You’re relishing the taste of salty fries in Giri’s when Uraraka asks you, “So, where’d you come from, pal?”

You look at her with confusion, pointing back towards the Ruins and outlining a large rectangle with your hands. She laughs. “No, pal. I mean before the Ruins. Where were you before you made to the underground? Have any family, friends?”

You think back to where you had been.... how long had it been since you fell down? It couldn’t have been more than a day or two, although, who knows how long you lay the yellow flowers? Every moment away from where you came from felt like an eternity. Your brain feels foggy, like it’s using your headache from the fall to block out your memories, but you know it wasn’t happy. The people who cared for you before Inko didn’t truly care for you like she did. There was a lot of time alone, so you don’t think you had any friends. Inklings of other kids, older than you but with enough resemblance to label them as siblings, seep in your head. Through the deepest fog you catch the faint glimpse of a woman, but she was so difficult to recall, she couldn’t have been there long. But the man. The figure constantly towering over you, blocking out any sense of brightness with his shadow, always followed by the looming threat of...

Fire.

You remember the painful bursts of flame he would wield whenever you upset him, but it seemed almost constant. The heat would lick your skin until it bubbled and peeled. You remember a smaller figure, too, a woman (the one from before? It couldn’t be, she seemed too kind, but...) and water that burned instead of relieved the pain like it has always done before, a roaring wave landing right on your-

You absentmindedly touch your eye, and subtlely scoot away from the main behind the counter, purple skin eerily lit by the black flames he used to grill burgers. You purse your lips and shake your head to Uraraka. 

“Really? Nothing? Well, could you at least tell me your name? It feels weird calling you ‘pal’ over and over.”

You suddenly remember the motions you’d taught yourself under the covers, out of sight of the man with the fire. He yelled whenever he saw you practicing, forcing your mouth to move, even if it was just to scream in agony. To him, it was better than speaking with your hands. 

You raise your right hand out to her and, recalling the letters, slowly spell out your name. “S-H-O-U-T-O.”

She looked at you before giving an apologetic chuckle. “Sorry, pal, I get you’re trying to tell me, but I don’t know handspeak. Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out. Is ‘pal’ still okay for now?”

You give her a nod and smile. You don’t mind what you’re called, if she’s calling you a friend.

“Great! Let’s head back to my place. I’m sure Tenya’s looking all over for you.”

Chapter 2

The Way Of A Hero

I was running for over an hour now, but i couldn't stop, if I did they might catch me. I just had to run. So I kept on going.

As I did so I thought about the heroes that I loved. From all of them All Might was my favorite, once i found an action figure in the park, near to the trashcan, and knowing my mom wouldn't buy me one I kept it, I held it away from her sight so she would never take it away. I took it with me now too. Its too bad All Might no longer is the hero, he disappeared during the monster war.

I came into the forest, which surrounded the mountain. I knew I had to mask my scent somehow, otherwise I would be found, so I dropped myself into the cold river, which most likely was the worst idea I ever had but there was no better one.

Now I could walk, beacuse it will be harder to find me, I looked around to find the best place to stay tonight. As I walked, I thought to myself that I was free, free after al these years. I then stood still, to enjoy the moment.

Then I walked slowly up the hill. Once at the top, right at the cave I sat down. I was hungry, after walking for so many hours, I was tired, so I took a snack from my bag, ate it and then curled up to sleep.

In the early morning I heard noises in the forest. Screams and anger followed. After that an explosion.'  Oh no. Bakugou is here. I have to do something. I have to run, but im too tired. Maybe I should hide? But where? There isn't much place or time to? What should I do?' then my time run out. Bakugou stood before me. I was shocked and frozen. He was at a distance of 50 meters, he didn't see me. I have a chanc- in a glimpse of a second I tripped over my bag, that somehow was clinged to my leg, and fell into the abyss, last thing I heard when I fell was " GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU YET" but I didn't know from who.

Then my body fell onto the ground...
