translated a new chapter of dedede de pupupu na monogatari (also known as kirby manga mania) by hirokazu hikawa! meta knight appearances are a rare treat in this manga, but i always absolutely love hikawa's take on him. a cool, popular DORK.

I recently realized that newer NJPW fans might not know about Hiromu's alter-ego Cogito!
Tumblr media
Cogito first appeared while Hiromu was unable to wrestle for an extended period of time due to a bad injury in July of 2018. During that time, it wasn't clear if Hiromu would ever be able to wrestle again, and for a long while after the injury, he mostly stayed away from social media.
A little less than a year into his recovery, Hiromu started posting on twitter and instagram as the mysterious artist Cogito.
Cogito posts in English and Japanese, and always wears a mosaic face mask. Cogito's artwork also appeared on some official NJPW merch along with a collaboration with Sanrio character Cogimyun.
Cogito never uses Japanese first-person pronouns (which are generally at least somewhat gendered in Japanese) and instead just uses no first-person pronoun or uses Cogito.
Since Hiromu came back to wrestling, Cogito's accounts have mostly gone dormant, but the archives still exist and are worth taking a look at if you haven't seen them before.

Mili from gote to handa!!! these were originally simple doodles but i had to polish it because she's my favorite from the game
#gote to handa#gote and handa#miri gote to handa#or mili.. or milli... im not sure what spelling of her name would be the go to in general fandom translation#love her range of expressions they're so funny so i drew a few here#im still not done clearing up my schedule to go back to my challenge but that dont mean i cant draw in between it :333#would love to draw her more but i have to finish my japanese drills www SOON...#goofy bonus storytime but i debated so much how to draw her prior to this because i didnt know what a junior high was#basically the translation for gote to handa i read described the characters as being in junior high#but im not familiar to english or american school customs outside of movies and such (its feels unreal compared to my culture www)#i tried looking it up but for whatever reason it brought up elementary school... and then middle school?#and i didnt know how to look it up because again im not familiar with english school systems if not superficially HDALJDKAD#so i gave up and read up on japanese school uniform usage and inferred from it that they are middle schoolers#BUT IM STILL SO CONFUSED ON WHAT THE JUNIOR HIGH IS ... i didnt know there were more terms than elementary middle and high school😭😭#in the end its not like how i drew mili is that much different from how i draw characters younger than her tbh BUT I TRY...#just a funny story of how i dont comprehend ... english... american ... school systems at all let me know what a junior high is LOL😭😭#i dont know if its an american or. general english speaking country thing thats why i mention both#is there a catchall word for english country natives in english. there sure is in spanish but would sound strange mixed in www#(i must say the difference between elementary and middle school was crucial because shes said to be in second year)#SO SECOND YEAR OF WHAT WAS. INDEED CRUCIAL because thats a big difference isnt it😭😭😭??? didn't want to draw her too big nor too small lol#and second *year* confused me the most because the term “year” is not used for students younger than what would be high school students her#so yes i was fighting for me life#drotter fights culture shock the story

like yes totk is technically much darker than other zelda games, but is there any emotional weight to it? when the plot consists of these out-of-context cutscenes that you can collect in any random order at any point in the game (or not at all) with zero impact on the plot or link himself? somehow the silly toon zelda game managed to make toon king daphnes of hyrule's sacrifice more heart-wrenching than king rauru of hyrule's, and the toon guy was literally a boat for most of the game

If what I read is true from the Japanese fans’ side, then the anime wouldn’t be as surprisingly well-received as of current if they were to go with their first draft/vision. Especially knowing how transparent the robot has been with its feeling towards Isami, people will not take it with welcoming hands if the staffs proceeded in keeping Bravern’s behavior and current character with the original Isami. People will talk (not like they haven’t already)

i cannot stand those quirky overly-friendly-to-the-point-of-crossing-boundaries teachers and professors who make you do icebreakers or fun facts about yourself at the beginning of the semester bc their questions are always the exact sort of stuff that you never wanna answer. but they just keep asking bc they think you’re just being shy and cute. ‘what are your hobbies? what kind of music do you like? what’s a topic very personal and important to you?’ MAN i am not subjecting myself to public humiliation like that for being very far removed from the norm nor am i opening up about my deep-seated personal problems. i don’t know you i don’t respect you you are not entitled to anything outside of my graded work. i’m just trying to prevent everybody in the room including you and i from becoming incredibly uncomfortable. just take the hint when i deflect your questions and pretend to be boring
#my sociology professor was asking us all for our current favorite song to add to the class playlist that he plays a bit from every morning#even if i had a single favorite song i wouldn’t tell him#even if he wasn’t gonna play it in front of others i wouldn’t tell him#he was like ‘ahhh what a diverse and fascinating sample of different genres we’ve collected here from your responses!’#three taylor swift songs. some respectable rock and rap stuff. basically it#i am not about to submit my japanese robots singing about the most unhinged and frightening topics known to man#some of us actually got bullied as children and learned to never be honest ever again especially not when we don’t have friends with us#i could explain to him why i like the things i like#but i’m not about to be that vulnerable?? hello???? i already know he wouldn’t understand or care even if he didn’t say anything mean#ok hot take but i actually kinda don’t like the discourse surrounding infodumping#like ‘it’s ok to just talk at me about the things you like! :)’ ok but if i don’t have clear confirmation that you like it too#then it feels like you’re just listening to me out of pity#you could be as nice as possible but if you don’t ask followup questions or express any sort of favorite part or interesting detail#i will feel awful and be like ok never doing that again#maybe that’s just my personal flavor of mental illness#i never got like. told to shut up or anything when talking#but i did get the awkward silence or ‘light-hearted’ mockery#so i figured shutting myself up was for the best#peach rambles

DnD character concept: Artificer
So, despite my interest in DnD I have never had a chance to play it. This means jack shit to my fantasy, which immediately latched to the whole concept and started imagining characters, locations, etc.
So i just decided to go through the classes and come up with some interesting concepts for them. Let's go alphabetically and start with the Artificer.
"The clockwork heart"
Cracked glass and bent gears. Pocket watch dropped by a careless nobleman, stomped and forgotten, picked up and traded by a curious kid. Traded for what — you don't remember. The glass is removed, the shards are melted and cover is reformed anew. The gears are taken out one by one, by steady hands holding the tiniest of pincers. There is rhythm and order to things. You know that. You feel that. Hands keep moving, pick up the pieces and slot them into their place. A clank of metal, a tug of a spring, a turn of a screw. Then another. Three more and the hands rest. The ticking is rhythmical, steady, but something is amiss. Your eyes follow the hands with curiosity, watching what they will do next. After a brief pause the cover is removed again, the edge of a spring is bent just a tiny amount and everything is covered again. And pause. The ticking continues, but there is a note there now, one that you feel more than hear. All is right. Your hands rest. For now, the panic subsides. But soon the the chaos will become to much again, demanding to be ordered, to be fixed, and the hands will start moving again. You hope you will find something to fix by then. The ticking inside you used to be soothing, calming, reassuring, but lately you can barely sleep, as it grows louder and louder with each passing day, and subsides ever slower.
There was an explosion. Or so you've been told. You were an apprentice to a talented artificer, helping them make their ambitions a reality, push the limits of what is possible, weaving magic and technology together in ways you couldn't imagine. You weren't as well educated, as experienced, as driven, but you were talented and willing to put in the work. They inspired you, and though it was hard, you kept working. But days, weeks, even months prior to that day turned into a blur, with shattered fragments flashing in the dark. Fire. Pain. Sound. Hands. Their voice. You were found in the smoking ruins of their laboratory, alive but covered in bruises, cuts and burns. One wound was different — a big scar on your chest, almost healed, but one that was not there just a day ago. And the artificer was nowhere to be seen.
Days spent trying to remember what happened, you finally realized: whatever you did together, whoever made a mistake, you paid for it with your life. You remember dying. And then their hands, their voice, arguing with someone. You don't know what your master did to save you, but you are alive, and they are gone. And where you once heard heartbeat, you now hear ticking of gears and twisting of springs.
But as the days kept flowing, you understood that that's not all that changed. You see the world differently, understand it more clearly, sharper, ideas filling your head and your hands being more precise than ever. You build things you never thought you could. Except that you are getting less and less certain, if it is an ability, or a compulsion.
What you don't know, is that your master did not save you, or build the heart that keeps you alive. You were not a victim, You were a sacrifice. A price that your master paid for their communion and ascension with something beyond your comprehension. But whatever it was, it wanted you alive. It gave you this heart, it filled your head with ideas and kept your hands steady. And as you encounter more danger and make mistakes, as you fall in battle and come close to death again, even after your allies bring you back, even after you heal, you feel the ticking getting louder. And one day, as an dagger cut your hand deep as it could, as you were pushing the assassin away, you could swear that instead of the white bone, under the blood flowing from your hand you saw a dull shine of bronze and gold.
