On another note, we are absolutely hyped to share that our Vox Machina x Mighty Nein one-shot will air Friday, June 18th at 7pm Pacific on both our Twitch and YouTube channels. The showdown was unlocked when our $3 million stretch goal was SMASHED by all of you amazing backers.

Members of Vox Machina and the Mighty Nein will face off in an epic FIGHT TO THE DEATH! Having seven players made it a tad awkward to break out into even teams, so our brilliant GM Matthew Mercer built a mechanic into the arena so that one player will be a wildcard of sorts, who can be pulled between Vox Machina and the Mighty Nein. After a dice roll-off, our favorite goth dad, Taliesin Jaffe, claimed the wildcard title and has the unique pleasure of juggling characters and accents at a moment’s notice… Good luck, Taliesin! The rest of the Critical Role cast have been broken up between the two adventuring parties, leaving us with the following matchup:

My favorite part about the CR cast making their characters ask about the Tal'Dorei Council is that it is this constant reminder that Matt (and the cast) have to fulfill the absolutely insane stretch goal of a Vox Machina x Mighty Nein crossover. It is a logistical nightmare for everyone involved, yet the cast can't wait to know more about their own characters from Matt. VM x M9 is a rogue assassin waiting for them all around every bend. I know Matt is saving it for something truly special, and I can't contain my excitement.

Quick wild (extremely improbable) theory before the second part of the episode starts. Artagan gets sent to Feywild to face the consequences of escaping. But Vex also gets sent because she opened the portal and that's how we get VMxM9 crossover.

The only viable begining to the VMxM9 oneshot is for M9 to show up at Whitestone's teleportation circle, on horseback, and for two guards to immediately shoot Jester for trying to cast enhance ability on her allies.

What I'm mostly excited and hoping for from VMxM9 crossover that's coming next year is Beau meeting Vex. Just imagine that interaction.

My previous post aside, I'm going to issue a controversial opinion:

The story of Vox Machina should end here.

Obviously I don't mean now they die and never accomplish anything more, but... This is a satisfying ending to their story. This is a satisfying way to let these characters finally have the break they deserve.

This is the note I would end a book or a movie on.

Yes, they could do more Vox Machina one-shots, but... What do we get out of stretching their story longer again and again? Eventually they'll just be on camera for the sake of being on camera.

Each of the one-shots so far have showed us something important in their near future after Vecna. Something immediate with emotional implications we're already attached to. To go much further... Wouldn't be as satisfying.

And we have more Vox Machina coming. VM: Origins II isn't even half done yet, and we still have the special to look forward to. And the VMxM9 crossover.

We love these characters but... Don't spoil such a perfect wrap up for them now.

I love that we hit the 3M$ VMxM9 goal not only Sam but also Taliesin will have to voice three totally different characters and the chaos that that ensues.
