Thought I'd use today as an opportunity to talk about my WIP for camp. It starts in two days and I'll dedicate my tumblr to this WIP during April (except for my queue)!

Daughters of the Sea ❧ Mermaid Pirates WIP

Set in a world inspired by ours, "The Sea Beast", turtles being islands, and PotC, this story takes on a journey where we follow a crew of mermaids searching for a sanctuary away from the persecution of humans.

These creatures have hunted mermaids for years to capture and sell for parts, believing them to hold magical properties that will cure any illness. The one illness they have found no cure for is ageing—until now.

Believing the mermaids are hiding the fountain of youth, a powerful royal enlists the help of disposable pirates to hunt these mermaids down and find the fountain.

Chased by ruthless pirates, the mermaids must navigate forgotten worlds where beasts slumber in search of sanctuary.

Cast ❧ WIP Intro

From top left to right: Mora, Vaya, Akya, Nim

Mora is the Captain of the human pirate crew that stalks the mermaids. Her family has survived on hunting mermaids for generations. She has a run-in with this crew before even taking on the mission to hunt them down.

Vaya is the Captain of the mermaid crew. She's not one for battle herself, but her kindness and way to inspire made her Captain. She is also the Beloved of Nim.

Akya is navigator and chef on the mermaid crew. While the mermaids do not use the same language as humans, they could be seen as the Quartermaster.

Nim becomes Captain of the mermaid crew after their run-in with Mora's crew. She is the strongest of them and welds two 2-handed swords into fights.
