My next literary adventure. I think this directly ties into the aesthetic of the gothic subculture we know and love today, and I wanna bring that spirit back to goth. This may even be inspiration for a future @seriously_strange with @robdyke - loads of morbid, true-life information! #victorian #victorianculture #victorianbookofthedead #gothliterature #gothgirls #gothgirlswhoactuallyread #gothgirl #gothyoutuber

Imaginative yet fully believable, this book tells the story of a princess navigating her debut ball (and a love triangle) in a society where Victorian culture meets genome sequencing. And it is SO STINKING GOOD. 👸🏽🧬 #thatinevitablevictorianthing #victorianculture #inevitable #intersex #intersexbooks #lesbianbooks #bisexualcharacters #canada #debutball #comingout #genesequencing #humangenome #britishroyalty #royalfamily #princess #lgbt #lgbtq #lgbtbooks #lgbtqbooks #queer #queerbooks #queerliterature #queerlit #lgbtliterature #lgbtqliterature #yaliterature #yabooks #bookstagram #ekjohnston https://www.instagram.com/p/Buuk2qMAjZd/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1h7l00x9itifu

Life in the wealthy quarters of Victorian Western Europe must have been an odd experience. While lengths of steel wrapped around your manor's heartland, rattled over by strange, monolithic dragons of iron... You could smoke a tiny version of said locomotives, filled with tobacco instead of coal and water. In the Victorian era, pipes and tobacco accessories rapidly became luxurious and artistic, taking on rich materials, tones and figural forms to display one's love for inhaling fumes! This French pipe dates to the mid-1800s, when both were at their rising heights of popularity. Delicately - but clearly - cast in clay, this tiny steam engine - "Paris" or "Montreau" no.5 - is beautifully glazed, with a large funnel, dome, and six wheels - and an opening "smokebox" door for tobacco! #antique #vintage #victorian #railway #locomotive #pipe #antiquepipe #victorianpipe #clay #art #livinghistory #history #heritage #tobacco #smoking #pipes #rail #unusual #curio #frenchhistory #victorianlife #victorianart #victorianculture #tobaccania
