hear me out; AU where Papa found out about Azulin killing Mama and because bear society is not very mental health positive (actually, it’s the exact opposite of mental health positive, if you express you’re emotions in a strong enough way, you’d probably ether be lobotomised or institutionalised), he decided to give him a lobotomy.
Azulin’s emotional outbursts even worse than in canon, he’d probably yell at someone for standing wrong!! He also barely remembers his childhood and things he does remember are really blurry. He also is barely able to concentrate on anything, so he needs Gordi and Papa’s help most of the time.
Azulin can’t process things very well ether. He can clog things sometimes but it needs to be said to him many, many times.
Gordi eventually found out about the lobotomy and that Azulin killed his mother but throughout most of his childhood, the only thing he knew was that his mother died and his brother just…changed one day.
And when he did find out let’s just say that he was PISSED. He took Azulin and moved away. He tried his best to take care of Azulin and job but the bear was hard work and the more people saw him, the more he was at risk of going to a physic ward (which is a death sentence in bear society)…so, eventually, he gave him back to Papa.
Azulin knows little to nothing about his own lobotomy. The only thing that he knows is that something inside of him is broken. He knows that he’s different from the other bears, he just doesn’t know why. Gordi has attempted to tell him a few times but not enough for him to start processing it.
(This is probably really inaccurate to how real lobotomies work lol)

Summary : You had to take your daughter to the doctor for her first shot, her dad insisting on joining, you knew this was a bad idea.
Pairing : Dad! San x Mom! fem! Reader
Word count : 1K Words
Genre : Fluff
Warnings ➵ None?
a/n : San with children has my heart, I love this man sm he will be the best dad in the future.. 😭💜
┌───────────────────────── · · · · ♡
The moment San asked to join you and his little princess to the doctor you knew it was over.
San was the one holding your hand while you gave birth, crying his eyes out. After calming down while his daughter was getting her check-up, the moment he laid eyes on her again he was back to crying a waterfall. The first time she got scared or hurt he cried. It slowly seemed to you that your husband was crying more than your two-month-old.
"Are you sure you want to come inside with us Sannie?" Looking over at him, his hair was growing a bit longer again since the birth of your princess, not having had time to properly get it cut or dyed, he also said he was scared of dyeing it in case it could affect his baby. Your hand was softly playing with the locks on his nape while watching him hug the two-month-old to his chest. "Huh? Of course! Papa has to be there for his little princess!" Noding you send him a soft smile, knowing fully well you and his little princes would be the ones to comfort him.
Just a week ago she had to pat his tears away when he started crying after she got scared by a barking dog in the park.
Looking up when your name was called, grabbing your bag, and following the doctor inside, San following you with little Eunhee on his arm as you two sit down in front of the doctor. Talking to him a bit about how your daughter is doing, how she has developed well till now. The little princess was looking happily at her father right now pulling his face into funny grimaces. That is until the doctor gets up and walks over to some drawers, pulling out a syringe and the vaccine she was about to get.
Her eyes are still on her father, as San now gets wide eyes while watching the doctor search everything together for the shot. Already noticing his trembling lower lip as the hug on his daughter grows slightly stronger. "Sannie should I hold her?" Offering but quickly being rejected when he shakes his head no. A sigh leaves your lips when the doctor approaches the three of you now, asking for you to push the clothes out of the way, as he notices your husband in visible distress.
"Just act as if this was nothing bad, she probably won't even notice it then." But upon raising his eyes to the father, he sighs. San now had tears streaming down his face, hugging his daughter tight to his chest. The doctor looks over to you for a quick check if this is normal, making you nod slowly. Reaching over you softly wipe away Sans tears but new ones continued to run. "Sannie it's fine, it's just a little prick, she will be alright." Your hand now moving on to your daughter, already confused watching her dad and now you.
Your hand softly tickles her cheek now making her giggle softly, giving the doctor a nod now to give her the shot. She didn't even flinch as you cooed at her, pressing little kisses to her face. Meanwhile, San let out a sob when he saw the needle pierce his poor baby's thigh, the tears now streaming stronger than before. The doctor puts a little bandaid with unicorns over it, before stepping away. San immediately turns his daughter around hugging her to his chest. "It's okay baby, Sannie is here.. Papa is.. here.." He was sobbing and hiccuping while the doctor now explained to you to make sure not to grab that spot for a few days and to cool the area if it got red or hot. After handing him the vaccine pass to put it in, you stand up followed by San who was still clutching the two-month-old to his chest. The sobbing quieted down to soft silent tears coming out of his eyes.
After leaving the room, you make a quick new appointment at the front desk, some mothers watching your husband and cooeing at him softly of how he was softly crying and holding his daughter. Rolling your eyes slightly, taking hold of Sans's other hand now that is not cradling his daughter as you lead him out of the doctor's office.
"Look at the little princess! Uncle Wooyoung is so proud of you! Not so much of your dad though." Wooyoung was holding Eunhee up in the air making her giggle, before looking at San, whose face was still red, puffy, and tear-stained. "Seriously why do you always cry, you cry more than your daughter and she's two months old." Wooyoung sits down opposite of you, Eunhee on his lap looking around the room and trying to grab the fork on the table, Wooyoung quickly moves it further away and instead gives her one of the toys lying on the table.
"Get kids yourself and then you'll know." Snatching Eunhee away from Wooyoung now, Seonghwa softly cradles her against him, pressing a kiss to her head, before sitting down with Hongjoong, they just arrived and now only Yunho and Mingi were missing. "Yeah!" Agrees San, making you side-eye him. "Sannie he's right though, you cry over everything involving Eunhee, what will you do when she gets a boyfriend?" His eyes grow wide as he looks at the baby on Seonghwas's lap, currently being entertained by some finger play from Hongjoong. "No! She won't ever! She'll stay Papa's little princess.." Tears welling up in his eyes now, here we go again.
"Sannie come here.." Softly pulling him over to you, you press a soft kiss to his lips, before pulling his head onto your chest. "She will always be our little princess of course and till she grows up it will be a long time.." Your hand was softly moving through his soft hair, while some tears escaped his eyes. It was charming of how attached and emotional he got to and over his daughter.
"WHERE IS MY FAVORITE CHILD?!" Mingis booming voice announces his entrance, the little girl immediately making grabby hands to the two giants. She definitely had favorites among her uncles, another thing San didn't like.

Some more scribbly sketches for au I might or might not finish eventually
Guppy ventures out into the forest to give Clover- a recluse survivor of the war- a proper thank you for giving him closure about the fate of his sons. The camp he finds is dilapidated and weathered from a recent storm, and his heart drops as his gaze meets the motionless form of the green teddybear in the raggedy tent. Pulling back the curtains he's relieved to find him alive, but in terrible condition; his breathing is shallow, beads of sweat drip from his brow and soak his threadbare clothes, and he's entirely skin and bones under his fluffy pelt. He was in rough shape the first time they'd met, but now he's barely distinguishable from the corpses that used to litter these enchanted woods
His legs and back aren't what they used to be, but he can't very well let his late son's only real friend die, can he?

“Hey, love. How’s your trip going?”
Lando slouched on the couch, phone in hand, gazing at the video call screen with a sheepish smile.
“It’s fine, just missing you and Tilly,” you sighed, leaning back against the headboard of your hotel bed. “How’s our little girl?”
Lando grinned, he turned the camera towards Thylane, who was sitting on the floor, coloring with intense concentration. “Tilly, love, say hi to mummy!” He encouraged Thylane.
Thylane looked up from what she was doing, her big aquamarine eyes that he had inherited from Lando lighting up. “Hi maman! J'ai dessiné une licorne and papa said it’s the best unicorn he’s ever seen!” (I drew a unicorn.) She beamed proudly, holding up a piece of paper that vaguely resembled a horse with a very long horn.
“Wow! C'est la meilleure licorne que j'ai jamais vue. You two are having fun without me?” (It’s the best unicorn I’ve ever seen.) You chuckled.
Lando shifted the camera back to his face, his grin widening. “Actually, we were thinking about going on a little adventure to visit mum and dad in England. Tilly’s been missing grandma and grandpa, and I need to drop by at the MTC as well. Right, my love?” Thylane nodded at Lando and got up on the couch to sit beside him.
“That sounds perfect! I’m sure they’d love to see both of you.” You grinned.
“We’re going to surprise them,” Lando whispered, leaning in like it was a big secret. Thylane nodded fervently beside him, a finger pressed to her lips in a shushing gesture.
You laughed, “alright you two, I hope your surprise goes well. Please extend my regards to mum and dad, and have fun in England, my loves!” Then you turned towards Thylane. “Sois gentille, Thylane Francesa Norris, d'accord? N'embête pas grand-mère et grand-père.” (Be a good girl, Thylane Francesca Norris, okay? Don’t give grandma and grandpa a hard time.) You reminded Thylane in a soft but strict manner, and she nodded quickly. She knew very well what it means when you call her by her full name.
Two days later, Lando and Thylane are walking towards the private jet that is waiting for them by the private part of the airport, and Thylane all dressed up, with her snoopy backpack, bunny slippers, with her hair tied up in pigtails in which Lando had attempted to do—a little wonky, but it’ll do, and the moment they land in England, it is when the adventure truly begins. When they arrived at Lando’s family home, she ran straight towards the house, quickly looking for Adam and Cisca, who were completely surprised to see their granddaughter. Lando stood back, arms crossed, a proud smile on his face as his little girl babbled about everything she’s done in the past week, including her ‘top-secret mission’ to surprise them.
After a whirlwind of hugs and kisses, Lando found himself in the kitchen, watching his mom fuss over Thylane. She was showing off the cookies she had baked, while Thylane was explaining in great detail how she wanted to learn to make big cakes like the one she saw on TV, and it made Lando laugh.
“Better teach her well, mum, or she’ll end up like me—burning toast and boiling water for cereal.” Cisca laughed, “oh, I remember your cooking, Lan. Let’s hope she takes after y/n instead.”
Their first day of adventure started with Lando deciding to take Thylane to the McLaren Technology Centre. He dressed her in a tiny Quadrant jacket, which Lando personally had made for her, and a smaller version of Lando’s fluorescent yellow bucket hat, making her match with Lando’s outfit.
“Ready to see where papa works?” He asked as he buckled Thylane into her car seat.
Thylane nodded enthusiastically. “Can I drive a car like you, papa?”
Lando laughed, “no, not yet, Tilly. But I promise, you’ll be the best driver someday.”
When they arrived at MTC, Thylane’s eyes widened in awe at the sleek, futuristic building. They walked through the sleek hallways, with her held tightly onto Lando’s hand, eyes wide with wonder. Lando guided her around, introducing her to everyone they meet in passing. Thylane was a star, charming every engineer, mechanic, and even the sternest of strategists. Then, Thylane tugged on Lando’s hand and whispered.
“Papa, are these your friends?” Lando knelt down at her level, nodding. “Yeah, they’re like papa’s work family.”
Thylane seemed to consider this, then nodded decisively. “I like your work family, papa. They’re very nice.”
Later, they found themselves in the simulator room. Lando plopped Thylane onto his lap in the driver’s seat, her small hands gripping the steering wheel.
“Okay, now, just like we practiced on your little kart, remember?” Thylane nodded, her face serious. “I’m going to go super fast, like you!”
“That’s the spirit!” Lando encouraged, guiding her tiny hands.
The two of them zoomed around the virtual track, with Lando over-exaggerating every turn with sound effects that had Thylane giggling so hard. Lando had thought of you and quickly sent you a selfie of her and Thylane smiling cheek to cheek, on the driver’s seat. You can’t help but coo at how cute Thylane is, with the bucket hat and all that, it is evident on her face that she was having the best time of her life with Lando.
For their second day, Lando decided it was a good time to take Thylane karting. He dressed her up in a pink pint-sized race suit, complete with a helmet that was almost too big for her and bobbed on her head every time she moved.
“Papa, it’s too big,” she complained. Lando adjusted it for the fifth time, kneeling in front of her, “you look perfect, like a real racer.” He reassured her, making her smile, the missing front tooth making her smile all more adorable.
“Alright Tilly, let’s see what you’ve got,” he added, tapping her helmet gently.
Thylane gave a determined nod, revving the tiny kart’s engine like she had watched Lando do a hundred times.
“I’m gonna beat you, papa!” She declared with a giggle. Lando put his hands up in a mock defeat. “Oh no, I’m in trouble now!”
They both raced around the track, with Lando purposefully slowing himself down to let Thylane overtake him. Every time she passed him, she’d shout ‘I win!’ and Lando would pretend to be utterly defeated. He had let her go around the track on her own right after, and took a video of her going for a spin around, and sent it to you.
“So here we have Thylane Norris, the next big name in racing,” he narrates, voice filled with nothing but pride. The camera shows Thylane in the tiny kart, waving at the camera with a grin that looks so much like Lando’s that it makes your chest ache with love.
“I’m gonna beat papa!” Thylane shouts, and you hear Lando burst into laughter from behind the camera.
“I’m doomed!” He declares dramatically. “The next generation is here to take my title.”
Right after karting, Lando took her out as well for ice cream. Thylane was chattering away, explaining the deep philosophical differences between vanilla and chocolate sprinkles.
“You see papa, vanilla sprinkles are for happy days and chocolate ones are for…extra happy days.” Lando was trying so hard to keep a straight face, and replied, “so, today is an extra happy day then?” Thylane grinned, “of course papa! Because you’re here. It’s always extra happy day when you and mama are here.” He smiled lovingly at Thylane as he wiped the ice cream smudge on her nose and cheeks with tissues.
By the end of the day, Thylane was fast asleep in the backseat of the car, her little head leaning against her backseat. Lando glanced at her in the rearview mirror.
“Yeah, I think I’m getting the hang of this ‘girl dad’ thing.” He whispered and smiled to himself. “Can’t believe that she also sleeps like y/n.” He added, chuckling and shook his head at the sight of Thylane’s sleeping figure.
As the days passed by, Lando found himself embracing his role as the ultimate girl dad with everything that he had. He taught Thylane how to make a proper cup of tea, they went to the zoo, they built the most elaborate pillow fort Adam had ever seen in his living room, and every morning, Lando would attempt to tame Thylane’s curly hair, in which without a doubt she inherited from him too, with varying degrees of success, and spending time with her grandparents.
“Why does it always do that?” He asked one morning, holding up a curl that had somehow sprung back into his face. Thylane giggled, “because it’s magic hair, papa! Like Rapunzel’s.”
In the evening, Thylane snuggled into Lando’s lap as they sat by the fireplace. “When’s mama coming home?” She asked softly, her voice barely a whisper. Lando felt a pang in his chest. He misses you too—more than he could put into words. “Soon, sweetheart,” he promised, brushing a stray curl from her forehead.
“Mama’s just finishing up her important work. She’ll be home before you know it.” He added, with Thylane nodding, satisfied for now.
Your video calls are filled with stories from Lando about Thylane’s adventures—her tea parties with her grandparents, fascination with Adam’s memorabilias, and her insistence that “nana’s house” has the best cookies in the world. He would also read her a story from The Book of Goodnight Stories, a book which Thylane loves so much, over video call so you could listen in, and you’d watch as Thylane snuggled up to him, clutching her winnie the pooh stuffed toy.
It was their last day in England, they would be traveling back to Monaco the next day. Lando took Thylane to a local park where Lando played as a kid. Placing her on the swings and pushing Thylane higher and higher, her laughter echoing in the crisp air.
“Look, papa, I’m flying!” She squealed, her little feet kicking the sky. Lando’s heart swelled with a mixture of pride and love. “Oh wow! You’re flying, Tilly! Higher than the clouds!”
After the day at the park, they finally got back home. Thylane excitedly recounted all of their adventures enthusiastically as Lando tucked her into bed. She looked at him with her big, sleepy eyes.
“Papa, you and mama are my best friends forever and ever,” she whispered. Lando felt his throat tighten. “And you’re our best friend forever too, bug. Now sleep tight, okay?” he replied, kissing her forehead.
When Lando had made sure that Thylane was already sleeping, he decided to call you. The conversation started with Lando retelling you what he and Thylane had been up to the whole week, both of you were laughing at his stories. Then suddenly, there was a little pause. Lando’s voice became soft and he’s staring at you lovingly.
“We miss you so much, but I promise, we’re making the best of it. Thylane’s asleep now, but she wanted me to tell you that she loves you ‘this much’” you can almost see him stretching his arms wide, “and that you need to hurry back so she can show you all her new drawings.”
“I love you both ‘this much’ too. I can’t wait to be home with you two again.” You smiled through the screen, a sudden wave of homesickness mixed with warmth had hit you. “You’re doing such a great job, Lan. She’s lucky to have a dad like you.”
Lando’s eyes softened, a bashful grin on his face. “We’re both lucky, my love. Can’t wait to have you back home with us.”
“Just one more week,” you promised.
“One more week. Until then, we’ll keep having our adventures, right Tilly?” He whispered to her sleeping form beside him, even though she couldn’t hear him, causing you to smile.
Two weeks had never felt so long, but knowing that Thylane was having the time of her life with Lando made it more easier. Yes, you miss them a lot, but seeing the two of them having their little adventures together, and seeing Lando being the most incredible, loving father—that made everything worth it. Lando was not only a great father to Thylane, but the best husband as well that you could ever ask for.

Could we have a fic where Charles misses Ruby because she's at a sleepover and all he wants to do is go and get her
girls just wanna have fun | charles leclerc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
girl dad charles back at it again 🫶🏼
When Ruby got home from school, she immediately started packing a bag. Her best friend, Mila, was having a slumber party and Mila had invited Ruby. Charles was home since F1 had no upcoming race so he was confused when Ruby didn’t give him his kiss on the cheek she usually gives him when he’s home. The little girl ran straight to her bedroom and started packing.
Y/n entered their home with the stroller, Baby Mathéo was inside peacefully sleeping. Charles greeted his wife and placed a kiss on her lips.
“What’s wrong with our daughter?” He asked.
“She’s been invited to her first sleepover. You remember her best friend Mila? She’s having her classmates over at her house and Ruby got invited.” Y/n replied, carefully taking Mathéo out of his stroller.
“So she’s going to be sleeping at someone else’s house?” Charles asked.
“Yeah, that’s pretty much how a sleepover works.” Y/n nodded.
“Let me rephrase that. She’s going to be sleeping in a house that isn’t ours or maman’s house or Lorenzo’s. Amour, she’s never been separated from us for a day.” Charles explained as he took Mathéo from Y/n’s arms.
“You travel all the time, Charles, that’s your job.”
“You know what I mean. We won’t be there with her. Are you sure she’s going to make it through the night? She should just here with us.” When Ruby was two, she spent three months sleeping in Y/n and Charles’ bed because she didn’t want to be away from them.
“I talked to Ruby on the way here and she said she’s going to okay. Charles, she’s growing up. Next thing you know, she’s going to be ditching us for her friends on a trip to Spain!” Y/n teased, but saw how Charles was upset about his little girl leaving for the night. “Sweetheart, she’s going to be fine. We know Mila’s parents so we know she’s in good hands. Plus, we won’t be kid free. We still have our little Théo here.” Y/n chuckled as Thèo reached for his mother.
“But if our phones ring just once-”
“I know, Charles, you’re going to go pick her up.”
“I’m ready!” Ruby ran to the front door dragging her barbie bag that had clothes falling out.
“See? Our baby is excited! Ruby, come here so mama can fix your clothes.” Y/n called out to the excited four year old.
All Charles could do was watch his daughter leave the house. He was happy that at least she had friends who were kind enough to invite her over for sleepovers, but he was worried. Was he overreacting? He didn’t think so.
“Do you want to come with us?” Y/n asked Charles.
Charles looked down at the baby in his arms and shook his head. “You two go ahead. Théo and I are going to watch some cartoons.”
Ruby ran back to her papa and gave him a hug. “I love you, papa.” She smiled at him then gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“I love you more, Ruby Jules. Be good and sleep on time.” Charles said to the girl.
After saying goodbye to her baby brother, Ruby and her mother were on their way to the sleepover. Back home, Charles and Théo were too busy having a sleepover of their own. Wel, trying to since Théo was slowly falling asleep again.
After Y/n arrived back home, she saw Charles sleeping on the sofa with Baby Mathéo on his chest. She approached her husband and son then placed a baby blanket over the little boy.
“Y/n?” Charles mumbled, his eyes fluttering open.
“Hey, everything okay?” She ran a hand thought his hair.
“I’m okay.” Charles replied.
By dinner time, Charles’ nerves were calm. Mila’s mom had a group chat with all the moms of the girls that attended the sleepover and regularly sent pictures of what the girls were doing.
“Look, they’re watching Tangled.” Y/n showed the picture to Charles.
Immediately Charles noticed the pajamas that Ruby was wearing. While every other little girl was wearing princess or unicorn pajamas, Ruby was wearing her red Ferrari pajamas. It was hard to miss her since she was the only one wearing red.
After cleaning up the dinner table and putting Mathéo to sleep, Y/n and Charles we’re getting ready for their sleep. As Charles entered the bathroom to brush his teeth, he heard Y/n’s phone ring. He didn’t think much of it so he continued with his nightly routine.
“Charles, sweetheart, it’s for you.” Y/n entered the bathroom with her phone in hand. “It’s Ruby.”
Charles dropped his toothbrush and quickly rinsed his mouth. He snatched the phone from his wife’s hands and called out Ruby’s name thinking she was scared and wanted to come home.
“Hi papa! I told Mila’s maman that I wanted to say goodnight to you so goodnight and I miss you and I love you and I miss you more.” She said through giggles.
Charles chuckled. “I miss you too, Ruby Jules. Goodnight, mon ange. I will pick you up in the morning.”
“Okay, papa. You can’t see right now, but I’m sending you kisses. I’m sending you lots of kisses!”
“No, I can see them. I see all of the kisses you’re sending me. Can you see mine? They’re kisses just for you.” Charles replied.
“I think I see them.” Ruby laughed.
“It’s getting late now, bébé. Sleep well and you can tell me all about your day tomorrow.” Charles told the girl.
“Okay, tell Baby Théo that I love him and miss him and that I want to hug him and goodnight and-”
“Okay, okay, I will. Goodnight, Ruby Jules.” Charles interrupted her knowing that if he didn’t, the conversation would go on all night.
Charles ended the call and gave Y/n her phone back. “I miss my little girl.” He frowned.
“I know, but you said it yourself, you’re going to pick her up in the morning. It’s not going to be a whole week, babe.”
All night, Charles looked at the clock on his nightstand and wondered if Ruby was also awake. There was a time when Ruby couldn’t sleep at night so Charles had ordered glow in the dark stars and stuck them on her bedroom ceiling so when she couldn’t sleep, she could count the stars. But that only worked a couple times since Ruby would run to her parent’s room and sleep in between them.
Charles ordered more glow in the dark stars and stuck them on their ceiling so Ruby could also count the stars in her maman and papa’s bedroom.
So that’s what Charles was doing in the middle of the night. He counted each star, imagining that Ruby was beside him trying to hold in her laughter when Charles would purposefully miss a few numbers.
“Mon amour? Are you awake?” Charles whispered to Y/n. She didn’t respond, all Charles could hear was her breathing.
Eventually Charles forced himself to fall asleep. He couldn’t wait until the morning to see his little girl.
Before his alarm went off, he was already awake and ready to pick up Ruby. Y/n had woken up half an hour after Charles’ alarm. When she walked into the kitchen, she saw Charles feeding Mathéo, who were both dressed and ready to go.
“Good morning my loves.” Y/n gave kisses to both of her boys.
“Théo and I are ready to pick up Ruby. I was thinking that we could spend the day as a family. We could go see a movie or to the park?” Charles said as Mathéo reached for his mother.
“That would be nice.”
After eating breakfast, the family of three were on their way to pick up Ruby from Mila’s house. Charles parked in the driveway and saw a couple cars parked as well. “I can wait with Théo here.” Y/n said to Charles.
“Are you sure?” Charles asked.
Y/n nodded. “You did say you were going to pick her up.” She chuckled.
Charles then exited his car and walked up to the front door. He knocked three times and waited. Seconds later, the door was opened by Mila’s father.
“Hi, I’m Mila’s father.” He introduced himself.
“I’m-” before he could finish introducing himself, Ruby screamed and ran towards him.
“Papa!” The girl ran into Charles’ arms and kissed him on the cheek multiple times. “I missed you!”
“I missed you too, Ruby Jules.” Charles couldn’t bring himself to put his little girl on the ground so he held her tightly in his arms.
“So you’re the Ferrari driver? Ruby would not stop talking about her papa’s fast car.” Mila father said with a smile.
“The pajamas gave it away.” Charles added.
“Papa, guess what?!” Ruby asked.
“What is it?”
“Next week, I’m having my own sleepover and I invited everyone! They said they would come! We can all sleep in my room!”
Charles laughed nervously. “You invited everyone?”
“Yeah, and there was this boy in my class that said your car isn’t fast enough so I didn’t invite him,” Ruby said. “But then he said he would be a Ferrari fan if I invited him.”
“Ruby, we have to be nice to everyone even if they’re not a Ferrari fan.” Charles said.
Mila’s dad chuckled. “I’m more of a Red Bull fan myself, but-”
Charles interrupted. “I would love to stay and talk but my wife and son are waiting. Ruby, do you have everything with you?”

"Alright love bug, time to get out," Steve said, smiling as he watched you play with your tub toys. He held out the small plastic basket to you. You tossed your toys one by one into it, cheering proudly each time like you'd made a half-court shot. Steve of course cheered right along with you. Once all your toys were put up, he hung the basket on the hooks on the tub wall to dry, and helped you out. He wrapped the big fluffy towel around you. "Gotta hug you dry!" he said, giving you a big squeeze and making you giggle. "I heard that kisses help you dry off too, isn't that right?" he added very seriously, before attacking your face with noisy smooches. You squealed and playfully twisted like you were trying to get away, but deep down you loved it.
You were still getting used to being so cared for and protected. You'd been with Steve and Bucky for about six weeks now. The bond between the three of you was incredible, and you felt so safe and happy, trusting them instantly and completely. It was still taking some time for you to believe that you were worthy of this much love and attention, but you were slowly getting there. As if you really had any other choice when you were constantly being showered with it.
Once you were dry, Steve helped you brush your teeth and combed out your hair, before carrying you, still wrapped in the huge fluffy towel, to Bucky. "What's it gonna be tonight, princess?" Papa asked. "Do you want to sleep in the big bed with us, or in your bed with your stuffies?"
Without really thinking about it, you answered quickly. "Stuffies please!" Daddy and Papa had just let you build two brand new teddies at Build-A-Bear today, and you were eager for them to get to know the rest of their new stuffy gang. The idea of cuddling two new stuffies plus Jellybean tonight was just too exciting to pass up.
"You got it, love," Papa said with a smile. He carried you out to Bucky, gently transferring you into his waiting arms. "She's sleeping with her new pals tonight," he explained. Bucky grinned, looking down on your excited face.
"What did you name your new teddies again, Trouble?" he asked, remembering full well what you had named them.
"Named 'em Cap and BuckBear!" you answered cheerfully.
"That's right you did," he said smugly to himself, as he carried into your room. He made quick work of putting your sleepytime lotion on, and dressing you in the pink and blue pjs you'd picked out earlier, all while you told him all about your new teddy bears. He nodded and followed along, subtly laying you down in bed before you really realized it. Once you caught on, however, you started squirming and trying to sit back up, but all it took was him tucking your new furry friends into your arms one at a time for you to lay back down with a contented sigh.
He and Steve each took their turn reading you a book that you picked out. As your eyelids were getting unbearably heavy, Bucky reached over and switched on the soft blue unicorn nightlight, before turning on the baby monitor. They finished the last story, tucked you in, gave you gentle kisses on the forehead, and tiptoed out the door.
You smiled, nuzzling into your new teddies' soft fur. Then, of course, you had to reach for Jellybean, not wanting her to feel left out. Then you needed to give some time to each new teddy so they knew they were loved too...and before you knew it, you were wide awake again, trying to make sure all the stuffies got equal love before you all went to sleep.
Once you were satisfied, you snuggled in and closed your eyes. But...something was wrong. Something didn't sound right. You wiggled and fidgeted, not knowing what it was, but it was making you more and more anxious. Suddenly you realized that you hadn't slept alone for nearly three weeks. You were so used to hearing the gentle breathing of Papa and Daddy snuggled next to you, that the silence of your room was too loud. And then it was scary.
You opened your eyes, focusing on your unicorn nightlight. It was so lovely and pretty, but it just wasn't doing the job- it couldn't soothe you enough, or chase away enough of the creeping fear climbing up your spine. You desperately wanted to get out of bed and go find Papa and Daddy. But you shook your head and buried your face into Jellybean. Good girls stayed in bed. Good girls did what they were told. Otherwise, that meant they were bad and who wanted a bad little girl?
*************************************
Steve and Bucky were getting ready for bed in their room. "I almost don't know what to do with myself," Steve joked. "I'm so used to Katie being in here and going to bed with her that I've forgotten how to adult."
Bucky chortled quietly. "You want me to read you a story?" he teased, laughing when Steve tossed his wadded up teeshirt at his head. "Punk."
"Jerk."
"You wanna watch a movie?"
"I feel like I should say yes, but...."
"You only wanna watch a Disney movie, don't you?"
"...yes."
"...me too."
"I've gotten so addicted to them with her!"
"Right?! How the hell did they get that good over all these years?"
"Makes you glad were were both on ice for some of those in between ones, eh?"
"Tell me about it. Let's find one of the ones that might be too scary for her. We'll screen it and see if she can handle it."
"I love that idea."
"Well, I am the smart one."
"I still outrank you."
"Touche, punk. Gimme the remote."
They both climbed into bed, scrolling through the options. Before Bucky hit play though, he hesitated. "What is it?" Steve asked.
"Should we...should we go check on her? Just to make sure she's...you know...okay?" Bucky asked, trying to play it cool and failing miserably.
Steve smiled gently. "I'm missing her too," he said reassuringly. The bed felt somehow empty without your small frame wiggling around in it. "But we need to let her have her independence when she wants it. That's part of keeping her healthy and safe."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Bucky said, pouting. "But I don't have to like it."
Before Steve could agree, they heard something. Something come through the baby monitor. Something that made them both absolutely freeze.
You gave the tiniest sniff. Like...maybe like you were crying.
Steve and Bucky tore across the apartment so fast, it was a wonder there weren't skid marks on the carpet. They screeched to a halt by your door, not wanting to scare you, or even wake you up if you were, in fact, asleep. Steve cracked the door open the tiniest bit, just enough to get a look at you in your bed. You were definitely crying silently. Bucky let out a soft exhale of air, like he'd been punched in the stomach at the sight of your tears. You heard it and turned to them.
"Daddy? Papa?" you asked in the smallest, most heartbreaking voice they'd ever heard.
Instantly, you found yourself in Bucky's arms, and then both of you were in Steve's. You tried to subtly wipe your eyes, but of course they knew you'd been crying.
"What's wrong, baby girl?" Steve asked, his heart threatening to squeeze out his chest as he held both you and Bucky. "Did you get scared? Are you okay?"
"It's okay, you're safe, nothing can hurt you," Bucky added in a soothing tone. "We're here, my love. We're right here."
"I...sowwy."
"What?" Steve replied, completely surprised. "What are you sorry for honey? You didn't do anything wrong."
"S'posed to be 'sleep," you mumbled, the tears threatening again.
"Aw, that's okay Trouble," Bucky said with a soft smile. "Sometimes it takes me a long time to fall asleep too."
"Not....dat..." you whispered, before turning your ashamed face into Bucky's chest. They exchanged a quick look.
"What is it then, honey? You can tell us, it's okay," Steve said soothingly, rubbing circles on your back. "Daddy and I got you, okay? Can we please help you?"
You gulped, and looked up at them. They both seemed sincere, and you had no reason not to trust them...."I...I got scawed," you lisped out, your Rs turning into Ws the way they did when you were upset. "It's okay, Princess, Daddy and I will protect you from anything, okay? You know that, right?"
"Yeah...."
"Can you tell us what scared you?"
"No," you said, turning back into Bucky's chest.
"Why not baby?"
"Cause....'cause I don't wanna be bad...."
"You're not bad, Trouble. You're our good little girl. Please tell us what scared you. We won't be mad, we promise."
"Pwomise?"
"We promise," they said in unison. That was what finally broke you enough to tell them, the tears starting up again.
"I...I missed you and I wann'd to come back to the big bed but good giwls don't get outta bed and dey gotta be good and stay...."
You watched their faces closely as you confessed, just waiting for them to scold you. Instead, the softest smiles crossed their faces when they heard that you were missing them.
"Oh angel," Steve breathed, leaning in to rub his nose against yours. "How on earth could we be mad at you for missing us?"
"You...you not mad?"
"Not even a little bit, baby." "Cause guess what Trouble?" Bucky added, his voice hoarse with emotion.
"What?" you asked innocently, your wide, pleading eyes doing him in all over again.
"We were missing you too."
"You was?"
"Uh-huh. Big time."
"It's true, Baby. Daddy and I were talking about it before we heard you in the baby monitor."
"Was twying to be quiet and be good."
"And that was very sweet of you, lovebug, but listen to me, okay?" Papa said, scooting in even closer and putting a finger under your chin so you'd look him in the eye. "If you ever, and I mean ever, need me or Daddy, you can always, always, ALWAYS come to us. No matter what. Okay?"
You blinked up at him, astonished that you hadn't been the perfect little girl you were supposed to be....yet he still wanted you to come to him anyways? You knew you could trust your Papa....and he wouldn't lie to you....
"That's right, Baby Girl," Buck added, seeing your disbelief. "Doesn't matter if it's late at night, or early in the morning, or if you've just been put to bed- doesn't matter. Doesn't even matter if it's nowhere near bedtime. If you want us, you got us. Papa and I are here for you and want you to be the happiest baby in the world. So don't even think about it again- if you need me and Papa, you come get us. Understood?"
"I....I can come get you if I need you?"
"Of course you can, Trouble."
"Always," added Steve lovingly.
"Can I....can I...."
"Yes?"
"Can....I come....sweep with you tonight pwease?"
"Thought you'd never ask," Bucky teased, swinging you up in his arms suddenly and standing.
"Do you want to bring your new furry friends with you, baby?" Steve asked, already gathering them in anticipation of what he already knew you were going to say.
You couldn't even respond for a moment, you were so full of wonder and joy at their love and affirmation. At their care. They DID love you. They DID care for you. And you could make mistakes and they would still love you. No one had ever done that for you before. But maybe...just maybe...you had finally found it. The two bestest daddies in the entire world that genuinely loved and cared for you. Your heart was so full, it was amazing.
You nodded shyly at Steve, who grinned and carefully gathered Cap, BuckBear, and Jellybean. "I call cuddling with Baby and Cap," he said playfully as the three of you (well, the six of you counting the stuffies) made your way out of your bedroom.
"No fair!" Bucky said back in a theatrically wounded voice. "I wanna cuddle with Baby! And of course BuckBear. He is the handsomest, isn't he, Trouble?" When you gave your little giggle at their silliness, they both smiled those soft, special smiles at you again, making your heart warm and making you feel so loved all over again.
In no time at all, you were comfortably cuddled in the crook of Bucky's right arm while holding Steve's left forearm against your chest. After some more playful and gentle teasing, Cap was cuddled by Papa, BuckBear by Daddy, and Jellybean was squished up all cozy in between Papa's arm and you.
You sighed, feeling so loved and cared for. "Papa? Daddy?" you asked sleepily, as once more your eyelids became oh so heavy.
"What is it, baby?" Bucky asked in his deep, quiet tones.
"You are better dan a million nightlights," you said with a gentle smile.
They both leaned into you at that, giving you sweet goodnight kisses all over again. "You're the light of our lives, angel," Steve whispered. "We'll always be your nightlights."

Pluto
“One more chapter, Papa?” Ivy asks.
Tommy closes the book and places it on her bedside table. “We already did one more chapter, remember?” he reminds her gently.
He knew the question had been coming, and his answer is the same every time. In the past, getting Ivy to move on would have been a bigger struggle. But they've been working on their nighttime routine for a while now, and she’s getting the hang of it. Her question, and Tommy’s answer, are both part of that routine, and he knows she finds some kind of comfort in it.
He reaches down to switch on the night-light. It’s one of those moon ones Evan saw online and had insisted they buy for her, along with those glow-in-the-dark star stickers that he’d always wanted as a kid. There are stickers everywhere in Ivy’s room, actually - and not just the nice wall decals you can find on Etsy, but the cheap shitty stickers she brings home from school or begs for every time they go to Target. There’s fairies on her bed frame that Tommy knows he’ll never be able to remove, and sticky residue all over her desk from the fire truck stickers that she’d picked off one by one instead of doing her homework. Tommy and Evan hadn’t grown up in the kind of households where kids were able to put stickers on the walls, or play with paint or glitter, or make mud pies, and every time Margaret’s eyes fall on one of Ivy’s marker covered dresses and she smiles one of her cool, polite smiles, Tommy feels a tiny flash of victory that he doesn’t bother to hide.
“What are we gonna dream about, tonight?” he asks, taking Ivy’s hands in his own. Maddie taught them this routine years ago, when they were first trying to get Ivy to sleep in a ‘big girl bed’, and it’s managed to stick.
“Unicorns,” Ivy answers quickly. It’s always unicorns, and has been for months. Tommy’s quite sure that unicorns must be in every dream she ever has, because they are ubiquitous in all of their lives now. She has a unicorn backpack with a unicorn pencil case and a unicorn lunch box, and no less than seven stuffed unicorn toys in bed with her at this very moment, tucked under the unicorn comforter where she is lying, wearing unicorn pyjamas. Even Tommy dreams of unicorns - just last night, he had to ride a unicorn into a wildfire while carrying buckets of water in both hands.
But he still closes her hand into a fist and squeezes it tight before kissing it. “Unicorn dreams it is.” He pulls her in close for a hug. “I love you to the moon and back.”
“I love you all the way to Pluto,” she says back to him, because Oliver Jeffers taught her that the moon is a one year drive away and Pluto is an eleven thousand year drive away, and Ivy is both decent at maths and eager to get the last word.
He kisses her softly on the forehead then pulls back, ready to get up and turn off the light. But Ivy tugs on his sleeve, so he crouches down next to the bed.
“What is it, baby?” he asks her.
“Do you still love Daddy to the moon and back?” she asks, her voice small.
Tommy suppresses a sigh. God, kids are perceptive.
“I still love your Daddy all the way to Pluto,” he promises, trying to reassure her.
“Why are you fighting, then?” she asks.
Tommy strokes Ivy’s hair. “Sometimes people who love each other still fight sometimes,” he explains. “Like when Bandit and Chilli built the swingy chair.”
Ivy’s face is screwed up in concentration. “And then they were happy again?”
“That’s right,” Tommy says.
She doesn’t look mollified yet, though. “Will you ever stop loving each other? Like Sarah’s mum and dad?”
“I don’t think so,” Tommy says truthfully. “There’s too many things I love about him.”
“Like how he always gets the voices right?”
Tommy laughs. Evan is very good at reading stories. It’s always seemed to come naturally to him, whereas Tommy never manages to get the voices quite right.  “Yeah, like that,” he agrees. “And how he makes me laugh all the time, and how he knows so many different things” -  he hears Ivy’s door creak slightly, and feels two sets of eyes on him now, both watching him intently - “and how he cares so much about helping other people, and how he never gives up.”
He looks up to see Evan smiling softly at him.
Tommy stands up. “It’s time to sleep, now, Ives,” he says, and this time she doesn’t protest.
“Night Papa,” she yawns sleepily, curling in on herself and hugging one of her many toy unicorns.
Tommy turns out the light as he exits the room, then grabs Evan’s hand and pulls him silently towards their own bedroom.
“Evan,” he says as soon as they enter the room, his voice quiet so that Ivy shouldn’t be able to hear them.
Evan cuts him off before he can say anything. “I’m so sorry, Tommy. I really am.”
He’s said that so many times the past few hours, ever since Tommy met him at the hospital that afternoon, and suddenly Tommy feels so guilty for making him feel like he has to say it.
Tommy pulls him closer, puts a hand on the small of his back and another on his shoulder, as though they’re going to dance instead of talk. “I know, love.”
“You- you know I love you and Ivy more than anything; that I always want to come home to you.” His right hand is clenched tightly, and Tommy grabs it and unfurls it gently, running a thumb over the fingernail marks Evan has unwittingly left there.
“Evan,” Tommy says again, and finally Evan stops and looks at him. “You don’t have to apologise. I’m sorry I made you feel like you do. This is my fault, not yours.”
“No, but I - I keep doing this dangerous shit, and-”
Tommy doesn’t like to cut Evan off. But he doesn’t like watching him beat himself up either, so the decision isn’t hard.
“You can’t help it,” he says firmly. Because he’s figured it out.
It was an old habit he’d fallen into, a retread of the arguments they’d had early on in their relationship, when Evan just couldn’t seem to get it into his head how important he was to Tommy. How he didn’t get to sacrifice himself anymore, because he had someone who needed him, who was waiting for him at home.
Instinctively, when Tommy had gotten Bobby’s call today, he’d assumed that it was the same thing, that Evan had forgotten about it again, and to be honest, it had hurt. That they still weren’t enough.
But he’d realised his mistake when he was getting Ivy ready for bed that night. When she’d run from the bathroom to her bedroom after he’d clearly told her not to, and had slipped to the ground because her socks hadn’t had enough grip.
“It’s about performance, not knowledge,” Ivy’s occupational therapist had explained to Tommy and Evan once, shortly after they'd found out that she has ADHD. “She knows exactly what she’s meant to do, and if she could do it, she would.” It was why explaining the rules to Ivy has never really worked, because she already knows them all. She knows she isn’t meant to call out in class, or snatch toys away from other children, or go to the bathroom without asking the teacher - she just doesn’t have the impulse control to stop herself.
And Evan knows that he needs to come home to Tommy and Ivy. If he could stop himself from going ‘full-Buck’, he would.
Which is why it’s Tommy who should be apologising.
He moves his thumb in little circles against Evan’s shoulder, knowing that Evan finds the movement soothing. “You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just how your brain works.”
Evan’s breath catches a little, and Tommy doesn’t know if it's relief or something else until he speaks. “I don’t know how to stop it,” he says.
Tommy brings him close, squeezing him tighter. “You don’t have to, love,” he says, heart aching at the words. “I’m sorry I made you feel that way.” He leans back again, and places his fingers under Evan’s chin. “I love your brain.”
Evan leans forward, and rests his head against Tommy’s shoulder. “Just my brain?” he asks.
Tommy pretends to consider it. “I guess your spleen is pretty great, too.”
Something for @bucktommypositivityweek. I know it's a day late now, but this one is for Day 1 - What they both love about each other.
