thinking about writing a Soulmate!Au but it’s Sonamy angst. Amy, fully expecting to be soulmates w/ Sonic gets an indicator that she isn’t. And with her passion for fortune telling, I think it’d be especially devestating to know that destiny and fortune denied her someone she genuinely loved. 

and maybe Sonic already knew she wasn’t his soulmate? But never told her? and winds up hurting her more?

nobody talks about how sad sonamy is like actually especially now. Back then it was just a fangirl who loved sonic and wouldn't leave him alone. Sega didn't try to necessarily show that sad part of chasing someone who doesn't love you or write amy to be taken seriously (unfortunately) about her unrequited love for sonic, because she never gave up. but now, she has. She still loves sonic. Of course she does. When you love someone like that you don't truly ever stop loving them. But she is moving on from sonic. And sonic is matured now, and Sega has literally made it official that he wishes he could've told her earlier on that he loved her. I'm assuming so, because what else would he be talking about. Like to tell her to turn the oven off or something? It's crazy. And it breaks my heart. But it makes me so, so happy at the same time.

It breaks my heart because this is how it will always be now. They are both grown, and matured enough to realize things. But what they both are realizing are completely different things. Amy has realized she needs to move on, and she is, because no matter how hard she'd had tried over the years she never truly got to sonic. And it's even more sad because you know she still loves him though. But she's doing it for herself. And for sonic, he's realizing he did have feelings for her. He's not running away from his feelings now because he's grown as a person and confronts it now. But it's too late. And I'm gonna sob my eyes out because I love this duo a lot for these reasons because it's lowkey really tragic how this is gonna end-trick question it will never end. That's why it's so sad to me. It's like a love that is too late or something. A love that has gone on too long there's no use for action anymore. So you just leave it alone. But it will never go away. They still live on. As friends, and I'm pretty sure in a serious note sonic is aware of how she feels now. Because him alone saying he wishes he could've said something sooner proves that he knows she is done with him now. They're still friends, just without that question mark at the end anymore. It makes me happy at the same time because They're growing up. But it hurts my heart. But we too have to let it go, as amy is doing along with sonic.

Thank you! No, don't like sonamy, not at all. It's actually one of my most disliked ships. I just like it when maybe characters don't like the other back. Ever.

And i just don't think what Amy wants in a relationship Sonic can give. Not that that means I don't like Amy's infatuation with sonic, because i do love it about her, especially when it was much more childish. I actually wish it wasn't toned down so much. And a little teasing from Sonic can be fun, as long as it's not leading her on. I enjoy their dynamic as unrequited.

AWH TAILS BABY. I've enjoyed how games and comics lately have been leaning more into Tails' age, especially with his character acting, without dumbing his character down even a little bit. He's a genius, but he's still a kid, and I love that. I think this fleshes out his character a lot

Sonjet is at its best when unrequited. Jet can have a big fat crush on Sonic but Sonic must be painfully aroace about it. It's funnier this way. I don't like them nearly as much as an actual couple, though.

Knuxouge is similar to Sonjet in that it's at its best when unrequited. But GOD the contemporary fandom version I often see is so damn annoying. Also as a fellow 16 year old I'd rather die than date a 18 year old. But I'm also just super stingy about age gaps between minors in general, so.

I used to hate this ship with a burning passion lmao. It was up there with Sonamy in levels of hate. I've warmed up to it quite a bit since it's a big part of the Knuckles Western AU fic I'm writing, though. But only my specific version, which is:

Knuckles is in puppy love with Rouge; Rouge uses this to take advantage of Knuckles. She teases him, flirts with him, strings him along but ultimately breaks his heart because she doesn't, and will never, reciprocate his feeling. Rouge can hold a fondness for Knuckles, sure, but that fondness must be strictly platonic in nature.

Oh and about the hc sexuality thing, I hc Rouge as an aromantic lesbian. She's playing kissy face with Wave rn.

There needs to be an "only I understand them" square on this bingo card 'cause that's how I feel about Knuxouge.

Regardless of amys original intention, I'm ok if she started out as this character with and unrequited love but that trope has gotten very tiring over the years. I dont mind if she grows past her crush or if sonic starts reciprocating but the whole unrequited love thing should definitely go away. Its is terrible to keep seeing amy rejected. This dynamic does no good for either character its just that either sega just has to stick with sonamy or stop teasing it. Im sick of the whole will the wont they. Either have amy just stop completely chasing sonic which I think thats the pattern ive seen lately with them or establish their relationship!

How does Amy react to the prize kisses in those sonic Riders prompts?

At first she’d probably be confused why Sonic kissed a guy— and when she’d figure that he’s either gay or bi or what have you, then she’d be confused why he’d choose Shadow. Kinda like, “Shadow isn’t good and I’m good so why would Sonic like him instead of me????” And then she’d just get straight up jealous—pouty and mopey and maybe even frustrated/angry.

NGL I can see why some believe Amy should just give up her crush for Sonic, but I don’t think she has to, or it’s not a necessity to “fix” her character. Should she give it up because he doesn’t exactly reciprocate the feelings? Well there’s different ways to look at that… But it’s kinda the same as saying Tails should give up being his sidekick or Knuckles giving up on being his rival; I barely see anyone saying that those two should change their dynamics. Seriously why should Amy’s be altered? Everyone has to right to like/dislike her and/or SonAmy. Still, weather we like it or not, SEGA/Sonic Team made Amy to be Sonic’s love interest, even though it’s unrequited love and not the familiar bf/gf couple status we’re more familiar with.

My guess is partly because with the other love interests(Elise, Sally, etc.) across the media, Sonic was written to give them his attention. He doesn’t give that same treatment to Amy. Girls have hugged Sonic, but it’s only Amy he’s ran away from. The dynamics of Sonally and SonElise had been put on center stage whereas SonAmy never did that. Yes it’s for the plot but you get what I mean? Sally and Elise (I’m using those two a lot ‘cause they were the other main ships with Sonic) don’t have a “bad” rep for being obsessed with Sonic or called a “stalker” Those words, obsessed and stalker, turn people away.

The SonAmy dynamic can take the audience out of their comfort zone a lot more compared to the other dynamics which are more niche or feel easier to deal with. The dynamic between Sonic and Amy is a more bumpy ride, it’s more complicated. It’s not a surprise that the ship with the more centered relationships and the calmer or mature girl is the default in people’s minds as the “better” healthier relationship. It takes more thinking to get an actual idea why the dynamic between Sonic and Amy works the way it does.

I like mutual pining SonAmy in Sonic Boom, but otherwise I personally think it's more interesting to explore as unrequited, and how the feelings affect their friendship with each other. But that's just me.
