Story Prompt 44
In a city cloaked in shadows and secrets, there existed a group of friends who danced on the edge of the law. They moved like shadows in the night, their laughter a blend of mischief and recklessness. But beneath their camaraderie lay a darker truth - a heinous crime committed on a fateful evening that would bind them together in ways they never imagined.
It was a night like any other, the air thick with anticipation and the streets alive with whispered promises. The friends gathered, their hearts pounding in unison as they embarked on a dangerous escapade. Among them stood a figure, the quiet observer who would unknowingly become the linchpin of their fate.
As they ventured deeper into the night, their actions spoke louder than words. They were rebels without a cause, seeking thrills in the darkness that threatened to consume them. And when the moment of reckoning came, it was the quiet one who found themselves behind the wheel, a silent accomplice to the chaos that ensued.
But as the sirens wailed and the handcuffs clicked into place, there was no protest, no defiance. For in the eyes of society, they were all guilty by association, bound by the threads of loyalty and betrayal.
The trial passed like a blur, the weight of their actions heavy upon their shoulders. Yet amidst the whispers of condemnation, there remained a sense of solidarity among them. They had chosen their path, and together they would face the consequences.
As they emerged from the courthouse, the world outside seemed to blur into a haze of flashing lights and probing questions. The quiet one, their gaze unwavering, met the glare of a journalist with a smirk.
"For our cause," they declared, their voice cutting through the chaos, "it was worth it."
And so, as they were ushered into the darkness of confinement, their journey had only just begun.
Years passed like grains of sand slipping through an hourglass, and the once-forgotten friends found themselves thrust into a world that bore little resemblance to the one they left behind. Technology had advanced, society had changed, and they were but relics of a bygone era.
Yet amidst the chaos, they found a glimmer of hope. For in the ashes of their past, they discovered a new purpose - to defy the very system that had cast them aside. And as they stood on the threshold of freedom once more, they knew that their journey was far from over.
"Looks like we're the villains now," one of them remarked, their voice tinged with bitter irony.
"But maybe," another replied, their gaze fixed on the horizon, "it's time for the villains to save the world."

Diego and Dilla adore each other to bits, and they don't argue ever. In Caleb's dreams of course. In reality they are usually at each others throats😆
Diego's dislike and jealousy of Dilla is not really connected to how he feels about her as a person, but rather it all boils down to her relationship and romance with Caleb, which stings Diego's complicated feelings that he never admitted to Caleb, or even to himself. Dilla can perceive such feelings and has compassion, but even her compassion is not enough when Diego throws his unhinged nasty attitude and insults at her, and she often bites back. Dilla also fails to communicate with Diego, pressing on certain wounds without meaning to at times.

An Assassin's creed x dead rising/dawn of the dead au in which the ac protagonists are trapped in a mall during a zombie apocalypse. (With an obligatory 'bill gets punched for being an asshole to his son' scene. Perhaps even multiple??)
So we’re going for all the AC protagonists (including the modern day protagonists) in this one and there’s gonna be chaos, that’s for sure.
Let’s say that this is a case of multiple groups having the same idea and now having to deal with other groups they’re unfamiliar with.
One of the groups will have Desmond, Altaïr, Ezio, and Ratonhnhaké:ton.
They’re quite a close-knit group and one of the more stable of the other groups (maybe even the most stable) as they’ve known each other even before the start of the outbreak.
It’s most definitely Desmond’s idea to try the mall because, fuck it, the probable resources they could get heavily outweigh the danger and they were low in supplies anyway.
They would be the group that managed to get inside the mall via the rooftop using their parkour skills.
Ezio is the unofficial leader of the group mainly because Altaïr doesn’t want to do and Ratonhnhaké:ton has no patience with duplicity and the whole ‘dance’ necessary to foster relationships with other people who may or may not want to kill them.
Desmond mostly slips into their shadows (sometimes too well whenever he’s hiding behind Ratonhnhaké:ton) but he’s the peacekeeper of their group. Also, he usually gets his way as everyone has a soft spot for him.
The other group will have Edward, Adéwalé, Shay, Noob and Numbskull.
Haytham may or may not be included in this group, that really depends on how far we’re going to stretch the definition of protagonist.
They get in thru the loading docks and it was a bit harrowing (okay, it was super harrowing).
In this scenario, Edward would have to be Ratonhnhaké:ton’s uncle instead of grandfather so we don’t have to make Edward too old. Otherwise, we’d have to make Ratonhnhaké:ton at most a teenager so that Edward could be at the same age as William Miles and continue to be his grandfather. So making Edward his uncle would be better for this one.
Noob and Adéwalé were with Edward during the initial outbreak and they met up with Shay and Numbskull who are on the run from their ex-’group’ because of, shall we say… difference of opinion.
Numbskull also always keep a messenger bag on them and they’re very cagey on anyone trying to take a peek of it while Shay is also very protective of it.
Edward is certain they stole something from their previous group and that’s why they’re on the run.
If Haytham is included in this one, he’d be the closest to Shay and Numbskull while serving as some kind of devil’s advocate to Edward’s ‘unofficial’ title of their leader.
Of course, he and Ratonhnhaké:ton have a strained relationship and it really says something when Ratonhnhaké:ton’s feelings for Haytham still being alive is along the lines of “Oh, he’s still alive.”.
The third group to make their way into the mall would be Arno, Jacob, Evie and Initiate.
If Haytham is included then we are obligated to include Lydia and Jack for fairness' sake.
They entered thru one of the open windows.
If we are keeping Lydia and Jack, they can be the obligatory children (which may or may not be annoying) that Evie and Jacob take care of. Lydia is their cousin while Jack is a boy they saved after his group (and family) were killed by zombies. Jack’s definitely has some issues and he sticks close to Jacob maybe a little bit too much but no one tries to stop it because it’s clear that he’s been traumatized by what he had seen.
Initiate serves as Arno’s second in command and if they both wear their hoods, it’s easy to mistake them for Arno.
They would also have a strained relationship with Edward’s group as Arno remembers Shay as the man who killed his father. His father had been turned and Shay did what Arno couldn’t do and Arno understands that but he still… it’s still hard for him to trust Shay because of it.
The fourth group would be composed of Callum, Aguilar, Shao Jun, Arbaaz, and Nikolai.
Okay, so I like to use Aguilar as the representative of AC Rebellion mobile game and we’re sticking with that in this one.
They got into the mall using the back employee’s entrance and they’re the other most stable group.
Nikolai leads their group with Aguilar as his second in command.
In this scenario, either Callum is Aguilar’s wild brother or his teenage son who may or may not be having a rebellious phase.
Shao Jun and Ezio know one another before the zombie apocalypse because Ezio used to tutor her when they had been young.
Arbaaz also knows the Frye twins because he was friends with their father.
When Evie asked if Jayadeep is safe, Arbaaz only gave her a strained smile and says that he hasn’t seen Jayadeep since the outbreak but he still wants to believe he’s safe somewhere.
The final group that makes their way into the mall will be composed of Bayek, Aya, Kassandra, Alexios, Eivor, Odin (technically he counts since you are playing him in the Asgard parts) and Layla.
And they… well… they came in thru the front doors and attracted so many zombies because three of them (Alexios, Eivor and Odin) decided to go Leeroy Jenkins even though Bayek and Aya told them to wait.
This is probably the most disjointed group of all and the only reason they’re still together is because Layla is trying her damnest to be the peacekeeper.
Bayek and Aya are married but their marriage is pretty much dead and there are some unresolved issues surrounding them as Bayek had to kill their son after he turned.
Alexios and Kassandra are siblings but they were separated when their parents got divorced when they had been young and Alexios grew up with a stepmother who joined a freaking cult of all things (that may or may not have something to do with the whole zombie outbreak) and he’s… well, he has some issues and a bit of a temper, let’s leave it at that.
Odin and Eivor are father and daughter but Eivor grew up with her mother and stepfather who loved her dearly. Odin thinks she’s weak for not being as ruthless as he is, Eivor respects her father but, at the same time, she questions many of the things he does.
In other words, they’re a mess and, really, Layla is the one who suffers the most in this entire thing.
Unorganized Notes:
Okay, so the main conflict would be that they have to play nice with one another if they want to stay in the mall. There will be a tense meeting between each representative: Ezio, Edward, Arno, Nikolai, and Aya. In the end, they agree to keep to themselves AFTER they all joined in clearing the supermarket and dividing the supplies there, especially food and water.
Desmond’s group has the easiest time being cordial with the other groups since Ezio already knows Shao Jun, Edward and Ratonhnhaké:ton actually have a nice relationship before the outbreak and Desmond being charming enough to develop a friendship with Layla, Jacob and Arno.
Desmond and Layla would usually meet in one of the empty cafes, drinking bottled water and talking about their groups. Sometimes Numbskull, Noob and Initiate join them. Callum always ignores them though but Desmond believes they'd grow on him soon. ... like a tumor.
Evie and Altaïr surprisingly become book buddies after they coordinated in clearing the bookstore. Ezio is the one who suggested they just exchange book recommendations after he starts joining their "book talks" and then Eivor joins in and, before you know it, they have a little book club much to everyone’s amusement.
Everyone also starts to read whatever book their little book club member had so it’s normal to see Altaïr getting annoyed because he can’t find the book he was reading after he finished his patrol and zeroing straight for Ezio who reminds him that he has his own copy, thanks. It usually turns out that Ratonhnhaké:ton is the one who took it. Jacob would always swear he didn’t take Evie’s book and, yeah, it’s usually Arno who keeps forgetting to return it.
Whenever it’s someone’s birthday, they usually celebrate it by eating that person’s favorite canned food and snacks.
Basim and Bill are in a different group that infiltrates the mall later on when every group has already ‘stabilized’ and achieved some kind of peace. They seem to be looking for something but it wasn’t Desmond. Finding Desmond though… well… here’s the part where Bill gets punched… a lot. XD

The Revolt against Rehoboam
Tumblr media
1 Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king. 2 When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), then Jeroboam returned from Egypt. 3 They sent and called him; and Jeroboam and all Israel came and said to Rehoboam, 4 ‘Your father made our yoke heavy. Now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke that he placed on us, and we will serve you.’ 5 He said to them, ‘Come to me again in three days.’ So the people went away.
6 Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the older men who had attended his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying, ‘How do you advise me to answer this people?’ 7 They answered him, ‘If you will be kind to this people and please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants for ever.’ 8 But he rejected the advice that the older men gave him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and now attended him. 9 He said to them, ‘What do you advise that we answer this people who have said to me, “Lighten the yoke that your father put on us”?’ 10 The young men who had grown up with him said to him, ‘Thus should you speak to the people who said to you, “Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must lighten it for us”; tell them, “My little finger is thicker than my father’s loins. 11 Now, whereas my father laid on you a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.”’
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had said, ‘Come to me again the third day.’ 13 The king answered them harshly. King Rehoboam rejected the advice of the older men; 14 he spoke to them in accordance with the advice of the young men, ‘My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.’ 15 So the king did not listen to the people, because it was a turn of affairs brought about by God so that the Lord might fulfil his word, which he had spoken by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam son of Nebat.
16 When all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people answered the king,
‘What share do we have in David?    We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Each of you to your tents, O Israel!    Look now to your own house, O David.’
So all Israel departed to their tents. 17 But Rehoboam reigned over the people of Israel who were living in the cities of Judah. 18 When King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was taskmaster over the forced labour, the people of Israel stoned him to death. King Rehoboam hurriedly mounted his chariot to flee to Jerusalem. 19 So Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day. — 2 Chronicles 10 | New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised (NRSVA) New Revised Standard Version Bible: Anglicised Edition, copyright © 1989, 1995 the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. I just heard somebody say that the (very anti fossil fuels) climate justice movement that I am a part of is openly against nuclear energy (the movement does not actually have an official declaration on that, it's a very tricky topic and everybody in the entire climate justice movement has a different opinion on that) because the fossil fuel lobbies (to which we are very against) give us money (I have been a part of this movement for 3 years I have never seen a singe cent).
