What are some of your favorite duologies? 🌾 I absolutely adore VENGEANCE ROAD and RETRIBUTION RAILS by @heyerin. These YA historical westerns are so unique and captivating, and I absolutely love the characters. They can be read as standalones, but RETRIBUTION RAILS features characters from the first book, set about 10 years later. Plus, they're both fantastic, so just read both. . . #FearYourNovel - Duologies #AllTheBooksMay20 - Flowers on the Cover . . #vengeanceroad #retributionrails #erinbowman #yabooks #yabookstagram #bookrec #bookrecs #bookrecommendation #booksilove #bookflatlay #bookishflatlay #bookishfeatures #bibliofeature https://www.instagram.com/p/CAlEF4ug21a/?igshid=1e8ybrc451mkq

People are always a little surprised to find out that I love a good Western. Especially those that feature gunslinging girls and outlaws like the Vengeance Road duology by Erin Bowman. If you want fast paced adventure, girls who rescue themselves, stories of redemption, all set against the stunning mesas and mountains of the American Southwest, these are the books for you! #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookblogger #erinbowman #vengeanceroad #retributionrails #westerns #westernbooks #booksandcoffee #bookishlife https://www.instagram.com/p/CAkqVWgpFnm/?igshid=1e3vxqmx7rsmk

How about a fun #cozy Sunday shot for today! ☕️📖 I had to grab my favorite #pumpkinspice coffee from @dunkindonuts today (iced coffee because it’s 95 degrees out today 🙄) because I’m a tad obsessed with #pumpkinspiceeverything. I love how people either love it or hate it. How do you feel about pumpkin spice? Are you a fan? Can’t stand it? Or somewhere in between? 🙃 . I’m so excited to start reading Retribution Rails soon!! I loved Vengeance Road so much. It was my first YA Western, and now I’m so excited to see where Retribution Rails will take us. 🖤📖 . 📖 #LILBookishTags - #cozysunday ________________________________________________________ #vengeanceroad #retributionrails #erinbowman #bookmail #bookish #vscobooks #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookblogger #ireadya #yalit #yalit #yawestern #booknerd

Vengeance Road

Vengeance Road by Christine Feehan
Publication Date: Publisher: Genre: Series: Torpedo Ink Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
Goodreads: Breezy Simmons was born into a ruthless motorcycle club—and now that she’s out, she’s never going to be that girl again. But when her past catches up with her, Breezy must go to Sea Haven to seek out the man who almost destroyed her. The man who chose his club over her and left her feeling used and alone. As vice president of Torpedo Ink, Steele is ride or die for the brothers he lived through hell with. He never thought he’d find something as pure as his feelings for Breezy, or that keeping her safe would mean driving her away with cruel words that turned her love for him to ash. Now, Steele won’t let her walk away twice. He’ll do whatever it takes to make Breezy his woman again—especially when he learns the real reason, she came to him for help, and that the stakes are higher than he ever could have imagined…
________________________________________________________________
This is a series I read and recommend with caution. MC romance series tend to be darker and can be harder to understand and get through. Vengeance Road pushes limits and is one you need to tread lightly with, with an open mind.
Both Steele and Breezy have tragic histories and survived trauma anything beyond your wildest dreams. Steele is the VP of Torpedo Ink, and one of eighteen who survived from his Russian ‘school’ that set out to make him and every member of Torpedo Ink into assassins.  Breezy Simmons grew up in the MC where she was treated as nothing more than a mere object, used only to benefit the club.
This is a second-chance story for both Breezy and Steele. Three years prior, Steele sent Breezy away, both unaware of the secrets the other kept. Fast-forward to current times, Breezy has come to Steele, desperate for this assistance in finding her son, their son.
While Torpedo Ink rallies to find young Zane, Breezy and Steele struggle to come to terms with happened three years prior and this is where I begin to struggle. Steele, and other members of Torpedo Ink, expect and demand that their women follow their demands. I give all the heroines credit, they do attempt to stand up to their ‘old man’, but eventually, cave to their demands. That’s not to say these women are weak, in their own ways, in Breezy’s case it was the time spent away from Steele that makes her capable of putting up with his demands, while also balancing dealing with his PTSD. In the end, they do get their happily ever after, but it’s hard to accept this ending knowing what I do about Breezy’s protests and concerns.
I will continue to read this series, for the mere fact I’m interested to see what happens with other members of Torpedo Ink, but I won’t be in a rush to go the bookstore when new ones are released.

Last night I decided to do a fun little video on my story. I started off by reading my boyfriend my December TBR and had him choose one book from that list. Mind you, He doesn’t know anything about any of these books (with the exception of Harry Potter) except for the title. Well low and behold he chose The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. With that said, being the indecisive person that I am, I wasn’t sure if that’s what I wanted to read so naturallIy I did a poll asking you guys to choose between HP 4 and The Nigh Circus. As of right now, Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire is a clear win. 🎄🎄🎄 All that aside, I made a decision. My next read will be... HEIR OF FIRE by Sarah J. Maas 😂😂😂. 🎄🎄🎄 P.S. I am obsessed with the cover for Vengeance Road by @heyerin . It has been on my TBR since forever. But I really want to read I because well, it’s a western. DUH! 🎄🎄🎄 QOTD: What book are you reading next? 🎄🎄🎄 #vengeanceroad #western #christmas #christmastree #green #winter #winterreading #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booklover #booknerd #bookworm #bookish #hardcover #yabooks #holidayreads #bookblog #bookblogger #seasonal #ornaments (at Denver, Colorado)

Would you rather travel back in time or forward to the future??? 🖤 As much as I’m curious about the future, and what it holds, there’s something appealing about already knowing what has happened. I mean, I can take money and knowledge back and live like a Queen. Maybe even BE a Queen. Or get burned at the stake. Because, lets be real. History is not kind to sassy women. Definite downside to history there. Also, the chances of achieving immortality significantly lessen the further back we go. Tempting... I’m going to have to contemplate this one for a bit! 🖤 I’ve had these gorgeous books on my shelf for at least a year! A YEAR!!! And they sounds SO GOOD!!! I’m thinking it’s time they moved up the #TBR pile. So many books, so little time. Sigh. Today is perfect for reading though. Windy, cloudy, but still hot and miserable. Oh, and filled with dust storm warnings. Ahhhhh, #desertlife friends. Seems even the weather wants me to read these books 😂 Maybe it will make the heat and extreme weather feel more glamorous. Like I’m in the story. One can hope! 🖤 📚 🖤 📚 🖤 #bookstagram #ilovebooks #booklove #booklife #igbooks #bookblog #yalit #yalovin #ireadya #yabooks #bookography #bookcommunity #booktribe #bookaddict #bookaddiction #bookobsessed #bookobsession #jenabrownwrites #bookaholic #bookstagrammer #igreads #coverlove #summerreads #yareads #vengeanceroad #retributionrails #ipreview @preview.app

Vengeance Road is gritty, raw, and beautiful. The story starts the moment Kate finds her father hanged with a rose carved into his forehead and her house burned to the ground. Immediately Kate recognizes the Rose Riders notorious rose symbol and decided she will spend the rest of her life hunting down and kill each and every gang member. But her father always told her that if anything were to happen to him she must flee to Abe in Wickenburg. So, Kate disguises herself as a boy and rides to Wickenburg before journeying down her path of Vengeance. - So Vengeance Road is actually a historical fiction, once again, set in the 1840’s when the gold rush was is full swing. But our setting stays within the Arizona region. I thought this to be a refreshing take on the era. And I absolutely loved this story. Now like I said before about westerns, there are a lot of in between moments of travel and being utterly human, but Vengeance Road is chalk full of action, seriously around every corner something is happening. And honestly nothing was predictable or as it seemed. - But my favorite parts of this book were Kate’s grief and raw anger when it came to the death of her father and loss of her home because it was so human and real and I could empathize. - I also loved the characters we meet and the unlikely alliances. As you may know, American history is laden with hostility among Native Americans and those who came in and stole land, and this book actually addresses those issues and biases. It was a breath of fresh air to see characters begin to change and understand the harm within their actions, as well as the overall character growth that takes place. - Overall this was a 4/5 🌟 for me #stephanieleannebookishreview . . . . #book #bookreview #vengeanceroad #discussion #goldrush #erinbowman #western #yalit #ireadya #yawesterns #ireviewbooks #ireadbooks #bookhoarder #bookaholic #bookstagrammer #bookcommunity #booklife #bookdragon

Retribution Rails is the companion novel to Vengeance Road, set 10 years after the events of VR, and it’s just as much fun! It’s a solid, fast paced, gun slinging horse riding railroad chasing read! While you don’t need to have read #VengeanceRoad to enjoy Retribution Rails, I do highly recommend reading VR first! (I’m biased. I loved VR.)⠀ .⠀ .⠀ This time, we follow Reece Murphy and Charlotte Vaughn. Reece is forcibly dragged into an infamous gang. Just a kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, he isn’t a bad guy. Charlotte wants to be a journalist who tells the truth – because the entire truth is important to her - and is seeking freedom from her conniving uncle. Their paths cross and our story is off! ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Reece and Charlotte quickly cross pass with our favorites from Vengeance Road and I will admit, I squealed. A lot. ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ If you’re thinking, “But I don’t like westerns…” trust me when I say you want to give these books a chance! I’m not a ~western~ fan either but here I am, loving these western books! They’re written so well and with a lot of historical accuracy!⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Full review of #RetributionRails is now on the blog, link in bio!⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #ErinBowman #bookstagram
