sharing parts of this article ( interview with liu xiaoshi ) about the character of Lei Yu and some production stories about Yibo during the shoot of Born to Fly ✈️
keeping things under the cut, very mild spoilers but just to be safe.
Tumblr media
On the day Yibo was finished, I was filming on the spot, and other young actors went to say goodbye to him. he greeted everyone in the car, and everyone watched until his car completely disappeared.
THE CHARACTER - LEI YU
Lei Yu, played by Wang Yibo in the film, is different from the image of a soldier in many of our traditional film and television dramas. First of all, he has a good family, a good educational background and foreign language proficiency, and there are many other life path choices besides joining the army. Secondly, he seems to be a young man with a wide range of hobbies, who can surf, listen to music, understand machinery, make drawings, and put together a small building block model of his code name Shook, and is an attractive young man.
Liu Xiaoshi said that they really met a test pilot like Lei Yu during the interview——
The young test pilot finished graduate school, and his family is in the south. His father owns a factory, and his family conditions are very good. As an only child, the family gave him two choices, one is to go home to inherit his father’s career, and the other is to study abroad, but he still has the dream of being a pilot. He bought a lot of aviation magazines since he was a child, and even installed a professional flight kit in the dormitory.
Later, he really signed up to be a pilot, and his traditional-minded father was so angry that he severed the father-son relationship with him, and he had no contact with him until several years before his child was born. After many years, the father and son began to understand each other slowly. Once they finally sat down to eat together, and the news broadcast was TV, and neither of them spoke. When the weather forecast was broadcast, his father suddenly said, fly if you want, and pay attention to the weather. This sentence was also written into the lines of "The King of the Sky" by the creators.
Lei Yu has a complete growth arc
Wang Yibo said frankly that work pressure is digested by himself, and the bridge between him and the role is opened
"I'm very interested in growth themes," said director Liu Xiaoshi.
Lei Yu, the protagonist of "The King of the Sky", is not a perfect character. He has his own shortcomings. In the film, he experienced three major dangers, and formed a complete growth arc in the process.
"Lei Yu has the talent to be a pilot. He is very young, very idealistic, and his family background is good. He has been excellent since he was a child, so while he is confident, he also has a little pride.
At the beginning of the movie, he showed his excellent flying ability, so he was appreciated and invited by Team Zhang. He was originally only interested in front-line combat, but when he heard that being a test pilot had the opportunity to be the first to fly a stealth fighter, he was tempted. This temptation attracted him more than any conditions.
Tumblr media
But after going there, he was very disappointed and unwilling to fly as a stealth fighter for the first time. There is a healthy competitive relationship between him and Deng Fang. They work hard for a common goal. They are not only the best opponents, but also the best comrades in arms. "
In the team, Lei Yu's code name is "Shu Ke". This is a well-known name in Zheng Yuanjie's fairy tales, and it is also the real code name of a certain air force unit in the past. Before the filming started, the main creator obtained the consent of Zheng Yuanjie himself. Zheng Yuanjie had served in the Air Force, and when he learned that he wanted to use this code name for the character played by Wang Yibo, Zheng Yuanjie said that this is the honor of Shu Ke, who originally belonged to the Chinese Air Force.
The director believes that the code name "Shook" can form an interesting contrast with the test pilot. Just like Lei Yu and his actor Wang Yibo, although they look cool and sunny, they are actually very shy people.
On the emotional line between Lei Yu and Shen Tianran (played by Zhou Dongyu), the director's approach is very subtle and restrained. "Many soldiers are like this. For example, if I like someone, I will bury it in my heart and express it more with actions."
STORIES ABOUT YIBO DURING FILMING
In the original release plan, "Born To Fly" may be his first big-screen debut in theaters. Wang Yibo attaches great importance to this role. "He hopes to satisfy the audience's expectations for this role in all dimensions." Looking forward to it," said the director.
According to director Liu Xiaoshi, the main creator has done a lot of experiments on Lei Yu's hairstyle and skin texture to get rid of his handsome idol aura and make him look like an ordinary soldier. His skin has been processed to be more grainy, and his hairstyle has been stripped of all personalization.
"Yibo will think clearly about every scene before the performance. Because I have to edit the film, I sleep late every day when shooting, and he has been taking notes, preparing, and analyzing the characters, often in the middle of the night. Send me a message or call me at two o'clock to discuss his understanding of the characters, and he has put forward his own ideas in almost every scene in the film."
Liu Xiaoshi is the kind of director who doesn't like to tell the actors how to act in every detail. He prefers to discover the commonalities between the characters and the actors and build a bridge between them, so as to inspire the actors to find emotional support when performing.
For example, in the scene where his parents came to visit the injured Lei Yu, Liu Xiaoshi said to Wang Yibo: You went abroad to study, dance, and act when you were young, and you must have encountered incomprehension from family and friends, and made painful choices... Wang Yibo also talking to the director, he did have a lot of pressure in study and work, but he would not tell his family, he digested it all by himself.
During the filming, when his father walked to the corner with the suitcase, Wang Yibo's tears fell from his eyes. At that moment, he was Lei Yu.
"I didn't ask him to shed tears in this scene. It was his own emotions that were there, and he would have a very real expression." Director Liu Xiaoshi recalled
In order to play the test pilot well, the actors of "King of the Sky" spent about 200 unforgettable days together from pre-training to filming.
"From the moment they joined the crew, they have been training and exercising every day, otherwise they would not be able to bear it during the shooting. Every day, real test pilots will go to the scene to guide and teach aviation theory, and aviation experts will accompany me to watch by the monitor. One time an expert came late and asked if it was a comrade from the flight test team or our team members sitting in it. I said it was an actor and Yibo was sitting in it. He said that I thought he was a real pilot, and the operation was very professional. ’ said the director.
After getting along for a long time, the main creative team and young actors of "The King of the Sky" formed a brotherly friendship.
"Our team is like comrades-in-arms, including Yibo and Brother Jun. They all get along with everyone and have a very deep relationship in life. On the day Yibo was finished, I was filming on the spot, and other young actors went to say goodbye to him. , he greeted everyone in the car, and everyone watched until his car completely disappeared.
They all get along like brothers, and there is no sense of distance between them. I think this is the premise of making a good movie. Because a very important part of this movie is about the friendship between comrades in arms. If their relationship is not so deep in reality, it will form an obstacle in performance in the movie. "

Warriors Orochi: The Recollective Redux Part 1: Introduction and Features
Tumblr media
Introduction
In 2015, I created Warriors Orochi: The Recollective (named after the intended localised name of Musou Orochi Z) as a way of sharing my take on a combined remaster of the first two Warriors Orochi games using the characters from Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends (and Xun Yu from Empires) and Samurai Warriors 4-II. Over the next 8 years to 2023, Warriors Orochi 4 came out (to low expectations) and I started playing basically every Warriors game I could get on the gaming PC I built.
While looking back on this series, I realised that I forgot a few characters in some places and I also noticed that some maps I had were duplicated and that it didn’t make sense to essentially have four less stages for Jin with the split route design I had back in 2015. In short, it was time for me to do a refresh of this series and reflect on some of the decisions I made for it in light of Warriors Orochi 4’s release.
The spirit of this project remains – I wanted to give some characters more screentime compared to the original games and I wanted to make the character unlock conditions for some characters easier (most notably the unlock condition for Wu’s Chapter 8-X to unlock Lu Bu).
Without further ado, please enjoy my 2023 remake of Warriors Orochi: The Recollective. Posts will be released every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Abilities/Items/Treasures will not be detailed in this series.
Changes from the original series
I realised that it was easier to leave the maps from the original games instead of adapting them to the maps from newer games. As such, all original stages from Musou Orochi Z retain their original designs from Dynasty Warriors 5, Samurai Warriors 2 and their Xtreme Legends expansions.
Some new stages from the newer Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games, namely those that haven’t been featured in Warriors Orochi 3 or 4, are used for the original stages in this game.
The Dream Mode adaptation stages from the Orochi and Wei stories (for Sanzang, Benkei, Orochi’s backstory and Orochi X) along with the side stories in the Orochi Story Mode have been removed.
The first four stages of Jin’s upper and lower routes (which have been renamed the Sima Yi and Sima Zhao routes) have been unmerged and the stages divided into either one of the two routes.
Both the Orochi and Jin stories have been reorganised and new stages have been written to fill in the gaps.
Originally, I neglected to feature Jia Xu, Wang Yuanji, Wang Yi and Yu Jin in the A stories and Naomasa Ii and Guo Jia in the B stories. As such, the officers appearing in each battle have been balanced (to the best of my ability) so as to allow all playable officers to appear as allies or enemies at least once.
Side stages where more than one character can be unlocked have been changed with the extra characters being moved to the A stories for Jin.
The unlock stages for Dong Zhuo, Keiji Maeda and Masamune Date have been changed so that Koshōshō‎‎, Lu Lingqi and Gracia are unlocked instead. This is to retain the former three officers’ statuses as staunch officers of the Orochi Army.
Game features
All Story Mode and Dream Mode stages from Musou Orochi Z are adapted into this game, with certain generic officers upgraded to playable officers where applicable.
8 original stages have been added to the Orochi story to bring it in line with the other stories. Those stages will also cover how Himiko, Kiyomori Taira and Sun Wukong joined the Orochi Army.
Two original stories have been created for the Jin kingdom, following Sima Yi and Sima Zhao respectively. This is to allow room for newer characters to be featured (where they wouldn’t fit in the other stories).
Shennong, Diamondback and Hundun are added as bonus characters from Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate with their own scenarios in Dream Mode (like Sanzang and Benkei).
An additional 40 stages have been added to Dream Mode to accommodate the newer characters (but I won’t be detailing them in this series).
Some unlock conditions for the characters in the Warriors Orochi side story battles have been made easier.
Features in battle
Summoning horses is similar to that of Dynasty Warriors 8: press the up/down button to call your horse and hold the button to automatically mount it.
Dynasty Warriors characters have two EX attacks. All characters use their weapons from DW8XL (except for Xun Yu whose weapon is from DW8E).
Samurai Warriors characters have the Hyper Attack Moveset (Shinsoku Action). Mighty Strikes (Tate) are unfortunately removed, but they regain the ability to perform a Dash Attack (adapted from the Shadow Dodge follow-on).
Musou attacks:
Dynasty Warriors characters use a ground Musou Attack that takes up a portion of the Musou gauge. The Rage Musou is used as the True Musou Attack (that is, when your health is at red or when you have a weapon with the skill Verity).
Samurai Warriors characters use up the full Musou gauge. They will have the finisher when they use their normal Musou attack. In the True Musou Attack, the Ultimate (Kaiden/Frenzy) Musou is used following the normal Musou attack in the style of Samurai Warriors 3/Warriors Orochi 3.
Character types and combat systems are the same as in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, save for the True Triple Attack, True Musou Burst and changing battle styles (all 3 characters on the battlefield). Musou Chains (WOZ)/Musou Switch Combos (WO4) are not used.
When the character’s life is in the red or if you have a weapon with the skill Teamwork, a Triple Attack can be used like in Warriors Orochi 2.
New Characters
All older characters will follow their configurations as per Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, including Special Attacks and Aerial Special Attacks (Type Actions). However, it should be noted that some Dynasty Warriors characters have changed weapons in either DW7E or DW8. After testing their Special Moves, I can see that most of their Special Moves can be retained, however they can be changed if they are too hard to adapt to their new weapon (ie. Cao Ren and Huang Gai, aerial only for the latter). Newer characters debuting in newer games will require original Special Attacks and Aerial Special Attacks to be created.
Below are lists of predicted character types for the newer characters (and predicted Musou Attacks for the Dynasty Warriors characters). Since Warriors Orochi 4 has come out, I’m going to see how many of these I got right.
New Power Characters
Cao Ren (uses normal Musou, Charging Bull 廬山)
Li Dian (uses R1 Musou, Royal Lightning 雷公)
Han Dang (uses normal Musou, Hostile Action 怒気開放)
Guan Yinping (uses R1 Musou, Sparring Practice 組手)
Xiahou Ba (uses R1 Musou, Castle Crusher 崩城轟雷撃)
Kagekatsu Uesugi
Toyohisa Shimazu
Reflection:
In regards to Musous for DW characters, I matched Li Dian and Han Dang; Guan Yinping uses her normal Musou, Military Training 演武.
When I originally wrote this series, I was unaware that Xiahou Ba had changed weapons and Musous in DW7 Empires. Although he maintains the same character type between WO3 and WO4, he actually uses his normal Musou, Lightning Spear 雷貫槍 in WO4. The same goes for Cao Ren as well; he used his R1 Musou, Cascading Falls 瀑布 in WO3.
In regards to character types, I matched Li Dian, Han Dang, Kagekatsu Uesugi and Toyohisa Shimazu. Guan Yinping and Kojūrō Katakura are Speed type characters in WO4.
New Technique Characters
Lu Su (uses normal Musou, Boulder Wave 岩隆波)
Zhang Bao (uses normal Musou, Rapid Thrust 連刃千撃)
Fa Zheng (uses R1 Musou, Binder 始伏陣)
Takatora Tōdō
Nobuyuki Sanada
Lady Hayakawa
Reflection:
In regards to Musous for DW characters, I matched Zhang Bao and Fa Zheng; Lu Su uses his R1 Musou, Mountain Strike 大山隆落衝.
In regards to character types, I matched Lu Su, Fa Zheng and Lady Hayakawa. Zhang Bao is a Power Type, while Takatora Tōdō and Nobuyuki Sanada are Speed Types in WO4.
New Speed Characters
Yue Jin (uses R1 Musou, Flurried Strike 震身連斬)
Xun Yu (uses R1 Musou, Divine Emperor Formation 天煌翔覇陣)
Zhu Ran (uses normal Musou, Conflagration Arrow 烈火椋穿弾)
Guan Xing (uses normal Musou, Skyslider 天空滑閃)
Jia Chong (uses R1 Musou, Darkness Blade - Destruction 闇刃・滅)
Zhang Chunhua (uses normal Musou, Crazed Web 狂沸糸)
Chen Gong (uses R1 Musou, Puppeteer - Submission 召兵劇・伏)
Naotora Ii
Yoshitsugu Ōtani
Koshōshō
Reflection:
In regards to Musous for DW characters, I matched Yue Jin, Zhu Ran, Guan Xing, Jia Chong and Zhang Chunhua; Xun Yu uses his normal Musou, Comet Formation (流煌陣) with the pillars activated through his C1, while Chen Gong uses his normal Musou, Puppeteer – Horizontal (召兵劇・横).
In regards to character types, I matched all of the DW characters except Guan Xing and Zhang Chunhua; said characters alongside the SW characters are all Technique types.
New Wonder Characters
Yu Jin (uses normal Musou, Cauterisation 灼絶)
Wen Yang (uses R1 Musou, Instant Flash 奥義・逆鱗閃)
Lu Lingqi (uses R1 Musou, Zero Point 零鋒覇)
Munenori Yagyū
Hisahide Matsunaga
Naomasa Ii
Reflection:
In regards to Musous for DW characters, I did not match any of them; Yu Jin uses his R1 Musou, Hell Blade 獄刃, Wen Yang uses his normal Musou, Raging Billows 八十一鱗, and Lu Lingqi uses her normal Musou, Angel Blade 天翔刃.
In regards to character types, the Wonder type is removed and incorporated into the Technique type in WO4. If we take this assumption into this series, only Munenori Yagyū, being a Technique type, would have matched my prediction. With the exception of Naomasa Ii who is a Speed type character, other listed characters are Power types in WO4.
Unlock conditions for other characters:
Orochi/Da Ji (Orochi story): Clear Chapter 8 for the Shu, Wei, Wu and SW stories.
Zuo Ci: Clear Chapter 8 for the Shu, Wei, Wu and SW stories.
Dodomeki: Obtain 10 treasures.
Gyūki: Obtain 20 treasures.
Sanzang: Clear Chapter 16 for Wei.
Benkei: Clear Chapter 16 for Wu.
Orochi Z: Clear Chapter 16 for all stories.
Shennong: Clear Chapter 16 for SW.
Diamondback: Obtain 25 treasures.
Hundun: Unlock all other characters.

Fate's Hand - Ch 14 - Maknae on Top?
I was a little stuck with how I wanted to go with this but I am hoping I did well. I want to send a special thanks out to Bae and Lysa! They both were awesome and helped give me some ideas! I am so grateful to have some amazing friends who are willing to help get my brain unstuck! This is a bit longer than my other posts but I hope yall enjoy it!!!!
*** Jeongin ***
Nia agreed to go to dinner with me tonight. I remember her discussing the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games when we first got to Japan. Later that night I texted her asking about her favorite characters and she told me they were Wang Yuanji and Kunoichi. Which gave me the perfect idea for a date. But I was also second guessing this.
“Hey Min, can I talk to you for a few?” I asked Seungmin while we were getting ready for the pool.
“Whats up Innie?” he asked.
“I am kind of second guessing this dinner I had planned for Nia and I…” I say.
“Oh? Why? I’m sure she will love just spending time with you.” He says.
“You don’t think she will think a ninja restaurant is childish?” I ask.
“Nope, she already told us how much she liked those games, she even wants to go to Ieyasu’s shrine. I think she will like the restaurant.” He says.
“You don’t think she will think its childish?” I ask nervously.
“I highly doubt she will Innie, she hangs out with the 8 of us. If she doesn’t find us childish and what not, I doubt she will find the restaurant that you picked out childish.” Seungmin says to me with a smile.
“Minnie, you know I’m not good with this stuff. You are the only one I’ve been comfortable like this around. Also, what if she likes one of the others more than me? Is she actually wanting to go on a date with me or is she just doing this to keep,” I start rambling.
“Innie, stop. I don’t know her as well as I like but I can tell you she’s not the type of girl who is going to go along with something just to go along with it. She really likes all of us, and this is all new to her. Just give her a chance.” Seungmin smiles.
“Yeah, I know… I’m just, I don’t know.” I confess.
“Innie, are you thinking about what happened between us back then?” Seungmin asks and places his hand over mine.
I look at Seungmin, unsure of what to say. We were young and the dating ban was in effect. We have never sat down and discussed it before. How would I tell the girl that had sparked something in me from the moment I saw her, that I had kissed one of my best friends. Would she freak out? Would she call me disgusting? That terrified me more than anything else.
“Well, the date is going to be one of the only times I will be able to alone with her. I know she probably doesn’t want to hear a bombshell like this on a date, but if I don’t tell her now, when will I tell her?” I say with a bit of panic in my voice. “I’m not afraid to tell her, I’m afraid of her reaction. We don’t know her thoughts and feelings about all of this. What if this hurts her? What if it scares her off? What if I ruin this for all of us?” I ask starting to spiral.
Seungmin pulls me into a hug and moves my hair out of my face. “You won’t hurt her by telling the truth. You have to be honest with her, this is not something that needs to come up later when there are more feelings involved. Honestly, with as many rumors and speculations of our orientations that are out there among our fans, I highly doubt that this would be something she’s not okay with.” He says with a sweet smile.
“Okay, I will tell her tonight. I hope you are right Minnie.” I say.
“Now let’s get down to the pool before they start questioning where we are.” Seungmin says as he grabs his towel.
When we get down to the pool, Chan, Minho, Felix and Hyunjin are already in the pool with Nia. Nia is laughing and enjoying herself. I sit down at the side of the pool and just watch everyone. Nia turns towards me and gives me the warmest smile… which should have made me happy, but right now feels more like a knife twisting in my gut...
*** Nia ***
Chan was the first one down to the pool. I swear that man must have been wearing swim trucks under his sweats ready to go. I am assuming that one the others had already told him we were rotating the sightseeing with time just at the house. Day of sightseeing then a day of house activities, rinse and repeat. Man did he look good in swim trunks. As soon as I walked out, Chan whistled and smiled. I put my towel down on a lounge chair and put my hair up. Chan swam over to the side of the pool as if he was watching a movie. I smiled and walked over to the pool. He held his hand up to help me, which made me giggle. I slightly put my hand out as if I were going to take him up on the invite and then pulled back at the last second. I instead dived over him into the deep end and swam to the other side. When I came up for air, he looked at me like I had rejected him which made me giggle even more.
“You gotta be quicker than that Channie boy!” I yell and wink at him. He immediately begins swimming towards me. I swam off the other way so he wouldn’t catch me.
“Been a while since someone was able to outswim me slightly. I might have to try to catch ya.” He smirks.
“I can promise that I am worth the effort Chan. Hope you can keep up!” I say teasingly.
“Oh, that sounds like a challenge Chan!!! I can attest to the fact that she is worth the effort” says Felix as he stands there next to Hyunjin smiling.
“I can also vouch that she is absolutely worth the effort Chan!” Hyunjin says with the biggest smile.
“Yall are supposed to be helping me! Not encouraging the wolf to eat Little Red Riding Hood!” I yell at both of them.
“Are you sure that’s not what you want?” Lee Know walks out of the house with a devious smirk on his face.
I look at Lee Know as if I was highly offended, “Wow Minho… I thought we were cool. And here you go sacrificing me to the wolf itself!”
“Gotta help my Hyung out. Not my fault you left yourself open to that!” He says with his maniacal laugh.
“Ill remember that!” I say before I must dive under the water again to escape Chan. I can feel his hand brush my ankle as I swim as fast as I can away.
The next two down to the pool were Seungmin and Jeongin. Seungmin smiles at me as he throws his towel on a chair and sits at the edge of the shallow end. Jeongin sets his towel down next to Seungmin's and then sits on the edge of the deep end. I smiled at him with excitement that we are going to have a date night to ourselves. I’ve been wanting to spend more time with him, but he has always seemed a little stand offish. He smiles back but he looks incredibly nervous. I chalk it up to the fact that we have never spent time alone and we are going to be spending time together.
Han and Changbin are the last ones down to the pool. They apparently had gotten into a karaoke match and Changbin walked into the pool area still singing “LISTEN TO MY HEARTU BEATU!” while Han is shaking his head at him trying not to laugh.
Out of nowhere Chan grabs me from behind, “Looks like I caught you!” he smiles.
“Only because I was distracted,” I say in protest. “If Changbin hadn’t walked in being all adorable, I totally would have avoided being captured!”
“What!? What did I do?” Asks Changbin.
“Nothing love! Just joking around with Chan here!” I called out to him.
Chan spins me around to look at him. “Now that I have captured the fair maiden, what do I get as my prize?” he asks jokingly.
I give him a sweet peck on the lips before I hear my alarm on my phone go off. “Ooops, looks like I need to go get ready for a certain date night!” I smile and swim over the edge of the pool. I climb out and grab a towel before walking over to Jeongin. “I should be ready within about forty minutes if that’s okay?” I ask.
He smiles and nods, “Yup, that should be plenty of time for me to get ready.” He says.
I kiss his cheek and whisper, “I am so excited to spend some time with you!”
He smiles and I walk off to go get ready. After my shower, I styled my hair and decided to put on very minimal makeup. Just some eyeliner, and mascara. I hear a knock on my door, I walk over and open it to reveal a very handsome Seungmin standing there.
“Hey beautiful, mind if I come in?” he asks.
“Of course not, as long as you are fine with me in a towel.” I say.
He chuckles a bit and comes into my room, “The towel covers more than your bathing suit” he says with a smirk.
“Seungmin! That’s not very gentlemanly!” I say giggling.
“I’m kidding! Maybe… hey I just wanted to stop by and let you know that Innie is very nervous about his date with you tonight, please be understanding?” he says with a little bit of concern in his voice.
I stop and look at Seungmin, “Of course, I really like Innie and would never want to make him more nervous or uncomfortable!” I say.
“He’s a sweetheart, just sometimes gets stuck in his head a bit and plays out scenarios before they even have a chance to happen.” He says.
“Understood, thanks for telling me Hun. Mind helping me pick out an outfit since I am sure you know what he has planned?” I ask.
Seungmin walks over to my closet and pulls out a nice pair of black jeans, a silver tank top with a black cardigan. “I would suggest comfortable shoes.” He adds.
I smile at him, “thank you love.” I say.
“You’re welcome. Just remember, be understanding with him please.” He says.
“Of course, I promise!” I say as I smile.
Seungmin smiles, kisses me on the cheek and walks out. I stand there thinking that Jeongin must be beyond nervous if Seungmin is coming to me ahead of time to ask for understanding.
Once I am finished getting ready, I head downstairs. The guys have all migrated into the house in various stages of wetness from the pool. Felix notices me and whistles, which causes the rest to turn and look in my direction. I get a few wows and oooos which make me smile. Jeongin walks up to me in black slacks, black shoes, and a black button-down long sleeve dress shirt.
“You look amazing!” I say when I look at him.
“That’s my line!” He scolds me playfully. “Ready to go? The car is out front.”
I nod my head as the rest of the guys all come up to say their goodbyes and what not. Jeongin leads me out to the car and opens the door for me.
“Thank you, Innie!” I say.
He smiles, “You’re welcome!”
We sit mostly in silence as I can tell that Jeongin is beyond nervous. The ride to the restaurant is about 20 minutes and I feel like those 20 minutes are some of the longest minutes of my life. I don’t want to push him, so I don’t initiate the conversation. We pull up to the restaurant and Jeongin gets out first before walking over to my side of the vehicle to let me out.
“I really hope you like this place…” Jeongin says with a bit of his nervousness showing.
“If its something you picked, I’m sure I will love it, Innie.” I say.
When we walked up to the restaurant there’s a sign that said, “Welcome to Ninja Akasaka!”. The name rings a bell, but I can’t remember from what. We checked in and a Ninja suddenly appeared. After the initial shock, I am beyond excited to see a ninja. The ninja leads us to our table through the Labyrinth, walking past a few beautiful dragon fountains and a few gorgeous cave waterfalls. I am entranced with the experience so far.
When we finally got to our table, it was a beautiful black table with dim lighting. I see all the different celebrity signatures on the walls of the cave, including the Stray Kids themselves. This makes me smile. The ninja who escorted us starts bringing out designated courses per the menu that Jeongin had preordered. It all is very tasty and there seems to be a small, amazing trick that comes along with every menu item that is delivered to the table. This is one of the most fascinating restaurants I have ever been to.
“This is absolutely amazing Innie; I love it so much!” I say excitedly.
“I am so glad you are enjoying it. Ever since the first day when we were discussing the sightseeing and you had mentioned Dynasty and Samurai warriors and I had found out that you loved Kunoichi, I immediately thought of this restaurant.” He says with a huge smile.
“You are so good to me Innie; I love it and I am so happy that you thought of it.” I say as I finish my last bite of dessert.
Jeongin smiles and then gets up and moves next to me. I smile at him, and he smiles back, the first smile of the day in which he doesn’t look so nervous.
“Nia, I really like you. I know I said I needed more time before I agreed to this whole arrangement. But I’ve liked you from the beginning. You are the first to make me feel like I want more of a connection. I’m scared and excited at the same time whenever I look at you.” He leans in closer.
“Innie, I’ve liked you too, that’s why I couldn’t say goodbye to y’all back then. I didn’t want to risk hurting you guys or seeing that you guys wanted me to stay because I wouldn’t have been able tor resist that.” I confess.
Jeongin moves closer to be and leans closer to my face. His lips were just a couple of inches away from mine. I bite my bottom lip, resisting the urge to close the gap and kiss him myself. He seems to have sensed my urge and closes the gap himself, kissing me passionately. One of his hands on my cheek while the other finds it way to my hair, grabbing a fistful of hair gently.
Jeongin pulls back after a few seconds, licks his lips, and looks at me with concern in his eyes. “There is something I need to tell you Nia… This is my first kiss… outside of kissing Seungmin before.” He says as he stares into my eyes.
I look at him still trying to process the kiss that just happened, let alone the fact that he just admitted that the only other person that he has ever kissed was Seungmin. I’m frozen trying to figure out what to react to first, but I see the look in Jeongin’s eyes change. He looks absolutely terrified and scoots away from me, grabbing his card off the table that the server had just brought back, Jeongin gets up and rushes out. “I’m so sorry!” were his last words before he runs off.
I sit there for a second utterly confused and then start grabbing my stuff. The server comes over to me and explains that Jeongin left. I sit back down in utter disbelief. The server asks me if he could get me anything else, I ask for a glass of wine. Why would he just run off like that? He didn’t even give me a chance to respond… I think to myself. The server brings me the glass of wine and I go to give him my card to pay for it, he shakes his head and tells me it’s on the house.
I bring out my phone and text Jeongin:
Me: Innie, where did you go?
Me: I’m still here at the restaurant, you didn’t even give me a chance to say anything!
Me: Innie!
All three texts are left on delivered. I sit there and drink a glass of wine on the verge of tears.
*** Jeongin ***
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! I knew she would freak out; I fucking knew it. I can’t deal with this, I gotta go. I gotta go now. The bill is paid for, she will be okay.
I look at Nia who looks in complete shock. She is taking so long to respond. I can’t handle it if she reacts badly to this. I scoot away from her as soon as the server comes back and leaves my card on the table.
“I’m so sorry!” I say as I pretty much run out of the restaurant. I flag down a taxi as soon as I get outside and tell them to take me back to the house.
How could I be so stupid, of course she wouldn’t accept me after I admit to kissing another guy. Why would she when she has the rest of my Hyungs to be with!
By the time I get back to the house, I am on the verge of crying. I walk through the door, take my shoes off and head directly to my room. Seungmin and Minho are the first to see me.
“Innie! What’s wrong!?” Seungmin asks.
“Nothing, I’m an idiot, I fucked up.” I say looking up at him.
“You told her?” He asks.
“Yeah..” I respond.
“And?” he asks.
I look at him and shrug, “She didn’t say anything, so I panicked and left…” I said as I stopped in front of him looking down at the ground.
“YOU WHAT!?” Minho asks loudly.
“Hyung… I… Left…” I respond.
“YOU LEFT A WOMAN BY HERSELF IN AN UNKNOWN PART OF A CITY IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY?” Minho is full on yelling at this point.
I look up at Minho, realizing what I have done. Minho pulls out his phone and starts texting. At this point, Chan and Felix came rushing down the stairs to see me in tears, Seungmin standing there and Minho beyond livid.
“You better pray that she is okay!” Minho says in a stern voice.
*** Nia ***
It’s been forty-five minutes and Jeongin hasn’t come back. I figured that he had probably gone home. When the server walks over, I use my google translate to ask him if he speaks English. He nods to signal he does.
“Do you know a nearby hotel? I think my friend is upset with me, so I’d rather not see him right now.” I say.
“Yes, down the road there is a hotel. I can have taxi come take you to it.” He says.
“Yes please, thank you very very much.” I smile softly.
The server walks me outside to the taxi and tells him where to take me in Japanese. He gives the driver some monies and thanks him in Japanese. He looks at me and smiles. “Stay Safe” he says. I nod and the taxi driver drives off. About ten minutes later, we pulled up in front of a small hotel. The taxi driver walks me inside and speaks to the front desk. They smile, the taxi driver bows and leaves. The hotel clerk gives me a room key and shows me to my room. Once I get into my room, I make sure to lock the door.
My phone dings:
Minho: Nia… where are you? Are you okay? Are you safe? Send me the address, I’m coming to get you right now!
Minho: Nia! Please answer me!
Me: Minho, I am fine, I just got a hotel room, I’ll be home tomorrow. My phone is dying and there is no store nearby that is open for me to grab a charger.
My phone starts to ring but before I can answer it dies completely…
Shit… this isn’t going to end well…
