Chapter 7: In Which Ases Challenges a Lady Saviorglows to a duel
Well despite my best efforts and closely contested vote it appears there is a winner.
oh dear [Descriptions of gory violence ahead a lot of them]
A quick ask round gives me the location of the local ruler of Livingfolded.
Unfortunately, I am interrupted. A tall woman wielding copper mace surprises me on the road through town and...
She's armed and dangerous
Come on, my weapon.
OHNO
And just like that it's over.
So that's the end of Ases
Time for vengence.

The new version of Dwarf Fortress is dogshit.
Changed controls, settings that don't save (like running the game in ASCII by default!!), a weird, "nicer" interface… and then if I try and play it like I want to, it gives me this shit.
I did not resize this image. This is how it looks.
You know… v0.47.05 was smart enough to figure out how to properly scale the text-based tiles. v0.50? Nah, bro. Everything's scalable graphics. And mouse-driven. And fucking infuriating.
I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go back to 0.47. If I wanted to play "new" Dwarf Fortress, I'd play the Steam / itch.io version. I don't want to play some fucking weird mangled hybrid that doesn't look or play like I'm used to.
And where the fuck is the intro animation?!
You dropped the ball on this one, Tarn. No joke.

News from Glazednourishes year 11, Summer
Our new tavern draws in new guests. Yes we hired a bard, we need someone to keep all our 9 residents entertained.
Oh I see that's how it is.
I refuse of course, Slyriddle is one of the three best artifacts we have.

Glazednourishes, 11th of Moonstone, Year 11
Time to wreak disproportionate vengence against the giantsea sponge that has been scaring my dwarves.
Yes, that's a great big stack of wooden walls. Is it definitely more than enough to flatten the monster sponge?
yes
It's four storeys tall and built of solid wood, but that doesn't stop me from building it. I've built a support connected to a lever far away so the walls can be collapsed safely.
Let's pull that lever.
Crash and splash. There's a boom on the surface.
A cloud of splinters and river mist is flung up.
It billows over and obscures anything that could be seen below the surface.
I look below the surface.
The giant sponge is dead. Finally, now my dwarves can walk outside without fear. The poor giant sponge.

Aiya! I just turned off the exit pumps for the swimming pool and water is everywhere!
Shoot. A baby drowned.
Wait, Dumat! That's the only daughter of the guy who drowned after the last time I messed with the swimming pool. Guess his family line is just cursed to die in water now.
Just a few more days until the new year. What a way to end this one.
