making my readers cry lmao. No, idk. What's considered special? What's considered a talent? I don't want to stand out.

10. Where were you born?

Southern US, the same miserable state I exist in now, good ole Tennessee, though I'm now at the opposite end of it from where I was born/grew up. It's worse on this end for sure.

11. What are your hobbies?

Writing, video games, cooking... I'd say reading but I don't do that as much as I used to. The guilt of not having the energy to comment on fics gets to me and so I just don't read at all instead :/

12. Do you have any pets?

A shithead named Max. He's a flamepoint siamese cat that an old neighbour rescued from where he'd been abandoned on the side of the road and me and my ex ended up taking him in. My ex named him (after mad max apparently and I hate his name lol) but he attached himself to me so when I kicked the ex out a couple years later for being an abusive cheating narcissistic asshole, Max stayed with me. He turned ten this May but he still zooms around the house like a kitten. I love him but my health problems have made it increasingly hard to take care of him so he's going to be my last cat.

14. Favourite subject in school?

English was the only one I really enjoyed just because it was so easy. When I did university for the third time (the one I actually graduated from lmao), I also really liked most of my sociology classes, enough to make it a second degree, and I liked my scottish history class. If I could afford a third degree it'd probably be in history.

15. Dream job?

At this point? Nothing. Being a stay at home husband (with no kids, yes), or being an eternal university student just taking classes and getting degrees for the heck of it would be my ideal. I would also like to try my hand at making my own video game, but a) I can't art for shit, and b) chronic fatigue makes even starting on learning coding too daunting. I don't even have the energy I want for my current hobbies.

Speculations on Claude's difference in character in 3 Hopes vs 3 Houses

Writing this because I'm so tired of seeing so many angry comments and tweets and posts about his supposed character assassination (among other things) and because I have faith in my guy. As of writing this, I've only just finished Part 1 of Golden Wildfire and only know some tidbits from spoilers (which I willingly exposed myself to)

The main gripe people seem to have about Claude's character is to do with how forceful and unwilling to hear people out and inquire about situations and people's motives. Personally, I don't see it as character assassination but rather a different way he could have developed if he hadn't gone through White Clouds in 3 Houses or met Byleth, or hadn't had to kill his half-brother, Shahid.

What I think was the turning point for Claude's forceful and aggressive actions, was very likely the event that he killed his own brother. We see traces of 3 Houses Claude, him trying to reason with Shahid and wanting to talk things out but alas, Shahid doesn't care and Claude ultimately makes the decision to kill him. Post-battle, we see Claude is very clearly affected by that event.

6 months later, Claude reforms the Alliance into the Leicester Federation and is placed as its king.

Perhaps it's all the stress built up from the war. The Alliance has been going through battle after battle and it's taking a toll on him. It doesn't help that because he wasn't in the Academy for a year to get to know his classmates and learn to trust others, he feels like as the Alliance Leader (as of Part 1), he has to shoulder all the decisions and be responsible for everything that happens. The Roundtable Conferences don't help with his frustrations either.

Through supports and the story itself, Claude has shown signs of disdain for the Alliance's system, but he hasn't really seen the need to change it, although it is inefficient. Then Shez comes along and goes, "Hey, why don't you make yourself the sole leader so decisions will go by faster during wartime?" and it opens up a possibility he hadn't even thought about. If he becomes the sole leader and doesn't need to go through the endless circling of decisions waiting for all 5 lords to come to a unanimous decision, things will be done faster and he can do what he wants to do quicker.

Back to Shahid's death and his impact on Claude's mental state - it definitely changed him. Perhaps after making the choice to kill his own blood, he made the decision to no longer hold back. He can't be too "soft" or hesitant anymore. He needs to be more resolved in his decisions and perhaps that is why we see the Claude we see in 3 Hopes. The aggressive, cutthroat Claude who doesn't consider choosing to hear people out. This can be seen in his decision to send troops to the 3 lords' territories to create public order instead of Lorenz's suggestion to send an envoy first. Claude even says that they'll "probably make half-baked excuses anyway" and that there's no point talking things out. This is pretty much where I've left off from the game, but it's clear that Shahid's refusal to reason with him still affects him.

I do think that perhaps the writers could have shown that a bit more, but Claude is way more reserved in his emotions and willingness to express himself and it may have been difficult to show that internal turmoil. Either way, I still think calling Claude's change of character, "character assassination" is going too far especially if you don't consider the prior events and the what-if's and differences in situation and events that occur between both games.

I have a big weakness for self-aware, yandere characters so your headcanons are a miracle to me. Could you do something with Deuce where the player always compliments him whenever they get a card or see him? He is my best boy and I love him so darn much that I always louldy anounce it when I see him :,) Thank you!

Magic not of Fodlan held a different aftertaste to it, and even visiting the cathedral days after the much discussed skirmish between a Judgralian mage and one of the Seiros knights Rhea can still taste it in the air mixed with the burning of incense.

The matter has been dealt with and punishments dealt but still Rhea stands where each man stared the other down as if to gain some insight into the events.

Despite her sympathy for Deirdre she does not care as much as a holy woman should, perhaps. She felt no obligation to help any of the players involved wash themselves clean of their sins but she thinks of time and obligations and the strange rumors in Abyss of the Professor who looks so like their fiery haired dark mage. But surely, they say, he and his wife are too young, too in love to have birthed such a boy as that (still consider the family history).

She cares neither for the truth of such rumors but it is the mention of warped time and misbefitting youth that has her stand face to face as if in conversation with the statues of her brothers who have long since abandoned her.

Macuil, who’s left handed sword could melt to the bone of the unworthy wielder and who’s right could knit the flesh back together again; and Indech, he of the Inexhaustible who fashioned new arrows from the air itself and who’s strikes flew faster than the wind.

Such abilities were paltry in comparison to the one who’s heart pulsed in time to the core of the earth and who’s divine will split timelines and built new realities.

“Mother?”

Rhea walks back to the center of the cathedral, breathing in the acrid scent of Arvis’s left over magic and the fear built into the stones here (Sigurd’s? Her own? It mattered little); and for a moment, looking up at the ceiling she almost expects an answer.

But miracles do not happen for Rhea. They have all dried up since him, but still she believes, still she knows her mother is here and listens.

“Was this your doing? I do not mean to overstep, but truly, do you still care for children such as these? Those not of your flesh and blood, those who would carve into it for a fraction of - ”

Rhea’s breathing has become haggard and she puts a hand to her chest to calm the burning there. No, the sins of these children in particular are nothing in comparison to those of the slithering, creeping monsters that still pour forth from the bowels of Fodlan like the insipid parasites they are.

This altercation had been a mistake, an unlikely one granted but nothing she and the others had not accounted for when the Officer’s Academy had been open to foreign lands.

“No, forgive me,” Rhea says, bowing her head, “if anything I am sure it is your power still slumbering within that vessel and Sitri’s influence there. She cared for everyone within these walls whether they deserved it or not and that child.... they are so like their mother.”

Rhea may not have the capacity to love like that but she could still care for, still oversee all of those in her safe keeping. Yes. She would do that.

“Please, continue to let us all at Garreg Mach keep you as refuge, great goddess. If you see fit to grant our new visitors your blessings I shall not intervene. I will protect them all, this time. I swear it.”
