over the past few years ive been trying to distance myself more from celebrities and cast members of my fave shows, but i have to admit that i genuinely love evan williams.

he is constantly outspoken about so many important issues, whether it's social issues, racism/discrimination, and now even genocide.

it's such a stark contrast to how the versailles family is.

whilst people were defending alex for all his shit about black lives matter and speaking up about anti-blackness/racism, evan was there already talking about it.

whilst the versailles family page were sharing zionist propaganda, evan was there talking about palestine.

time and time again, he has shown how important it is to use your platform to raise awareness of so many issues, and boy, he is not afraid to use it!

it is a massive shame the fandom is the way that it is because there are so many leaves you can take from evan's book.

it's so refreshing to see that there is at least one cast member from the show genuinely cares.

The military entry of the heir to the kingdom of Scots, the Duke of Rothsey, at Versailles

Duke Oliver de Rothsey chose the Empire of Francesim to complete his military education. It was with honour that he was personally received by HIM Emperor at Versailles, accompanied by HIH Imperial Prince Louis. The military ceremony was framed by the Cent-Gardes and it was not by chance!

Firstly, because the Cent-Gardes Squadron is His Majesty's elite cavalry corps and the Duke of Rothsey specialises in military cavalry. On the other hand, the Cent-Gardes have their origins in the Scottish Guard of the Kings of Francesim. Since the 15th century, the kings of Francesim had this elite military corps of Scottish origin as their personal guard, a tradition that lasted until the French Revolution and the Restoration. Emperor Napoléon IV, on his enthronement, re-established the Cent-Gardes as his personal protectors.

Made up exclusively of experienced, tall horsemen, the Cent-gardes squadron, heir to the Scottish Guard, escorted the Emperor on horseback during his public appearances, and today guards him and his family in the imperial palaces and during their travels. Their tall stature and brilliant blue and red uniforms give them great prestige.

In the marble courtyard of Versailles, the heir Oliver of the Scots meets the Emperor Napoléon IV. His Royal Highness and His Imperial Highness are both dressed in the prestigious cuirassier armour of the Cent-gardes. The Emperor is dressed as a general of the Cent-gardes.

The Duke of Rothsey is expected to stay in Francesim for several months for his military and scientific training, where he will accompany the Children of Francesim to the Polytechnic School as a prestigious foreign student. His presence will be an opportunity for the French imperial family and the Scottish royal family to consider several projects, agreements and political alliances.

Hate to be a basic bitch but it's definitely this, like it wasn't even my most-played song this year or anything but it's so well made and that scene makes me So Emotional (RWBY9 soundtrack is close behind tho, esp Chatterbox and Trapdoor)

3 - Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? I don't remember if I started listening to her this year or if it was like late December of last year, but I was really into Carly Rae Jepsen earlier this year so I'd have to say her

8 - Game of the Year Honestly, even though I haven't played it, I think my game of the year might be Mario Wonder. I watched a playthrough and it's so polished and new and cute. Like Tears of the Kingdom was good, but idk it kinda didn't have the novelty Breath of the Wild did that made it feel extra special.

Didn't play Baldur's Gate but I knew it would win TGA GotY, people were going mad about that game

14 - Favorite book you read this year I know it's not a single book, but definitely the Arc of a Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman. It's a wonderfully different take on AI "ruling" humanity in the distant future, and I've definitely had a lot of thoughts about the whole thing since I read it.

Least favorite is definitely Tampa by Alissa Nutting, I'm only like a single chapter in but the whole thing makes me so uncomfortable. I gotta see what the whole thing is like tho

permission to bitch and moan about a random post by some self proclaimed historian on the site famous for its shitty and biased discussions of history?

prefacing by saying that i think this is actually a really interesting discussion to have and that i've seen and read actual historians talk about this topic with the nuance it deserves.

but i cannot help but perceive this type of posts in bad faith as the use of words like "glorifying" is completely lost:

also this kind of post is obv made to stir and attack and doesn't want an honest discussion about women in historical contexts so like. no point at all except being a "white rich women bad" moment which i can understand like this is a silly website. but it grinds my gears.

i'm taking the example of marie antoniette but obv this can be broadened to most major historical figures. discussion of her context and her personality and individuality and how it played a part in the first downfall of monarchy it's not excusing or glorifying her actions. ultimately we have a Lot more personal informations about and by "rich white women" than any other woman who lived in historical contexts because they were the ones who knew how to write. it's not some stereotype perpetuated by contemporary scholars to write and discuss about only rich nobles because they like it lol. and also if you actually studied history in any higher than high school level you would see the efforts that have been made to recover the voices and testimony of the lower classes and other marginalized individuals.

i dont understand the point of making this type of harsh complaints that not only suck out all the "fun" of studying history by realizing how and why all people during all eras were individuals with feelings like ours, but also that are just plain embarassing. you get all your history sources on tiktok that you think this treatment is given only to pretty white rich women? lol
