Summary: Santi is doing much better at hiding his nerves for his and yours wedding. ( leaving this very blunt, because I'm very bad at explaining things without giving things away.. 😆🤦‍♀️ )

Warnings: mild description of sex.

AN: after I had my moment of being awe of how freaking amazing and handsome he looks in this picture.. I had a few ideas for a story for it. I decided on Santi because Oscar's beautiful grays are shown in that movie, and I think this look fits Santi perfectly for what i have in store for this story.. 🤗💞

This got away from me so fast.. 😆🙈 But I don't care, because I love how it came out. 🤗

The day he proposed was the most magical and emotional day ever.

He took you to one of your guy's favorite spots that you go to when you have your lil relaxcations each month. You both work such busy tiring jobs, so you made a pact to always take a weekend or so off to get away to relax.

This particular place though... It is beautiful cabin on the lake that is always such a dream to be at. Able to fish in the lake, swim in it, go on boat rides.. And it is so clear! There is this little spot right by the water a little bit away from the docks leading to the water from the cabin that is right under a tree that hangs over the water.. That is the place you guys always go to read to each other while cuddled up, have picnics, among other things.. Especially after dark because it's conveniently really dark once it's night fall.. 😏👀

Once you got there (on the proposal day) he helped you out of the car but had you put a blind fold on.

" What in the world? Why are you making me put this on, babe? " you giggled while you asking and putting the blind fold on.

" Just because.. I have a surprise for you mi amor. " Santi said while grinning like a little kid and looking at you with such love and everything. He's so nervous but so excited for you to see what he did.. And ssooo nervous about what your answer will be.

" Ok are you ready to go? " he said while holding your hand ready to guide you. " Yes I am, my love. Even though I'm nervous of what's going on! " you laugh while answering your boyfriend.

It take you guys no time to get to the spot. Santi turns you so your back is to the spot while he takes the blind fold off, but you can't turn around yet. He is behind you, steps to the side while you turn around so he can see your reaction.

" Santiago Garcia!! What the? This is so gorgeous and breathtaking!" You squil with happiness and hug and kiss him because he did such a beautiful job.

Santi had Frankie and your bff Vanessa help him set up the spot the morning of the the big day. They both knew he was gonna propose and were soooo happy for you guys! Both of them said it was about damn time he did.

Vanessa got the beautiful blanket made with yours and Santi's favorite colors and names on it. Frankie had made his famous cheesecake that he knows both of you loveeee. Santi did a lot of the decoration planning.. He got these gorgeous string lights that he knew you'd love; they were these plastic (but looked like glass) roses that changed colors and got the basic string lights to help light the area up too. Got this very very beautiful small table that he got engraved with " will you marry me, Y/N? " and all your favorite colors & flowers. There is a spot right under the words that is carved out so he can put the ring box there.

The food that Santi decided on was a simple but beautiful pasta dish. Frankie would be cooking it and bringing it out to you guys, same with the cheesecake when it was time. Vanessa was on drink duty.

You guys have finished eating and relaxing a bit while talking about stuff. " Now I know why I woke up alone today, you brat. " you said to him in a teasing tone while playfully hitting his arm.

" hey now! I wanted to surprise you with this and didn't want to get caught.. So I got up before you woke up and left to do so. " he said while smiling and rubbing his arm. Even though you barley hit his arm.

The evening goes on some more.. You guys cuddle and star gaze. Then suddenly Santi gets up on his knees, well not really cause his knees are bad.. He kinda scoots over to grab something that has a cloth on it.

" what is this you got here good sir? " you say in a goofy voice while putting down your drink.

" well my fine lady.. This is the main surprise of this evening I planned for us. He says while looking into your eyes with so much love and adoration, and holding your hand. Close your eyes for a second, please and thank you. " he says kinds nervously..

" ok, ready. " you say. Santi moves around a bit so the table is in between you both but where he can still hold your hands. He takes the cloth off and says you can open your eyes.

You are still looking into his beautiful eyes, you don't want to look away yet.. " Y/N, you have been my best friend since the day we met all those years ago. When you said you'd be my girlfriend, I thought I had passed away and went to heaven. Because I was so nervous to ask you, but I knew you were the love of my life.. So I wanted to ask you to. And it had been even more amazing then I ever dreamed of us being together. So I have a question for you my dulce amor. " He points down at the table for you to look at while he asks you the question.

" I- Santi, my love. Yes! A million times yes!! You say while tearing up and an jumping into his lap to kiss and hug him. This table is so gorgeous! " you say while admiring it and running your fingers over it.

Santi puts the gorgeous breathtaking ring on your finger. It is his mother's ring that he had your birthstone added to. Didn't even have to resize it because you and mother are the same ring size. Kinda was meant to be.. 👀

" I- is that mama's ring? " you say while tearing up again, because his mom has become a second mother to you and she instantly had you call her mama when she first met you. " yes it is, she insisted on me giving it to you. " Santi said while also crying because it's so over the moon that you said yes. He has the biggest smile in the world right now.

" I have one condition though.. You say while the hugest grin on your face. You have to grow your hair and beard out, and let the grays run wild. " you say while giggling and covering your face, cause it's silly and your nervous of what he's gonna say. Santi starts laughing like a complete dork. " yes my love, whatever you want. You know I don't care how my hair looks no matter the length. " he says while smiling and leaning in to kiss you.

Fast forward about a year.

Today is the day!! It is beautiful October day. You and Santi decided on having the wedding at the cabin. Because it is where you he proposed and it is by far the favorite spot of your vacation spots.

The dress you chose is so gorgeous. It has these beautiful thin lace sleeves to the elbows, thick enough to keep you warm because it's October after all. It isn't too big and flowy, it's the perfect mixture of both.. Although it's mostly the traditional white, it has yours and Santi's favorite colors throughout the dress. It is absolutely gorgeous. The vale you decided on is down to right under your shoulder blades when you have it flipped back, so it isn't too much of a hassle to move back there once time. It is held up by this beautiful hair clip that has both your birthstones and the October one on it.

You are so so nervous because it's time to walk down the isle. So so glad you decided on really short heels and glad your dad will have ahold of you in case you fall.

Santi is so damn nervous.. But Frankie is keeping him sane and such. He is completely afraid once it's time time to talk and say your vows he's gonna mess up.

The music starts playing for you to come in.

As soon as you both lock eyes, it's like its only the two of you in the room.. All the nerves are gone for both of you. Once your dad is seated and it's time to get married. You guys are absolutely the most clam because it's just you two now.

Neither of you mess up one bit on the speaking. Santi dips you while he is kissing you. Then whispers, " I can't get over this dress. You did such a beautiful job picking it out, mi hermosa novia. But I can't wait to get it off of you later. " while you are blushing away at what he said, and says " you know what, we can always sneak off during the reception for a quickie " you say with this most evilish grin ever, making Santi just about pass out because is so in love with you and will never get over your dirty talk.. And ya know that turned him on too.. 😏 So now he kinds has to hide behind you a bit to hide himself while walking down the isle until you're seated. You don't mind, means more risky cuddling that looks like normal cuddles to others.. Always your favorite.. 😏😈

I’ve thought of a example of celeb couples calling it quits and saying it was because of distance when clearly that’s not the case it’s just easier to say. Vanessa hudgens and Austin butler were together for 9 years and then apparently called it quits because of differences over distance like seriously after 9 years they expect us to believe that distance was the issue. I’m pretty sure they both lived together or at the very least they both live in America anyway and neither of them are anywhere near as busy as Tom and z are all the time and they managed to make it work for 9 years so I honestly don’t see how distance was a issue that led them to breaking up after 9 years together. I think couples just think if they say that tabloids will leave them alone and not pry to much into the real reason. But again even if it was issues with distance if they were really committed to each other they would have sorted it out. But like I said their schedules would have never have been as crazy and full as Tom and zs and they live in the same country and I’m pretty sure together so.

Good gravy! Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens were together for 9 YEARS?? Geez... I didn't know it had been that long! 😳

Anyway, in answer to your two asks lol.... I honestly don't think we can really compare couples to each other, because you're talking about 4 different people, and people can even be totally different in different relationships. So we don't know what everyone's dynamic is at the end of the day. 🤷

With that said, I don't follow Austin all that closely, so I don't know much about him tbh, but SUPPOSEDLY from what I've heard, he and Vanessa broke up because supposedly he cheated on her with his "Elvis" co-star. 👀👀 And then, to add on to that, supposedly he cheated on the co-star with Lily Depp! 🤦‍♀️

So ummm...yeaaaaa, I don't think it was JUST "distance" that broke Austin and Vanessa up if THAT is the case. 🥴

Like I said the other day, a lot of times, celebrities will claim that it was "distance" or "work" that tore them apart, but usually that's just a cover up for what really broke them up. Maybe they want to keep that private. Who wants to talk about a breakup to the public? I know I wouldn't. 🥴 Especially if it was painful. Plus, he and Vanessa could have been having some difficulties in their relationship to begin with later on down the line that we don't even know about. 🤷 But wow... 9 years is a LONG time! Kudos to them for trying to make things work for that long. Now his flings with Lily Depp and Kaia Gerber make a bit more sense. Probably rebounding. He and Kaia seem to be doing okay though, so I guess we'll see what happens. 🥴

mermaid remake review

watched the new little mermaid yesterday. I wasn't very impressed.

Don't get me wrong, the art was stunning, and I was very very delighted to see the smooth, fluid mermaid art in live action style that us classic mermaid freaks get the craving for. Even the way they did things like water, and lighting was gorgeous.

but. the movie overall felt really mid. it was hard to get excited for it, because everything felt and looked so different; I didn't really recognize the story or the setting or any of the characters. The way they behaved and the things they did were an awkward mash up of call backs and nuances that didn't fit at all, and it gave the whole story a weird disjointed vibe. Don't even get me started on the blocking. If there was a distinctly physical embodiment of the stop-and-start rhythm it would be the blocking, which had little fluidity---but I digress.

The characters were very very different from the classics I hold near and dear. I think my main complaint is the lack of emotion they seem to express. (I have my own personal problems with the quality of the acting on that front, particularly from Triton). Pretty much every interaction is measured. Excitement, anger, fear: it's all toned down. The scenes that are supposed to be these big turning points or dramatic climaxes lose all their efficacy because the characters fail to deliver this rich emotional build-up: something that's also derailed by the weird revisions to the script. On Ariel's part, especially when she finally gets to land, seems kind of dumb (haha no pun intended). But seriously, it seems like she loses half of her intelligence just because she can't speak. She doesn't really seem aware of herself or her surroundings, can't be bothered to even nod or shake her head when someone addresses her?? She doesn't even seem like herself. There are no elaborate hand gestures, no delighted grins or awestruck laughs. my girl she's just 🧍‍♀️ there. Honestly I think Eric did the best job of actually coming across as a person with real emotions and feelings, but I was hoping they'd all do that...? so not a high bar to jump 🤦‍♀️

Also, the changes they made to the storyline didn't seem to stick very well. I can appreciate the "adaptation" aspect but they really did not pull it off. There was no seamless transition between original content and new twists. I felt like I was bouncing back and forth between two entirely different stories. while I'm on the whole disrupted storyline thing, THEY REALLY DID ERIC DIRTY AT THE END THERE. In the original, the flow from scene to scene is so flawless there's no question about continuity, or changes in setting; it's all very easy to follow. But in the new movie... you're kind of left with whiplash. the transitions are stiff and stilted, and it takes your brain a second to catch up to "oh, it's this scene now, okay" which weakens the viewing experience a lot.

I could also talk about the costuming. It looked... so sad for a disney movie. maybe they put all their money into the cgi? I did myself the disservice of getting excited for the costuming when I really should have set proper expectations after the whole Beauty and the Beast fiasco. There was little vibrant color in the costumes, and way less attention to detail than I thought they'd afford. Like the costume with the most color was Vanessa's??? and that was such a random thing? Aside from her, everything else is kind of meh (except my man grimsby out here popping the fit off fr slay my king 👑) The costumes were stylish, of course, I'll give them that. But they looked like something you'd scrounge up for a school musical and not a movie of this high societal regard and budget.

On top of that, the music was a little...??? I think Halle has a wonderful voice, and an impressive set of pipes. Wow, can that girl sing. But aside from her voice being pretty and sounding remarkably similar to the original, the music was kind of all over the place. A few lines gave you chills, right, the lilt of their tone or they hit that note perfectly, BUT other than that I was reminded of the lion king remake sound track, which tore up the underlying cadence and feeling and mood goal of the originals to the point that the new music didn't accomplish its role in the progression of the story much at all. Like the singers were just showing off and not working to make the music actually fit into the character's journey: something that is literally core to a disney character?? Hello??? And I'm sorry, I know they tried really hard (a little too hard) to include elements of the old music and references and everything else, but with the new actors/voices it just felt so off and forced. It didn't feel like they had much respect for why the original did it this or that way and were just cramming stuff in for the

of it all, you know? Also there were details they chose to include for no reason, things that served no purpose overall, accomplished nothing, and weren't entertaining in any way. Stuff that you'd think would be important given how much emphasis they put on it but,,, no, no they're just making a big deal about it for no reason?? On top of that when the actors try to bring in their own personal touch, it's jarring. Takes you in a whole different direction, really chops up the momentum of the scene. And don't even get me started on the things they chose to CUT. I will be mad about the frogs forever. WHO MADE THAT DECISION I JUST WANT TO TALK. Some of the stuff looks like they took it out just because it'd be too hard to animate or something, which is really pathetic actually because you spent all that time making the mermaids absolutely flawless but then couldn't be bothered to not take away the ensemble that made this or that number the most magical? okay ig

So the music was pretty mid in my opinion. Yk at first you get a little hyped because you're all like "Oh! I wonder how they're going to do this part!" or "Oh! this is pretty good!" but then it gets annoyingly repetitive or goes off on itself with no kriffing right and you're just sitting there waiting for it to be over because hhhhhh yeah it's not that exciting anymore.

Now, there are things about the movie I really did like. of course, the way they generated the movements underwater was a pure delight. the way the mers moved their tails, and the way they maneuvered around obstacles and such had me really captivated. I wish we could have seen more of that. I also did enjoy the new tidbits of world-building, leaning more towards the classical relationship between men and the seapowers, since that really floats my boat. And this movie made me actually believe in Ariel and Eric's love story. The small offhand pieces of dialogue and the chemistry between the actors and the *slightly* eldritch mysticism managed to sell it. Where in the original I struggled to understand the attraction, the new movie puts more emphasis on the connection they have and the things they have in common. I really appreciated that. I also thought it was great and hilarious what they did with ursula and triton. awesome way to reference the original concepts and 🤌 explains so much about their relationship throughout the story.

But in spite of all the fun elements, the movie overall was a disappointment. I really hoped they would build on top of the original story instead of just cobbling new stuff around it. The movie was inconsistent, awkward, disjointed, stiff and stilted all around. The acting had so much room for improvement, and the cut and paste job they did on the storyline was somewhere on the scale of weirdly unnecessary to hurtful. There were so many details or pieces of dialogue that were random, meaningless, and distracting. Some parts of the movie were really stunningly good---excellent execution with the perfect level of dramatics---and others were really lame. just flopped. sad wet lettuce scene. the constant back and forth had me exhausted by the end. I was really hoping this movie would go the way of Aladdin and enrich the original story because the original little mermaid was so good and so vibrant and so fun and the only thing it was missing was live action mermaids guys come on. didn't turn out that way.

I wouldn't recommend spending the money to watch this in theaters. just wait until it's available to stream or something, and have a watch party with your friends. watching it with a fun group of people might make the experience more enjoyable if you're all down to make fun of the stupid parts together and groan when someone tries to use a joke from the original and really does not pull it off. To be completely honest, I think fanfiction authors could have made the changes to the story that the remake made and told it ten times better. I'm just miffed the movie as a whole was so choppy and uncomposed because I was excited that finally someone with enough money is going to be doing live action mermaids! It's going to look so so good!! and it did look good. it looked great! the art for the most part was peak, and I loved it truly. but everything else about the film kept throwing me off and I found it so hard to really get into it or be excited for very long. because there were inspiring moments, yes, but not long afterwards, a dumb cringey (not affectionate) sad excuse of an imitation would swim by and I'd just sigh dejectedly like aw man.

also the ending was a drag. I was like. hmm, is it over yet? and no, it was not over yet. It just kept going. rip me. seriously I'm better off reading (or better yet writing my own) fanfiction.

Happy astromonday!!

For the last in the Mars asks, I have a story about the earliest picture from Mars' surface. This was taken in July 1965 by Mariner 4.

Mariner 4 was an orbiter, it didn't land on Mars, but in 1965 it sent back the first digital images from Mars. Sent over 8 hours to the NASA computers, it comprised of 240,000 numbers, bits of binary code, to make up the 40,000 patches of colour on its surface.

When the code was received back on Earth, the picture was likely to take a while to develop. But the scientists were too impatient to wait. So they printed all the numbers onto long, narrow strips of paper, stuck them to a wall in order, and coloured in each number using a paint-by-numbers method. This eventually created a piece of art you can see with today's ask, a replica of a picture taken from the surface of Mars!!

It really struck me again the love people have had for space and for Mars throughout history. This was 40,000 numbers that were coloured by hand, and how beautiful is the image!!

Things I've loved creating under the cut bc I got sentimental and it turned kind of long lol

In uni we had to make a self portrait short film talking about ourselves. I, of course, waited for the absolute last minute to film mine because I have no understanding of time management (and I was also editing a tv pilot that literally took all of the time me and my friends had back then bc that thing was worth about half of our grade) so I spent an entire weekend rolling w a suitcase through all of my favorite parts of Madrid w the help of one of my cousins and a friend, changing at various bathrooms so I could have different outfits (brought in said suitcase) so it didn't look like I filmed it all in two days, I took inspiration on one of my favorite poems (the artist creed of Aquiles Nazoa) for the monologue and in the video of Vanessa Hudgens in Lisbon for find your California for the imagery. It works both as a self portrait and a love letter to the city and the people that took that weekend to help me (either by filming me or helping with the suitcase or to make sure random passerbys didn't fuck up a take). It was Eurovision weekend and we ended filming by getting drunk at the flat of my friend watching the last few performances.

A sentimental thing but I cajoled about 15 cousins, a very shy brother, two German exchange sisters and an uncle with a 4yo into participating in a mother's day video. Decided literally two days before mother's day, i have family living currently in six countries. And absolutely no one knows how to follow instructions. But it did succeed in making all of the aunts (and my mother) happy. My grandma didn't remember the video when i asked her about it (but apparently when somebody else did when she was a little more lucid she was pretty sure it had to be the idea of one of my eldest cousins🤣) but the wife of my grandpa (who i never called my grandmother but I was closer to than my grandma) did cry bc I made a point to name her in my part of the video. I spent an entire night editing three versions (one for my dad's side of the family, one for my mother's and one in particular for my mom that was my brother, our German sisters and me).

Glitteraks and the drag race Spain reference posts. I am actually kind of shy online lol so the glitterasks were my attempt at both keeping the Sunday horrors at bay for me and the few-ish people I talked to here when i stopped being deadly afraid of talking to people and make some new friends. Mostly I am proud of being able to keep it up for a year. It was a total of about... 60 questions? If I'm not mistaken? And at it's busiest I think the list got to be 85 people. The reference posts are included there because they were very self indulgent, i can admit to that, but new episodes come on Sundays too so I spent a few Sundays nursing migraines of my own making for spending entire days staring at screens between glitteraks, episode watching and reference post making, because my mental deadline for said posts was Monday evening and I do have a job 🤣 despite what the chronically online behavior might suggest

5. Do you see your system members as individual people, parts of a whole, or something else? Do other members see things differently?

Can I answer it depends on the day? 😂😂 overall i objectively know that we are separated parts of one whole, and that is super important in terms of things like system responsibility and understanding things that may seem normal to one member can be selfish for the whole gang. That being said, it’s still true that they’re as different as living with roomies, (hence why we tend to prefer headmates) and it definitely doesn’t feel like we’re parts of a whole a lot of the time. I’ll have to ask around and to see what everyone else thinks, but that’s my opinion from what I understand.

35. What would your perfect life or dream job look like? How does this differ between members?

Kalo I think would love to be a streamer. We tried to do it for a while and he liked it a lot but it was hard on him to have to act more female to be accepted, and we couldn’t keep up with it with school and everything else unfortunately :/

Jay wants to be an author last time we chatted, but from what I know he’s been dormant since February and I don’t know if that’s changed at all

I (Cloud) wanted to be an Emergency Room Doctor, but due to chronic illness had to change pursuits and now we are going for either Marriage and family counseling or Speech Pathology!

Vanessa I think ultimately would be a stay at home mom, although she loves gardening a lot I’m not sure if she would actually like to pursue a career in that direction, especially given what I’ve heard about people that have done like flower arranging work and how awful people can be about it 🤦‍♀️ (also wedding planning and the person doing our flowers has been awful so maybe I’m just projecting the bad taste in my mouth about it)
