∆ please help us

we can not afford any of our basic needs

i usually try to keep this as light as possible, but i have put this off for long enough that i have to post this. me and my partner desperately need help. we are just two gay people trying to make it alone here with absolutely no support system.

who we are: im j (or jet), im 24 year old trans guy whose had this account since 2014. i married my partner in 2018, we even met on tumblr when we were younger, we've been together for years. my partner is disabled (diagnosed with autism and seizure disorder and others)

what we need: our cat had an emergency surgery two years ago that means he needs to be on a prescription diet (hills urinary food) for his entire life. the vet suddenly said we need to bring him in again to get his prescription renewed and we cant order any more food for him until then, which he will not survive without, and he is not allowed to eat any alternative food without risking his life. we have less than half of a 8 lb bag of it which will not last him through the next month. with the vet, food, and ubers to get to the vet and to the only place they sell the food = 200

to try to summarize our situation, we were kicked out by family and made officially homeless for the first time last year. this is right after we moved across states (wa to az) to support my partners family upon their request, only to be subjected to abuse and kicked out directly due to homophobia in an unfamiliar state after a few months. this left both of us and all of our animals entirely homeless. we luckily have an apartment now but our situation is still not okay. we lost all of our belongings at this time, everything, and have not been able to replace them as we have fixed income. my partner is especially affected by this situation, as it was traumatizing, and they have just had to power through trauma after trauma because of poverty, more than i can say.

i also have severe dental problems that are not covered by medicaid in az and i have no way to afford. this includes wisdom teeth, root canals, and many cavities that will turn into that crazy expensive treatment if i don't fix it. some may remember this (+this). i was only able to have a little bit of work done before we were homeless and one root canal failed. i cant keep ignoring it, because they are worried about two of the cavities becoming root canals, and i want to prevent another infection, but thats at least 250 each.

we are still not going to be able to afford rent in future months because our EBT was delayed last month and i had to spend money we don't have to afford anything, and now we are in serious jeopardy even affording rent, let alone bills. our pets (2 cats 1 small dog) also desperately need vaccinations, which is dangerous to keep going this overdue without with their health problems. our dog has also been limping for the past week and he needs to be seen when that is ever possible.

any donations would go first to the vet appointment and cat food, then the other needs in order of priority. will keep updating this, i know its a lot and i really don't expect anything, i am begging for help with any of this

we are both students, we are trying to work towards stability, while being stuck here. i do everything i can to bring in money to support us on my own. we make 200 less than rent is monthly. i am in school to become a caseworker so i am aware of a lot of resources in my area, and have applied for everything, but we can not do this alone which is why i have to ask for help. i am so sorry for having to do this but i appreciate any support that i do have because of this website. you guys literally save my life. helping out other poor people and getting helped out on here has been the most compassion ive ever been a part of. dollars, even pennies, worth of donations has kept my cat safe, has affected me in real ways. it actually matters to us, no matter the amount.

This is Marley's bill from the vet. Normally, insurance would have covered it. But 2 days shy of the 14 day period where the provider wouldn't cover in event of death... Yeah.

I've paid £100 off it so far. But the vet is holding Marley's body back from cremation until the bill is paid in full.

I'm not angry about that. I get it.

But I want him home.

He deserves to be home.

Hopefully I'll be able to get some money from this old car that is being sold, if the guy buying it actually does buy it. But that'll only cover half the remaining 500. Still, its a step in the right direction.

I really don't want to ask anymore, not for this, never for this, but... Help would be appreciated right now.

Tldr Minmo’s been to the vet twice, third time will be today. She’ll have an x-ray at the least which is more expensive than the last two visits. Will possibly need further treatment. I am a disabled person living off of disability payments alone which are far below the poverty line, making it hard to get by day to day without any extra expenses.

so uh, in a short time span of events tonight, tomarrow I get to: (1) report an asshole to the police/animal control for animal cruelty and (2) take an abandoned, malnourished, diseased and infected but socially friendly fella who's too lethargic to be comfortable to the Good Vet tomarrow to get completely checked out

and (3) my family gained an attatchment immediatly after holding him so I'm pretty sure we just gained a new cat friend

My sweet little Violeta has Feline Hepatic Lipidosis and damage in her kidneys (something we didn’t even know), and at the moment she’s got a reserved diagnostic ;; Her liver is very damaged, and I couldn’t hospitalize her because it was way too expensive, (more than it was at the beginning) but since she’s eating (albeit a bit forced but still) and keeps her little kitty lifestyle I was approved to treat her at home for now. I was able to buy all her meds and special food for her, so thank you so much for helping me, kind B, who donated for her and for helping us out so much 🩷

I just hope it gets better from now, I don’t want her to suffer 😞

I hate this new wave of impossibility with shelters

When my cat cookie had her last oops litter we tried to surrender them to the local shelter cause we figured theyd find homes easier that way BUT the shelter wanted $400 per kitten plus several "interviews" with the kittens over the course of like 3 months before they would even think of taking them, and if they decided against taking the kittens you were down $400x however many kittens (in my case it would of been $1200) and the kittens would be like 6 months old and at that point you might as well just keep them all and get them all desexed instead of taking them to the pound to surrender them at all

We ended up rehoming them via facebook and two of them went to the same home a week apart

They...wanted you to pay $400 to surrender animals to them??? That alone is insane but an extended interview period with the kittens as well? Are they applying to work there like what the fuck?

I was raised with egg chickens and those little shits are so happy and peaceful, they are given warmth and food and housing and protection- same with meat ones, they live so well and issue-free, they are protected from predators and never run out of food, wheres the problem??? THey will die eventually anyway! I'd rather have chickens raised well and killed ethically than them get treated badly, cause I will be eating chicken either way, they taste good.

RIGHT like... this is a quality of life thing for me, they aren't exactly living in a factory farm!! these motherfuckers live well. and they owe me money. also we don't generally butcher our birds, personally, we just let them get old- but I'm starting to think that we should, bc when chickens live a little too long then their deaths start getting REAL stressful

Moose Commissions

I hate to make a post like this, but here we are.

This is one of my cats, Moose. He recently has had to go to the vet a couple times because of a limp and the pads of his paws looking somewhat unusual (swollen and cracked) and bleeding. Vets say that the exact cause of the issue is unknown (either pillow foot or an autoimmune issue). He has gotten some vaccines and an injected steroid/antibiotic on top of blood draws. His blood results were ok, thankfully he didn't have feline HIV - which can be common with cases of pillow foot, but he is anemic (and has a few other problems). He is now taking pill steroids and a vitamin food additive (but with him being a picky weirdo it's difficult). We also try to rub coconut oil into his feet when he lets us to help with the dryness.

Good news is that the injections helped and he is doing better, but it cost a lot altogether. So I'm going to open up commissions for a bit to help balance out the cost.

Watching Providence for the first time since it aired. I mostly remember Mike Farrell playing a vet because he was the reason I watched (Mike Farrell + cute animals= yay). He usually was just sitting holding a dog, from what I can remember, which is fine with me.

I do also remember the slightly irritating family squabbles, and the frustrating religiosity. I even, weirdly, remember Patrick Fabian playing her ex.

the fundamental difference between my mom and me - one of them anyway - is that she thinks of children like pets and i think of pets like children. she's like awww i want a grandchild so bad why will neither of my kids give me grandchildren and i'm like ma'am you don't want a grandchild. you want to have unrestricted access to a baby. what about when it grows up and it's not little and cute anymore? are you still gonna take care of it when it chews power cords and pees on the furniture? answer: no, because who takes care of her dog? me. i'm like if you want to take care of and cuddle something we have one dog and two cats in this house that rely on us and we have a responsibility to put them ahead of ourselves for as long as they live and she's like yeah but animals smell bad. as if babies don't.

hey fun fact: if your dog eats something they really shouldn’t (compost, rodenticide or insecticide, chocolate, raisins or grapes, onions or garlic, anything with xylitol, coffee grounds, corn cobs, pieces of toys, string, etc) yes you can induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide but please make sure you are giving the proper amount and then call the aspca poison control hotline! hydrogen peroxide can cause irritation of the esophagus and it is not ideal, obviously in emergency situations where you may not be able to make it to a vet soon enough it may be your only option.

and so u know what to expect: when u get to the vet hospital they may administer apomorphine to make your dog vomit and then afterwards an antiemetic to prevent nausea and vomiting. apomorphine is usually only effective if your pet has eaten the material within four hours (but i have seen it work on a dog who ate chocolate 6+ hours before the drug was administered). for toxic materials if it’s been long enough and your pet has partially digested the materials hospitalization may be recommended, or at least blood work being rechecked daily for a few days. for materials that may cause blockages, like corn cobs or pieces of toys, depending on the size of your dog and the size of the object you may be told to monitor at home. if necessary an endoscopy or a surgical procedure to remove the foreign material will be recommended. please don’t take your dog eating foreign material lightly, it can be very serious, i have seen dogs die because the foreign body inside of them went unremoved for prolonged periods of time. the sooner you get it out, the better for your dogs health (and the better for your bank account).

p.s. if your dog eats a battery or something sharp and piercing like a needle or wooden skewer, please DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING take them to the vet immediately
