and it would help sell the threat of the highbreed to returning viewers, i would give Ben: a Chimera Sui Generis transformation (Gax), a Sotoraggian transformation (Tenten), and a Detrovite transformation (Technorg 2)

Who would these replace? maybe.. Humungousaur, Goop, and… idk, alien x? those 3 can be repurposed as unlocks.

In Defense of Ben during the Ultimate Kevin arc

A lot of people have complained about this arc from Ultimate Alien for years. There’s been discourse about whether Ben was OOC for wanting to kill Kevin. Some have called Ben a sociopath or claimed he wanted to kill him because Kevin upstaged him as the hero against Aggregor. While Gwen’s faith in Kevin was what ultimately saved the day, Ben’s anger towards Kevin was not out of jealousy and sociopathy but from a place of hurt from Kevin “betraying” him.

For starters, let’s look back at the OS. Ben befriended Kevin during his debut and knew him more personally than Gwen did. That friendship ended when Kevin was willing to crash a train full of people and showed Ben what he could become had he kept letting his selfishness control him. Despite that, Ben still tried to offer him help but Kevin blew it by trying to take the Omnitrix. Kevin would end up trying to frame Ben for his crimes and teaming up with Vilgax to take the Omnitrix again.

Years later, Kevin was in a healthier state of mind after training with Kwarrel to control his powers. He came across Ben again in Ben 10 Returns and briefly tried to take revenge. He ended up joining the team for selfish reasons but after Labrid’s death, decided to stay as a promise to Labrid, this time accepting a second chance from Ben. The two would slowly trust each other despite rough bumps like Kevin stealing the Rustbucket or Ben mutating him by hacking the Omnitrix. By the time of Ultimate Alien, Ben considered him the brother he never had and Kevin was thankful for being given another chance.

So when Kevin absorbed the ultimatrix to stop Aggregor, to Ben it was a betrayal after all they had been through. In Nor Iron Bars a Cage, Ben insists that Kevin “made his choice” and seems more hurt than Gwen as he had to see the same thing happen beforehand. Kevin was back to being the monster who haunted him in his worst nightmares as a child. You know what this reminds me a bit of? Raven and Terra’s dynamic in Teen Titans which ironically was also produced by Glen Murakami. Raven also had a difficult time trusting Terra at the start but eventually considered her a friend which is why she was furious at the betrayal.

Was Raven a monster or sociopath for believing Terra was evil and beyond redemption? No, she had a difficulty trusting people because of her upbringing and was proven wrong by Beast Boy but her anger was justified. Ben also was implied to have few friends in the OS which is why Gwen and later Kevin became as important to him as they are. I sympathize with Terra and Kevin, but Raven and Ben weren’t evil for wanting to stop them either. Ben didn’t want to kill Kevin either. Believing you have to do something isn’t the same as wanting to do it. He had tried to do things the “Ben” way against Aggregor and kept falling flat on his face. He admits during his talk with Max in the car that he doesn’t want to do this but feels he has to. Plus does this look like a bloodthirsty sociopath who just wants to kill his friend out of jealousy?

Ben made a mistake here and was not presented as being in the right by the narrative. He beat up Vulkanus and the Forever Knights for information and was acting very harsh and aggressive towards Gwen. However, he was convinced that he needed to be this way after letting fame get to his head and Aggregor nearly taking over the universe. Gwen was ultimately proven right and Kevin was able to stop himself from killing her, but Ben didn’t see that due to being knocked out and the next time he saw Kevin, he was trying to kill Alan, making his anger a lot more reasonable. If you don’t like how he acted during this arc, that’s fine, but it wasn’t out of a jealous bloodlust or sociopathy but understandable feelings of betrayal and blaming himself for not being able to stop Aggregor. By the time of OV, Ben has learned this lesson and accepts he can’t beat himself up over failure when he forgives himself for losing feedback, all he can do is try and move forward and be the best hero he can. His whole arc in Ultimate Alien was accepting he can’t be in control. He stopped himself from killing Kevin, accepted having to die to free the Ultimates and gave up the power of Dagon after being tempted to remake the universe in his image.

An alternate version of the Kevin and Gwen confrontation at the start of All That Glitters, technically, with a strong focus on Kevin, his ongoing issues, and a lack of shipping.

To call Kevin stressed would have been an understatement. He’d spent most of his life learning to keep such weakness under wraps, avoid being anymore of a target than he already was, but that didn’t change the facts.

There was an invasion going on.

He was dealing with the Tennysons.

He’d been farmed for materials again.

Because Argit had stabbed him in the back.

He’d missed out on a payday he’d been counting on and lost potential future business in the process.

He had a mortgage and two rent payments to make, with hero stuff already cutting into his work time.

How could he not have had his eyes on Gwen?

Kevin had no clue what she was besides a massive amount of energy packed into a small space that he couldn’t avoid, but that was really all that mattered. Well, not all that mattered, but a good seventy, eighty percent of what was thrumming under his skin cared about. He’d been on the wagon for… At least since the last time he and Argit had been forced to do without. Sure, there hadn’t been options there, and it was so much easier to just grab a charge from a wall when it meant more of the scraps they’d managed could go to the one without that option, but he’d been good otherwise. Or trying at least.

But that didn’t make his addiction go away. Didn’t stop the allure of power, of steady sustenance, of the comforting effects of the added energy flowing through him, from calling in times like this. When the world was weighing on him, when danger was around the corner, when it would be so easy, when he couldn’t walk away from the temptation. There was nothing he wanted more than to grab a project to work on, drive into the desert, and stay there working until the urge had subsided. Let the comfort of metal doing as he wanted beneath his fingers distract him.

Because otherwise he wasn’t sure he wouldn’t just eat her.

It wouldn’t even have been the first time he’d done it- things got desperate in the Null Void. But that wasn’t who he wanted to be, he put in so much work to avoid it. Doing everything he could not to stare. Not to plot. Not to move that little bit closer. Just take a quick taste, the edge off, especially after Vulkanus-

But that wasn’t the sort of thing you mentioned aloud. Especially not to the target’s face. Definitely not when they were demanding to know why you weren’t asking them out. Because you kept staring. Because you kept almost reaching out. Because you flirted with them that one time.

(He’d been thinking about the invasion, about how he was making rent, how he’d missed dinner, that fact Ben was right there. If he’d just gotten her to come that little bit closer, he’d have maybe been able to get a quick draw before they noticed-)

And there she was, staring him down. Arms crossed, wanting something he was hardly feeling, that was far too dangerous to allow even if he had been. Over the course of heartbeats Kevin wracked his brain, gunning for something to say that would fix the problem, keep his weaknesses to himself, the reminder of who and what he was to himself. Options flickered passed until one fell out of his mouth.

hi hi hi! are there are gwevin moments you would change or do differently? like a 'what if' kind of situation?

I'm not sure about changing their moments, even though their relationship was very rushed, I love how silly they looked and the constant flirting and I don't know if I really would like to change it, especially on Gwen's side, that scene where Gwen laughs when Kevin puts straws up his nose or when she puts away his dirty tissue, god she's so in love it makes her look ridiculous <3 Kevin is her first big crush

but on the other hand, sometimes I think what if Kevin hadn't joined the team immediately, he didn't really have a reason to stay with them, from Kevin's perspective the Tennyson family ruined his life. So at the end of chapter 2 from alien force kevin simply leaves or disappears at some point.

sooo Gwen tries to meet with Kevin, she somehow manages to find him (without Ben finding out) and tries to talk to him, at first it is very difficult, there could even be a small fight. I have this doodle where they are supposed to be struggling :p

Gwen does it wearing her lucky girl outfit, I like the idea that whenever she does something on her own she wears it :) just like when she went to Charmcaster and Hex's house Kevin has never seen her in that suit so I think it's kind of funny that when Kevin sees her he doesn't immediately recognize her pfff also when they are a team Kevin will make her remember that and she will get upset and nudge him Gwen knows that Kevin has information (like the hologram that Vulkanus had) but while trying to obtain that information she begins to feel interest in him (they are not romantic feelings, but interest in his story ), and these would be the foundations of their relationship. Then Gwen suggests that he help them and work together (Or maybe keep Kevin as an enemy for a while????)

Omniverse - Another crazy Spider-Verse crossover idea I had, this time based on Ben 10

Yep, I had this idea floating around in my head for quite a bit today, in part thanks to reading up plenty about Ben 10 on the TV Tropes wiki. It got me imagining; what if we had another Spider-Verse-esque crossover, but involving the universe of Ben 10 instead?

I mean, the premise of alternate realities and timelines has been explored quite a bit in the many iterations of the franchise (like Gwen getting the Omnitrix instead of Ben or Ben's other alternate counterparts), and it got me imagining a cast line-up for the concept. The ones I thought up for the story are as follows:

The Omnitrix is the swap-in for the radioactive spider here, and whoever finds it is the one (in)voluntarily assigned to help protect the universe from all sorts of threats, whether they wish to or not, sending their life from ordinary to extraordinary fast.

I picked Julie specifically for the role of Spider-Gwen, considering how she lost her overall touch in the series after Omniverse (and kinda because I personally shipped Ben and Julie as a kid, even with their rough spots), hence why I felt she and Alan would make a good fit for each other due to similar insecurities.

I had been thinking carefully about the roles to assign to each character I could. I originally intended Ben 23 to be the swap-in for Spider-Ham, but considering how full of himself he was before Omniverse Ben/Ben Prime came along (which is why he's in Reilly's place), I felt Reboot Ben 10, whose world is less serious than the others, could fit the role better, whilst also inheriting sympathetic traits like relating to losing someone close.

The Classic Cartoon Ben 10 isn't from the ORIGINAL storyline, but rather one based on classic cartoons from the 60s and 70s, just to avoid confusion there. Lucy Mann's genki girl approach, for one, made her a perfect fit for Peni's role here, too.

And considering Jimmy Jones is a big fan of Ben 10 in canon (and was respected for it in Ultimate Alien), I felt the naïve newcomer status could work for an alternate universe version of him from India. And as Ultimate Ben 10,000 is pretty much on top of his game (alongside being less likely to steer towards canon), he fits well for Hobie's role.

The evil reboot Ben 10, I felt, fits well for the role of Miguel, since he lost his Gwen and Max when they tried to save him, which led him down a darker path in life and required FIVE Omnitrix users to take him down. Likewise, I thought a Gwen variant of Glitch to go with him (which fits well with her sass in the series proper) fits Lyla's role as a digital assistant to a futuristic hero.

Since the four Plumbers' Helpers are of similar age, I felt that Pierce and Helen are Alan's legal guardians in Bellwood, alongside both assisting the Plumbers in protecting Earth. Manny, who has Aaron's role, is the most hot-headed of the four, but has a good heart deep down.

The reason for Alan having to inherit his Ben's role is through inheriting his Omnitrix after Ben gives him the responsibility to protect his world for him, and his compatibility with it came from the other dimension thanks to the experiments Phil's scientists were doing. As for the whole hair-sticking incident, Julie's hair was longer (as far down as her waist) before the accident, and at present, it's as long as in canon.

Max being the badass old man, no matter what universe, comes with the territory anyway, same with him being tech-savvy, which allows him to help Alan adjust to being the new hero. Kai is also commonly the girl Ben ultimately ends up marrying between universes, and JT being Alan's roomie contributes to him being the more chill between him and Cash (the glasses are a plus, too).

I also thought carefully about the rogues gallery between stories from throughout Ben 10's history, like having a female counterpart to Dr. Animo, or Ssserpent being the random villain Alan has to quickly deal with on his way back home with a cake, due to the villain's butt-monkey status in his first two appearances (he got better on the third).

Zs'Sakyr, I felt, was the best counterpart to represent The Lizard in Omniverse, since he's Ghostfreak's true self who tried possessing Ben and gaining full power over the Omnitrix. And I've kept up with the theme of altering art styles for the AU version of Master Kundo (like how Vulture was from the Renaissance, Green Impostor (Funkinverse) was from a sketchbook, and Snively (from my work, IAB!) was from a cell-shaded world).

Albedo, I thought, would be the best option available for a swap-in for Ohnn, as he became villainous through making a fake Omnitrix that made him a direct doppelganger of Ben (until a bioenergy feedback caused his appearance to shift), and since he fell into D-List villain territory, I felt he could have the biggest voyage to become an arch-enemy that Alan CAN'T ignore in general.

Here are some episode titles for Ben 10: intergalactic adventures.

Corrodium conundrum. Ben and the others encounter the mummy, the very same one he fought when he was 10 years old. He was using Corrodium to mutate people and animals to attack innocent people in the vicinity!

A howling ambush. Ben and the others encounter the werewolf, the very same one he fought when he was 10 around the time he first met Kai, his one true love.

Slix Vigma strikes again. Ben and the others were abducted by Slix Vigma and brought onto his ship known as the Megacruiser, where he takes aliens from other planets and makes them battle to the death and never lets them escape. He even puts shock collars on them too. Will they all work together to stop Slix Vigma and escape his ship?

Double Detrovite trouble. Ben was excited because his pal Technorg was coming to visit, but he’s getting into a fight with Vulkanus.

Ssserpent slithers away. Our heroes encounter a snake alien called Ssserpent, the snake that walks like a man. He was on the attack, blinding people with his snake venom.

A Galvan double date. Driba & Blukic were excited for their double date with Luhley and her cousin Duffy. But the Megawatts from Sparksville escaped from the giant light bulb and were on the loose, making mischief everywhere they go!

New aliens galore! Ben is very excited because he’s unlocked a bunch of brand new aliens in his Omnitrix.

Ben 23’s visit. Ben’s alternative counterpart from dimension 23 was brought to visit us thanks to parallel world Azmuth.

The Bad Ben Tennyson. An alternate Ben Tennyson called bad Ben came and he’s causing trouble.

Mad Ben’s escape from Benwood. Mad Ben came to cause trouble with his aliens from his power watch and Mad Rook volunteers to help our heroes catch him.

Bizarre Benzarro. Benzarro came to scare kids and wreak havoc.

Dr Animo finishes building her Transmodulator.

Gwen meets and fights her for the first time. Dr Animo is unsuccessful, but flees.

Sunday, 6th - Twin Falls (Idaho)

Gwen fights Charmcaster for the first time.

Charmcaster wants to steal the Staff of Ages, and Gwen fights her.

Charmcaster is unable to use the Staff, but still fights Gwen off and flees with it.

Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th - Salt Lake City (Utah)

Gwen and Ben meet Kevin.

Kevin is defeated, but absorbs energy from the Omnitrix for the first time.

Gwen notices some kind of outside influence on her personality for the first time.

Monday, 14th - Casper (WY)

Rojo fought for the first time. Max injured, Rojo fuses with Vilgax drone and goes after the Omnitrix for him.

Gwen contacted by Vilgax for the first time and learns his name. Neither know what the other looks like.

Gwen starts being more careful when fighting enemies.

Thursday, 17th - Bismarck (ND)

Gwen questions Max on his knowledge and behavior, and he decides to tell her and Ben the truth about the Plumbers after learning it's Vilgax who's after them.

Dr Animo examines the remains from the drone that attached to Rojo to power up her technology and is contacted by Vilgax, who offers her more technology in exchange for her services.

Gwen defeats Animo, but she manages to escape again.

Friday, 18th - Around Timber Lake (SD)

Vilgax sends the bounty hunters SixSix, Kraab and Vulkanus after the Omnitrix.

Tetrax learns Gwen has the Omnitrix. Later she introduces herself and helps Gwen fight and defeat the bounty hunters.

Tetrax gifts Gwen the hoverboard and leaves to find the creator of the Omnitrix.

Saturday, 19th - Pierre (SD)

Gwen catches a cold from Ben, learns the virus infects her alien forms too.

The trio fights Clancy, an insect controlling mutant.

Clancy is defeated and arrested.

Gwen notices she heals much faster from injuries and disease than normal, figures it's because of the Omnitrix.

Monday, 21st - Sioux Falls (SD)

Vilgax sends a swarm of drones after Gwen.

Gwen is almost defeated and feels overwhelmed.

She transforms into Ghostfreak and blacks out. When she wakes up, finds out she brutally destroyed all drones. Even Grandpa Max and Ben look shaken by what they saw.

Gwen decides not to use Ghostfreak again.

Wednesday, 23rd to Friday, 25th - Minnehaha Park (MN)

Hex and Charmcaster start the ritual to conjure the Charms of Bezel. They're successful.

The trio defeats them when Ben manages to snatch and use the Staff of Ages for a bit. Ben unknowingly absorbs some magic energy from it.

The trio stash the staff at a nearby Plumber base and take the Charms of Bezel with them to put in another base to keep them safe and away from each other.

Sunday, 27th to Wednesday, 30th - Green Bay (WI)

Max takes the kids to a fishing trip. They learn about the local Krakken legend.

Max figures it must be an alien, so they help it when they notice it being attacked by mercenaries.

The trio defeat the mercenaries and watch as the Krakken takes its eggs to the bottom of the lake.

2010, July

Saturday, 3rd to Monday, 5th - Detroit (MI)

The trio arrive in Detroit, where they find aliens committing crimes.

When they investigate, Gwen finds out it's Kevin, using energy absorbed from the Omnitrix to mutate his body. They fight through the city, being followed by a special task force.

During the fight, Kevin reaches his power limit and mutates into an amalgam form. He's shot by the task force soldiers and disappears. Gwen flees the scene.

Wednesday, 7th - Columbus (OH)

Max stops at a Plumber base to store the Charms of Bezel they had been carrying.

Charmcaster attacks them. She had broken into the Plumber base where they stashed the Staff of Ages and got it back. She gets the Charms and vanishes, but Ben manages to grab her spell book.

As they're at a base, Max stocks up on Plumber gear, including suits, weapons and a Null Void projector.

Thursday, 8th to Friday, 9th - Pittsburgh (PA)

During a show at a circus, Gwen fights the Circus Freaks and easily beats them. Zombozo appears and suddenly Gwen feels too weak to fight and is defeated by him.

After that, she finds out that Zombozo steals life energy from people and stores the excess in a machine for later use. Gwen goes after him and defeats him.

When the machine breaks, all the life energy released allows Ghostfreak to escape the Omnitrix. He threatens Gwen, but then flees. The 10 form playlist limit is overridden and the Omnitrix starts a replacement sequence for Ghostfreak's lost DNA.

Sunday, 11th to Tuesday, 13th - Hudson River Valley (NY)

The replacement sequence is completed and Gwen transforms into an Arburian Pelarota for the first time.

The Great One arrives on Earth, followed by the Galactic Enforcers, who have been trying to stop him and his acolytes.

After the trio and the Enforcers are unable to stop the Great One, Gwen tries her new form and, with help from the Enforcers, destroys the parasite. Gwen becomes an honorary Enforcer.

Wednesday, 14th - New York City (NY)

Clancy goes on a rampage across New York. The trio chases him to a lab.

At the lab, Dr Animo uses her technology to further mutate Clancy and flees while he attacks the trio.

Clancy is defeated, and the task force that shot Kevin appears to apprehend him as the trio sneaks out.

Thursday, 15th

Vilgax takes his ship to Mt Rushmore and sends a transmission through all Plumber networks threatening to level the state if the Omnitrix bearer doesn't give themselves up.

The trio take a Plumber ship loaded with equipment and head to Mt Rushmore to face Vilgax.

Friday, 16th to Saturday, 17th - Mt Rushmore (SD)

The trio arrive to face Vilgax and run into Phil, Max's old partner, who saw Vilgax's transmission and decided to try and do something.

They're all unable to defeat Vilgax, so Max and Phil decide to send him to the Null Void. They almost fail, but Phil sacrifices himself to force Vilgax into the portal.

Vilgax's ship self destructs, and the energy released from the explosion unlocks new forms on the Omnitrix, but locks its transform function.

Sunday, 18th to Thursday, 22nd - Off-world

Tetrax contacts Gwen saying she found a lead on whoever created the Omnitrix. Gwen mentions the Omnitrix is locked, so she goes back to Earth to take Gwen to find the Creator. Ben goes with them. At Tetrax's ship, they meet Gluto.

They end up finding Myaxx at Incarcecon. She partially restores the Omnitrix, and then takes them to Xenon.

There, they find an exiled Azmuth. After some convincing and an all out attack by Vilgax's forces, now commanded by his first in command Psyphon, Azmuth restores the Omnitrix and unlocks new functions: extended transformation time and manual time-out, as well as a new form: a To'kustar.

Vilgax's forces are defeated. Gwen and Ben are taken back to Earth, and Myaxx stays with Tetrax and Gluto. Azmuth leaves Xenon.

Friday, 23rd to Saturday, 24th - Nashville (TN)

Back on Earth, Tetrax takes the trio and the Rustbucket to their next road trip stop and leaves.

There, a Nosedeenian is terrorizing a local neighborhood, so the trio fights them.

After they trap the alien, the Omnitrix glows yellow and scans the Nosedeenian DNA, unlocking its transformation.

Monday, 26th to Tuesday, 27th - Atlanta (GA)

Kevin starts working with Dr Animo to try and revert back to his human form. Dr Animo is actually using Kevin, sampling his mutated DNA to further her Transmodulator technology.

Animo creates earthling/alien hybrids for the first time. Gwen discovers the Omnitrix can restore DNA and reverse the mutations. She tries it on Kevin, but is unsuccessful.

The trio fights and defeats them. Dr Animo is arrested, and Kevin is sent to the Null Void.

Thursday, 29th to Friday, 30th - Jacksonville (FL)

The trio finds out aliens called the Limax are being controlled by the Forever Knights, impersonating powerful public figures all around the world.

They fight and defeat the local Limax cell, but figure the problem runs too deep for them to be able to do anything about it.

The Forever Knights start watching the Tennysons more closely.

Monday, 2nd - Montgomery (AL)

Sublimino is controlling the town and making people gather, assemble and ship parts elsewhere.

Gwen fights and defeats him. He seems more afraid for having failed than of Gwen or being arrested.

Wednesday, 4th to Thursday, 5th - New Orleans (LA)

Max meets his old friend, Wes Green. He's taking his granddaughter Kai to hunt a werewolf that's rumored to be roaming the area. The Tennysons join them.

They find out that the werewolf and an alien mummy are gathering corrodium from the local swamps. Before they can defeat the aliens, a portal appears and they vanish.

Max tracks the most likely location where the portal took them. Wes and Kai go back home, but Ben and Kai decide to keep in touch.

Friday, 6th - Route 49 (LA)

On the way to the portal destination, Rojo appears and attacks the Rustbucket. Now she's using alien technology for her new armor and weapons.

She's defeated and her equipment is destroyed. Gwen learns there's a whole black market network for alien technology on Earth.

Monday, 9th to Tuesday, 10th - Dallas (TX)

The trio finds Charmcaster and a man called Dr Viktor building a large machine where the portal took the wolf and the mummy. Dr Viktor reveals himself to be an alien, and the Omnitrix scans his DNA.

During the fight, Charmcaster turns on Viktor and subdues him. She explains that she helped Hex on the beginning because she thought they were doing something good, but then she saw that his real plan would only cause death and destruction, but he is too powerful for her to defy him alone. Hex appears and teleports Viktor and the machine away, then vanishes, ignoring Charmcaster.

Charmcaster offers to take the trio with her to fight her uncle, as the four of them have a chance to defeat him.

Tuesday, 10th to Wednesday, 11th - Oklahoma City (OK)

At Hex's lair, the trio finds out that Hex was working with Zs'Skayr all along, and they were using the werewolf, the mummy and Dr Viktor to build a machine that would merge Earth with LedgerDomain, making both Hex and Zs'Skayr all powerful and allowing them to rule over all.

Gwen and Charmcaster fight Hex, now merged with Zs'Skayr. Ben and Max fight the monsters. Ben taps into his magic aura and damages the machine. The energy wave released vaporizes Hex along with Zs'Skayr, and pulls the werewolf and the mummy to LedgerDomain. Viktor escapes.

Charmcaster jumps into the portal before it closes and the machine explodes. Gwen notices the Omnitrix had resampled Zs'Skayr's DNA when she wasn't paying attention.

Saturday, 14th to Sunday, 15th - Around Laredo (TX)

Max follows a warning on his Plumber computer saying the Mask of Ah Puch, key to finding the Sword of Ek Chuaj, has been found.

They get the mask, and follow its directions to some Mayan ruins. There, the Forever Knights, lead by Enoch, subdue and take them into the temple with the mask. They find the Sword, but Ah Puch manifests and attacks. During the fight, the Sword is destroyed, causing Ah Puch to vanish and the temple to collapse.

The Tennysons barely escape the ruins, but are taken by the Forever Knights on their way out.

Monday, 16th to Tuesday, 17th - Bishop's Palace Castle (Houston, TX)

The trio are imprisoned by the Knights. The Forever King introduces himself, and sounds like he knows Max. He orders the scientists to take Gwen and remove the Omnitrix from her.

After the King leaves, the trio fights their way out of the castle, causing it to explode on the process. Before that, they find the Rustbucket and escape.

Friday, 20th to Saturday, 21st - Amarillo (TX)

Max gets a warning of an anomaly inside the Null Void. He decides to investigate, and Gwen and Ben convince him to take them with him.

Inside, they discover the dimension actually has some areas inhabited by normal people. Talking to the locals, they find out the anomaly detected was Vilgax somehow escaping the Null Void. On their way out, then they run into Kevin.

He attacks them, but Gwen tries restoring his DNA with the Omnitrix again, and this time, she's successful. Kevin goes back to his human form.

Confused by the process, Kevin flees before Gwen can talk to him. The trio leaves the Null Void.

Sunday, 22nd to Tuesday, 23rd - Santa Fe (NM)

Xylene appears and tries to take the Omnitrix from Gwen. Max comes to help Gwen and they recognize each other. Max introduces Xylene to Gwen and Ben, and invites her to spend some time with them.

During the time they spend together, they catch up and Xylene explains how the Omnitrix reached Earth. Max tells her Vilgax escaped the Null Void and is still out there.

They're attacked by a prototype Vilgax drone, but destroy it. The drone briefly shows a transmission showing Vilgax talking about exacting revenge on the Tennysons and finally getting the Omnitrix. Xylene decides to leave to gather allies for the upcoming battle against Vilgax, and promises to return.

Wednesday, 25th to Thursday, 26th - Phoenix (AZ)

Max is contacted by an old friend who tells him his grandson Cooper was kidnapped. As Max's friend is too old and bedridden, Max agrees to track him. Their leads take them to a Forever Knights base.

There, Dr Animo has teamed up with the Knights and is using Cooper's abilities to build weapons and equipment to them. Animo is so obsessed with Gwen and the Omnitrix that she drops everything to fight her. The Knights order Animo to obey and threaten her, so she makes Cooper upload a document with evidence exposing the Knights to the whole world. The Knights fall back.

Gwen defeats Animo and she's arrested. The trio take Cooper back to his family, but after learning of their upcoming battle against Vilgax, he offers to help.

Friday, 27th to Monday, 30th - Area 51 (NV)

The Tennysons gather their allies to fight Vilgax. Cooper is there, helping from the sidelines. Xylene arrives with the Galactic Enforcers, as well as some Plumbers that had left Earth but owed her favors. Tetrax arrives with Gluto, Myaxx and Azmuth.

Vilgax arrives with his army of drones and other villains that either joined him or were coerced: SixSix, Kraab, Vulkanus, Rojo, Dr Animo, Dr Viktor and the Circus Freaks.

They all engage in a huge battle that ends with Max and Ben ripping Vilgax's cybernetics apart and Gwen dealing the final blow, finally defeating and almost killing him.

The battle is so big that it appears all over the news, with Gwen's identity and the existence of aliens finally being made public to the whole country.

Aftermath

After the Forever Knights seemingly disband and their grip on the world's governments ends, the Plumbers are reinstated on Earth and return to their activities.

Max takes Gwen and Ben home, as their summer break is about to end.

Xylene is badly injured in the battle, so she's taken to a Plumber medical facility to recover. Max leaves to be with her until she's fully healed. They become a couple again. Max is chosen to oversee the reinstatement of the Plumbers.

What's left of Vilgax is taken by the Plumbers. Even completely disabled, he's kept in their most secure prison.

Of the villains that fought under Vilgax: Rojo was badly injured and arrested by the Plumbers. Dr Animo is nowhere to be found after the battle. SixSix dies. Kraab is mostly destroyed and his remains are confiscated by the Plumbers. Vulkanus is badly injured, but escapes. The Circus freaks are arrested by the Plumbers. Dr Viktor is MIA.

Myaxx is injured and has to be taken to a Plumber medical facility to recover. Tetrax goes and stays with her until she's fully healed.

Ben decides he wants to be a Plumber when he's old enough. But for now, he has to go back to school and his "normal life". He starts reading and studying more about magic and developing his magical abilities.

Gwen is really shaken by what she had to do to Vilgax, so after a year or so, when the Plumbers are fully back to work, she decides to leave the hero life and stops using the Omnitrix, which enters a dormant state. People are quick to forget about her after she stops appearing in the news.

Azmuth decides to end his exile and go back to Galvan Prime. He becomes an advisor for the new Plumbers as they branch out to keep the peace across the entire galaxy.

MIKELANĐELOVA LAŽ Igor Bergler

Svi mi koji volimo da čitamo knjige smo se nekada opekli. Nekada su nam loše preporučili knjigu, nekada su nam neodgovarajuću knjigu kupili za poklon, a nekada se sami zajebemo i kupimo neko smeće koje nam se činilo obećavajuće, a onda provedemo mesec dana čitajući knjigu koju bismo, da je iole valjala, pročitali za maksimalno nedelju dana.

Mikelanđelova laž Igora Berglera bio je taj tip košmara za mene.

Da se razumemo, želela sam da mi se svidi knjiga, zaista jesam. Trebalo mi je nešto a la Da Vinčijev kod da mi malo razbije monotoniju dana koje posao ubija, trebalo mi je nešto brzo, zabavno, nešto što me neće ubijati u pojam, ali mi neće ni biti žao vremena koje sam provela čitajući tu knjigu. U Vulkanu je Mikelanđelova laž bila na akciji i pošto mi se svideo sinopsis (a priznajem, i naslovna strana), jer jako volim teorije zavere vezane za Vatikan, mislila sam da sam sigurno ubola.

Malo više od mesec dana posle, volela bih da mogu da se vratim kroz vreme i vrisnem sebi u uvo da nikako ne uzimam ovu knjigu.

Sama priča i nije počela toliko loše. Američki profesor Čarls Bejker odlazi u Italiju da se upozna sa familijom koju do skoro nije znao da ima, i biva uvučen u haos koji nastaje zbog ubistava vatikanskih sveštenika. Dosta toga od starta je referencama vezano za prethodne knjige (pogotovu Abrahamov testament), što mi jeste smetalo, ali nisam krivila nikoga do sebe, jer nisam istražila bolje stvaralaštvo rumunskog pisca i nisam znala da postoji redosled kojim treba čitati knjige. Drugo nešto mu, pak, jesam zamerila.

Jedna od stvari koju zaista ne podnosim je taj sveznajući istraživač/detektiv/šta već u ovakvim trilerima. Nešto poput Fandorina Borisa Akunjina ili Pendergasta Prestona i Čajlda. Tipovi likova koji bi, kada biste im dali ižvakanu žvaku sa nekog sporednog puta u nekom pizdincu, odmah znali da vam kažu koja je žvaka, kad je napravljena, koliko ljudi je žvakalo, u kakvom su im stanju zubi, da li imaju istoriju neke konkretne bolesti u porodici, koliko kola je prešlo preko nje, koje gorivo su koristili, kada su poslednji put jeli i šta. Taj tip lika koji zna apsolutno sve o svemu. Zaista, zaista, ZAISTA ne podnosim takve likove (čak ni Grisom nije znao sve, aman!). Čarls Bejker jeste jedan od tih likova, možda i najgori od svih na koje sam naišla do sada, jer Fandorin i Pendergast bar imaju nekog šarma, dat im je prostor da budu još nešto osim poludimenzionalne nadobudne sveznalice koja bolje od Italijana zna sve o Sikstinskoj kapeli i katoličanstvu, i koja misli da Italijanka rođena u Italiji ne zna latinski.

Upravo tu leži neoprostivi greh ovog romana: užasno (ne)razvijeni likovi. U Vatikanu se dešavaju užasna ubistva, priča se vrti oko sekti, tajnih biblioteka, pedofilije, Mikelanđela, sukoba između Isusovog verskog i istorijskog profila, i sve to pada u vodu zbog likova. Apsolutno svi su nedovoljno razvijeni, nesimpatični, neharizmatični, kao zgažena mokra maramica na asfaltu. Dobar deo romana zapravo počiva na razgovorima koje Bejker (vrlo nemaštovito prezime by the way) vodi sa dvojicom braće o Isusu i istoriji hrišćanstva tokom večera. To što se radnja često odvija na jednom istom mestu nije nikakav problem. Konklava Roberta Harisa se dečava u jednom kompleksu sve vreme, u par prostorija samo, što ni na koji način nije sprečilo ovu knjigu da mi se svidi i da je često preporučujem. Dakle, postavka nije problem. Pitanje koje mi se nametalo tokom dobrog dela knjige bilo je, zašto Igor Bergler prosto nije napravio zbornik radova na temu Isusa i autentičnosti njegove ličnosti u istoriji i lika u hrišćanskim kanonima? Sama tema jeste izuzetno zanimljiva (bar jeste meni), ali način na koji nam je sve to bilo servirano u ovom romanu bilo je vrlo nedopadljivo. Bedne replike, neduhovite razmene, zbrzani momenti istrage ispunjeni nedoslednostima i nelogičnostima koje su bole oči (kako to mislite da žrtva nije temeljno pregledana nakon što je odneta u mrtvačnicu, pa je tek pošto je sveznajući Bejker to naredio obrađen leš na kome je, gle čuda, iza uveta nađena tetovaža? ili je to zapravo normalno i ja sam ta koja greši, jer svoje viđenje istrage zasnivam na godinama gledanja CSI serija?) Razmišljala sam u jednom trenutku koji lik mi je antipatičniji, Bejker Berglerov ili Hanter Krisa Kartera, još jedan apsolutno sveznajući lik na koga se dodatno lože sve žene ispod 60 godina koje se nađu u njegovoj blizini. Razlika u tome je što su knjige Krisa Kartera građene oko njegovog lika, ma koliko nesimpatičan bio i ma koliko se pisac očigledno identifikaovao sa njim (Hanter je zapravo projekcija Karterovih ličnih želja, onako kako želi da ga drugi vide), dok je Čarls samo narator koji je Bergleru potreban da bi nam ispričao šta je čitao i šta je pronašao u knjigama koje je čitao.

Prosto i jednostavno, Igor Bergler napisao je (jedva) osrednji roman da bi nam ispričao zanimljivu priču koju je upropastila (jedva) osrednjost njegovog romana i nedostatak karaktera njegovih likova. On nije hteo da napravi priču, već prosto da nam ispriča šta je saznao. Moga je to i bez Bejkera.

So, I triggered a Very Big Post from Angelo and for some reason reading through it my brain kept going to a topic I’ve only hit on like once in a drabble I think but deserves it own post, regarding a Kevin Headcanon.

We all know he has an unhealthy everything. We’ve all seen the boy, he needs a safe place to rest, steady access to food, a nice long nap, and some serious fucking therapy. Well we’re hitting on a specific point here.

Kevin has a unhealthy relationship with his own anger.

Again, we’ve all seen him. Kevin is an angry person (which makes sense, look at his life) with a quick temper and violent impulses. At one point we see him ready and willing to turn another car and it’s occupants into a pile of burning rubble for going slow on an empty road. We know from that same scene that he’s taken anger management courses, though what kind and how effective they were we don’t know. He’s generally the first on the team to go the aggressive route, and repeatedly does so rashly.

But, we also see points where he would be within his rights to get angry and he simply doesn’t, or brushes it off. A big one being when Vulkanus uses him for materials, where he not only lets him walk away but also keep the taedonite he mined off him. Or after Gwen drops him from near the ceiling of a mine during an argument, only for him to later brush off her apology for not listening to him and not even mention the dropped from the ceiling portion of the altercation. Moments where he’s been done wrong and it would well within his rights to get reasonably pissed, but he doesn’t really.

The immediate assumption would be that this is proof the anger management course worked, except the shit with Vulkanus happens before we hear about any anger management, and we hear about it in tandem with, again, Kevin about to launch missiles at another car.

So, alternate theory- Kevin doesn’t so much curb the worst of his temper as he just shoves it into a little box.

It makes sense given his history (how many times do we see his temper serve him well? tends to be shown just fucking shit up), would explain why Kevin ‘I went to beat a kid up for messing with my car’ Levin would just let some objectively worse shit go, and why some of the times we see a real flare of his temper the response is so out of proportion. Such as, say, nearly blowing up another driver, or during the Ultimate Kevin arc when his rampage includes shit like putting a guy in traction over under $10.

Because anger tends to be viewed as a ‘bad’ emotion, but it’s just as neutral as any other and needs to be managed properly. Not having control of your anger is bad and can cause a lot of problems, but repressing it is also an issue. One that can lead to things like blowing up when you finally let loose. In Kevin’s case near literally. Eventually you’re going to hit a wall and that anger is going to go somewhere. Which is why proper anger management involves learning methods of acknowledging and releasing your anger in a healthy way, while shoddier ones can just worsen things like repression.

It also feeds nicely into my things involving Kevin’s very blatant self worth issues and how they make him an easy target for people looking to take advantage of him or who just aren’t treating him right. Because part of the use of anger is to protect yourself, and when you’ve got a history of your anger only making things worse (and it would just get worse as you try to repress and then blow up and form a whole nasty cycle) and issues with your self worth and whether you deserve whatever is done to you, well. Suddenly you can’t let yourself be angry, and when you do there’s a higher chance of you going overboard or hurting someone (including yourself).

Very not healthy, which really just fits with the boy.
