I just finished watching Gone with the Wind, and, I must say, I truly--with a passion--disliked Scarlett O'Hara. She had no redeeming qualities the entire movie. Historically, though, I understand why she climbed the social ladder the way she did. That's the way it was done back then. However, her childishness in regard to love infuriated me, and that's what ultimately made her unlikable.

Despite Rhett classifying himself as a social rebel, like Scarlett, I liked him overall, with exception of the times he manhandled Scarlett. He was noncommittal to relationships but eventually came around and really gave his all to both his wife and daughter. He was genuine in his intentions and his emotions, and although he was stubborn to love Scarlett and get her to love him back, I'm ultimately happy he left her. He deserved much better than Scarlett.
