Story Prompt 44
In a city cloaked in shadows and secrets, there existed a group of friends who danced on the edge of the law. They moved like shadows in the night, their laughter a blend of mischief and recklessness. But beneath their camaraderie lay a darker truth - a heinous crime committed on a fateful evening that would bind them together in ways they never imagined.
It was a night like any other, the air thick with anticipation and the streets alive with whispered promises. The friends gathered, their hearts pounding in unison as they embarked on a dangerous escapade. Among them stood a figure, the quiet observer who would unknowingly become the linchpin of their fate.
As they ventured deeper into the night, their actions spoke louder than words. They were rebels without a cause, seeking thrills in the darkness that threatened to consume them. And when the moment of reckoning came, it was the quiet one who found themselves behind the wheel, a silent accomplice to the chaos that ensued.
But as the sirens wailed and the handcuffs clicked into place, there was no protest, no defiance. For in the eyes of society, they were all guilty by association, bound by the threads of loyalty and betrayal.
The trial passed like a blur, the weight of their actions heavy upon their shoulders. Yet amidst the whispers of condemnation, there remained a sense of solidarity among them. They had chosen their path, and together they would face the consequences.
As they emerged from the courthouse, the world outside seemed to blur into a haze of flashing lights and probing questions. The quiet one, their gaze unwavering, met the glare of a journalist with a smirk.
"For our cause," they declared, their voice cutting through the chaos, "it was worth it."
And so, as they were ushered into the darkness of confinement, their journey had only just begun.
Years passed like grains of sand slipping through an hourglass, and the once-forgotten friends found themselves thrust into a world that bore little resemblance to the one they left behind. Technology had advanced, society had changed, and they were but relics of a bygone era.
Yet amidst the chaos, they found a glimmer of hope. For in the ashes of their past, they discovered a new purpose - to defy the very system that had cast them aside. And as they stood on the threshold of freedom once more, they knew that their journey was far from over.
"Looks like we're the villains now," one of them remarked, their voice tinged with bitter irony.
"But maybe," another replied, their gaze fixed on the horizon, "it's time for the villains to save the world."

here's another Splatoon theory that I don't even like
starting with a few questions:
what's the deal with [#14] crush?
why did dedf1sh make a Splattack remix?
what was Agent 3 doing during Octo Expansion?
We've been told somewhere, probably in some interview, that dedf1sh doesn't typically make music for others, but instead mostly only makes what they want to. From there it's easy to extrapolate that their music reflects their feelings, (or what was left of them post-sanitization) that they expressed themself through their compositions.
This paints a sad picture of their time in the underground, as most of their music from Octo Expansion has a tense and lonely feel to it. Which is why [#14] crush stands out so much. If you've forgotten which track that is, give it a listen:
youtube
It's goofy! It's chaotic and silly! If you didn't make Agent 8 hop around, flop, and spin to this track, you either didn't get far enough in Octo Expansion, or you're lying to yourself.
What gives?
The word "crush" can mean a lot of things, but this track doesn't exactly convey anything that sounds like being emotionally or physically crushed. It...sounds a lot more like the chaotic mix of emotions that comes with having a crush on someone. (this is where I need to apologize to Team Aromantic Acht. Love y'all, you guys do your thing and I'll do mine, cool?)
If I'm even in the ballpark of correct, that begs the question: on who?
There haven't been many characters we know about being in the underground, and even fewer who could potentially have encountered Kamabo's sanitized DJ. But if process of elimination isn't enough, there is a hint: as stated previously, Dedf1sh tends to only create their own compositions for their own interest, with few known exceptions. One of these exceptions is the Splattack! remix that plays during the Agent 3 boss fight. Again, it doesn't really match the style of the rest of their music from Octo Expansion, which suggests to me that they chose to remix that track specifically for someone who likes it, namely Agent 3.
Conclusion: Acht encountered Former Agent 3 during the time they were both underground, became as infatuated as a sanitized individual can be, and remixed 3's favorite song in an attempt to impress them.
(for my fellow Agent 24 shippers: I'm not necessarily saying that it worked. I'm saying that a sanitized Acht saw someone cool and made a couple banger tracks about it. Maybe at best Agent 3 appreciated and was intrigued by the gesture, especially coming from a sanitized octoling.)

You thought I was done for a while. No. Here’s the PLANT EPIC WUBBOX OF TBoCI… In the far future.
Tumblr media
When I say far future, I MEAN far future, for this absolutely terrifying beast had to transform from machine to flesh!
Basically, the TBoCI PEW, previously known as Mourner while it was still in the Monster World, somehow managed to fall into the Human World after being cursed. The exact curse? Nobody knows. But the curse changed into one of transformation after it fell, and Mourner soon became known as Arbre Mort to the humans who saw it while it was recovering.
All that remains of the wubbox side of it is the chest! I will draw and release what Arbre Mort looked like as Mourner someday soon, as well as tease the other Epics. :)

Smoulder - Violent Creed of Vengeance (2023)
Epic international epic doom/heavy metal/power metal
Tumblr media
George looks at international international arcane Power Doom act Smoulder's new album Violent Creed of Vengeance, released April 1st on Cruz Del Sur Music.
The band strain their doom metal roots on 2023’s Violent Creed of Vengeance. Offering some fast heavy hitters for the live setting, the new album represents a shift away from their slowed-down earlier sound in favour of rip-roaring galloping trad – but for some this will come at the expense of what made them truly unique. The slow numbers – now in the minority – are still where this group shine above others in the crowded scene of fantasy-inspired heavy metal.
