swagger SDMP day 4 highlights - swagger first improved his tools, getting a fortune 3 neptunium pickaxe (from aquaculture) and getting stacks of ore (diamonds, iron, etc) from a hollow hill in the twilight forest - the rest of stream was dedicated to working on his restaurant/dispensary, swagger's hasherdabbery (a play on words on haberdashery. hash and dabs like weed. you get it)

Well it depends on the kind of game you like, but if you like indie game you should definetly try Everybody's gone to the rapture, of What remains of Edith Finch. I LOVED these two.

If you enjoy playing horror games, i can recommand Resident Evil. RE8 Village is my safe place, but i love them all.

I enjoyed playing The Quarry even if it was a bit... meh in my opinion, and I like the new Alone in the dark which was released recently.

Also Im a SLUT for the AC franchise, my favorites are AC2, Black Flag, Origins, and Odyssey.

More masterpieces that i love with my whole heart : RDR2, Plague Tale (1&2), The Witcher, Mass Effect, Ori and the Blind Forest (the soundtrack is breathtaking)

If you like brain-teasers you should definetly try Return of the Obra Dinn, or Chants of Sennaar.

And I could keep going like this for hOURS, I play VG all the time but i think you'll have enough with all these!

3 weeks later

The past 3 weeks have passed quickly, as one would expect when they are settling in a new country. We hit the ground running as Naomi went straight back to work and I started my online study for the physio exam I am required to take. We currently live in a tiny apartment in down town while we wait for our shipment to arrive and settle our rental contract (very exciting news potentially!). On our first weekend we went winter clothes shopping, because who on earth would have clothes suitable for -40 degree weather conditions. After a lot of good advice from the experts I left with clothes that would puff me up like a penguin, but keep me warm. Pictures below are from the park around the corner and apartment view.

On our second weekend we did the Healy Pass trial which was through the forest, up the valley to a small pass from which we had stunning views over Egypt Lake and the larch trees spread out beneath us. Days like these make me realize how lucky I am to have such nature less than 1.5 hours drive away from me. This was 2 days after the news of that 2 experienced hikers got killed in a bear attack which did make us a bit more alert while hiking.

On Wednesday we visited my first ice hockey game, from now on referred to as ''hockey''. I had to compromise on this change of naming to get Naomi to accept that ''football'' was the proper sport with a round ball, not the eggball they play here. In return hockey is played on ice, while field hockey on a pitch. Anyway, watching my first ever ice hockey game left me with mixed feelings. The first 7 minutes were great, high intensity, body slams, great feats of skill. Everything you hope to see in a good sports game. And then BOOM, lights out, everyone skates to the ''dug out'' and these ice sweepers skate onto the rink to clean up the chaffed ice. But while they do so adverts and minigames are being played in the arena. A very confused Rob was then told this was the ad break, so the tv advertisements could play and generate revenue. And this didn't happen just once, but every 6-7 minutes, for each period of the game... That's a total of 6 interruptions, without the official breaks! You can now understand that this did not fall well with a European who is used to watching a sport 45 min + extra time undisturbed. with a nonsense fluffy dog mascot entering into the crowd shooting T-shirt cannisters from his high pressure gun. It was a cool experience, but the take away message was that American sport events are more led to be ''entertainment'' events where sport comes second.

Lastly, I've already experienced how the weather can swing within a few days. 5 days ago I played my first football match with my new team (VG Legion) in 20 degrees. Within 5 days the weather has swung from that, to a 10cm layer of snow and -10 degrees. Better get used to it, at least I was on time buying warm clothing!

As a game dev I feel bad for the Minecraft team, I totaly get why people are upset about the firefly and the birch biome, but my guys, adding a new boss type character is a humongus task, especially in such a short time frame.

I can tell you all that the fact that, they wanted to send the Warden out in the next update, and that was their priority, so by Mojang standards it had to be really clean with as few bugs as possible (0 bugs is really hard to send out, even for a big team)

So they were probably thinking, ehat can we cut so no one is overworked and the priority asset is the main focous, and BAM birch forest is out.

Next a higher up says to the team, firefly are poisonous to frogs, don't make them eat it. So the team was ok! But then fireflies didn't have a use, and they didn't have the time to brinstorm, conceptualize, program, make assets for the fireflies, and then BAM fireflies are out.

I understand people are upset, but please think about how many AAA teams are overworked and underpaid, and still sends stuff with 0 quality (cof cof Cyberpunk). And maybe this update isn't what you expected, but who knows what the next updates will have.

Yoir feelings are valid, but let's not shit on a team of people that are trying their best ok?

We finally went to the Van Gogh exhibit at the Indianapolis Arts Museum, known as Newfields Saturday.

TL;DR

Many months ago D said she'd "really" like to go see the exhibit at THE LUME Indianapolis described as featuring nearly 30,000 sq. ft. of New Immersive Digital Art Galleries.

I heard the "really" and since the thing that "most" makes me happy is to make her happy, I began to suggest it. Except there always seemed to be a reason why it wasn't a good time. It was the same with the Forest Giant wood sculptures down at Bernheim Forest. I sort of gave up suggesting it.

A couple of weeks ago we saw the Giants and it was kind of perfect. It was a Wednesday with few other park visitors and the day was mildly over-cast but still comfortable. Since we were nearby, we made quick stops at the Willet and Heaven Hills distillery. Both distilleries had enlarged and beautified their facilities since I was there last but neither had product I wanted on hand.

D enjoyed the Van Gogh exhibit more than I did. I'm not a fan of impressionist art and VG's paintings remind me of my uncle's. Since my uncle isn't trying to produce impressionist paintings, that's not a good thing. A couple of years ago, he gifted me one of his paintings saying he remembered I'd said I really liked it. Hmmm, sounds like something I would say.

After the VG exhibit we went for lunch to a brewery I wasn't aware existed before that morning. The Blind Owl. Great name! Had their award winning Pilsner, because the strong Belgian Ale on their website wasn't actually still on. No matter, it was a great pils and the barbacoa tacos were delicious but I wasn't feeling it so we left after one beer.

From there we drove to Guggman Haus Brewing. D and I had visited not long after it opened, a few years ago. It was in a charming old house and we took our my beer out into a simple graveled patio area where we sat with coats on by a fire pit and talked quietly with some other visitors. I was looking forward to a revisit.

When we pulled up, I was flabbergasted! On the way, I'd been trying to remind D of our first visit and she said she couldn't remember an old house. We do this quite a lot. I rarely forget an experience and she often doesn't remember. So when I saw the sign for the brewery on the side of a large modern-looking brick building and no little house in sight, I could feel (imagine) doubt emanating from her.

Then we walked towards the building and suddenly, the little house came into view. "Oh I remember now!" she exclaimed.

The brewery had moved into much larger facilities next door and while the patio area was still there, it was hardscaped and covered now with no cheap fire pits. Oh well, they were suppose to have a Belgian Tripel on tap. They did. It was not great and the place was so loud even though we sat close, on a big leather couch, we could barely hear each other. When another couple sat on a sofa next to us, we neither tried to have a conversation. Then it began to pour down rain and our rain coats were sat warm and dry in the car. So we I had to suffer another beer, at least it warm inside. I'll remember

I imagine living one's life is sort of like painting a picture. You effort to make it a masterpiece, each day you add some strokes. At the end of each day you can look at what you've done.

Van Gogh lived a life we are still looking at...and he painted.
