My siblings in Primus, holy fucking shit. I made an Optimus Height Chart. This took me.. SO LONG TO DO. Were y'all aware of how many Optimus designs there are?? Because I don't have all of them on this chart, and I still have TWENTY NINE (29, a 2 and a 9) out of the THIRTY SIX (36, a 3 and a 6) that exist. I didn't include the SEVEN (7) because either they were just a temporary upgraded form, or I already had multiple designs from that universe that were the same height and having all of them is redundant and repetitive.

40 fucking years and nearly as many distinct designs, I deserve a medal, honestly. Optimus has been in every single piece of media the Transformers franchise has ever made. Working on this in tandem with the Megatron one was a wild choice of mine, but I did it.

I included Optimus Primal on this chart. Both are named Optimus, I should not have to explain myself. Big Monkey and Big Truck are the same. No, your honour, I do not plead insanity; why do you ask?

Quick Disclaimer, if any of the images look weird, it's because I had to stitch a few separate images together to create a full body shot of the character.

G1 Beast Wars V1 - ~9 Feet (Primal. Straight from TFWiki, converted to feet and rounded, the tiniest baby man gorilla)

G1 Beast Machines - ~8 Feet (Primal. The wiki failed me, but I found a old forum discussion where they made a chart comparing all the BW/M characters. Glorious stuff, I commend their effort.)

G1 Beast Wars V2 - ~10 Feet (Primal. TFWiki with the clutch, I will not always be this lucky.)

Earth Spark - ~15 Feet (Prime. No official numbers have been given, but I have already figured out how tall Bee is, and I was able to compare the two and get a good estimate. This is the shortest non-animal universe to date holy shit. Look at this, I'm showing my work

RID 2001 - ~16 Feet (Prime. TFWiki once more, we love one source for everything)

Unicron Trilogy V2&3/ENG&CYB - ~16 Feet (Prime. For the uneducated, the Unicron Trilogy has given each of its 3 seasons separate names and 3 separate art styles. These are the designs used in Energon (S2) and Cybertron (S3). The Wiki had Cybertron's numbers but not Energon's, so for my own sanity, I decided the two were the same height. I could have done something in between Cybertron's and Armada's (S1) numbers, but there was a lot of float between the two)

G1 Beast Wars V3 - ~16 Feet (Primal/Optimal Optimus, this is the result of a fusion between Primal and Prime. The TFWiki says this design is like 40 feet tall, but if that is true, Rattrap, a character stated to be 1.8m or ~6f tall across several sources across several different languages, is actually not that tall. So I call bullshit, this guy is 2.6 Rattraps tall, making him around 16f or 4.9m tall. Checkmate, I win)

Prime Wars V1 - ~17 Feet (Primal. Slight spoilers for further into this chart but I decided that the Prime Wars Trilogy and the Netflix Cybertron Trilogy Optimuses were the same height as the Gen 1 design, because they're nearly identical. So comparing Primal to Prime, Primal comes up to about Prime's tits, bada bing bada boom)

Netflix Cybertron Trilogy - ~17 Feet (Primal. Identical explanation to above, don't want to repeat myself)

One V1 - ~17 Feet 10 inches (Prime. Okay, the Wiki says 32.534 feet, and I call Bullshit. A: These numbers are sourced from the Walmart Promotional AR Experience that came out before the movie. B: There are three decimal points, and that number does not convert into a whole number in meters (which is originally what I thought was weird about it). C: The director has said that this movie is both canon to the LA movies and its own separate canon. I already stated all of this in my Bumblebee chart post, and I will be dying on this hill. This is as short as we see OP in the movie, him at his tallest should match his KCV height, he's never taller than Megsy, so knock a couple feet off the biggest number and voila, my brain hurts)

One V2 - ~18 Feet 10 Inches (Prime. Same explanation as above, but taller than he was without his cog, because he got bigger)

Gen 1 - ~19 Feet (Prime. TFWiki has saved me the effort of figuring it out myself)

Prime Wars - ~19 Feet (Prime. As I said before, since this design is identical to Gen 1, it is the same height)

Netflix Cybertron Trilogy - ~19 Feet (Prime. I've said it twice now, identical, therefore same height)

Knight/Capel-Verse - ~19 Feet 4 inches (Primal. No Robot height given, I have his monkey form height from TFWiki, but comparing him to Optimus he's only a few inches shorter)

Prime Wars V2 - ~ 20 Feet (Primal. Compared to Prime, Prime comes up to about Primal's nose area, and we all know how tall I think this Prime is)

Animated - 20 Feet 6 Inches (Prime. This number actually comes from @phoenix-inanis and the glorious calculations they have done on the TFA Characters. Knight/Capel-Verse - 20 feet 10 Inches (Prime. TFWiki has graced me with a number)

Cyberverse - 21 Feet (Prime. Oh, shitty screenshot from a random Russian YouTube video; you treat me so well. I would adore a better scan of this if anyone has one)

Unicron Trilogy V1/ARM - 22 Feet 11 Inches (Prime. Technically, this number is for the Armada video game, which isn't exactly canon to the show. But I don't have any other numbers and my brain is tired, so CANON IT IS)

Aligned Cont. RID15 V1 - 25 Feet (Prime. I'm really proud of this one: I can already hear some of your questions. "But I thought his second form was as tall as his TFP V2 form, and this one was as tall as TFP V1," "but his V1 forms and V2 forms look like each other," You thought Wrong!! And I can Prove it!! Let's refresh ourselves on the height difference between TFP V1 Prime and Bee.

As we can see, Bee comes up to the top of Optimus's hips. Lovely. Now, let's look at RID15's height difference when Optimus first returns. Keep in mind that RID15 Bee and TFP Bee are the same height.

Look, Bee comes up to Optimus's chest in this form, not his hips. He comes up to a similar point on Bulkhead in the previous picture. Let's look at Prime's second form.

This is from the intro; yes, Bee is crouched, but look, if he stood straight he only comes up to about Prime's hips, JUST LIKE IN TFP!!! With this evidence, we can conclude that Prime's first RID15 form is similar in height to Bulkhead! I was so fucking excited to show y'all this, I was so proud of myself, I still am)

Bayverse V1 - 28 Feet (Prime. From the first 4 movies. Straight from TFWiki, because Mr. Michael Bay loves me)

Bayverse V2 - 29 Feet (Prime. Only in The Last Knight. Mr. Bay has lovingly kissed my forehead because he always gives me numbers for his movies)

Aligned Cont. WF/FOC/TFP V1/RID15 V2 - 30 Feet (Prime. TFWiki/Fandom/Me respectively. I love you, Video Game Info Screens. I am still pretty syced about figuring RID15 out, oh I feel so good. Almost makes me forget about how FREAKISHLY HUGE this universe is. And how the games concretely prove this fact)

Aligned Cont. TFP V2 - 35 Feet (Prime. Yes this number comes from Fandom, but this entire universe is monstrously huge for no reason, I believe it. Go look at my Bee chart for more in-depth and insane rant about how huge this universe is compared to other universes, it's at the end of the post)

Some basic info and arcs for Primus Chronicles

Primus Chronicles takes place in a timeline between 1984 to 1987.

The main setting is a small town in California called Mesa Heights. It sits on the border between the Californian desert and a forest. The Autobot Ark is beneath the mesa the town takes it name from. Meanwhile, the newly restored Nemeis, the Decepticon ship, is beneath the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Los Angeles.

The main plot is seperated into six arcs taking place with specific years for every arc.

Arc 1 - 1984

Takes place in the latter half of the year and is more episodic in nature after the three-part season premiere. Reminiscent to G1 and Animated for plots.

Arc 2 - 1985

Takes place in the first half of the year and presents a plot surrounding the Allspark. Bayverse and Prime elements are present.

Arc 3 - 1985

Happens during the summer for a couple of weeks. Plot surrounds Carla being kidnapped by the Decepticons and taken to Cybertron. While the Autobots prepare to rescue her, she not only gets to see how and why the Decepticons are the way they are, but she also watches memory files from Optimus Prime placed into a device called a badgepad by the Matrix of Leadership. The memories consist of Optimus and Megatron's backstory and how their friendship fell apart. Very TFOne inspired.

Arc 4 - 1985 to beginning of 86

Focuses on character development after Carla's rescue while new concepts are introduced. This includes the multiverse, time travel, and a finale plot with the Quintessons and 13 Primes. Includes G1 shenanigans, Animated stuff, Beast Wars with the time travel, and Earthspark references.

Arc 5 - 1986

(This is where things get intense) Follows more character develop, but this time in the form of elements reminiscent of the Transformer '86 movie. Spoiler alert; Hot Rod becomes Prime after Optimus dies to Megatron and he now has a huge burden on his shoulders.

Arc 6 - 1987

The final arc! Inspired by IDW's More Than Meets the Eye/Lost Light, the plot consists of a quest to find the those of the 13 Primes who are absent from Cybertron to charge up the Matrix to take on Unicron. The quest also has the purpose of reviving Optimus Prime so that he may confront Galvatron/Megatron and free him from Unicron's control.

Transformers Skybound Reading update: Issues 6 & 7!! 📚

As a Soundwave enjoyer, these were crazy. Thoughts and spoilers below ⤵️

I gotta say I feel like someone on the team likes Soundwave haha. This fella feels like he always gets the short end of the stick. Always incredibly efficient, loyal and quiet, but never rewarded. But in this one!! Soundwave steps up! I had to go over it a few times to just take it in and be like "Wow Soundwave really just did that?!?"

It kinda felt weird almost, like maybe we're getting too much from him? You know when a character usually occupies a quiet role and they work on something in the background (a scheme or something). Additionally him really caring for his Cassettes is something I love so much so getting that too, I almost feel spoiled! Or like maybe this is too good? Like something horrible is gonna happen?haha I dunno.

The panels too of Soundwave fighting Screamer and them all saying his name!! OOF!!! *Chefs kisses*!!

I loved this so much too T__T ahhhhh

Also I feel so bad for Thundercracker! He lost both his seeker bros T_T I kinda hope he finds out how Skywarp died actually and maybe goes on his own again like in IDW1.

Arcee being trained by magnus is a cool idea! Magnus always fluctuates in importance and age so much between interpretations!

She looks so adorable here. Poor baby T_T (also is she holding Magnus' hand?? 🥺)

And I was very happy to see Warpath for 1 second 😭 rip silly guy (also Kup)

I'm enjoying it so far! One thing that always gets me confused in Transformers series is just how much it takes for them to die? Like when should I be heartbroken or can they just be put back together? IDW1 eventually makes it pretty clear, but I'm still a bit confused with Skybound.

Some characters have gotten killed off and I'm just like "Dang... you too??" Starscream doesn't count because he's Starscream. You could put him in a blender, feed him to Unicron, have him poop him out and then be tossed in the dark universe and he'd still come back! Probably with a spiffy new paint job too!

Anyway the whole things with Sparkplug and the Matrix ehhhh I'm not sure what's going on? I get the a soul for a soul kinda thing, but I'm not sure how i feel about it 🤔well! I'll find out eventually! It's just different and interesting rn! 🤔

I have one more issue so I'll yap more then! What do you think so far?? Please no spoilers tho for the next issues! (8 onwards since I'm reading the physical releases!) I'm curious what your thoughts are!

Unicron 6 spoilers - (Op/Ss ish) add on short

“Prime?”

“Yes, Starscream?”

“Are we on the moon?” 

“I think so, Starscream.”

There’s an ache deep in his...everything. Everything hurt. From the tips of his wings to the hinge of his canopy, all the down to thrusters dug into sponge soil of the dustball moon. Starscream groans and beside him Optimus Prime does the same, deep tone of his voice rattling where bodies touch in brief brushes of arms.

“So...not dead?” There had been a flash of light, the sensation of dying, then this. Some grand intervention of Primus at the last moment, or their sparks lingering to ensure their deaths were not in vain. He didn’t know. Hopefully Optimus did. He never was one to patiently wait for answers.

“I’m not certain.” Prime responds and Starscream can’t help but think he sounds exhausted by this. Maybe disappointed. Very much like a mech denied a long rest. He’d always found Optimus a morbid sort, perhaps he was right all along.

“How are we still here?”

“Hn.” It hurts to turn, look towards the other. Bright colors spattered with dust and scorch marks, battles leaving fractures across the great mech’s frame. He looks beat to hell and a tiny part of Starscream, the Decepticon in him, finds it absolutely hilarious.

The rest of him, the part that was ready to die if it meant putting a stop to this mess once and for all, feels the same exhaustion. A haunting question of “what now” trailing over his thoughts as the universe seems fine without them. 

Its only a little disappointing, whatever brought him back (if that indeed was what happened) seemed not to think highly of Starscream’s own valiant efforts to clear his name in death. It would have been such a wonderful story. Starscream, former Decepticon - once leader of Cybertron - fallen hero redeemed in selfless act!  All that tossed out the window because why? 

Please be alive, please be alive.

“Starscream?” Optimus Prime’s voice is strained and tired, his mouth moving in limited motion. Bright optics gaze above at the endless sea of stars and debris flooding within the pull of earth. Wretched planet. Starscream wanted to hate it. Couldn’t.

“What?” He needed to find his brothers, see who survived.  Windblade would certainly require his assistance bringing in this new era of Cybertronian life...perhaps Bumblebee would be happy to see him?

“Five minutes.” 

Starscream’s wondering where Megatron was in all of this?! What hole did he crawl into-where was HE hiding?! Starscream almost died (maybe did die) to save a universe he tried to destroy so why wasn’t he---

“Starscream.” He jumps at the feel of Prime’s hand curling around his own, holding tight as Starscream’s instincts told him to pull away. Prime didn’t let go.

“What are you doing?!” Snaps and it aches every joint in his body to struggle, yet weak and futile against even the tired strength of the Prime. “Let go of me I have to get back down there!” 

“Five minutes.” Optimus repeats, never looking away from stars above, wearing a look of peace Starscream can’t recall ever seeing before. Alive or dead, he’s content. Starscream can’t fathom the feeling. “Just play dead with me for five minutes. No scheming, no fighting. Just rest for five minutes. We deserve it.”  

“Death has cost you your mind.” Frowns, but stops fighting the grip firm around his servo. A gentle hold tethering him to the universe whereas seconds ago Starscream was nothing but light and pain and second thoughts.

He gives an indignant huff, settling back down onto soil both cold and uncomfortable. Pouting as he tries to turn off his thoughts, focus only on stars and the continuation of...well EVERYTHING. He can feel Optimus near, the radiating warmth brushing his wing and side, and it’s far too comfortable. 

“Five minutes then, Prime.” If he’s already dead, five minutes can’t kill him.

“Please, call me Orion.” 

“Absolutely not.” Refuses as Orion Pax chuckles beside him, hand giving his a gentle squeeze, and doesn’t let go.

Soundwave’s death in Unicron 6 was devastating - I’m going to say that straight away. 

It wrenched out my heart and it’s really sad to even think about.

But that said, it was beautifully done.

And not just with the actual art, which was jaw-dropping, but also thematically.

Soundwave, the True Decepticon, who believed in true equality and unity for all - “Till all are one” - achieved that for a while here.

He united everyone, living and dead to help save the universe, ultimately sacrificing himself to achieve that dream in the process.

He really, really did it.

So, well done Soundwave, once again, you did good.

So, depending on how far in you’ve gotten, this is spoilers.

Short answer is, yes, there’s an imprinting based on who is able to access the panel first, but that loyalty can change based on a number of factors: through force (which both sides did to some degree during the war), through their own choice, as well as persuasion.

Now comes the spoiler answers. Sources are Dub and Subs, mostly via episodes at the end of season 2/the Unicron battles arc, along with some of the comics.

The Minicons are creations of Unicron: channeled chaos that originally functioned as a sort of hivemind, but through a butterfly effect intervention were given varying degrees of free will and independence by the human kids (episode source: Drift).

This allowed the Minicons to strike out on their own. They began founding colonies on the moons (including the one Unicron disguised himself as) and on war-torn Cybertron. We don’t know how far back this was, but it is estimated to have been roughly 6-8 million years ago (they were sent away 4 million years ago, for reference). During this time they chose independence, but were eventually forced or decided to pick sides until some sort of agreement was made to have them leave.

It isn’t known who made this decision among the Autobots, or how they were able to convince the Minis to go along with it, but there are a few blog posts from the Japanese writers that hint it might have been both Optimus and Rodimus that figured it out. Some Minicons did choose to stay on Cybertron (Rollout and Knockout, for example), but the rest chose freedom.

When revived, they make the choice to follow the one that activated them or not (Megatron tried to take Swindle, for example, and the Mini was like “um actually no thanks,” and the choice was seemingly respected).

Post-armada, most strike out on their own. Sparkplug joined Ultra Magnus’ crew in Force of Habit (apparently Leader-1/Clench joined him but we don’t see that in the short story), some stay working with the Autobots or Decepticons, but their independence and connection to Unicron is seemingly respected by both sides.

Idk it’s pretty fascinating.

"I'm sorry Star," Thundercracker said. "I thought you'd be ok. You're always ok. You're Starscream."

"I'm sorry Star.  I said I trusted you. I don't think you ever actually lied to me.  I should have had more faith in you," Wheeljack said with a sigh.

Optimus waited for everyone to speak their piece.  "We gather here today to morn the loss of Starscream of Vos, and to honor his sacrifice. If not for him, we likely would not be here today."

"It's about time someone acknowledged how important I am," Starscream said, crossing his arms.

"Starscream, shh!" Bumblebee chastised.

"Why? No on can hear me."

Bee sighed, "I can hear you."

"It's too bad Megatron's not here," he said, ignoring him.

"He's in prison Star."

"As he should be! After everything he did to me!" he shouted.  "I wonder he would feel about knowing I saved the universe.

"I can't take this.  I'm telling them."

"No not yet! I want to hear everyone mourning me.  They took my brilliance for granted, now they know what it's like without me.  A sad, bleak world without Starscream-"

"Starscream's not dead," Bumblebee blurted loudly.

"Hmm, spoilsport," Starscream pouted.

Everyone looked at him. "What?" Thundercracker asked, a hint of hope in his voice.

"Bumblebee, there is no way Starscream could have survived that explosion," Optimus said gently.

"There was no way I could have survived Shockwaves chronal drive singularity. But I did. And Starscream was the only one who could see me when I was trapped in infraspace. I don't know why, we have… some kind of bond. But now… I see him."

"You see Starscream?" Wheeljack asked.  "Here? Right now?"

Bumblebee nodded, "He's standing right next to me."  He got various looks from the bots there. Everything from pity, to hope, to flat out disbelief. "You know I was still here after I died."

"Bumblebee, there really isn't any evidence-"

"Wheeljack I remember it! I remember everything. How else could I know everything that happened while I was dead?"

"You actually see him? Standing next to you? And you can talk to him?" Skywarp asked.

Bumblebee nodded.

"No," Thundercracker said flatly.  "We're his trinemates. If anyone would be able to see Starscream's disembodied spark it would be us."

Starscream scoffed, "After how you left me?"

"We haven't been a trine for a long time TC," Skywarp said sadly. "Not really."

"I still don't buy it," Thundercracker folded his arms over his cockpit.

"Tell him maybe he'll believe it when I tell everyone about the time he hit a spire and nearly crashed 30 stories down because he was so busy trying to compose a sonnet for that new seeker at the academy."

Bumblebee glanced sideways at him, "Starscream wants me to remind you of when you hit a spire and almost crashed because you were writing a sonnet."

Thundercracker's jaw dropped, "What?"

"And Skywarp, used to teleport into my quarters unannounced, so I put up a dampening field. Next time he tried that, he teleported into the ceiling and was stuck there until I came home and turned it off."

"Skywarp, he wants me to tell you about the time you got stuck in the ceiling of his quarters because of a dampening field he put up."

"Starscream? Are- are you really here?" Skywarp asked, taking a step towards Bumblebee, or rather, the empty space next to him.

"Bumblebee, how do you know these things?" Optimus asked.

"And Optimus.  Tell him that I'd be happy to divulge the details of the little conversation we had outside the council meeting that one time."

"Starscream…"

"Hey, I haven't said anything. Yet."

Bumblebee sighed, "I'm sorry Optimus, but he wants me to mention a conversation outside a council meeting…"

Optimus' optics went wide.  Slag, Bumblebee thought. He was blackmailing Optimus now.  He shot Starscream a glare.  "He's real. He's here, just like I was.  It was… lonely being a ghost. I didn't like it, and Starscream shouldn't have to go through what I did.  We have to find a way to help him, to bring him back, like you helped me."

Optimus and Wheeljack exchanged glances.

"Starscream I'm sorry! I'm sorry I left! I din't think anything would happen to you! I was mad, I was wrong," Thundercracker practically sobbed.

"Maybe it wasn't all your fault TC," Starscream said softly.  "Maybe if I can come back, we can start over."

"Starscream says-"

"Don't say that!"  Bumblebee jumped, looking up at him.  Starscream sighed.  "Just tell him… whatever," he said, looking away sadly.

Bumblebee looked at him for a minute.  "Starscream says he doesn't blame you, and he wants a second chance to have what you used to have."

"I told you not to tell him that!" Starscream hissed.

"He does?" Thundercracker asked, looking between Bumblebee and the empty air beside him.

"I want that too Star," Skywarp said.

"Yeah, me too," Thundercracker said, "If you're really real."

Starscream reached out toward him, only to have his hand pass right through his plating.  "Uh, now I know how you must have felt," he said, withdrawing back into himself.

"At least I know you're real and not convinced you're a hallucination," Bumblebee smiled softly.

"What?" Wheeljack asked.

"Oh, nothing. So are you going to help me bring Starscream back?"

"Yes," Skywarp said immediately.  Thundercracker followed suit and nodded.

"If Starscream is really trapped as you were, I do believe we owe it to him to do everything in our power to bring him back," Optimus said after a moment.

It was months of work, trying to open a door to the infraspace where Starscream's life force was trapped.  Starscream spent nearly all his time with Bumblebee. The other had expected him to spend more time with his trine, even if they couldn't see him.  Skywarp and Thundercracker would come to him at times, they would have conversations through him.  It was never anything overly personal, but it was still strange being a translator between dimensions.

Finally, after months and countless failed attempts, Wheeljack had figured it out.  It would take time, he said, it was like throwing darts, their aim had to be perfect to be able to bring him back.

Starscream would vanish whenever the machine was turned on, only to return when they failed to hit their mark.

"It worked," Wheeljack commed him one day.  Bee had been busily going through a datapad and hadn’t even notice Starscream disappear.

"What?!"

"It worked.  He's back."

Bumblebee transformed, driving as fast as he could through the corridors to the lab.  "Starscream!" He called, finally seeing the other corporeal again.  He transformed, running up the last fee steps to the other and throwing his arms around him.

Starscream nearly shrieked in surprise, "Um, good to see you too Bee."  Bumblebee didn't let go, and after a moment, Starscream reciprocated the hug, "It's good to feel you too."  It sounded so stupid but if anyone would understand it would be Bumblebee.  "I suppose I owe you now," he added after a minute.

"You don’t owe me anything Star," Bumblebee said, still hugging him tightly.  "I got exactly what I wanted."

Starscream: Well, looks like it’s time to sacrifice myself heroically despite none of my actions since Barber regained control of my character arc making that seem like anything I would do.

Soundwave: I guess the Enigma of Combination kills people now but at least my final act will make Slide shut the fuck up about how much she hates Optimus for ten fucking seconds.

Optimus: I’m going to pontificate at Unicron’s nameless creator who was apparently alive inside his core this entire time for half the book until the macguffin from a shitty Hasbroverse crossover that nobody liked kills all three of us.

Unicron: I had more personality in Energon than this comic arc.

Shockwave: Despite being the big bad of the entire fucking IDW universe, I don’t get any sort of sendoff, Prowl just tells me I’m wrong and that’s it.
