NEWS FLASH ⚡️
Six-year follow-up of the treatment of patients with dissociative disorders study
In the attached study, 12.8% of patients reached final fusion, and 12.8% of patients were considered resolved with functional multiplicity.
61.7% did not complete therapy.
A portion of these patients are dead or missing. A moment of silence for those lost. Never forget the suicide rates in our community.
This article is from 2017, and the ISSTD guidelines are from 2011. Both say that functional multiplicity is a valid treatment option.
The authors of the 3 phase treatment talk about how it's okay to stop at functional multiplicity.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Treatment goals are personal, some of you need to mind your own goddamn business

CDS UK Treatment
A survey of practices and recommended treatment interventions among expert therapists treating patients with dissociative identity disorder and dissociative disorder not otherwise specified.
There exists no published, empirical data demonstrating that direct intervention with self states worsens DID, although there is clinical literature that describes negative outcomes of inappropriate interventions with self states (Kluft, 1989a).
Whether or not unification takes place or the extent to which it endures, most severely dissociative patients, even those in the lowest functioning group, can improve during specialized focuses on dissociation.

Shout out to mentally ill people who dropped out of school
- shout out to the kids who were “so bright” and ‘heading somewhere” and had to drop out because school was too much to handle along with mental illness
- shout out to the kids who struggled to get where they got before they dropped out
- shout out to the kids who tried and tried and tried and still couldn’t finish
you aren’t unintelligent because you dropped out of school, you aren’t a delinquent or a bad person because you dropped out of school, just because you did what you had to doesn’t make you a bad person

Hey. Your brain needs to de-frag. Literally it needs you to sit there and space out.
If you want your memory or executive function to improve, stare out a window at the skyline or sidewalk or trees or birds on the electrical wires for like 20+ minutes per day. (With no other stimulation like a podcast or TV if you can manage but hey baby steps innit). If you're fortunate enough to have safe outside with any bits of nature, go stare closely at a 1 meter square of grass and trip out on the bugs and shapes of grasses and stuff.
Literally this will make you smarter. Our brains HAVE TO HAVE this zone out time to do important stuff behind the scenes. This does not happen during sleep, it's something else.
That weird pressurized feeling you get sometimes might be your brain on no defrag.
Give your brain a Daily Dose Of De-Frag.

Honest to goodness I swore I read that as “most attractive alters” and I was hella confused for a bit there
I'd like to know whose great idea it was to pick polar opposites for our 2 most active alters
Like we've got a christian guy right next to a video game serial killer
They do NOT communicate well
(There are others, thank god)

“There are no trigger warnings in real life”
“The real world is cruel, get over it.”
My boyfriend is triggered by Christmas and Christmas music. We were in a restaurant, and Christmas music was playing, and he started panicking so he went outside for a cigarette. The manager of the restaurant overheard him saying he had to get out, and changed the music over for the rest of the time we were there. There are safe spaces in the real world. People are nicer than you think. And bullshit people who try to tell you to get over your triggers, ain’t shit.

We need to have places like bars where instead of only 18+ year olds allowed in it’s ONLY people who had fucked up childhoods so we can joke about it without running into a surprise normal who gets all sad and weird

I miss when I would get Tumblr asks that actually said things and weren't just digital panhandling scams.

sorry to have to tell you this but if a stranger comes to your inbox or slides in your DMs asking you for your money with some sob story, no matter how tragic and convincing the story is, they are a scammer — especially if the story is obviously copied and pasted, formatted in the exact same way as the other 100 bots in your inbox

Common things in DID that no one likes to talk about
- switches that feel like you’re turning into someone else rather than them taking control (non-possessive switching)
- being unable to recognize amnesia until something requires you to remember something you forgot
- staying in the front for weeks at a time
- being unable to communicate with alters internally (this is so common why does everyone act like this is weird?)
- feeling like you don’t have any problems because you feel disconnected from them
- constant denial
- rapid identity, label, and appearance changes
- comorbidities, particularly personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and the schizophrenia spectrum
- autism (there is science pointing towards autistic people being more susceptible to trauma)
- disliking your system
- wanting final fusion

I know that being a system means you're rather different from other parts inside, but that doesn't mean you can't share the same traits or habits:
Some systems don't have distinctive handwritings that can be distinguished from one to another
Some systems don't have a jarring difference when it comes to using clothes or style of fashion
Some systems don't have a separate accent from one another, they all speak the same, and use similar words
Some systems don't have varying amounts of skills or proficiency, they all have it evenly the same throughout, not lesser nor better than others
Some systems don't have their specific disorder affecting just one alter, it affects everyone collectively too
Some systems don't have opposing opinions or ideas from each other, they all share similar life views and perception
Systems being different is true to an extent, but since multiple alters share one brain, it's common to find overlapping qualities among them as well.
What other kinds of traits do you all similarly have, or could be indistinguishable among systems? Join in and share them here!
