I'm like super normal and not unhinged in the slightest (I spent 3 days formatting, printing, and binding a niche internet story about sci fi football into a 280 page physical book)

It’s finally here!!! A little small introduction to the characters and vine of mine and @nnnnnnnothingtoseehere ‘s mythology au that will hopefully be out soon! Just think of this as a little precursor to that ;)

In short, each of the Ateez members are a different kind of Korean mythological spirit, having existed for hundreds if not thousands of years. They exist due to the belief of the people, and have continued to live throughout modern times, where they’ve learned to adapt (mostly) into society! That’s all I can say rn, but look forward to N’s writing and see a little yungi Joseon precursor here!

as far as audio/visual digital stuff is concerned i think part of the reason people romanticise the past so much is a very genuine anxiety about perfection. a fuzzy camera lens or botched audio is cringe and offputting, but when you frame it as something retro, the imperfections come across as deliberate and become integral to the aesthetic

#thunder rambles #i was watching alexander avila's video on brat and i was like. why the retro TVs. why the aspect ratio. why the fuzzy camera lens #like its cool and its a vibe but it made me wonder why it's In right now to use these aesthetics of the past #and obviously ppl are always recyclig trends and romanticising the past but why is it Like This and why Right Now #like dnp do it too. same with the shitty retro TVs and shitty 90s fashion. theyre just doing the trashy thing on purpose #and owning it. and it works as an aesthetic #i dont think ive spoken about it here but i have a flip phone. i use tumblr on my pc most of the time #and there are burner phones or ways to downgrade your smartphone to be less addictive #but i chose a flip phone because i think its cool. and in retrospect i think because it communicates deliberacy #owning a flip phone was uncool when i was young because it meant your parents either couldnt afford a smartphone #or didnt allow you to have one #but nowadays no one has them. smartphones are seen as a must-have item (think qr codes and things that only work on apps)#so it's straight-up ridiculous to have your phone be something that does None Of That Shit. yet here we are #yea. making the active choice to use Worse Versions of things from the Past as a means of Shying Away from the Anxious Perfectionism #of the Modern Day Internet.
