Cloudberry Felt Cake

Fascinating piece of fruit and such a beautiful symbol of the northern resilience. Somehow it's an important symbol for me as I'm trying to reconnect with my heritage.

As I was reading about cloudberries, I came upon this Finnish idiom: Metsä kuuntelee silloin kun kukaan muu ei (the forest listens when no one else does) and it gave me goosebumps.

@hprecfest day 8: canon-divergence

Canon-divergence in all it's glory means rewrites to me. And I know that the devil herself has worked hard on writing the original books and creating this playground for us, but these authors have worked harder to give the people what they actually want and deserve. And even though I don't read rewrites that much there's a few that's really embedded into my goddamn DNA. So here's three rewrites; two covering basically the same time period (and being oh so different) and one HBP rewrite:

The Hierophant by @hsvh-hp 🩵 29,506, draco/harry

"Again and again, no matter how I lay them out—" And Trelawney pulled a card dramatically from underneath her shawls. "the Hierophant, reversed. . ." Draco lowers his wand on the Astronomy tower. By sunrise, the war is over.

Now this fic is fresh from the oven and I'm basking in it's baked to perfection glory. It's really funny but not in a cracky way, it's just really unhinged and I love it.

If We Could Get to the Moon by @valokki 🩵 121,428 words, draco/harry

Draco has successfully hidden his odd feelings for Harry Potter until the Yule Ball makes them suddenly burst out. Harry notices there's something new about the Slytherin, but he can't quite figure out what. A story that begins in Hogwarts's fourth year and ends around the middle of the eighth. There's a lot of angst and probably even more fluff.

I really enjoyed reading this. It's such a fun, cute, heartbreaking and captivating story. It's really light-hearted, but at the same time not at all?? This fic has references from some of my favorite things (skam and don't ever wipe tears without gloves, which has a much better finnish translation) and it's so utterly good.

Ohhh boyyyy. I've been reading this since summer??? and I'm on chapter 11. It's good but guys I'm scared. The tw list at the end is good to check before diving in if you're unsure, this story deals with a lot of heavy stuff. This fic spans from 4th year to 8th and it is evidently a goddamn journey. My light at the end of the tunnel is the promised eventual happy ending lol

Hello! I was wondering if you could help me find one fic. If I'm not mistaken, once Harry turns sixteen, he discovers that he is going to die. He bonds with Draco on the lake while smoking? I read this fic years ago, if you can't tell, hahaha. It was a quite sad fanfic, Harry does die and there is this feeling of being betrayed by Dumbledore and being used for the cause. Thank you so much!

Currently reading: Just finished The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward (horror, and WOW it was a mind fuck). Fic-wise, just re-read In The Hand by aideomai, which is my favorite aideomai fic (the structure and pacing are top-notch imo). Been enjoying all the kinktuary stuff going around, too!

Last song: I’ve been in the mood for The 1975 lately - the song Fallingforyou in particular. Give it a listen if you’ve never heard it -- it’s great mood music for writing romance -- such a fantastic love song!

Last series: I feel like I never watch anything anymore, but I was bored Saturday and turned on The Woman in the House Across The Street From the Girl In The Window (it’s a spoof on the recent thriller trend of unreliable narrators witnessing something nefarious). It was pretty funny, although I have to admit I mostly watched it because I’m obsessed with Kristen Bell

Sweet/savory/spicy: All are good, but the sweet really calls to me. That’s why I refuse to keep baked goods in the house - I WILL eat them all

Currently working on: 1) a long 6th year / transitioning into wartime Drarry  2) a shorter one about Draco being unable to give up sex with strangers, despite loving Harry. They’re both intense and making me want to write something stupid and cracky

Tämähän oli todella kiva (ja perusteellinen!) tutkimusretki siihen, mitä kaikkea sitä on viimeisimmän puolentoista vuoden aikana tullut kirjoitettua (uusin näistä fikeistä on julkaistu tämän vuoden tammikuussa, vanhin heinäkuussa 2020). Näistä aloitusvirkkeistä jotkin toimivat ihan hyvin yksinään, kun taas toiset kaipaisivat kipeästi peräänsä niitä seuraavia virkkeitä, jotta tarinan alku kuulostaisi kiinnostavammalta.

Vähiten innostava aloitusvirke on The Office -fikissäni Kimpassa kuksiminen on kasuaalimpaa, koska kellonajan toteaminen nyt vaan on tavattoman mälsää. Se on toisaalta ehdottomasti tarkoituskin, hehee. :D Suosikkialoitusvirkkeeni on joko The Man From U.N.C.L.E. -fikissä Kakomiskompleksi, koska virkkeessä annetaan ymmärtää, että oksentaminen olisi Iljalle tavallista, tai sitten Fargo-fikissä Lester Nygaardin muotokuva, koska kyseinen virke on näistä kaikista harkituin aloitusvirke eikä se olisi voinut mitenkään olla vaikka fikin toinen virke. Yleensä mulla ei ole tapana hioa tekstin ihka ensimmäistä virkettä kauhean koukuttavaksi, ennemminkin pyrin muodostamaan muutamasta ensimmäisestä virkkeestä iskevän kokonaisuuden. Silloin se ihan eka virke voi olla tylsähkökin. Yllätyin tosin siitä, että näiden fikkien aloitusvirkkeet olivat näinkin pitkiä, mutulla olisin väittänyt että mulla on keskimäärin hyvin lyhyet ekat virkkeet. :)

Hi there! There's a fic I read sometime back, where Harry, Ron and Hermione polyjuice themselves into random people and go hang out at pubs once every week to avoid the press etc and when Harry and Draco eventually start dating, Draco joins them. That's literally all I remember. I'd be really grateful if you could find this for me, I remember I enjoyed it and would love to read it again!
