-Maybe his sister left it there when he last visited?? one of his members trying a new style?? he literally does not know and he’s panicking.

-it’s not naivety it’s trust, he genuinely believes your worries are valid and it’s sweet but also upsetting to watch him tear up and panic

-you finally just admit you left it there as a joke, and he gives you the silent treatment for a solid ten minutes

I finally made use of last months vip pirate pack :> plus i had a bunch of plant pieces (and i ordered some coral off bricklink a while back just to meet minimum order price lol), so i decided to go for an overgrown shipwreck!

The hammerhead is from a mini submarine set my brother got for me a few years back, the translucent coral is from a spongebob set lol, map from indiana jones and the boulder/washbasin/crate are from a castle set. Pretty much everything else is from the pirate pack (besides like plates and studs etc).

I might do little weekly builds cos i miss playing w lego (no one look at me being 21, cringe culture is dead and i didnt spend 5 hours organising all my childhood lego only to not use it xD)

oo so when it came to ford and tate, i had a general idea pretty strong from the get go, so there wasnt much exploration, and i wrote general notes i wanted to include in their designs and then kinda just went for it. in my notes and story plotting they were simply referred to as the waiter and the PI.

these are basically the first iterations for them, tho tate took me a while to figure out. tate was also skinnier but then i was like no i need to design with my Heart so i made him more stout instead just a simple tall guy with a dadbod body type. i just always ended up liking how ford turned out so he didnt have many changes (notably it ends up being just his hairstyle).

once i got the gist of the characters down i went back and started looking up clothes and pulling ref images to really hone in on their sense of style and fashion, since that was something for this comic i really wanted to portray. then i went back and drew a bunch of drawings of them in different outfits and tried to figure things out. like tate evolved from trenchcoat and jumpsuits to more simple things like tshirts and jackets.

i made the control meme. and then. i put them on the back burner as i did other things for months. and when the new year hit, i ran to start drawing them again to start the comic on a whim, and did the simple, draw what you remember and see whats the most important character traits. i think i wouldve liked to have more time to really iron more things out before i jumped into the comic but i feared being stuck in planning hell and never being able to Start.

kennedy is a fun one bc i designed him to be a matching cowboy oc pair with raynersjournal and an overall group of four. simply the concept idea for kennedy was red badboy cowboy twink. another kind of design i did in one based on vibes and probably google images of cowboys for clothes insp. i am a little foggy on my thought process for designing ken but that was pretty much it. one and done type guy. i think i was feeling particularly inspired by funky eyebrows and giant sharp nose shapes.

i think kennedy has been pretty consistent in characterization, but i think i tend to draw kennedy less boxy now, and ive smoothed him out because ive shaped him more into this devious snake oil kind of guy that looks sweet, instead of this whirlwind fireball. for a second, i stopped drawing kennedy with his square jawline, but ive been trying to make sure i remember to draw it bc i think its a good trait of his that makes for nice contrast in his feminine design.

bayley is Also interesting bc he had several pre-designs which is different for me. the concept of bayley being a fucked up scientist to be the antagonist for cc's story was first inspired by one of my goretober prompts, where a unknown scientist was attempting to vivisect hancock. his design was very minimal and more of an after thought.

after that came me trying to come up with a story and a scientist for cc to Have his third arm from. then i tried to doodle some scientist design with that inspiration from mr. goretober and came up with this guy.

but i didnt like him! i didnt think it was the right type of dynamic Look and i wasnt in love with the design so i tried again when i went to actually make ccs into comic. which is where we get this guy who looks More like bayley, but without the sideburns.

his sideburns grow as time goes on, longer and longer, until i start drawing them Bushy and big and the rest is history, i think i was inspired actually by how ray drew them one time and i just took it and ran. another bayley off shoot is evil bayley who channels mr goretober in his rancid vibes, while looking like regular bayley, bc i love au clones.

203 apparently! which is like, a lot but also doesn't feel like that many for how long I've been posting now

1,060,055, and I'm still SUPER proud of hitting a million words. don't think I'm ever gonna write as much again as I did in 2022 (how did I write almost 400k in a year????) but apparently I'm over 100k for this year so. happy with that even though I haven't written nearly as much as I'd like due to like, general life stuff

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending

oughfkdjg this is tough. I do think if only we could have been brave on time was pretty angsty, I don't usually write fics that toy so much with major character death.

there's a few others but the first one that jumped out at me while scrolling through my fics was i'm trying to reach you (before all the ghosts do). minor character/oc death this time but like. the whole fic was very much born out of the image of its angsty ending, so.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

hm I mean I do write a lot of angstless fluff!! so like, any of those. but I'm gonna go with litany for a reunion, because so much of it is angsty that I think the ending seems happier because of it.

Do you get hate on fics?

not yet! but this fandom is pretty chill so.

Do you write crossovers?

not in the sense of like, bringing characters from one fandom into another. if I had the stamina/confidence to do proper longfics I'd absolutely do more aus, some of which are inspired by other media (if you guys could see the fairytale aus that live in my head.), and I /do/ have a daemon au.

the only crossover I've really done is Lifeboat, which is like. still a concept I enjoy. ark/its lore is something so close to my heart, so it was a lot of fun to fuse it with dr who. plus I just like imagining that victoria's dad was surrounded by so so so many unhinged mad scientists. & I also find it very very very funny that the ark character in question is now voiced by david tennant

not that I'm aware of! again like. small and chill fandom. who's going to be doing that.

no, and I don't think I'd want to - I'm a little bit too precious/sensitive about my writing to even have like, a beta reader or anything. I don't think I'd do well trying to co-write with someone. the closest I've come is kind of co-plotting out fics with other people (the plot of the selkie au is as much @ettelwenailinon's brainchild as mine <333)

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

I have been so deeply invested in two/jamie for so long that I can no longer untangle it from myself.

What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

the fic I want to write most is a super comprehensive multichapter spanning about two years between jamie getting dropped off at culloden after the war games and two coming to pick him up again for 6b. I have a general sweep of the arc, some summary notes, and pages and pages of historical notes for it. unfortunately I don't think I'm ever going to feel like I've done enough historical research to justify writing it, even if I do somehow magically get myself to buck up into writing proper longfic.

What are your writing strengths?

hm idk! I'm quite pleased with some of my prose/descriptions sometimes. & I've had a few comments over the years saying I'm good at characterisation, which is always nice to hear.

I never really know what's good about my writing tho. not out of any sense of inferiority or false modesty or anything, I just. don't think that deeply about writing in general. the words come out & if I like them I like them

What are your writing weaknesses?

^^^ as I am always saying I wish I could break down the mental block that's stopping me from writing longfic

kinda related but like. I'm definitely a perfectionist and that can paralyse me sometimes when I'm trying to write a first draft.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I need to do it more often!!

my absolute dream would be to be able to translate all my fics into gàidhlig tbh. but I love love love giving jamie gàidhlig dialogue, or even just dropping little turns of phrase into his english dialogue, stuff like that. I definitely feel like there's some space between how I write/characterise jamie and how he is on screen, but to some degree that's a conscious decision. I'm always trying to strike a balance between like, writing him in character and writing him in a way that feels authentic to his time and cultural background. but dropping in bits of gàidhlig is a fun way of doing that (and also of getting myself to write in the language which is definitely good practice)

First fandom you wrote for?

hm I mean technically ig it was the saddle club. I was like 3 years old and I wrote a 'book' about the horses.

in terms of like, actively writing fic with the conscious knowledge of what fic was, probably fic about warrior cats ocs when I was about 11/12.

Favorite fic you’ve written?

old ghost's waltz, always. I loved how it came together, it was my first real dip into doing super historical jamie fic & a sort of replacement for the post-war games longfic I may never write, and it was a response to the phantom piper, which drives me absolutely insane in both good and bad ways. like it gave me so many ideas but god I could fix her.

unsorted is a very solid second though. it had all the historical fic joy of old ghost's waltz (even more so in some parts - the scene with jamie and connie might be my favourite scene I've ever written), and it was just. so cathartic to write as an expression of a headcanon I'd kind of hidden for so many years bc I was worried it wouldn't be well-received. it's my favourite fic to get comments on just because it always feels like a relief to see people enjoying it.

his ass would choose the seat farthest away from the court simply bc he didn’t want to be seen and he would make the snarkiest remarks while watching about how they played and you would just be like: .. yea..... 

he’d realize that you’re a little confused abt what’s going on and then go:

“need me to explain anything princess?”

you lean into him and nod a bit, turning your head to smile up at him

his glasses reflect some light but he shifts them so he can look you in the eyes

sense8 (featuring characters representing literally all the letters in lgbt, plus wholesome poly relationships, tho i remember there are some cultural stereotypes there and the plot was p ridiculous to me at times lmao)

the show I’m currently UTTERLY obsessed with - what we do in the shadows 💚💚 comedic “documentary” show about vampires, so fresh because it’s incredibly normal in terms of body types (chubby, fat, hairy, bald) and different cultures (main cast is characters from mexico, iran, uk, us, greece, played by actors who actually have their roots in those countries) and because it doesn’t idealize vampires, instead they are dumb immortals who lived too long on this world to care about appearances or to follow the current times, they are crude, unapologetic, and so incredibly queer. I love them so much. And in terms of bl here - well one ship is becoming canon and gods i’m gonna lose it when the next season airs, one of my otps of all times i adore this stupid vampire x his badass familiar asjfhsdkbjf someone shut me up about them

For Your Love by Park Nodeok (also school bois, we follow a guy who noticed that his hyung has a crush on a guy, having bad experiences about gay relationships from his brother he tries to help the guy, gradually gets interested and starts developing his own feelings... a slow burn which is so believable in its progress, you can really feel the feelings changing and growing, the denial and fear painfully relatable. Also the main character is v chill and fun)

Hidamari Ga Kikoeru by Fumino Yuki (college, treats about disabilities which are not visible such as being mute or deaf, the male lead has severe hearing impairment and deals with a lot of issues because of it, and the story explores it well and respectfully, this whole manga is very wholesome and sweet, also a slow burn, I really like to suffer huh)

Mauri to Ryuu by Moto Haruhira (a series of short stories about gods x humans falling in love, very wholesome and precious 😭 well, warn for some abuse, slavery, war, because the world there is harsh, but the couples are soft and come to rescue if anything happens ;-;)

Dasadanan by Herb Mandu (if you want something light, cute, and funny, slice of life, school as well)

I remember some works by Tanaka Suzuki, like Aitsu no Daihonmei or Muchuu no Hito (slice of life with a lot of humor and some fantasy elements i’d say? Her works tend to be quite abstract and unsettling in the way dreams can be, like everything is fine and normal until you learn one fact or something happens and everyone in the world is normal about it while you suddenly realise that something with that world is very different to what you thought and you just sit there flabbergasted or lose grip of what is happening. It’s been a while since I read those so I don’t remember how much abstraction was here, these were pretty tame I think, I briefly checked out her latest works and let me tell you they’re fcked up lmao)

i’m just your problem from adventure time: this ones a bit tricky since at is my favorite show of all time and i cannot detach this song from its in-show context very well but there is a very cool animatic with this song that landed it a spot on the playlist

man burning by josh ritter: almost became an animatic but the audio i wanted to use (which i recorded at a josh ritter concert and it’s just him and his guitar and there’s echo and it’s very haunting and pretty) has my stepbrother singing in the background and i could not edit it out so. that will probably not happen. but anyways the only hole i would pick in this song is that it’s mostly about self sabotage which isn’t really applicable but i think the imagery is cool

mamma mia by abba: here me out. here me out. this is another song that fits so well and i have spent so many hours thinking about this and somewhere there is a note on my phone explaining how every single line relates to c!wilbur’s entire arc from founding l’manburg to the resurrection (made when we thought gbur was going to get resurrected in january) and just. the metaphorical ‘you’ is l’manburg does this make any sense (another almost animatic except now that wilbur’s actually back it might become an actual animatic)

the other side of paradise by glass animals: no idea why this is here other than being a Dream SMP Song. it’s good tho

Kory leans back a little, definitely not liking the sound of that. She’s about to tell Gar maybe they shouldn’t when Raven speaks. Calmly standing from her own seat, she says, “It sounds like a healing tradition we used to do on Azarath. I’ll go with you.”

“Awesome!” Gar beams, and transforms into a bird, flying around Raven’s head. “Wanna go now?”

“I really don’t think this is a good idea,” Dick says, tapping his fingers agitatedly.

“That’s because you have some sense,” Donna replies dryly.

“We just wanna do something relaxing for once, and what’s better for relaxing than a walk?” Gar asks.

“Are you out of your gourd? A relaxing walk in the dark woods in the middle of a night?”

“You said it yourself, the moon is out! It’ll be bright, and if we get lost, I’ll just turn into a bloodhound or something.”

Vic groans instead of replying. 

“Anyway,” Gar says, stretching the word out, “You ready, Rave?”

She nods, and without further ado, they stroll out the door. 

The four of them stare after their teammates.

“They can’t go alone,” Donna says after a moment.

Vic and Dick glance at each other, Vic raising an eyebrow. But before either of them can say anything, Kory stands. “I’ll go with them. If anything happens, I’ll just send up a starbolt.”

“Are you sure, hon?” Dick asks.

She sweeps over to peck him, promising, “I’m very sure. Ryand’r and I would play in the forests on Tamaran all the time. Just keep an eye out.”

“I definitely will,” Vic says, and she can’t help but laugh at the expression on his face.

P sure I’ve mentioned this before but when have I ever listened to prompts tbh. K-173 has a brutal ongoing feud with a kind of giant feline alien that’s essentially a ”throw down on sight” situation that’s based on the fact that my own cat likes to attack the needle felted KR plush I made awhile back.

K-173 actually wanted more children. Just a huge family. He’d always hated being an only child and didn’t want that for Beth. Annabelle did too originally but her pregnancy with Beth was way too hard on her so they decided to stop at one. Sooo Kink got a vasectomy rather than Anna going on BC. In some way he regrets getting that done but in others he’s grateful because he’d be too terrified of potentially losing another child. 

THREE THINGS YOUR MUSE LIKES TO DO IN THEIR FREE TIME:

Robotics! Kink loves to tinker around with making different robots. His favorite kind to make are hyper realistic animals or insects that he often adds in some little design feature to help out around his place. Surveillance, security, environmental monitoring, that kinda thing. He has a ton of them walking around in the forest around his cabin and on the island he owns with his boyfriend. 

Playing the piano. He likes to fool around with writing some songs but he mostly just plays songs that he’s heard and enjoyed. 

Art for fun. It can be argued that his robotics and even his shop are very artistic pursuits (sometimes science is more art than science) but in his free time he enjoys painting and sketching as well.

Not taking Beth to space more. She was always fascinated by it but he was afraid something would happen to her out there. Now he often thinks about all the times he told her he’d take her and just... never did. 

TWO PHOBIAS/FEARS YOUR MUSE HAS

Cars still give him wicked bad anxiety. He’s totally fine with like.. motorcycles and ships but being in a car is something that he really struggles with despite the fact that he wasn’t actually involved in the accident. He just has that association and it’s hard.

It’s obvious but losing the people he loves. He has some days where he might kind of spam text messages a little (sorry guys jskhdfdf) because he’s worried that something has happened to them. He gets Really Nervous if someone is late coming home or if they’re late meeting him because he starts overthinking and worries they’ve been in an accident.

omg ok so first of all im v honored/flattered that you’d ask me this???? so thank you sm

lmao okay sooo i know it’s cheesy but honestly just reading and writing as much as you can is v important lol i’ve been writing fanfic since for like,, 6 years and reading it for 7 (lol) and i’m still tryna improve. also if you have writer’s block or need inspiration there are plenty of places on tumblr (and the internet in general!!) to find prompts. i also listen to music if i need ideas bc more than half the time my ideas come from music, but that might just be me lol

in terms of the writing process i don’t really have a great one tbh lol. most people write multiple drafts on separate documents, which is smart!! and a v good idea!! but i’m a dumbass and i only ever have one document that i just revise and edit a few times lol (both as a go and after i have a finished first draft). i’ve seen people say that they just get all the key plot stuff and dialogue down first and then go back and add details and more narration while editing, which is definitely effective for some people, but i personally just immerse myself in the scene im picturing and describe it as much as i can so i don’t lose the image (again bc im the worst and don’t do things the way i probably should lmao). getting ideas down as soon as you can after you have them is so important imo tho, like i have so many ideas and fragments in the notes app on my phone lmao. so i really don’t know if this paragraph was helpful at all, but that’s the way i do things lol

i think the most important thing when writing fanfic (and any sort of fiction at all honestly) is that it should be for you. like, writing fic is the most self-indulgent thing i do in my life lmao. the great thing about fanfic is that people (for the most part) aren’t really too critical; people wanna read about their ship and talk to other people who ship it about how great it is lol so for that reason fanfic is a great experience for writing bc overall people are really supportive. just have fun with it and dont take it too seriously bc if you do it won’t be as fun anymore. just write whatever you want honestly and there will almost definitely be people interested in reading it!!

i definitely prefer it on PC! controls aside i just like the bigger screen tbh (my laptop is 15″). mostly the differences are the controls/buttons! since you can’t hold down multiple buttons at once on mobile, they’ve got more to cover all the functions (pc doesn’t have an extra dash button, we just right click or press shift; if we’re in the air i think one of the buttons turns into the drop down/plunge, rather than showing like 3 on mobile? i can’t remember precisely but yeahhh; there’s also the joystick on the left side of the screen on mobile that obviously isn’t there on pc bc we have the keyboard. it’s also harder to move the camera around whilst doing things on mobile i feel?) 

and nah i don’t think i’ll make another acc, esp since i’ve gotten so far into game already but i did definitely think about it as a possibility ahahah (bc of my bad luck... i was wondering if i did a reroll (second) acc i might be able to get diluc FJKHSKDFS)
