    "I said alive and well, you incompetent buffoons," Remus snarls, striding forward to the bars of the cell.

'Cell' really is a generous word. This is a cage in all but name. There are scraps of what were at some point clothing strewn about on top of ratted bedding and ruined sheets. Blood and what-else stain the metal and cloth alike.

And, of course, the hero is curled limply in a corner with one of his arms hanging precariously by a shackle.

"They fought," one of the idiots says, "wouldn't come quietly."

"So you knock him out," Remus says through gritted teeth, "with a tranq or a sedative that I know damn well you carry. You don't do this."

"What's the difference," he hears someone mutter, 'this was gonna happen anyway."

Remus slowly turns around to stare at the offending speaker, pleased to see the blood drain from their face. He takes a step closer.

"Uh—uh, what I meant was—"

"Silence."

The idiot's mouth snaps shut.

"Take them."

"Wait, wait, boss, no! I swear, I—"

"Get out, all of you," Remus orders, turning back to the cell, "and if I hear that any of you have been in here without proper clearance, you'll be facing a far worse fate."

The room clears with a few more frightened squeaks and finally, finally, the two of them are left alone.

Remus lets out a slow breath before reaching for the keys. He unlocks the door to the cell and steps inside, wincing when the hero barely registers the sound or movement.

"Oh, you poor thing," he mutters under his breath as he takes in the ring of bruises around the hero's wrist and exposed ribs, "this wasn't supposed to happen."

He moves closer to the shackle, reaching for it with the key, when the hero finally notices him.

"Whoa, whoa, hey, hey," he says as the hero's eyes widen and he goes to jerk away, "easy, easy, I'm not here to hurt you."

Of course, the hero doesn't believe him.

"Look, I've got the key, see?" He holds it up to the hero can see it. "I'm going to unlock the shackle, just hold still, alright?"

The hero's eyes are blank. Remus stifles the urge to hunt down the henchmen responsible and swallows.

"Virgil, I'm going to unlock the shackle and then we're going to get you out of here," he says in as calm a voice as he can, "okay?"

No response, but he doesn't try and pull away when Remus reaches with the key again.

"That's it," he murmurs, "just…just let me take this off."

The instant his fingers touch the shackle, he wants to rethink the whole letting-the-henchmen-off thing. This shackle is not only rusted beyond belief, but there are enough sharp edges digging into his fingertips that he doesn't want to imagine what it must be like to have it attached to him. He jams the key into the lock and unlocks it as quickly as he can.

Virgil gasps in relief as it falls away, clutching his bloodied wrist to his chest.

"There," Remus says quietly, "that's better, right?"

The hero stares up at him with hopeless confusion and Remus swallows.

"Come on," he encourages, "let's get you out of here. You need a bath."

Virgil's light. He's too light. He's too light and too weak and Remus is going to kill someone.

He carries Virgil out of the cell, down a corridor, and into one of the private bathhouses. There's a big pool on one side, a small shower on the other. He carefully sets Virgil down.

"I need to get this off of you," he says, tugging lightly at the filthy remains of his clothes, "you need to get clean, okay?"

No response.

"…alright, then."

In almost any other situation, the thought of peeling the hero out of his clothes would've been funny, but each new bruise or wound or too-thin limb he reveals just makes him angrier and angrier. Scars he remembers inflicting mix with scars he doesn't until he can't tell who it is he's looking at anymore.

What makes it so terribly unfunny is that poor Virgil is so confused. He keeps trying to bat Remus away with barely a kitten's strength, blinking hazily until Remus comes up to his face, speaking softly to him until he calms down.

"You need to get clean," he keeps saying, "it's okay."

It isn't okay. It's far from okay. But one thing at a time.

Eventually, he manages to get Virgil out of the filthy clothes—if they can even be called clothes anymore—and strips off his own outer layers as well, carefully picking the hero up and setting them in the shower.

"If I can get the worst of it off you in here," he murmurs as he makes sure the water is warm, "then you won't need two baths."

Virgil does not react well to the water.

"No! No, no—no more—" he flails out until Remus catches and stills him— "no, no, stop—"

"Shh, shh," Remus soothes, wrapping his arms around him, "it's not going to hurt you. It's just a shower, it's okay. Shh, shh, it's okay."

He ends up awkwardly on the floor of the shower, curled around Virgil to keep him from hurting himself, carefully scrubbing at the worst of the blood.

"Shh," he keeps murmuring as the poor thing slowly begins to settle, "it's okay. It's okay. It won't hurt you, it's okay."

It takes far longer than it should, probably because he's trying to fight down the urge to commit a massacre, but eventually, the hero settles into his arms, letting him wash away the worst of the filth from his body. Virgil pants weakly against his neck, one hand scrabbling for a hold on his shoulders.

"That's it, it's okay, you did great." He takes a deep breath. "I'm gonna go get the bath ready now, okay? Can I leave you in here, or do you want to come with me?"

He's not sure if Virgil can register the question, but as soon as he goes to pull away, Virgil lets out a frightened mewl and clings to him.

"Okay, okay, you can come with me."

He fumbles to shut the water off, hushing the poor hero as he starts to shudder from the cool air in the bathroom. He clambers a bit awkwardly into the bath, precious cargo in tow, and turns the water on. Balancing Virgil in his lap, he reaches out to plug the tub and make sure the water is warm enough.

Surprisingly, Virgil doesn't freak out in the bath like he did in the shower. A hose, then, maybe, as opposed to a bucket, caused the aversion to the water. Remus isn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and keeps up the litany of comforting words.

"Good job, see? It's okay, no one's going to hurt you right now. You're doing great. Just let me clean you off a bit, okay"?"

With Virgil a little more relaxed, he coaxes him to lean against the side of the tub. He cups water carefully in his hands to scoop it up and over Virgil's head, patiently wetting his hair and neck. Virgil lets him, keeping a small grip on his shoulder.

"Good," Remus murmurs, taking him back into his arms, "can we wash it properly? Can we try that?"

Slowly, so slowly, he tips his hero back a little, wetting his hair, and sits him back up.

"Good job, you did it, you did great, I'm gonna put in the shampoo now, okay?"

But as he reaches for Virgil's hair, he gasps, panic sharpening his breath again as he goes to pull away.

"Okay, okay, we won't do that." Remus quickly washes the shampoo off his hands and holds Virgil close again. "None of that, okay? It's okay, it's okay."

He lets out a sigh of relief when Virgil stills again.

"That's it," he soothes, rubbing Virgil's back, "just stay nice and calm, okay? You're doing great."

The hero looks so small. So small, so young, so lost. It makes some soft part of Remus's chest hurt. How many times has the poor thing needed comfort, needed reassurance, and been denied it?

What had the henchmen done to him?

And what was he going to do now?

He's pulled out of his thoughts when the body in his arms starts to go limp.

"Hey, hey," he calls, pulling him a little closer, "what's wrong? You okay?"

Virgil's eyelids flutter.

"You getting tired? You wanna get out?"

No response, but as they start to rise, Virgil whines and clings onto him.

"You wanna stay in for a little longer? Okay, we can do that."

He shifts, carefully pulling Virgil into his lap as he turns, leaning against the wall of the pool with the hero balanced in his arms. The water laps around them, little ripples appearing as Virgil breathes.

"Better? Is this okay?" Virgil trails a hand lightly through the water. "Good. Okay."

There is something profoundly intimate, he realizes, about helping someone like this. Not just about cleaning him and making sure his injuries aren't too severe, or even in the sense that they're both in various states of undress, but in…having this.

This little moment in the bath where Virgil is playing with the water.

"They weren't supposed to hurt you," Remus murmurs, his lips almost brushing his hero's temple, "they weren't—this wasn't supposed to happen."

Virgil doesn't say anything, still twirling his fingers across the ripples.

"They weren't supposed to break you," he whispers, "I—I never wanted to break you."

He knew how to handle the hero. The snappy, snarky hero who would spit blood out of his mouth then spit a quip. Who would take whatever Remus could concoct and dish out and grin through it. Who could fight Remus and win.

This…he doesn't know how to handle someone this…fragile.

"It's gonna be okay," he whispers, both to Virgil and to himself, "it's gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay."

Virgil's damp hair trails across Remus's shoulder as he looks down, his eyes fluttering closed. Remus just holds him, rubbing his back gently.

"We're gonna be okay."

It's high time that we as a nation call out the number one Jungkook anti. The LV FW1 stylist. That hat? It's a piss take surely? The whole campaign is dire really, from clothes to styling, make up etc but poor Kookie must have really pissed them off to be put in that monstrosity.

The balance of this image is thrown entirely off by the hat. And the belt buckle! THE BELT BUCKLE. The rest are- look it's not my favourite line ever. It feels jumbled up and wilfully weird. Hobi looks expensive as ever. But JK looks like they ran out of outfits 😭

what are you’re headcanons for Virgil? 💜

Of course anon!

Virgil loves DIY! He made his own hoodie, he is a typical alt kid mending and patching things from the thrift store. I think that, while emo is his favourite fashion and music type, he also really loves goth music and style.

The dark side fallout happened right before Accepting Anxiety rather than after. Janus had plans about showing Thomas all the repressed aspects of himself even back then, and Virgil was the easiest to grapple with, so he was sent out on the front lines. He wasn't supposed to bond with everyone. He wasn't supposed to become friends, family, with someone else, with the others. And after tension built and built and Janus's abandonment fears consumed him, it just collapsed into a fight. Virgil decided that, really, no one wants him at all, and all he does is hurt and inconvenience every other side. So he ducked out. You know the story from there.

Virgil and Roman are only recently getting along better but they're trying. Virgil's love language is sharing his interests, and he tries to find crossovers between things they enjoy. Roman struggles with that because in his view there isn't much overlap at all. Most of their hangouts involve rewatching Nightmare Before Christmas over and over. But also! Makeup!! They do each other's makeup for fun alllll of the time. Also making clothing for each other!

THIS SIDE IS AROACEAPL!! Virgil is so aroaceapl coded to me, or at least demiromantic/demisexual and friendship neutral aplatonic. He never seems to enjoy the words 'I love you' or any implication of love being given to him. He doesn't seem to enjoy relationships in general, though he has let exceptions happen. Virgil seems very romance repulsed for himself but the second it's for Thomas's romantic life he is out to battle as Bravery for the sake of that anxious man's heart.

Speaking of, Logan is also VERY aroaceapl coded and in my mind they are in a queer romantic relationship, they love each other in a way that doesn't make sense as any currently known type of 'love'. They need each other and they make each other feel nice - Logan is someone that Virgil genuinely likes to be around, which is rare for him. They get each other's struggles and I think they could talk each other down from anything. And neither of them could ask for anything better than someone who understands.

Patton is also someone Virgil has felt love for. At first both of them mainly thought it was a familial bond, but given both of theirs' issues with comprehending romantic feelings, it was soon found to be more. Attraction gets very complicated when you're aro, ace, and aplatonic. It can be so confusing when you do like someone, and you'll often try to categorize them as something different like family or community. Virgil being demiromantic and Patton being aro confused and muddled things. But they really just care about each other either way, and they just let themselves... be. To just care for each other in whatever way they can in the moment and leave their feelings undisclosed.

Vee-man's favourite bands are MCR, All-Time Low, and A Day To Remember, but he's not as pure of an emo as you'd expect. That modern day tiktok emo music? He is a sucker for that stuff. And I want to kick his ass for it.

When they were a kid, Virgil was only known as Fear and he was a little shadow person. Like a tiny boogeyman! Really, the personification of what a kid finds scary rather than his current being made of all those adult worries. He age regresses for stress reasons and reverts to that form when doing so.

That's what I can think of right now, like with the Roman post I'll edit if I think of any more later.

oh, I live for ships. I usually have the one pet ship per fandom, as in it'll become pretty much canon in my head. if I were to list all my ships we would be here forever, but most are original character/main character x canon character ships. when it comes to oc/canon I'm the kind of person who will get seriously attached to one per character and getting it out of my head is complicated. once the brain decides this character belongs with this other character there's no changing it lol

what I'm really, truly a slut for, however, are oc/oc ships. just so much potential. so much uncharted territory.

🕵️‍♀️ Do you deal with canon characters or OCs?

both, though I will freely admit I prefer ocs over canon. mostly because it's much easier to understand the ins and outs of the character's personality and the like, and I'm very picky about characterization so I don't want to do any canon character dirty by misrepresenting them.

ironically, the more freeform a canon character is, the less I feel like writing about them. I usually joke that I don't deal well with simple instructions and it's the case for writing - I prefer characters that have a lot of lore behind them, so I can kind of study it and understand them better. which is why I wrote quite a bit for Dragon Age, back in the day.

last time I tackled this one I gave a pretty vague answer, so I'm going to do it again 🙃

out of my own characters, my favorites change from time to time, depending on how much I have developed the oc. the developing bit is what keeps me going, so if I feel like I've figured them out for the most part, I tend to leave them behind a little bit. which is why my oldest characters haven't had much screen time lately.

ooon the other hand, when it comes to other people's characters, the more I know, the more I want to know. love me some people who infodump about their fictional children and do ask memes and stuff.

I know John being asexual was a common headcanon in the TAG fandom a while ago but personally I headcannon Virgil as aromantic asexual. His true love is his home, his family, his art and music and of course Thunderbird 2.💚💚

Also I'm going to include Gordon this headcanon since I can see him as being a panromantic ace.💛💛

I like the idea of these two being the ace bro team with Virgil being oblivious to people flirting with him and Gordon swooping in and saving his brother from these awkward situations.

Virgil just insists that he thought he was having a nice friendly conversation and Gordon keeps having to explain what flirting looks like. (◍>∇<)

Last night I visited insomnia city. As I was lying awake I began contemplating the amount of fluffy prompt vs whump lists. Now, I adore fics where my favourite characters get hurt and then (sometimes) fixed at the end. However, lately I’ve been needing the comfort more.
