this weird universe's vampire lore!

i made a post about this elsewhere at one point but i think it got lost to the depths. sooo round two

vampires have a tendency to forget most of their lives. ed was human once, but he remembers absolutely nothing from that time. as far as he knows he's just been a vampire forever. there are a lot of missing patches in his memory, things loved and lost that have become nothing to him.

vampires are kinda like wizards? they all get weird special mind powers. edward for example has some ability to manipulate electricity/technology, e.g he can make the lights flicker for dramatic effect. fun terrible fact: he makes the speakers shout "daddy's home!" when he returns, much to emma's dismay.

turning someone into a vampire takes three bites. these are traditionally done in both wrists and the neck, probably in a ridiculous vampire ritual. people getting turned actually isn't very common. to fully turn a person always requires a bite to the neck.

vampire bites are extremely painful ! comparable to a wasp sting. also makes your whole body feel like its burning.

however, when vampires bite, most are kind enough to erase the victim’s memories of the whole ordeal. as such they'll just wake up with mysterious puncture wounds and be like "well i had a weird night"

though most vampires don't feed directly from humans. many of them just... have a dealer that gives them blood stolen from blood banks or whatever. its a whole thing. a whole business. vampires love capitalism i guess

most vampires work and live alone. and there's not a lot of them. in your local city there will be approx an average of like 3 vampires. according to scientists. or something.
